A Hotel with character ”
We stayed here for a few nights. The location from the heart of Sintra is very close and within walking distance, but a steep walk, in the heat it is not good. From the train station it is about 10/15mins walk up hill. When arriving at the hotel, I saw a cosy, family feeling hotel. We were greeted by one of the hotel staff, very friendly receptionist, who checked us in. But we had to wait for about 20 mins for our room to be ready. We waited in the lounge area, which was very clean and connected to strong wifi. Outside they had a swimming pool, a dog and 2 parrots I think. So it is great for family with children. The receptionist had a mix up with our payment, which we paid for already by Paypal, but she tried to charge us again on credit card, but after double checking with her staff she told us everything is fine and paid for, a mix up but she dealt with in a friendly manner. A door key to the room, we were on the 2nd floor. Our room was very clean, with the bathroom to be comfortable and fresh. If they had air conditioning, that would have been a bonus as the weather was so hot. Wifi, always strong and fast. There is a water fountain at the front of the hotel and swimming pool at the side, which our window was facing, and it could be annoying when trying to sleep at night, or early in the morning, there is always a lot of noise, as we cannot close the windows because of the heat. Overall, a clean and comfortable stay.

Great stay in traditional hotel”
We enjoyed staying in this traditional style of Hotel. The rooms were large and comfortable. No tea and coffee making facilities and plastic cups only provided in the room. The gardens were lovely and the breakfast was very good. It was a 15 minute walk into town downhill. Tuk tuks were available for transport back to the hotel if needed. Staff were friendly. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Very picturesque place, excellent location”
Very picturesque place, excellent location, fantastic staff
Extremely picturesque and charming hotel a short walking distance (mind the hilly terrain!) to all the main attractions of beautiful Sintra. It was obviously renovated quite recently and has all the amenities you can imagine (we booked a room with kitchenette), the only downside was absence of hot water most of the time except a short time in the evening. Very helpful and accomodating staff, good breakfast (no hot food though). Overall, highly recommended for a short stay in Sintra.

It was a short stay but I enjoyed it. I loved it.”
Friendly Staffs, good location, the hotel is homey. Very close to the historic city center and restaurants.
It was a great stay. Staffs gave me everything I needed such as directions to the places to visit. It was raining but they even had an umbrella for me. Loved the stay!

Charmiing hotel Sintra”
quaint with character, great location. good breakfast
Charmiing hotel in the beautiful city of Sintra. It is walking distance to the Tourist Office, Toy Musuem, Sintra Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. Delicious breakfast with nice bread and fresh yoghurt in a charming room flanked by the glass wall of an aviary with colourful macaws. It is a cosy villa with lush surrounding. Good value for money.

Quintas Das Murtas Hotel – Sintra”
Good Facilities.
Poor Location.
This hotel is a good place for those who love nature. It is surrounded by beautiful landscapes with a small pond and the owner even have a small pet area with parrots, peacocks and a few other animals inside. The downside is the hotel is situated way up the hill and maybe a bit tiring if you try to reach it by foot. At the same time, the place tends to get too quiet at night and can be a bit worrying.

Lovely stay”
good wifi; fabulous breakfast!!!; great location; nice large room; great owners; personalized stay
we could not stay longer!
The house itself was a sprawling pink mansion, with a small pink matching coach house, with a circular small drive with a fountain in the middle. We met several of the other owners, including Luis, who was really welcoming. As it turns out, the property owners are bird collectors, and there is a lovely aviary outside. Our room was on the second floor, and was a large sized room with a small anterior room. The bathroom was also a large sized, and overall we found it to be really comfortable and recently remodeled. The best thing about the house were both the breakfast and location. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had in a long time – fresh fruits, including new bananas, cherries, oranges, and fresh Portuguese melon, several different types of Portuguese breads, pastries, huge rounds of cheese, a meat platter, yogurts and cereals and great juice blends. It was delicious. The hotel was also situated in a great neighborhood, it was a short walk downtown to the “main” tourist area with shops and restaurants, a walk to the train station (uphill or downhill or whichever way you were walking) and the town commerce center, and a short walk to the trail leading up to the Moorish castle, which connected up to the Pena castle.
