Perfectly located in the center of the old moated city of Chiang Mai, Rachamankha Hotel a Member of Relais & Châteaux is barely a minute’s stroll to the city’s most important and impressive temple, Wat Phra Singh. The newest and most exciting night market, the Chiang Mai Sunday Walking Street Market, and a wide choice of bars and restaurants from local to international in style are also a short stroll from the property. Unique for a city hotel, Rachamankha Hotel a Member of Relais & Châteaux is renowned for its peaceful and very private atmosphere as well as incredible architecture. The hotel, just 22 rooms and two suites, is set in two acres of manicured grounds and the architecture pays homage to Chiang Mai’s golden age, offering guests a unique stay in a unique property with a true sense of place. Rachamankha Hotel a Member of Relais & Châteaux is also the only Relais and Châteaux in northern Thailand.

Peaceful and relaxing ”
Beautiful architecture, lovely design details, flowers and trees in the courtyards. Tranquility (we liked the no-kids Policy ), faint sound of classical music. We hardly ever use the pool where we stay but here a dip and lounging became a daily late-afternoon ritual. We hope to be back.
Tranquility and oasis of Zen”
Beautiful hotel. Not over the top. Staff exceptionally polite. The architecture is very well designed and exudes calm and tranquillity. Interiors well done in understated elegance, not flashy. Antiques galore! The breakfast, no doubt, not many choices but the selections are good. Must try the noodle soup. Looks spicy but actually more tomatoes than chilli! The cutlery and plates all ' a set' in willow pattern. Exquisite! The dinner service, food included is fabulous. There's a lone musician playing traditional music during dinner. Do consider dinning here. Don't be intimidated by the setting, starch table cloth, silverware, live music and antiques. The prices are reasonable and food delicious There's even a library. And well stocked with good books. This is a small hotel. I stayed for 4 days and rarely met more than 4 other hotel guests. All friendly. Not the usual crowds you encounter. I definitely will come back here. The location in the inner city is convenient
Peaceful& stylist retreat hotel in the middle of the ancient city”
We love this hotel, its breakfast, welcome drink, the music during diner, and the fact that we can walk to visit all charming temples surrounding this hotel in this old city. The hotel offers an unique experience, giving guests a peaceful mind, full with local culture atmosphere. The garden, living room, library and swimming pool are lovely. The only comment is the golden wall in our bedroom started getting moisturized and rotten, anyhow we are certain that the owner will take care of this soon. Overall maintenance is great. You need to book the hotel in advance as it is always fully booked.
We felt paying extra for deluxe wasn’t worth it . Poor English spoken by reception staff/ concierge made booking trips and restaurants difficult but on the whole staff were excellent and property is divine paradise
splendid upscale place in chiang mai”
The Rachamankha is one of those places that is so beautiful and comfortable that you have a hard time convincing yourself to go out and hit the streets/temples/markets of Chiang Mai. Architect-designed, and it shows; you could walk around for hours just absorbing the details and the antiques in the public areas. (Great gallery--almost a small museum, really--above the restaurant as well.) Breakfast is incredible--you can even make your own blend of fresh juice--and the dinner menu seems inventive and authentic, with some dishes from Burmese and Lao cuisine as well. A short walk to many important temples. I came during Songkran (Thai New Year) and it was a pleasure coming back to the hotel after a day of being sprayed with water by what seemed like hundreds of people on the streets.
An all-time favorite”
I love this hotel and return for a visit whenever I can. The attention to detail in terms of both design and comfort are absolutely perfect. On par with Aman, Four Seasons, Park Hyatt etc... But more personalized because of the size, and the fact that the owner/designer/architect lives there. You can tell the love, honor and whimsy fill this place every day and in every element.
RACHAMANKHA HAS CHARACTER ”
What an enjoyable experience we had at the RACHAMANKHA hotel. Lovely landscaped and manicured grounds with beautiful and elegant artifacts and art works placed throughout the hotel. Management and their staff displayed excellent and courteous service always. Breakfast service, setting and environment second to none. We highly recommend RACHAMANKHA when you are visiting Chiang Mai. Stuart and Junjun Wu-Gurney
This is now one of our favorite hotels in the world. Everywhere you look is photogenic. It is quiet and peaceful. It is a place to go and relax. The welcome drink is generous - including coffee, soft drinks, beer, or wine. The food and drinks at the restaurant were top notch, but with great prices. Cocktails are hand made; the chef is obviously quite good. The local Khao Soi dish was better than other restaurants in town. Breakfast was plentiful and prepared to order in a beautiful setting. As for the room, the sheets and pillows are high quality, the bed comfortable, and the amenities generous, including a top notch coffee machine. When we return to Chiang Mai, will be sure to stay in this wonderful retreat.
Truly a secret retreat”
We were a group of 3 on a girls trip. We loved this peaceful retreat. We got the 2 bedroom suite and it was wonderful. The food at the restaurant was good and we looked forward to breakfast everyday. Though far from any action transportation options in Chiangmai are very reasonable. We would love to go back here.
What a fabulous 3 night stay - beautiful unique hotel I would recommend to everyone - everywhere oozes luxury and a feeling of calm - breakfast in the courtyard is so special - little hints - there are 2 tour shops across the road for easy booking - sometimes a taxi is hard to find so ask reception to order - visit Niminheiman rd for a westend night out - we will definitely be back
Superbly beautiful hotel”
The Rachamankha is truly a unique and special hotel with a beautiful design. We felt like we were staying in an incredibly beautiful home. The staff were very kind and helpful. It really struck the balance between 5-star service and boutique feel. The one problem was that the restaurant was not amazing-- it was fine and I liked the breakfast, but it didn't match the rest of the hotel. Fortunately it is not that expensive (by non-Thai standards). We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful boutique hotel coveniently located”
This small boutique hotel (25 rooms) is in a great location within walking distance of many attractions in the city. The grounds and the rooms are beautifully decorated with old antiques and colonial décor. The pool is quite large and very quiet. The breakfast is a la carte and has everything you need. The staff are amazing and very friendly and helpful!
Delightful hotel, wonderful atmosphere ”
Love this place, 2nd time I've stayed here. It has a very special feel. The rooms and bathroom are a bit on the small size, but not bad and made up by the rest of the hotel. Lovely public area in the middle for relaxing and reading. Nice restaurant & bar.
Perfect hotel for peace and tranquility ”
This hotel offers a perfect environment for some peace and quiet although located in the midst of the city. It has an interesting Lanna architecture style. Rooms are very comfortable and toilet amenities are well-provided. The restaurant offers both Thai and international menu and is beautifully decorated. A small bar is attached to the restaurant that closes at 10pm which we think is a little too early. Close by to the airport, popular temples (Wat), weekend night markets, cafes and restaurants. We will highly recommend this hotel for honeymooners or city dwellers looking for some tranquility.
Intimate feels with luxury ”
We got the 2 bedrooms suite upstairs which is the best room of the hotel, stay there for 3 nights. Very relaxing. The service is excellent but not to the level of other 5 star hotel in Bangkok. What was lacking was indeed the smile from front desk at check in, waiter and waitress, bell boy, including the pool person which is rather odd in Thailand. The hotel give a very formal feel. Very excellent value for money. Breakfast is also excellent. Location is quite good, especially if you want to visit many temples around the hotel. One incident, we actually found large "tuk kae" in our too . It didn't bother us but after informing the front desk, they caught and took it away.
beautiful hotel with an oriental charm”
my girlfriend and i stayed with her parents for 3 nights from 22nd to 25th of feb. we booked through agoda. we requested for airport pick up and it perfect. they had a person with our name waiting for us and the hotel transfer was in a comfortable van. as soon as we arrived, unfortunately the room was not immediately ready , well i guess we were a little early at about 12 noon. we had welcome drink offered to us and check in was pretty easy and the bell boy had our luggage placed in our rooms efficiently. the hotel grounds are simply amazing... we loved the courtyard concept with a touch if an oriental feel ... design and uts so green.. the trees and the lawn is beautiful. we could just laze around the hotel all day. the room is spacious and the amenities are excellent. they had everything you would need including a rack to hang wet clothes if we needed it. the bed is a little hard but large and comfortable. they had lcd tv, dvd player to add to comfort. the bathroom is spaciousm but did not have a separate shower cubicle. the towels were find, but some were reused again the next day. the room is well made each time we leave for the day and they leave us adequate mineral water. the pool area is pretty but the spa is not a full time spa. we have to pre-order the massages which makes it a little inconvenient. we had our massage done outside. location wise, pretty good. just that one has to walk quite a bit to get tuk tuk or alternative have the hotel call for us. the hotel is within walking distance to the sunday night market but about 15 minutes from the daaily night bazaar by tuk tuk. breakfast was good.. had a good spread.. although the menu is the same everyday. after the second day it does get boring. i suggest hotel changes the menu every two days so that guests who stay longer enjoy a better variety. i would give this hotel thumbs up for couples, family with children, elderly..its quiet, peaceful, away from the main hustle and bustle and its cl
Our stay was wonderful. The hotel is magnificent, architecture, garden, cleanliness. It is calm and has a lot of character. The staff is professional and very helpful. The rooms are large, nice and clean. The swimming pool is beautiful. The breakfast is very good, taken in the courtyard with a symbolic but wonderful fireplace.
Lovely hotel and quiet stay in Chaing Mai”
the hotel was in quiet part of the city and the rooms were excellent and service was good and unobtrusive. the hotel is architecturally beautiful and i love the library in a seperate building. i will recommend it for a quiet stay and retreat away from the noise and dust of the city. it is also near the sunday market which is a highlight of the city. however for most places you need to take a tut tut which is about to most destinations, so its not convenient if you want to walk everywhere, but that is a small price to pay for this gem. the food in the restaurant is good.
at the center of the city yet very private”
this hotel is located just 5mins away from the chiang mai's most famous temple and the sunday walking street. but the hotel can provide you the extreme privacy and serenity. the room itself is quite small but fully facilitated. there is a big pool, library, restaurant providing a tasty breakfast (not in the american buffet style).
Great Boutique Hotel - Don't look further”
Great boutique hotel with very good attention to details. The location within the city wall is best you can find. Do not expect a buffet style of breakfast, instead you will have an a la carte menu which really was amazing. I would go back just for the breakfast! The high ceiling room are quite charming and would recommend it for couple.
