Wonderful hotel with the best beach location!”
We stayed at Railay Bay Resort and Spa for my wifes 30th birthday. We absolutely loved it. we read the reviews from earlier posts and didn't know exactly what to expect. Some earlier reviews said the staff were lazy. This was far from our experience. They attended to every matter we had quickly. We were upgraded to a honey moon suite which was located a couple of steps from the pool overlooking the beach and right next to the restaurant! Tip: I think our suite was just right as it wasn't right in front of the pool. That suite seemed to have not enough privacy where out suite was just behind the first couple suites! Our suite had everything we needed. The jacuzzi was great and the out door shower gave a certain touch of Thailand! The breakfast buffet was adequate. Fresh sweet fruit and great omelletes by the chef! The restraunt was a little high for thai prices but still cheap as chips compared to Australian restaurant prices. We fell in love with the view on the beach. Railay is definitely the best place to stay in Krabi! Ao nang beach is not pituresque like railay, and phi phi was nice but a little isolated. I liked being close enough to Ao nang (100 baht) and 10 mins. We were going to stay at the Centura Grand resort just around the corner from railay (boat trip as well) however i'm so glad we stayed at Railay!! Railay has much more to offer. It also has a variety of other resorts and restaurants to pick from. It has bars and a night life to get into with fire shows and muy thai fights to watch. We absolutely loved our stay. If you expect ritz carlton/sofitel/Hilton type resort with no "Thai" appeal and location and sterile location, don't come here. Go to sheraton or sofitel 20 to 30 mins up the road away from everything with a less than pituresque location.

Privacy room was awesome. The location is incredible.”
I had read a number of mixed reviews on Railay Bay Resort and Spa. Sure, the resort isn't new so some of the rooms likely have a little wear and tear but we booked a privacy jacuzzi suite and everything in our suite worked perfectly and most importantly, the room felt like an oasis on busy Railay Beach. This beach is busy for a reason. We've traveled quite extensively to a number of beach destinations and this beach took our breath away. By staying at the resort we found that the beach emptied out after around 5 or 6pm leaving only guests staying at this resort and the others along the beach to enjoy the jaw dropping sunsets. The hotel pool is front and centre offering amazing views out to the bay. Our suite featured an outdoor shower and jacuzzi tub, two sun loungers AND an outdoor sitting area, enclosed to the walkway by a set of wooden doors, which gave us the feeling of being in our own little garden oasis. We stayed in the 9000 block which was about a three to four minute walk to the pool and West Railay beach and only about a five minute walk to EAST Railay Bay so actually a very central location. There was also a second pool immediately adjacent to the 9000 block of suites which we didn't end up using but was large, very nice and super quiet the whole time we were there. If you really want to be close to the beach, the blocks of privacy suites range from the 000's closest to the pool / beach up to the 9000's furthest from West Railay Beach. One slight drawback was that the number of pool loungers was limited for the size of the resort (there really isn't any more room to add more anyway) and we found that people would leave their pool towels on the loungers but would not be there for extended periods (so we moved them). The staff was friendly and helpful at the front desk, the breakfast selection was decent, and the bar staff was ok. As a couple, we both agreed that we would return to Railay Bay in a heartbeat and would most likely stay in the pri

Great hotel to enjoy this beautiful location ”
This is a heavily traveled area full of all kinds of travelers from honeymoon, to retired to back packers to day trippers. I think this is the best hotel on railay bay ( except for the 5 star next door - but it's 3 or more times the price) the resort has both east and west beach access. So you can enjoy breakfast on west rally and most importantly dinner at sunset is amazing on west railay beach. Big pool there with a bar and restaurant that serves food at the pool and has seating beach front outside. Food is tasty, both Thai and western food, The beaches get very very crowded so it's nice to sit off the sand and sit at the pool instead. Save your seats before you eat breakfast. Shaded seats are closest to their spa. Leaped spa options down the beach at other resorts. From this west beach you can rent kayaks or paddle boards to go to phranang beach from an independent supplier just down the beach. You can arrange a 4 hour tour of the 4 Koh poda islands. Food stalks are on Koh Poida with limited menue. Once you agree on the long boat price you still have to pay 400 baht per person at the beach. But very pretty ride On the boat and pretty Islands to walk around on. On the same beach You can also find a crazy path with shopping and restaurants. Careful 2 people we met had bad food poising there. One at the pizza joint and one from the gyro. Ice cream was great and Indian restaurant was very very spicy but good, this railay bay beach resort also has a very very quiet second pool inside the resort. Nice view of the huge rocks (not ocean front) and a favorite spot for parents with small children in the am and quiet coupes in the afternoon. No gym. If you walk to east bay out the back of the hotel you will pass a quick market. If you want a specific alcohol I would bring it with you from the airport or elsewhere but beer is priced ok. Keep walking Go right at the bay and walk past the expensive hotel, before you reach the rock climbing area turn right to go to beautiful

Railay Bay Resort & Spa in my opinion is the best hotel at Railay. Although Railay itself is quite difficult to get to. Travelling from Patong we had to take a car to Phuket town, ferry from Phuket to Phi Phi, ferry from Phi Phi to Krabi, longtail from Krabi to Railay which totalled 9 hours of travelling. Also, when getting on and off the longtail you must carry your luggage (unfortunately we had two massive suitcases!) in knee height water onto the longtail. So I would suggest you contact the hotel to arrange a pickup from Krabi so they are able to assist you. On the journey back to Patong we decided to hire longtail from Railay to a nearby jetty and hire a car which took a total of 3 hours. The journey is as exciting but it is alot faster! The hotel itself is located on the right side of Railay West beach with the beach surrounded by gorgeous rock mountains. It truly is a breathtaking site when you arrive. The staff are lovely and quick to assist. Although compared to other resorts on the island (of which there are approximately 4), this hotel is quite expensive. I do recommend the seafood platter which is enough to feed two people. During the day we were able to take day trips to James bond island, maya bay, 'the beach' island, phi phi, cave canoeing and alot of other water activities. There is a lovely walking track that takes you to the East side of Railay where theres another beach, rock climbing and a track to a viewpoint which you have to climb without a harness (worth the trek!) Railay is a perfect place for couples and is a nice change from the craziness of Patong. If you are looking for some quality time with your significant other, this resort is perfect.

lovely location and fantastic hotel”
We booked the hotel with Agoda.com - including a free upgrade to a privacy cottage. I wouldnt recommend paying extra for a beach facing villa because you are facing the pool then the beach so you dont get any privacy in your room - privacy cottages are set back a little, we were in room 9004 which was on West Railay as the numbers get higher you are heading to East Railay which isnt as nice. If you read any comments about the staff then i would ignore them - i would say that the island has mixed cultures from the surrounding countries. The thai people are lovely and yes some of the other staff that work their are little abrupt but i would ignore it We got to the hotel via traveling from Krabi airport to ao nang via taxi (500bhart) and then longtail boat to west Railay - be aware of low tide and having to wade out in the sea with bags - it cost 100 bhart each and goes when 8 or more people were ready. Recommend only looking at hotels on West Railay if you want the beautiful scenery - hence why East railay is cheaper and to be honest smells with sewage. The tide goes at lunch leaving a muddy shore behind. I think this part of the island is the trade entrance for the hotels. Boat ride from Railay to Krabi 45mins longtail boat - nothing really worth visiting in the town - would suggest Ao Nang for shopping and if you need western shops this is your place. Hired a longtail boat for half a day 1600 bhart - island hoping around chicken island and Pra Nang Beach worth exploring - Ko Phi Phi is at least 2.30hrs away via longtail boat. Rayavadee Hotel is a must for dinner for at least 1 night - it is one of the top 100 places to stay in the world and whilst it is expensive to sleep their the restaurant is good value - you pay about £30 for wine compared to about £10 back home but to be honest we were sick of Singha beer towards the end of our tip. I would say that the Railay Bay resort which is next door to Rayavadee is the second best hotel on the Island es

Great location; great rooms; great service”
While in Krabi I stayed at 3 different places (two at Railay and one on Phi Phi). This was by far the best. The Deluxe Cottage was large, spacious - both the room and the bathroom. As other reviewers have mentioned, the resort is large and stretches from Railay West to Railay East. My cottage was closer to the East side, but I had no problem with this. I spent my days on the West side, either on the beach or beside the resort's beachfront pool. It was about a (pleasant) 7 minute walk from one side of the resort to the other. In between there are a few shops, internet access, a minimart, and a smaller, more private swimming pool. During the evenings I'd visit Railay East for dinner and entertainment. My room was secluded and private and I didn't overhear any partying or late-night antics. The breakfast buffet is extensive and delicious. The hot food options vary daily. Overall, I found the restaurant's food to be quite good. I'm sure the spa is fantastic - it looked as if it was. The services at the spa are at least 4 times what you'd pay at other places in Railay. While the ambiance/atmosphere doesn't compare to what you'd get at the resort, if you're simply looking for a massage, you could get 4 for the price of 1 by leaving the resort and visiting the walking street or Railay East. Free DVD rental at front desk is a nice touch, particularly during late afternoon/early evening tropical storms.

Pleasantly enjoyable experience”
We stayed at the Railay Bay resort and Spa for our vacation for 4 nights. We booked through the Agoda website, and the main attractions for choosing this place were its location and its beaches. It’s one of the few resorts on the West side of the Railay Bay. It is located on the beach itself. The beach was almost private to the three or four resorts situated around and had two cliffs on either side making it a very picturesque stretch. The hotel was also just a 10 minute walk from PhraNang beach (Some travelers view it as one of the top 10 beaches in Asia. I won’t be in a position to rate the beach – but is definitely very very very pretty. Further, we were lucky to get a free upgrade to one of their privacy cottages as well as the fourth night free, as part of their ongoing off season promotions. We came across very few global hotel chains in the region when planning the holiday. Most hotels here, irrespective of their star rating seem to be local Thai chains. However, we had overall no reason to complain. The hotel has a west to east side orientation i.e. it is accessible from both sides of the Bay. Our room, like I mentioned was the privacy cottage with a small garden/ verandah with private sun deck chairs (which unfortunately we did not use other than for drying clothes) as well as a private Jacuzzi. These cottages are walled from all slides, so there isn’t really a view of the beach. However, like we figured, none of the rooms or privacy cottages had a view of the beach. The property has two swimming pools, with one facing the beach. The other pool was towards the east side amongst the rooms and cottages with no view, and frankly I quite did not understand the reason of people being in that pool. Spending time on the sun deck chairs by the pool facing the beach was the best part of staying at this hotel. The Hotel has one restaurant which is bang on the beach. The restaurant has an open air section, which is the best place to be for breakfast.

Beautiful beach, amazing adventures”
We were 3 adults staying in a pool villa. It was clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly and promptly addressed any needs (particularly the Thai comedian who you first meet getting off the boat with your luggage, he was hilarious). Decent buffet breakfast included which offered international selections. Travel office on site (although we ended up booking with another travel office) was convenient and offered anything and everything to do in Krabi. The resort is only accessible by boat, but don't be discouraged as you arrive (the side of the beach you arrive on isn't very nice and the trash barge is docked there). Once you go through the resort to the reception area, you see the much, much nicer beach on the other side. There are kayaks available and plenty of long boats to take you around (I recommend a night in Ao Nang for dinner and drinks). In the small area around Railay Bay Resort there are other resorts and a small walking village with other travel offices, restaurants, bars, and shopping. It was a great 5 day trip and we didn't get to do all of the day trips we wanted to, so we will surely be back to stay at this resort again. Only complaint is that the beds were very firm and became somewhat uncomfortable after a few nights, but for all of the other amazing aspects of this resort and it's location, I can deal with a hard bed.

Lovely rooms in paradise location!”
My stay at Railay Bay Resort & Spa was wonderful. The rooms and hotel ammenities are beautiful, and I was staying even in one of the most basic rooms. Some of the hotel services were expensive (restaurant and laundry in particular) but they could be used sparingly and even avoided by the frugal traveler, as just a short walk away is cheaper food and laundry options. The pool at the resort was amazing - from it you could look out to the sea. The beach itself is also beautiful, and there were plenty of activities available, from kayaking to snorkeling to visiting nearby islands and beaches. Other than being a bit pricey (but worth it if you can afford it) I would definitely recommend Railay Bay Resort & Spa.

Superb location, very relaxing resort”
Located in prime position on Railay West Beach, Railay Bay Resort & Spa is a great place to stay for a few nights of splurge. Railay has stunning surrounding scenery of limestone cliffs and sandy beaach alcoves, it's an environmental conservation success (at least it is by the deplorable Thai standards). So once all the day trippers have disappeared back to Ao Nang, Phuket or Phi Phi, you've got these coastal paradise to yourself. Thankfully the resort is quite large, meaning that very few "tin hut" booths and shops have sprung up to stain this area's natural beauty. The resort is clean and relaxing. The rooms are large and modern, with outdoor jacuzzis, and soem with private gardens etc. The only negative I had for the rooms was that the internet was slow and often went down. The resort has 2 good sized swimming pools and an on site shop. The beachfront restaurant is large and the breakfast spread is pretty good - you can also order extra cooked meals if ur vegetarian. The only issue I had with the resort was getting and from it. You need to get a boat to get to Railay from Ao Nang. There are lots of boats on the beach but it is a real hassle if you have a lot of luggage. I needed to get to the airport afterwards; the resort offers transport but it is totally overpriced. They have enough guests staying to be able to provide cheaper and regular transport shuttles to the airport, instead of insisting each guest books a minibus / taxi privately with them. If they pooled guest groups for transport they could provide an efficient, affordable and improved service to guests. It would also help conserve fuel and pollution in the area.

My husband and I stayed in a Railay Deluxe room, with bathtub. Pros- The room was very spacious and in a nice location with a pretty view of the gardens. The staff picked us up on the beach with a cart for our luggage. Great free breakfast buffet that had good Western and Asian options. Great proximity to the beach. 2 nice pools, one overlooking the beach. They give you a beach bag, beach mat, towels, and umbrella to borrow. Location- Railay Bay Resort and Spa is on "Railay West," which is way nicer than Railay East. It is the side with the pretty beach that you can lay on and enjoy. (Railay East has more lower cost restaurants, resorts, etc. but is not as pretty of a beach and one that you cant swim in.) But you can walk to the other side in about 5 minutes- If you don't want to pay for the higher resort restaurant prices, walk to Railay East or a street a few feet down from the resort with some other options. Railay Bay in itself is such a neat, warm-feeling place! The only con was the cleanliness- It was not the cleanest room, with some stains on the headboard and couch.

Railay Bay Resort - fantastic”
Railay Bay Resort is the best resort to stay whilst in Railay. Due to that, it can also be the most expensive, however we found a good deal in the low season. The pool at the front overlooks Railay West, with its pristine white sand & beautiful blue water. The rear pool is more secluded & peaceful. We stayed in a "Privacy Suite" which was wonderful - your own courtyard, outside spa & shower, as well as a large room, king size bed & ensuite. The entrance is a small walkway over a coy pond. The resort is ideally located, with access to both Railay West & East & is only a short walk from Phra Nang Cave beach. The local dishes at the restaurant are wonderful, however a decent wine will set you back (quite normal in most of Thailand). We enjoyed our visit so much that we have arranged for our wedding to be held there & arranged by the very friendly & helpful staff.

Great location - great price”
We stayed 3 nights at Railay Bay resort and Spa in a Railay Suite Cottage. These have a lounge/daybed that easily converts into a bed for a child and plenty of room for a baby cot. We had 2 adults and 2 children fit with no problem. We weren't charged for teh baby cot and bedding was provided for free for the daybed. We were of the impression that these cottages had 2 rooms which is not correct. It is just one large space set out into a bed then a seating area. We booked the pickup through the hotel and had a hassle free trip from the airport. A mini van picked us up and drove us to beach where they helped us put bags and children in a boat. We did had to go into water ankle deep to get on boat so I would recommend shorts and easily removable shoes. At the other end we arrived at West Railay (the mangrove side) and a tractor with a trailer drove out to the boat to collect us so we didn't have to get wet at all. We were then driven on a gold cart to reception and take to our rooms. Toiletries and towels are provided alond with a grass mat you can use on the beach. We loved the cottage which is surrounded by greenery and very close to the beach/pool. Our trip was at the end of the "green season" wet season so price was very attractive also. Our only negative comment is the beer was not very cold but you can easily walk up the beach to "walking street' for a much colder beverage :o).

The Best Hotel in Railay !!”
we really enjoy our stay at the railay bay. we were on our honeymoon, and we mention that in our special request, and the hotel staff accommodate that with a special arrangement in the room. it was our first time in railay so we were not that familiar with the area, but once we got there, we really glad that we chose railay bay. it is not the most luxurious in railay, but with the price and quality, it sure beats the other hotels there. it has dual entrance, by the west and the east beaches so its easy for comfort tour around the bay. it has a tropical resort feel, with beautiful gardens here and there, nice pool, pool bar, and open air restaurant, with cottages and duplexes so you feel like staying in the tropics and not inside a hotel building with elevators. the pool is great, and the restaurant offers variety of good food for breakfast with a killer view. the rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are spacious, the balconies/terraces are spacious too. would definitely stay there on our next trip to railay bay.

It was my honeymoon trip and I booked the Jacuzzi Villa which was one of the privacy villas closer to the west side of the Railay beach. The swimming pool and the west beach was 1 min walk from our villa. The views from the pool and the restaurant next to it was breathtaking. The villa was very well furnished. Bathroom and the open air jacuzzi requires slight renovation. But the way the villas have been designed with utilities in mind it deserves appreciation. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. I informed the Resort that it was my honeymoon so they prepared the room with special flowers and they even went the extra mile to serve a Choco fudge cake at our villa with candles :) ! Loved their hospitality. The poolside bar and restaurant renovations just finished when we checked it and it has given the Resort a contemporary touch. Can't write enough about my experience. Railay beach is a must visit in Krabi and Railay Bay Resort should be the first choice if it's within ones budget

Railay beach is stunningly beautiful and accessible only by longboat (about 30 min-lovely ride) from points in Krabi. You'll need to wade thru the water to get to the beach/hotel itself but the longboat man will probably help you with your luggage. The hotel sits on the west beach with its open air restaurant facing the water. There are string of resorts on the beach and also on the east beach (5 min walk). The west beach is much nicer in terms of view, the east side has all the bars and restaurants and is less of a beach and more mangroves. The best beach is a short walk from the east side called Hat Phra Nang. White sand, warm clear water, looming cliffs. AMAZING! You can arrange for rock climbing lessons, scuba, and snorkling. Snorkling from the beach is not bad. The hotel is lovely. I was in a private bungalow with its own outdoor jacuzzi and private courtyard. Spotless and elegantly decorated, though it looks like they just finished construction, as the cement walls of the bathroom still had pencil markings on it. Full breakfast is included - and there are zillions of choices that will satisfy any palate. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They have 2 pools and a spa (much cheaper to go the the east side where there are a few massage places) and an internet/computer room(also cheaper to go to the east side) I was there is low season (July). Railay is really only a tourist area. There is nothing but hotels and restaurants. You can see the local workers commuting in by longboat. There were plenty of tourists there when I was there and I hate to think what it would be like in high season. To see anything other than a fancy hotel or a beach/spa you need to take the longboat back to Krabi and check out the town. The longboats charge 100baht/person if there are 10 people. If not, you can pay 1000 baht or wait. And they WILL wait. This is a really beautiful spot, but beware that you will not be seeing anything of real Thai life.

LOVED Railay Bay Resort”
We were a bit concerned after reading some of the negative reviews, so perhaps it lowered our expectations, but when we arrived, we absolutely LOVED Railay Bay Resort. The staff were wonderful, the scenery is even more amazing than seeing the pictures on the internet and we really wished we had booked more than 3 nights here. There is so much to rave about-- the beach, the buffet breakfast on the beach (WOW), the boat rides, and all the wonderful memories we have make us want to go back again! We really appreciated the little Quik Mart where we were able to get Singha beer and munchies at a reasonable price for our room-- sweet! BTW-- EAST beach is lovely in its own way and we were glad to be at a resort where we had access to both sides. TIP: We arrived at the resort without the hotel transport and we left WITH the hotel transport-- YES, IT IS WORTH THE MONEY!!

The Garden of Eden with a Beach”
Railay Bay Resort & Spa is the most Beautiful place we have ever stayed, the staff were just excellent, they were there to help with everything. The food was absolutely amazing in the best setting you could ever imagine right on the beach. The prices for food & alcohol were very cheap & while there are many other places you could go to eat,we found the resorts food & service the best by far.Take a waterproof camera & hire a sea kayak & snorkelling gear & paddle around the coast line to view the amazing scenery. We were very sad to leave this amazing place & the one thing we realized is it is hard to compare any other place or resort to this one, once you have stayed here its pretty hard to beat.Stay in the off season June/July & the prices are very reasonable & the weather is still great.

Perfect location, satisfactory facilities”
The resort is in the perfect location, split equally between Railay E and Railay W beaches. The breakfast was extensive and very good, including the amazing views from the restaurant. The pools are well maintained, though we spent our time on the beaches. There were several local stores nearby with reasonably priced (for Railay) necessities. The resort welcomed us with fresh fruit, the room had a tote and bamboo beach blanket to take with you, and the pools rented towels for beach use. The 1500 Baht airport transfer from Krabi was expensive and necessary given our 7:00 PM arrival. Plan around this if you can. There were a few disappointments with the room. The door wouldn't fully close and mosquitos were constantly in the room. We frequently closed the curtains in the door to minimize the issue, but it never solved the problem. Second, our king size bed was two twins pushed together with separate bedding for each twin bed. The gap between the beds was noticeable and uncomfortable. Overall, I'd recommend Railay Bay Resort and Spa given Railay's one-of-a-kind experience, but it's pricier than other beaches nearby.

Beautiful location and great rates”
the railay bay resort & spa is set on the most stunning beach in krabi. the accommodation rates are great value for money as the rooms are generous in size, clean and full of all the mod cons. in general the staff where very pleasant and helpful. the restaurant covers all cuisines however, i highly recommend the green thai curry, magarita pizza and pad tai...delicious! as the restaurant looks over the beautiful beach we found ourselves enjoying a few cocktails after dinner just to enjoy the view. would definitely stay there again!
