My expectations were exceeded based on reviews.”
I was lead to believe that Railay was an island, rather than what it actually is- a peninsula. Perhaps because the beach is only accessible by boat. The other thing that is misleading about Railay is how spread out everything looks on maps. Everything is within walking distance. That being said, Railay Princess is located on the East Beach of the peninsula. We arrived by longtail boat (very easy to catch from helpful English speaking staff from any mainland pier) on the West Beach. Clear signage lead us across the peninsula over a 3 minute walk to the East Beach. Railay Princess is one of the nicest hotels available on the beach. Railay Princess and Railay Bay are jointly owned, so you can enjoy the facilities (like massage) at both hotels. Rayavadee is probably the nicest on the Beach. If you're looking for an extravagant getaway- stay at Rayavadee. If you're looking for a well-priced hotel that will provide a comfortable stay, they stay at Railay Princess or Railay Bay. I was very happy with Railay Princess's facilities, services, and available food. Check in was very easy, but is later than 2 PM. Internet was quite slow and for the most part only accessible in the lobby. Railay Princess has two pools- a beautiful one in their garden in the back, and another atop their restaurant on a balcony facing the beach and beautiful limestone cliffs. The breakfast buffet was huge and diverse with plenty of Western options. I read reviews that the restaurant had terrible food, but I completely disagree. The menu had Thai and Western options and everything was delicious. Restaurant staff in general on the beach is a little inattentive and slow, but this we got used to. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed. Beautiful balcony facing their garden- but leave your balcony door closed! Monkeys WILL come in and raid your minibar. Comfortable bed, nice bathroom, and the television had a great selection of channels.
Great value w/ added amenities from sister resort”
This was the third hotel I stayed at while in Krabi. I had previously stayed at the Railay Bay Resort & Spa (RBRS) and on Phi Phi (at the PP Phitarom). The Railay Princess ranks in the middle of these two resorts, RBRS being the best, but also the most expensive. The benefit of staying at the Princess is that, because it's a sister resort of RBRS, you have access to many of that resort's amenities (i.e. the beachfront pool and the DVD rentals, if you feel like making the 10-15 walk over there). The pool at the Princess was very nice, and while I opted to stay at the Princess over RBRS to save money but still use their pool, I ended up just using the Princess pool. The Princess is located between Railay East and West, a little closer to East. There's not much beach to speak of on Railay East, but the walk over to the West beach is only 10 min. I was in one of the buildings further from the main building. The view from my room was great, but also overlooked some construction. This didn't really bother me, but mention it b/c if you think it will bother you, request to be in one of the buildings closer to the pool. (Of course, being closer to the pool also means it will be louder.) The rooms are standard and perhaps a tiny bit dated, but I have no complaints. The bathroom was clean and large, but the showerhead sprayed wide and hence it was difficult to get great water pressure. (If you can imagine standing directly under the spray head, but having it spray all around your head (like some halo spraying water downwards), as opposed to actually making contact with your head.) Like at RBRS, the breakfast buffet (and the restaurant's food in general) was great. There was lots of variety and the options for hot food varied daily. The staff was amazing and incredibly friendly/accommodating. (I was given a late check-out at no additional cost.)
Great hotel with a great location”
The Railay Princess Resort and Spa offers an affordable, but still very nice, option for travelers looking to stay in Railay. The hotel is situated almost equidistant from Railay West (beautiful beaches, restaurants, and luxury hotels) and Railay East (less-attractive beach, cheaper hotels, cheaper food/beers). If you stay at the Railay Princess Resort and Spa you will have access to the pools at its sister resort, the Railay Bay Resort which has a pool literally on the beach of Railay West.
New, clean and nice pool”
I was very satisfied with my stay. The reception staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The Resort has a very nice rooftop pool and is in a good setting. It's on the East side of Raileh, which means a short walk to either the West side or to Phra Nang beach if you want to enjoy the beach (10 min max walk). I deliberately chose the East side this time since the Resorts on the West side are old and overpriced and their rooms reach all the way to the East side anyways. I would totally recommend Railay Princess Resort & Spa if you're looking for clean & modern accommodation. Will return!
Beautiful resort, easy access form the pier”
Railay is small and easy to get around, no matter where you stay; but Railay Princess is beautiful and the staff are lovely. The day it rained we checked out the spa and got massages and manicures/pedicures next to the pond: very relaxing. The massage therapist even braided my hair! So sweet. The breakfast was included and there was a wide selection of food. The hotel is a short walk to everything, have two lovely pools, restaurants, and a gym; and the staff are able to organize travel to/from Krabi airport for a fair price. Would definitely stay there again.
Great Hotel”
We stayed in Railay for a total of 4 nights two of which were spent here at Railay Princess Resort and Spa. We had previously stayed at a hotel which was far below our expectation so when we arrived at the Princess resort we were blown away. The staff were excellent with drinks on arrival and the room was clean and nicely finished. I Would definitely recommend to stay.
You will be happy here!”
I was extremely happy with our stay at Railay Princess Resort. The facilities (especially the pool!) were beautiful and well kept. The location was perfect: right next to the dock for the boats, a quick walk to all the beaches, and far enough away from the busy restaurants/bars so that it was quiet. I'm already fantasizing about returning. ;) There's no need to pay twice as much for a different hotel, because the quality at other locations was not higher. I suggest eating elsewhere though, because it seemed like they're cooking for a Western palette. So if you want authentic seasoning, check out the local restaurants. Seriously, this is a great resort. I'm sure you'll be happy with your stay.
Awesome place”
My friends and I enjoyed staying at the Railay Princess Resort & Spa. The breakfast was beyond amazing and free! The only thing we would change is to add more signs to guide us from the main beach where the long tail boats drop off so we aren't wandering around in the jungle with our heavy bags. But other than that, it was a great hotel on an awesome beach!
(se previous review)”
Decided to stay 1 more night in Raylay / "Railay Princess Resort & Spa" Went down to the reception and asked for another night, but it was more expensive than what we booked for on Agoda. Then told the price i could get the room for on Agoda, but the lady in the reception wasn't allowed to book under a certain price (more expensive). I could however just go online and show her the booking for the exstra night and we could stay in the room without checking out and in again. So a bit difficult this way, but not a big problem in the end - just know that you cant bargain below Agoda price on this specific hotel at least.
One of the nicest hotels in Railay”
I think the Railay Princess is the nicest hotel in Railay for the price range. The rooms are very new and reminiscent of the quality of rooms found in very developed countries such as in the USA or Europe. The rooms are set around a pond and the pool, each with balconies. The only downfall is that it is not directly on the beach, but its a short 1 minute walk. We had also stayed at the Railay Bay which has a nicer location for their pool, but the rooms at Railay Princess were much nicer and actually slightly cheaper on Agoda.
Lovely, comfortable with views”
we found the princess perfectly located to explore all of railay. extremely neat, comfortable & clean, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. greatly appreciated complimentary daily bottled waters & room cleaning. beautiful views of limestone e cliffs & well-maintained grounds/gardens. didn't eat at the restaurant or make use of spa faciilities - quite pricey compared to other options. made use of other facilities on railay bay resort on west beach which princess is affiliated with. must check out phananf cave beach - very special. pay attention to the warning on the sliding door to keep the doors closed due to the monkeys that like to help themselves to the mini bar - true story!
Beautiful property near Railay Beach”
I really loved Railay Princess. The rooms were very clean and HUGE! These were the largest rooms we have had in Thailand. We had a connecting room and it was very roomy for 7 of us. It is great that there is a daybed in the room for an extra child to sleep. The bathrooms were huge too and had separate tub and shower. We were in the deluxe rooms on the bottom floor so we could walk right out to the gorgeous pool. The only downside was that you have to walk a good 250 meters from the beach to finally reach the deluxe rooms; you pass all the bungalows on the way. I guess the up side is that it is very quite back there! There is an additional pool near the beach which was very nice to enjoy as well, but I especially liked the pool near the deluxe room because there was quite a bit of shade for the kids. The restaurant has a lovely view of the beach and the food was very good. The only thing that this hotel lacks is some lounging chairs that face the beach, but it is easy enough to put out a towel on the beach. The hotel does provide great quality beach towels. My kids loved the fresh fruit that was left for us after each cleaning. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families! I would especially recommend this West beach of Railay!! It is definitely worth the money to stay on the gorgeous west beach; the east side is very marshy, and not a beach at all.
Lovely place to stay”
Loved this hotel. It's right next to the pier which made it nice we didn't have to carry our bags far as there is no transport on railay. Lovely room looking over one of the pools with a view of the ocean just behind. Rooms were spacious, comfy beds, lots of facilities. Clean bathroom (bath and shower). Unfortunately each time I have visited railay I have got sick, apparently the only safe place to eat is the family restaurant just to give everyone the heads up, we also had a stone baked pizza about 4 doors down which was also good, avoid everywhere else. Staff were friendly and were always quick to assist with anything. wouls defintely stay again, I stayed in the railay bay resort last year and must say the princess is of a much higher standard.
Great resort, very pleased ”
We are absolutely pleased with our 3 night stay at this resort. We got the room at a discounted promotional price and for the price we have paid, this is a really good resort. It's very clean, comfortable and peaceful. Though we traveled as a couple, i've seen many families with young children or babies staying at this resort. Our rooms were near the lake and swimming pool, great view there. The other pool faces the Railey East beach with cliffs flanking both views on the side, very relaxing and love the view. Resort reception is closer to Railay East, and only a few steps away from the pier there. It would be easier for you to contact the reception to arrange for boat and car transfer to the hotel. Railey East also have more food options and bars. The whole Railay is quiet and peaceful, with no loud party scene, this is why it's very suitable for young families. Wifi in the room is not very strong, it is stronger on our balcony or at the pool, this is not a big issue as it's a holiday! It's great to be disconnected from the rest of the world =) I would definetely recommend this resort to my friends.
Great location, beautiful resort, best value on Railay”
I love staying at Railay Princess when I travel to Railay because it is a great location, a beautiful hotel and the best parts are the lovely grounds, friendly staff, amazing breakfast buffet and the 2 swimming pools. However, there were a few disappointing things on this past visit at the end of March: we made some special requests about our rooms but didn't receive them, then at the garden pool there was a strong stench of garbage the whole day which was really awful, and we also had some issues with the pool-side food service. We didn't get what we ordered and then several times we didn't get the correct change back. I still love this resort, but I was disappointed things were not up to standard this past visit.
super stay but don’t eat there”
i spent 2 nights in a superior room and 11 nights in deluxe. the superior was great but the deluxe was amazing. definitely worth the extra. the pool on the second floor is fabulous. the other pool looked good too but didn’t lure me over. the location is perfect imo because it’s close to phra nang beach which is the best in the area. west beach is too busy with resorts, shops, restaurants & boats. east beach is not for swimming. this railay princess is close to cheaper priced dining ... and better quality dining imo. don’t eat at the hotel though. while room & resort cleanliness is good, the restaurant isn’t as clean. i am allergic to oysters and got sick from the prawns on the forced $124 meal on nye because they don’t separate seafood well enough. i also got food poisoning from breakfast (eggs, rice & fruit) one day. can’t blaim any of it on alcohol because i didn’t have any. i would absolutely recommend princess to anyone but caution them about dining there. lots of other options.
Value for money”
Resort environment is very nice but superior room just basic , old and small, at least it's clean and we don't really stay in the room for long time so it's ok. Air conditioner blowing right to my head all night. Balcony faces to the garden pool. Has monkey got inside stole our snacks from mini bar , be very careful lock your balcony door !! Breakfast is basic, don't have yogurt. Don't expect muesli with yogurt, you can only find milk and corn flakes which is much cheaper than muesli or real cereal. We had our first dinner at railay west but also using the same menu as princess resort they brought us a expired fish smelly steamed which made me very disappointed. Staff in the restaurant can speak English but attitude is just ok, or maybe they just saw too many tourists and are not very happy to seeing tourists who order little food. I work and live in Bangkok , I could say the food in this restaurant is very much overpriced . A bottle of Change water costs 50thb. Blended pineapple juice or any other juice costs 100thb(in bkk is 25-35thb). Their things from Mimimart also more expensive than other resort on railay beach. In 2011 I've been to railay , normally you order BBQ seafood you get free salad, by that time the salad bar has everything you need. In 2015, this time I traveled here , salad bar has only tomato cucumber cabbage and bread. Seafood also surprisingly not as fresh as in other city that is not near by the sea. The whole railay area is getting much more commercial than the first time I visited here. People changed the way they treat tourists , everything they try to lower the basic cost and as customer we had a lower quality of things. This is how it is on the whole railay area now . Besides the food things on railay. We enjoyed the beach and sea very much, recommend to come Better not in the rain season if you don't want to see a dark grey water from the sea with low water in the morning and evening
Thai vs Malaysia/Indonesia ”
I love Thai's and against the southern invasion by neighboring countries...but If you read reviews of this same hotel from 2016 they all complain on bad attitude and probably rightfully so . The Thai islanders are ignorant/racist, lazy drug users (unlike the rest of Thailand ) and now most of the customer service is occupied by Malays and they are WONDERFUL! they leave no option for the local Thais but to behave accordingly and that's a win win for us the tourist. so thank you🙏👍🙌 Princess Resort & Spa for making the change
Great hotel friendly staff”
We had a great time at Railey princess. Everything is very well arranged. I can recommend that you get a pick up at the airport if you are with 4 travellers or so. 1200 baht and it's so fast! The staff is very friendly. Rooms are very pretty. The breakfast is pretty good too! The omelette lady makes great omelettes! The location is perfect too. Very central to everything. Make sure you pay a visit to Tay lew bar during the day for a beautiful view and some nice cocktails. If I had to say something negative the only thing I could think about is that the food to order isn't of great quality (but this is everywhere on railay) there wasn't any nice quality food available on Railay. Before you go to Railay make sure to bring drinks and stuff from the 7-11 everything is so much more expensive! (double the price and up). Railey is like an island and only available by boat.
Great resort in a lovely town”
The Railay Princess was a true resort (as opposed to the many low-budget Thai hotels that pose as "resorts"), with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the coast, nice rooms, a great breakfast buffet, and a helpful staff. The gym was small (one treadmill, one bike, a set of free weights, a pulley rack, and one bench) but nice to have. The location was much better than expected- conveniently close to everything in Railay. I would love to go back.
