Best Hotel for the Cameron Highlands”
If you visit the Cameron Highlands and want a plastic, "I could be anywhere" experience, stay away from the Rain Forest Inn. If, however, you want a magical time in a wonderful place, a unique hotel that actually allows you to escape the everyday world and experience something of the place to which you have travelled, then book the Rain Forest Inn. We took a taxi to and from KL, and it was no problem. Moreover, with a bit of advanced notice, even if you don't have a car, John and Gee Tat can arrange wonderful tours of everything you'll want to see (e.g. the Mossy Forest, tea plantations, Orchid farms, strawberry farms, etc.). And if you just want to relax, you can spend the day at their private waterfall. In my view, you are utterly misguided to spend a penny more on accommodation in the Cameron Highlands: The Rain Forest Inn has everything a person needs!
5-star back to nature stay! ”
My friends & I are glad to have stumbled across this place. I personally support responsible tourism, & this place fits the bill perfectly. Rain Forest Inn is owned by John, a Semai native in collaboration with Mr Ong & his wife on the marketing/operation's end. With this project, employment opportunities were created for the native people; our money goes back to the native & local economy. The pristine & unspoilt environment is refreshing. The homestay is next to a waterfall with crystal clear water. Our room window opened onto a waterfall. We woke up to total silence except the sound of the water pouring down the mountain. John built the two houses (one house has 5 double rooms, & another house has two family rooms). He built pretty much everything himself. They also grow their own vegetables & fruits, which are cooked for our authentic native dinner (RM 25 per pax). B’fast with coffee / tea is included. As this is an authentic native homestay, pls expect bare basic amenities: shared toilet outside the house, one water heater, no wifi, & bad connection for cell phone. There were numerous beetles & other winged insects drawn to lights. Mosquito net is provided in bedroom, but we slept without it. As the house structure is according to actual native’s house, pls expect minimal privacy. You will hear sounds from other guests, and bamboo floor creaking sound when stepped on it. They are planning to build chalet-type to accommodate those that prefer privacy, but it is still at planning stage. John, Mr & Mrs Ong openly share their vision and knowledge with us. We strongly recommend Rain Forest Inn to both Malaysians & non-Malaysians. As the homestay is off the beaten track, pls contact Mr Ong prior to arrival. They will lead you to their homestay from Petronas petrol station at Ringlet, which will take another 20 mins driving distance. Mr Ong's contact is firstname.lastname@example.org, cell phone +6012-656 1788 / +6016-532 4290.
A Hidden Getaway in The Middle Of A Rainforest”
My husband and I was searching for an authentic getaway for a short escape. We came upon the Rainforest Inn in Cameron Highlands and it looked interesting. It was everything we expected it to be. The Inn is located 15 minutes drive away from the Ringlet Shell Station. The little road leading up to the inn is difficult to find. However, one of the owners, Mr. Ong and his wife were very helpful. They told me to give them a ring when I arrived at Ringlet and they came to meet me and guided me to the Inn. The location was secluded from the main amenities and if you don't have a car of your own, it may proof to be difficult to move about. However, the owners are always very helpful and will be more than happy to assist you with transport arrangements. We love buildings as everything was handcrafted from scratched by the Orang Asli (indigeneous). And what we love most is that we were able to bring our dogs along. It's very difficult to find vacation places where we can bring them along in Malaysia. The surroundings were beautiful and we truly enjoyed being surrounded by the sound of nature. The sound of flowing water was like a lullaby for us. The Orang Asli meal was delicious and everyone who stays there should try it. For RM30 per person, it was real value for money. I loved chatting with owners Mr. Ong and John too. They were very helpful with information about places to visit, construction of the long house etc. Thank you for the lovely hospitality. However, being in the rainforest, bring mosquito repellent as they do come out in throngs in the evenings. Oh yeah, for those who are particular, note that they have proper toilets and there is hot water in the shower. The tea is a must try.
Great experience in Cameron”
The room is basic, but it is really special to experience Orang Asli houses. Modern toilets are built separately and clean. The environment is top notch. If you like nature and outdoor, this is a must stay place in Cameron. The stream and small waterfall are beautiful and kids love it. The native dinner is interesting and must try. The owner and staff is really friend. The sumpit (blowpipe weaspon) and all the traps used by Orang Asli are really an eye opener. We stayed one night at Rain Forest Inn and another night in a four star hotel at Brinchang. I would say Rain Forest Inn should get a five star comparatively. :) Going to stay here longer next time.
Amazing experience ”
The Rain Forest Inn is a perfect choice for anyone looking for an authentic experience in the Cameron Highlands. The customer service is beyond expectations, each guest is treated with so much care and attention. The food cooked by the Orang Asli (the indigenous group in Malaysia) is fantastic, healthy and tasty. The location is fantastic, close to the waterfall and the rainforest, it provides a space for relaxation, but also explorations of the natural environment.
We had a lovely stay at Rain Forest Inn. We were five adults looking for an authentic and relaxing place to stay while visiting the highlands, and we found it! Everything about the Rain Forest Inn was lovely - the food, the hosts, the accommodations, the setting, and the communication. This lodging is appropriate for couples, families, solo travelers, and adults. We really enjoyed interacting with our hosts and learning from them. We also loved relaxing around the property and freshening up in the river. Highly recommended!
An extraordinary trip, back to nature”
The 'hidden gem' in Cameron Highlands where you can experience aboriginal culture ('Semai' tribe) and back to nature simple life. Superb friendly staffs. The minimal facilities are balanced by spotless service and a staff eager to create great experiences for visitors. Must try their native's meal for dinner (the meals are cooked native style on wood fire). Wonderful waterfall besides the lodge - crystal clear cool water. The waterfall is safe enough for children to play. If you are looking for a rain forest experience, it's worth staying here.
A holiday destination with a difference”
If you are looking for a little getaway from the city, right in the middle of a rainforest, Rainforest Inn might be the answer. Alright, it is not exactly in the middle of a rainforest, but, close. The thing my family and I like most about Rainforest Inn is the fact that this homestay is right next to a pristine river and waterfall, which is out of bounds to outsider. The river water is so clear you can see the little fishes swimming. As the homestay is closed to outsiders, children can roam freely and safely within its huge compound. For those who just want to laze around with a book, there are hammocks around. The owners Mr Ong and Mr John, and their families are superb in their service. They are friendly and would happily provide any information you need regarding Orang Asli lifestyle, places to visit in Cameron Highlands, activities to do etc. The only downside to this homestay is the fact that the rooms do not come with attached bath/toilet. Not only do we have to walk out of our rooms in the middle of the night to answer nature's call, we have to share 2 showers and 2 toilets with the rest of the guests. A little inconvenient, but in retrospect, this is perhaps what makes the stay even more authentic. This is exactly how many orang asli still live, with very little modern amenities. So, if you are game to try out the Orang Asli lifestyle, Rainforest Inn is definitely the place for you.
Hidden treasure valley.”
It was excellent. Best staff service and guidance. We were guided by the staff into forest, the staff greated us with afternoon local tea. The waterfall is clean and cold. We ordered the dinner package it was nice. Woke up the next day with breakfast served for us. Cakes, eggs, toast, beverage on your choice. After breakfast was a mini activity about how local tribe hunts. You can experience the darts blowing, how traps are set . Overall was great. It was quiet. If you are looking for getting away from city life .Rain forest inn is recommended.
A very nice place out of the busy lifes & let yrself calm down with great air & weather”

Waterfall, Nature Dinner, Activity”
Nice place to stay.. a bit far from "other" place.. first time a bit worried especially if you bring small kids but finally happy staying here... In the morning, marketing people whatsapp me for resevation and dinner confirmation. Arrived at Petronas Ringlet and she bring me to resort area. She told us about 15KM from petronas ringlet.. if u driving, road condition acceptable.. but parking very limited. 4-5 cars max(but most of resort guest are tourist, so they mostly not drive).. once u arrive, its hard to go outside again to buy something.. so must plan... The resort area very clean.. room just a place for sleep.. no tv, fan, aircond etc.. toilet also at outside but got heater. 1st thing to do once u arrive is go to waterfall :) my kids very happy n enjoy the waterfall.. Dinner also very good.. they told us its halal food. staff also very friendly. Some people may have hard sleep due to waterfall sound... but i'm very happy with that.. there are also some activities arrange by nature people on next day such as blowpipe and animal trap.. also some jungle tracking which we dont have time for that.. very good activities especially for my kids.. In summary, we enjoy staying here...they offering something different experience for us... might come again next time...
Great place to stay”
We had a really nice stay at Rain Forest Inn, Gee Tatt and his wife are willing to spend time with their guests and give them tips about the region. Facilities are -of course- not 5* but were even better than expected for such a place. Native dinner and breakfast were great!
Hanging out in style”
Wonderful people and a wonderful place, I would give 6 stars if I could. As outdoor enthusiasts and environmentally-minded people, we appreciated Rainforest Inn commitment to sustainable management practices and the features they provided for their guests to truly connect with and appreciate nature. The symphony at night from the forest and waterfall made this the most unique of any hotel or guesthouse stays we've enjoyed. Plus, the breakfast and native dinner were delicious and beautifully arranged. And of course a huge thank you to the gracious host, who both make everyone feel at home in this rainforest setting. I am so glad that we found the inn, this is a very special place if you're a nature lover looking for a quiet retreat off the beaten path.
Great Place to Relax ”
I would strongly recommend to stay at this inn as it offers total different experience compared to 'typical' Cameron Highland stay. It is a native place far away from busy town. You can have total mind relaxing and close to nature. The staffs are friendly and helpful.
Great escape to the Nature”
They were so kind, they lead us to the Inn which is actually deep into the forest. The moment we started to enter to the narrow road, the experience was so adventures which we have no idea where the small road will lead us. The location was so nature, we will need to cross bamboo'Titi', walked all the way up to our cute bamboo hut.You can chose the room that you like.Awesome experience was sleeping covered by mosquito net! So 'romantic'. Owh ya! Need to really give LIKES to the dinner! Native home cooked dinner! worth paying with such yummy dinner with excellent service from the staff! Feel touched that Malaysia have such beautiful Inn! Wonderful escape for me!!!!
Relaxing and back-to-nature experience”
Getting there is a little hassle. location is away from road. very friendly staff. Good native dinner. Good breakfast. Kids enjoy the fun playing inside the shallow river. going around compound trying to identify various vegetable and fruits variety. Toilet is separated from rooms. Thus, night time going to rest room may be a little inconvenience. Overall, this is the best place we enjoyed out of the 4D3N stays in Cameron Highland. We stayed only one night in this hotel.
Amazing Rainforest Stay near Cameron Highlands”
We stayed as a family of four with two young children as part of our trip to Cameron Highlands. This was the highlight of our trip. The rooms are quite basic, but the grounds a spacious and the food is delicious and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This is a wonderful option for travelers or families who want to relax in nature and/or learn more about the indigenous people of this part of Malaysia.
Amazing stay in an amazing place !”
The team is really friendly and helpfull. It was not easy to find by ourself the place so the team came to pick us up in town to drive us to the Inn. Rooms are traditionnals and confortables, the garden full of fruits and nices plants, the river and surrondings are beautifuls and interesting. the inn is managed by Orang Asli (locals) which is interesting because they propose you to visit village, to participate to some activities (gardening, cultural activities) linked with their community. The food (evening dinner and breakfast) was really delicious, even some fruits and vegeteables were produces directly from the garden. A superb exeprience we will remember for a long time. We recommend to stay at least 2 nights to totally enjoy the experience of the Rainforest Inn
From nature to nature experience”
Rainforest Inn is located within the orang asli villages -further from the hustle and bustle of city, stressful, fast-paced, wired life. Surrounded by nature- even the room comes from nature. A good exposure and getaway for us especially the kids - activities involved the nature surrounding the inn. Jon and Gee Tat and their staff are friendly, hospitable and provide input about the surrounding of the inn and the life of orang asli, which we may not get staying @ other accommodations. The food served is of big quantity for each to finish. A meal serving for 10pax can be eaten over 2 main meals!
Good for who wants to be in the nature with comfortable equipment”
[+] -> Very good wood home, decorations, environment, clean, mosquito net -> Waterfall -> Nature meal from the forest excellent -> Nice owner, present and helping for transportations and trips -> Scooter location -> Blowpipe presentation [-] -> Price -> Far away -> Not flexible on check in hour. -> BE WARNED !!! : We wanted a walk in the plantation tea, mossy forest and see rafflesia. He advised us to do it with his tour instead of by ourselves. He knew what we wanted but at the end we passed almostour entire day in a car (>4h) for 2 hours of nature. He disnt say that we needed so many hours of transport. The plantation tea were CLOSED on monday, he didnt say it. One picture and go. The mossy forest is only 15min walk and the guide didnt even explain a little thing. Dont expect much. We saw a Rafflesia, but in a 1h walk. Lost our day in CH. Also the chalets are close to a waterall. Its nice for who likes but dont forget its noisy.
