Comfortable stay N great outdoor hot water spa ”
It was a good decision to have stayed in Chihpen rather than downtown Taitung and a good choice to have stayed in this hotspring hotel . The hotel was close enough to the National park which was great for doing nature walks . Although we didn't pay much , we had a large room which came with a good varied Taiwanese breakfast. We really enjoyed the outdoor hotsprings which had good amenities . Staying in this hotel so close to nature and beautiful mountain views was a highlight of our visit to Taiwan. The staff was very helpful and shuttled us to town to have lunch when we arrived after the restaurant was close. There was also an hourly shuttle outside the hotel to bring one to downtown Taitung and back. . The two setbacks of this hotel was that there was no wifi in the room and the hotspring sulphur water was piped into the bathroom which meant that it was rather smelly . But it was intended to help the guests enjoy a private hotspring .

my room a bit small for the price paid. inside, bathroom also has hot water comes from hotspring. breakfast is average, comes with taiwan style breakfast (which not my taste), so i just took bread and coffee. the plus point is the hotspring in the hotel area. there's 3 pool with 3 different temperature, but all with delicate skin feeling.

Large room, beautiful view, smelly water.”
The staff was friendly, but their English was limited. There wasn't an English Menu. The location is a bit out of town so it would not be ideal if you don't have your own mode of transportation. However if you can get to the Hotel the scenery makes up for it's slight remoteness. The room was clean and comfortable. There is a large open air Hot spring on the premises that is great for relaxing. The biggest drawback is the water had a strong sulfur smell in the rooms.

Nice Hotspring, very reasonably priced hotel”
we had an upgrade to a fairly large room unexpectedly. we have two king size beds in the room enough to sleep four people. toilet facilities is a bit dated, but that is to be expected at an average chihpen hotspring hotel. the hot spring is amazing. the water contains sodium bicarbonate and is reputed to make skin feel smooth. the breakfast next day is buffet style. the choices are many like many five star hotels. the price is really reasonable

A good resort to stay away from city”
friendly and helpful staff. quiet and serene surroundings. hot spring to relax yourself. remember to bring along swim wear including a swimming cap in oder to enter the hot spring else got to purchase (swim cap cost less than $2.00 sgd). breakfast is good too. other meals got to settle at their restaurant (affordable and rather good dishes) else got to walk a distance out. nice place to be away for two to three days. nearer to get off at chihpen station and call hotel to book for cab (about 250ntd) transfer services.

Quite a moderate hotel but bathroom a bit small”
My family of eight enjoyed the hotspring very much, esp it was not crowded. There are the massage beds, water jet etc which are quite interesting. But understand that other hotel nearby has open air balcony bathttub which this hotel does not provide.One disadvantage is that the wii-fi is limited to lobby only.

A peaceful trip”
The hotel is a bit old but still clean and the room is big. The onsen (outdoor hot spring) is nice, just one problem is the hot springs smell strange (like perserved egg!!) People said because this is a natural hot springs but really don't know because it smells different from Japen onsen.

3-Star Hotel on the Tourist Circuit ”
Hotel self-describes as "austere"...and is accurate. Large bed with wooden floors, A/C, wi-fi & Sat TV. Room was VERY clean, as evidenced by the overpowering odor of Pine-Sol upon entering. Hot water comes from local hot springs (as is the case in much of this town), resulting in boiling water available at the sink/tub upon demand. Unfortunately, the sulphur smell of the hot water can overpower the room. Cold water does not smell as strong; however, the residual sulphur in the pipes is very noticeable to the taste buds. This hotel seems to be on the Chinese tour bus circuit, as there were 6-7 busses in the parking lot in the evening. We happen to stay during a tour of the Chinese National Door-Slamming Team. I think they will win gold at the world games. An option is to stay at the cottages adjacent to the main hotel. This may insulate the noise somewhat, but the sulphur issues will likely be the same.

Disappointing, didn't meet our expectations at all”
We arrived the day after a tropical storm, and the staff was very concerned with cleaning the front steps while neglecting the swimmingpool and outside terrace. The shop and restaurants were only open during small time intervals with no clear indication of opening times. The room was large (we got a four person room), with a comfortable bed. The bathroom however, was damaged by the (hot spring) sulphur water coming from the shower. Taking a shower in sulphur water was very smelly and resulted in the whole room smelling like eggs. As other reviewers of this hotel mentioned, buses stocked with chinese travellers arrived making a lot of noise and crowding the spa. We did not go into the spa because we did not feel comfortable. To have something to do we wanted to borrow the bikes and cycle to the shops (there aren't any close-by) but were not allowed to because "it would get dark soon". Two hours later it still wasn't dark. Breakfast was plenty, a lot of chinese options. We had hoped to get three days of relaxation at the resort, but after half a day all we felt was annoyance and decided to leave after 1 night.

Good fun ”
Great place. Loved the hot springs. Food was good except the breakfast was typical Taiwanese fare and not really appealing for me. WiFi only works in the lobby or by the pool so that kinda sucked but not bad to be offline for a while. Scenery is lovely. Definitely give it a go.

The staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful even tho only a few spoke any English. The breakfast buffet was very good. Hot spring cooked eggs were delicious. A must try. The hot spring area was clean and nicely landscaped with good view of mountains. Close to park area. This room had a clogged toilet and a leak in the bathroom. We told the front desk and they offered us another room. We also advise not to leave any food in the room because of ants.

The worst place i have EVER stayed in all my life.”
The ceiling was covered in toxic mold and the same with the air conditioning unit which made turning it on a death sentence. The whole room smelt loke a wet old sock due to the mold taking over the room. Breakfast was an absolute joke, i have nothing positive to say about this place which is a shame. Sorry Rainbow resort but that mold is going to make a guest very sick one day.
