        Friendly little place”

        Strong wifi, friendly staff

In the last couple of years it's become pretty difficult to find a double room (with wifi and some measure of cleanliness) anywhere in the Sukhumvit area for less than 1,000 baht. I was surprised, then, to find the Rainforest offering a room for 700. I didn't expect much for that price, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location isn't at all bad - five minutes walk to Thonglor BTS station. There isn't a whole lot in the immediate area, but you're five minutes from a few good restaurants and lots of Thai street food on soi 38. We didn't try the breakfast, but it was nice that it was included. The rooms were clean and comfortable, if a little small, and the bathroom did the job. There was a little leaking from the bathroom ceiling, but when the rain really comes down in Bangkok that isn't unusual. The best thing was the strong wifi. I work online so it's important to have a room with a good signal, and our room was great. We could also pick up the wifi of the Rex hotel next door, which is a nice backup. One problem with the room (ours was on the third floor) was that we were directly beside the BTS line. There were trains rushing by from early morning until midnight every few minutes. The window blocks a lot of the noise, but the room is far from peaceful. All in all I wouldn't be averse to staying at rainforest again when I'm in Bangkok on a budget. There are many better places in town, but it's hard to beat this price.

        Good price for the location

Rainforest Guest House is clean, economical and in a great location near trendy Thong Lor. The staff were very polite and helpful. One staff member was greatly concerned when I could not eat my breakfast, I explained it was not the food, but that I didn't feel well. The downside is the lack of atmosphere, traffic noise and hospital type decor. But if you want to be in Thong Lor and save your pennies, its the place to be.

Great budget place to stay in Bangkok”

The Rainforest Guesthouse is a short walk from the Thong Lo BTS and gives easy access to all of Bangkok. The room was quite small but perfectly adequate with a decent shower. Everything is clean and the staff are very nice people. The owner could not be nicer and is very helpful. There is a nice breakfast, toast and jam, fried egg and good quality coffee ( you can also use the fridge, so I added my own yoghurt) - I found this set me up till lunchtime. If you want a good budget place in the heart of Bangkok I fully recommend this guesthouse.

        Friendly service and great location”

Friendly service, near BTS,affordable, free Wi Fi,aircon and free breakfast for double room.

The people who run the place are very friendly.Even though there's no elevator they'll still carry your luggage up the stairs.Double bed with air con, free internet,TV cost me only 700 baht around Christmas time when other hotels offering the same or less were double the price. It's next to a BTS(you'll need to walk for about 5 minutes to reach the stairs to enter the BTS)but it will still save you a lot of money from having to use taxi. Can use skytrain to get to Siam where Paragon and MBK are for only 30 baht oneway. The guesthouse is not far from Ekkamai, which has a bus station if you're arriving after a long trip or if you want to travel somewhere remote in Thailand or to the Cambodian border by bus.Ekkamai also has McDonalds,KFC,Swensen,MK,Japanese food etc. For those wanting to experience the red light district it's only 20 baht skytrain and 2 stop journey to Asok and a little bit further to get to Nana. The cheaper rooms(single bed with no aircon and fan only) don't have hot water though. The room I had for double bed was nearly same size as rooms for other hotels that cost double the price to stay per night.Room size for single bed is small though. The room presentation isn't the best, not dirty, but you see a bit of paint peeling but hey it's 2 star but at least it's not dirty. The breakfast available is egg with toast so be aware of that when you see the more expensive rooms offering breakfast. The hotel is not far from many street food areas(for cheap and delicious Thai food)and not far from Whilne Connection(which has a bar and restaurants and supermarket). I stayed in 2 different rooms at different periods,in one of the TV didn't work but not a big deal for me since I don't watch much TV. Also, the hotel is next to a road that's busy 24/7 which can be a pro or a con.The pro is it means it's safe to walk around that area late at night because there's always cars driving past and less chance of getting robbed(remember BKK can be a dan

Decent little guest house in a very good location right on Sukhumvit Road. Had a room on the third floor facing the road- and yes, there is no elevator. Of course there was street noise but I found it still bearable. Room was basic but clean, air-con and WiFi worked well. There are no amenities in the room except two miniature bottles of shower gel. Breakfast consisted of 1 fried egg, 3 slices of toast, some spread and jam, coffee or tea. Payment only in cash. Overall still a good deal for such location.

Budget hotel close to public transport”

        Location, easy to find

This hotel is very much "budget", but not bad. You just need to expect what you've paid for. It is located within 2 min walk of Thong Lo station of Sky train, and is right on main Sukhumvit St, so very easy to find. I would actually rate it on the level similar to "backpackers" with the only difference being every room has it's own private bathroom (albeit tiny one). Rooms are very small. Beds are OK, but linen is of a cheap variety and is not changed throughout your stay (I stayed for 6 nights). You have to ask for the room to be serviced specifically and even then it's only tidied up, really: I was given 1 small (standard hotel size) bar of soap on arrival and that has never been replenished throughout my stay (6 nights), so you need to bring your own soap with you :). Hotel is noisy day and night as it looks out on Sukhumvit and Sky train line. There is breakfast offered and it's allright: choice of fruit and youghurt or eggs on toast. Great fast Wi-Fi internet included in room rate-that was fantastic! Be aware that there is no staff at the desk betweem 9pm and 8am. I've booked this hotel lasy year and at that time I saw it physically passing by, so made a booking in person at the front desk, paid IN FULL in cash and got a receipt and explained carefully that I will be arriving the next week at 1am (in the middle of the night). I was repeatedly assured that all I need to do is call the number provided and someone will come over to let me in. Well, I started calling from a taxi on my way from the airport and the phone was turned off. I've called 15 times-all to no avail. S I was left standing in the middle of Bangkok in the dead of night with rain pouring down on me. I had to take a room next door-at the Rex hotel, which costs THREE times the price of Rainforest and the next morning wasn't offered much beyond the shrug of shoulders by Rainforest staff. Otherwise it's OK budget hotel (lower end of the spectrum)

        Simple rooms, great cafe”

        Bed was very comfortable

this guest house is a bit of a trek from the main tourist spots in bangkok, but it's just a couple of minutes walk to the nearest sky train station so that is definitely a bonus. my room faced sukhumvit road so the traffic and trains were a bit noisy. if you are a light sleeper i would ask for a room that doesn't face the street. the rooms are basic but comfortable. i slept like a log in the comfy bed. the cafe in the lobby has great fruit drinks and coffee. the breakfast was also good! nice staff as well!

Excellent place to stay in BKK”

        Location, staff, rooms, ambiance

I usually like to stay in Rainforest Guesthouse when I go to BKK. The staff is really helpful, the rooms are correct (though don't expect a superior quality), the lobby very nice to chill out at and the location impeccable. I have been there several times and I keep repeating. BTS is at hand (few meters walk), it's in Sukhumvit road and the price is usually one of the best in Agoda for BKK. Nothing I can add except that I will keep repeating in there for as long as things keep the same way as currently :-)

        A great place to stay1”

This guest house was perfect for me. A quiet, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and a simple nice breakfast every morning. It's location is a big plus, a short walk to the BTS sky train station which allows you to travel easily around Bangkok. Some good restaurants, cafes, and shops near by and it is away from the more crowded and lively areas of the city. Very reasonably priced, I will return on my next trip to Bangkok!

Cheap, clean rooms and really nice staff”

        Don't hesitate !!! Really good price/qualityratio

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Rainforest Guesthouse for 4 days in July 2012. The room had just the necessary : a double bed with clean, air conditionning and a clean bathroom with hot water. It was a bit basic but we were just in our room at night so we had all we needed. The staff is really nice and helpful. They offered to keep our suitcase for free while we went around Thailand with our backpacks. The neighbourhood is not too touristy which is nice because you can find cheap and good restaurants. The guesthouse is well communicated with two BTS stations near (Phrom Phong and Thong Lo on the Sukhumvit line).

        Lovely little guest house”

I would definitely recommend this lovely little guest house conveniently located in-between two BTS stations. Staff is lovely, sweet and so helpful. Nice little breakfast included and beautiful service. Rooms are cosy and have everything a simple traveller needs. Hot shower and not noisy even though located along a big street. I would highly recommend this guest house!

        travelling alone”

It's a great small hotel with the greatest location, easily accessible for going all around town.....all this hotel needs is a small portable refrigerator...so you can enjoy a cool drink of water when you enter your cozy room....noise from outside cannot be avoided...because it's Bangkok....unless the hotel replaces more sound proof thermal windows....but look!...the price is excellent and affordable...I love the great hardworking staff of this hotel from housekeeping to the management level....Hope to return to Thailand soon....:)

Very helpful staff, ealthy breakfast and spotless!”

This guest house was a real find in every way! Perfact for my needs--spotless and with staff you went out of their way to accommodate my late arrival! My room was somewhat noisy next to a main roads, which some might not like, but it's not something I'm not used to, and it's other virtues more than made up for that! Very close to the BTS, too. I've already recommended it to friends!
