    Friendly place to stay”

The Raingsey Bungalows are a great place to stay to explore Kep and Kampot. They are very convenient for Kep National Park, the Crab Market and other places to see. The staff are really helpful and friendly and the pool is a great way to spend some chill time

A great place to stay in Kep!”

    Location, surroundings, great service

We booked this hotel on impulse after our hotel in nearby Kampiot failed to live up to our expectations. And we're really glad we did otherwise we may have missed this true gem of a hotel. After a smooth and friendly check-in we were given room 9, tucked away in one corner of the pool area, and away enough to feel somewhat secluded from other (few) guests staying in the hotel. The pool and dining areas are exceptional, with staff always attentive to anything you might want or need. The new French owners, though understandably nervous, are very keen to make sure you enjoy your stay and genuinely seem to want honest feedback. I have to say she is very lucky to have a team that inherently understand customer service and have a real sense of investment in their jobs - couldn't be faulted at any stage. Rooms are spacious, and quite quirky - loved the bathroom, even if there were the occasional water pressure issues, though this is to be expected given the location. The hotel itself is really convenient to the Crab market - a short, and fairly pleasant walk down the hill. Beware though, as we'd decided to extend our walk around the Kep Beach and the "old town". Kep Beach, though it looks like a short walk, is a fair distance, and the Old Town is much, much further...definitely not one to be undertaken in the heat of the day as we did! Not sure whether we ever did actually find the old town - we found mostly just a collection of very few old French-style villas and walls crumbling into the surrounding countryside from what we could see. However, Kep is a really relaxed place, and just that little bit more special than nearby Kampot which really doesn't have that spark. I'd definitely recommend this hotel for any traveller passing through Kep - enjoy it for what it is, and you won't be at all disappointed

    Location, Food, Peaceful Retreat

This was my second stay at Raingsey and I enjoyed my stay just as much as the first time. Since our last visit a Petanq/Boule pitch has been made which is a nice addition. The resort is only 10 mins walk to the crab market or sailing club or if you don't want to walk the helpful staff will organise a moto hire from Toucan for $8 a day.

Great bungalows in lovely garden setting”

Large rooms, nice pool, very good breakfast

Only short walk to Crab Market and it's restaurants and bars and generally a tuk tuk driver close by if you want to go to Kep Beach or restaurants a nit further away. Walk up the road the other way to Kep National Park. Owner and staff are friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions if you don't want to eat at Raingsey. Have stayed there in the past and would happily stay again.

    Hidden gem and peaceful surroundings”

    Location, Food, Peaceful Retreat

Located less than a 10 minute walk from the Crab Market, Sailing Club and the Kep National Park, Raingsey Bungalow is ideally situated on the hillside. Nice sunset view from the upper deck above the bar and great food - make sure you request to try Japanese selection which is a specialty of the owner/chef.

Very pleasant bungalow in nice gardens. ”

Close to Crab Market. Quiet area. Nice pool.

Nice bungalow if slightly unusual open plan design. Toilet and shower are at rear of bungalow. No door on toilet or shower curtain for shower. Also air conditioner on rear wall not that effective as it blows onto the three quarter internal wall which the bed is on he other side of. Would be better if air con was on front wall. Bed was very comfortable. Bungalow is good size with nice little balcony out front. Nice pool and staff friendly and helpful Would stay again

beautiful hotel but open plan bathrooms”

    pool, vegetation, cat and dogs

The surroundings of this small hotel are lovely and restful. The cabins are nicely decorated. However make sure you are good friends with your travel partners because there is no door to any part of the bathroom and you cannot even go from the shower to the sink without being seen through the front sliding doors of the room. Unfortunately the staff and owner were not knowledgeable about the area and many had little English. The young owner, from Singapore, is working to improve the appearance of the hotel and so far has done a nice job. There are some lovely touches, such as the candles put round the pool in the evening. We had the 2 bedroom cabin and the second bedroom does get very hot. I took the mat hanging over the door down to allow the air con to get into the room. It was sleepable. The cat and 2 dogs are very friendly but not intrusive. My grandson spent much of his time looking for the cat, Moy, and cuddling her. The hotel was very clean.

    An oasis”

    attention to detail, clean, peaceful

After dusty travel and challenging border crossings, Raingsey is a true oasis. With a pool you can't wait to submerge yourself into and gardens in which you could lounge forever, the tranquility here is amazing. The attention to detail bespoke the owner, down to the AC placed so as not to blow directly on the bed, the separate WC, French Jams at breakfast and excellent coffee! The second floor is the perfect height for sunset watching. Just a short walk to the crab market topped it off as convienient as well.

    Lovely and well located”

Perfect location, excellent room with a big bathroom and hot shower, beautiful grounds and pool. The staff was friendly and very helpful. My only complaint is that they charged extra for eggs and again for bacon at breakfast, which was unexpected at this price point. (And I say that having traveled extensively in Cambodia.)

    third visit”

owner/Beatrix very accommodating. calm seclusion. has a certain je ne sais que.

Third visit to Raingsey, first with new owner who is trying hard to improve the resort. New fridges, safes and tea and coffee facilities in rooms. Our room recently refurnished and new flooring fitted. The pool area is a delight, with new relaxing furniture and sunbeds. The only criticisms I have, is the sporadic supply of hot water, which give Beatrix her due she called in a plumber immediately in an attempt to rectify the problem. And the a/c which needs attention as it is quite noisy. Having said this if I were to make a fourth visit to Kep, I would go nowhere else.

    Great weekend at Raingsey”

The bungalow had a room for the kids; the pool was great; the breakfast was fantastic.

Overall, it was a great trip and a nice place to stay. It was pretty deserted this past weekend, so it was really quiet, and even if busy there are only 9 bungalows. We were really impressed with the breakfast, the pool, and the staff were friendly. The only downside I would have to say is that the main bedroom is not separated to the kid's bedroom by a door, but rather a "curtain" and the same would go for the bathroom. So there was less privacy than desired than having a door on both of these rooms. We'd stay there again. It was a very peaceful place despite the construction next door that started way too early (but just about on time for Cambodia!)

    new owner, bad experience”

    location

We booked the "family room with 2 interconnecting rooms", for 4 people, 2 adults and 2 children. We came with 3 adults, 2 children and 1 infant (80 year old grandma in tow). Immediately the foreign "new owner" clarified that this was "impossible". She said the infant was ok but we would have to pay for an extra mattress on the floor for grandma, at $20 per night. I felt this was high and offered that we would just push the two twin beds together, but she ruled this out again as "impossible". As it was mid-day (very hot), we were all tired and the baby was ready for bed, I agreed and unpacked the car. About 15 minutes later we prepared our picnic lunch at the table on the porch. The owner came over again and said this was again "impossible" - no food to be eaten at the porch table or apparently anywhere else unless it has been purchased from the hotel. At this point I realized that the owner was unreasonable and did not know how to host families from the country in which this hotel is located. My wife proceeded to chew her out to which the owner said she would give us our money back. She came back with cash that covered 70% of the total fee, but being of the conflict avoidance type I was silent and my wife and I discussed that we should just leave anyways since the hotel "welcome" had not gone well. So, 30 minutes after arriving, with crying baby, tired grandma and exhausted kids, we packed the car and left for a nearby hotel of much better value and service. IN SUMMARY: This hotel is NOT geared toward families, especially from certain Asian countries including the host country (quoting the owner). She seems to be looking for singles or couples only from Western countries who will sit quietly and follow her rules. In a place like Kep with dozens of other new places at better value that are very welcoming, I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

    lovely spot”

    position, pool, garden

We loved our stay in this lovely bungalow hotel. The pool and surrounds are beautiful and it is a five minute walk down to the crab market and eating shacks. It was peaceful and it is easy to get a tuktuk at the bottom of the road. You need a torch to get home when it is dark and the bathroom door is just a louvre door, but if you are good friends with your room mate that shouldn't be a problem. The staff are all friendly and there is a kettle in the room which is always a bonus.
