The cool breeze is more than sufficient for you to be able to sleep and minimize mosquitos (although mosquito nets are also provided).

Just book this place!”
Having spent 5 days here, Doberai Private Island has set the standard for what I look for in a holiday accomodation. Special mention goes out the wonderful staff who were so welcoming, friendly and seemed genuinely to help. This combined with the gorgeous setting, the peacefulness and the great food, made it hard to say goodbye. 10/10 would recommend.
Hi Mark, We are so glad to hear that your holiday here in Doberai was succesfull. We are hoping to see you again someday! Love, Doberai team
An amazing location offering total escape, we stayed in the eco bungalows which are over the water. The peace and tranquility was exactly what we were looking for, the staff are friendly and the food is good. The dive centre offer a good service with Ady running the show, its worth noting that you only have power supply between 6pm and 11pm. It made no difference to us, we absolutely loved our stay in the peace and quiet
Hi Bernard, We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Doberai. Our staff is more than happy to hear that. Hopefully we see you again someday. Love, Doberai team
Great way of experiencing the local life in a fine and beautiful located bungalow”
The owner’s goal is to let the guests experience how the papuan people of raja ampat live. Thats the reason that there are eco bungalows. Beautiful over water bungalows, with a great view; no airco or hot water, but with sea water shower and a regular toilet. We loved the room and had no difficulties with the temperature at night. Some other guests slept at the veranda on the couch. During our stay there were no mosquito’s. The front side of the bungalow is open and you have a great view towards an island. Around this island there is a great snorkle and dive area. The staff is friendly and helpfull. And there is enough to experience especially when you like snorkling or diving. We recommend this resort to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of raja ampat combined with the simplicity of local life and for anyone who is eco-minded and likes peace and tranquillity.
A paradise ”
Perfect location, the private island is surrounded by beautiful healthy coral reef., perfect place for snorkeling. Staffs are very friendly and helpful, they can arrange for anything that you request, trip to Piaynemo Island hopping, diving , snorkeling by boat with snorkeling guide ...... The foods are very good . I stayed at the Deluxe beach front Bungalow for 5 nights, very comfortable. The Bungalow need to be upgrade, especially the timber floor , it’s quite sticky and the bathroom water is quite salty too , can be improve by proper filtration. Just a little bit touch up it will be a perfect place , a paradise.
A little slice of paradise ”
The bungalows over the small lagoon are fantastic, the resort setting is awesome , plenty to do on the island (kayak, snorkel , walk in jungle), friendly staff , great atmosphere and good Indonesian food And besides the usual baby black tips and small rays, we even had dugongs swimming in front or our bedroom
I'll be honest, Raja Ampat has been on my bucket list for a while after being seduced by some images I saw while boarding a Garuda flight. Okay, so I wanted to go to Raja Ampat but where should I go? I decided on the Doberai Private Island and do not regret my choice for an instant. The location is absolutely spectacular! Forget about being surrounded by hordes of people -- you are one or two people sharing one of 16 bungalows -- 8 over water and with no a/c and 8 on land with a/c -- on the entire island. Don't be concerned about the bungalows over water being cool enough to sleep. The cool breeze is more than sufficient for you to be able to sleep and minimize mosquitos (although mosquito nets are also provided). Bugs are not a problem at all. The staff are accommodating and fantastic. The food is plentiful (in actual fact, almost too much for this bule) well-presented asian and european delicacies. I will certainly be returning. Thanks to Rika, Suriya, Bennie and crew
Nice but wood bug (roach) infested. ”
Stayed in the eco huts on the sea. The rooms were spacey and the staff realy nice. Food is okay but there isn't a big voriety. Problem is, the rooms are infested with bugs there for we had to leave early.
Came as a guest and left as a friend”
Perfect organised pickup from Sorong Airport to the ferry and from Waisai to the Resort. Suriah was a wonderful guide and friend - thank you so much! The Eco Bungalows direct in the water had everything that you could expect in such a remote area. The food was nice and so tasty - thanks to Anton and the kitchen-Team! Best time to stay there is definitively October till April! We have been there in June - also good but more wind and waves! Diving and snorkeling is amazing and you will find so many different spots there. Rika - the owner - tried to make everything running well and did a perfect job! When you plan to go there you will have a great time there if you are able to enjoy a basic life without any special luxury!
Wonderful stay in an enchanting location”
We had a fantastic 7 days for our honeymoon. It's important to have the right expectations: if you're looking for a 5 star hotel this is not the place, but if you want to live close to nature then it definitely is. We stayed in the eco bungalow: nights are sweaty & damp, shower has slightly salty water and you won't find a fan nor A/C, but this is part of the charm! You wake up and see fish, (small) sharks, turtles swimming around your room, you can dive straight in! Limited connectivity allows you to focus on yourself, your books and Raja Ampat. The owner, ibu Rika, is a wonderful person and was very helpful throughout. The staff are very friendly. Food was local and excellent. Excursions were great, the manta ray sighting was a highlight as was Mushroom Island. We did not dive, but we heard it was great, snorkelling was amazing in and of itself. Raja Ampat isn’t cheap and frankly shouldn’t be. It’s a jewel and we hope fervently it will not be destroyed by mass tourism.
The island is the perfect place to disconnect, is super wild! It’s a pity that the water closed to the beach has so many plastics. Super recommendable if you love diving, even the boat leaves you in your cottage! The cottages are completely in the nature, you listen all its sounds :)
Fantastic location, great friendly staff especially Suria and always good Indonesian food.”
Snorkeling was amazing. Rooms over the water fun but very hot at night as no breeze or fans
6 NIghts in the Air-Conditioned Rooms Section.”
We opted to pay more for the A/C, but did not realise the power was by noisy generator and would regularly not be on. It was rated 1 star, (which we missed in the sourcing of Raja Ampat destinations). • We are confident that with very little extra effort, this could easily grow to 3 maybe 4 star with increased staff oversight and generally improved management. Food was buffet basic, too much stodgy sweet stuff and not enough variety in the fruit selection for a tropical destination • All in all we had a delightful and very private holiday, met some lovely fellow travellers in the process. So besides a few rough edges, safety concerns with the boat handler fuel, miss performing scuba gear, poor choice of location for our first boat dive, MIA and non-attentive Dive Master on our second boat dive, it was great. • House-reef snorkel and night spotlighting of Crown of Thorns starfish was a highlight. Beaches are clean and tidy, but maintenance in general could be improved substantially.
The Eco Bungalows were breathtaking beautiful on open water with an amazing view over the sea. The location of this resort is one of a kind. It's a small Island, localted just half an hour away, by boat transfer (what will be arranged by Raja Ampat Doberai Private Island) from Waisai. The staff at the Resort are very friendly and willing to assist you with everything. The cook, mr. Anto, is preparing the daily meals and he does it fantastic. He is able to surprise his guests every time during the three meals a day. I would recommend everybody to take the opportuntiy to visit this Resort when you have the intention to enjoy your Holiday in Raja Ampat.
A Blissful Retreat”
The location of Doberoi is absolutely stunning, a lush green island with soft sandy beaches. The bungalows and restaurant are in a sheltered bay with calm clear water and coral reefs. Waking up and falling asleep to the sound of waves lapping in an over water bungalow was so restful. Strolling along the wooden walkway to the restaurant you can spot the little black tip shark pups that have made the area their nursery. Doberai is run by a welcoming family and their team of friendly and helpful staff. Food is varied, home cooked and delicious. The dive team were excellent and it was so wonderful to see such healthy reefs. You can snorkel and kayak around the island any time and trips can be arranged to other islands for trekking or snorkelling. It's a great place to be active and explore, or just completely relax!
Perfect retreat - we are thanksful”
It was so beautiful! I/we felt like arriving in a hidden paradise place! All the bungalow has an exceptional view over another wild island and the Sea! Not much Internet access, that way you can really enjoy what it's worth it: nature (sky/milky way/shooting stars/marine life) and people you stay with. We've met such a nice banch of people over there! I can only advice to go there...and foood was delicious! Everyday you would be served entry, main course & dessert like chocolate cake..morning you have fresh bread! Was really fantastic ^^! Many thanks to all the Doberai Private island Team!
Awesome spot ”
Doberai is really three separate resorts connected to each other by a path or boat. There is Delux with large comfortable individual bungalows set back from the beach with air con. There is the dive center and there is Eco where I stayed. As of August 2018 Eco has seven over the water bungalows. Five remodeled, one getting renovated and one older style. All with En Suite bathrooms. The Eco rooms are very private and comfortable, each with a deck perfect for swimming at high tide. Electricity is from 5pm to 11pm but it’s fine. Though the comfortable bed has mosquitoe netting I didn’t see any the whole week there. Every meal the Indonesian food was varied. I asked Indonesian guests if it was what they ate and they said yes. You will get more than enough variety and quantity. Of course the staff was great. Rika and visiting daughter Aisha were wonderful guests. Boat ride to and from Waysai is included in the room cost. Since the boat travels on open water PLAN to get wet.
end of the world beauty”
it's a combination of beauty, primitiveness and tranquility, the outmost ones you can get. The cabins on water give fantastic views, morning sunshine, afternoon rain, dreamy sunset, and milkyriver at night. Host lady Rika was super nice, recommended us the nice snorkle spots around the islands. We kayaked everyday (free for guests) around the islands, there are several islands and sandy beaches to explore, the sandy beach on the second island next to Urai big island is a good spot for snorkling/sun bathing, schools of fish can be found there. The good snorkle side is the stretch from diving center to the island facing the cove. Night snorkle will encounter millions plankton, itchy allover. Meals are good, fried fish or chicken. The shower water is salty so you have to sleep with sticky skin and sticky bedding, sleep is the hard part, otherwise the resort is superb . no internet, totally isolated, better arrange pick-up ahead of time.
Priceless honeymoon gateaway”
Staying in remote area, bear in mind that there would be no luxury to spoil us.So, the cottage was OK.Though I must say, lockable back doors&windows for privacy(they are working on it)and a little fresh water by the end of the day would have made the stay perfect. But worry not. Those two things were nothing if compared to the experience we had here.Exceptional ! The location was prime, secluded but no more than 30 minutes by boat to Waisai. So tranquil,as if the whole island was ours.Perfect spot for our honeymoon. The surrounding left us breathless,we already miss it on the boat leaving for Waisai to get home. What also made us didnt wanna leave was the services. The crews were remarkably friendly,we loved chatting with them, especially Gondrong&Ai who kept us companied through our stay.Mrs. Rika, the owner, provide us her very much personal touch in every opportunity, anytime possible. She even arrange surprise romantic dinner complete with wine&cake. Our stay was definitely a great time :)
Incredible getaway location”
The island is secluded and peaceful. Snorkeling is great, kayaking around the island and surrounding smaller ones is great. Food (3 meals/day) is varied and very good, we were impressed. Bungalows are nice, over water, open to air. Take mosquito repellent if that's a worry. Very limited cell and internet service, though resort is working on this. Would go again because the location is that good.
beautiful location but most disappointing experience”
The hotel is located in a beautiful place, amazing views. however we left days early due to the fact the staff was so unhelpful. We had pre arranged all our diving however when you got there they claimed they didn't know we wanted to dive, so spent half the day waiting around for them to organized their things. This happened again the following day, and the day after. We arranged a morning dive however no one was to be found, we had to walk to the other side of the island to find someone to only then be told boat was broken. No one thought to tell us hours before when they saw us sitting their waiting at breakfast time. We spend most of our days chasing the staff around to get the things we asked for, such as a glass of water. It was so disappointing, we had waited years to go dive in such a beautiful place to be treated by the staff that we were a bother. We were so frustrated and disappointed that we decided to leave early rather then spend our days waiting around for the staff to finally show up.
Take a look at these facilities:
