Great Stay, perfect location!”
We were skeptical at first but after staying for 4 days, I'd say Grand View Hotel is the most practical hotel I've ever stayed at in HK. The price of the hotel is pretty cheap compared to other hotels that offer the same room space. We booked a city view room and got upgraded to a family room which was very delightful. Complete with the common items it even has a bathtub and consistent flow of hot water. The housekeepers kept our room tidy, after a long city tour, a tidy room is a must. A lot of people complain about the market in front of the hotel, but we certainly didn't mind because the smell that greeted us was as authentic as it could get. Besides, the hotel doesn't even smell like the market anyway. The tram terminal is at the end of road, around 3 min walk away from the hotel and the North Point MTR is just 5 mins away. Perfect if you plan to around the key places in Hong Kong, including Ocean Park! Don't hesitate, book this hotel!
5 mins walk to North Point MTR. Right at the centre of a wet market, close to convenience stores, supermarkets, food. The iconic Hong Kong tram (ding ding) also passes right in front of the hotel at the North Point terminus. An ideal location for people who like to experience the daily lives of the locals. Rooms are also bigger than normal hotels. Facilities are well-maintained and clean. Wifi connection is strong at all levels. Hotel also provide regular shuttle bus service to Hong Kong MTR (ideal for those who take Airport Express) or nearby areas (Central / Sheung Wan). My one complaint is the toilet flush, which you need to hold for a while before it works. There is also a rooftop pool at the top floor but we did not have time to check it out. Overall, an awesome experience and will consider this hotel again,
My home in North Point”
This was just one of my many stays in this hotel the last few years. I prefer staying at this hotel since my mother's apartment is just a few meters away from this hotel. The wet market is just outside the hotel. Rooms are relatively bigger compared to other hotels in North Point. Overall, very good stay in Ramada Hong Kong Grand View Hotel. - Mr. F. Tiu
Value for money!”
I was travelling on a budget trip with my girlfriend and her mother to Hong Kong and we needed an affordable room which we can share but also have our privacy. Luckily enough, we found the Family / Superior Suite at the Ramada Grand View Hotel. Location was not too far off the city (about 3-4 stations ride) and was located near TONS of great food locations. They also offer a free bus shuttle to and from the Central station so that saved us a lot of money. Staff was friendly and assisted us whenever we needed assistance. Will surely recommend to any budget travellers who are in a group.
Location is at the heart of a typical, popular Hong-Kong area. If you need luxury Western style, maybe this is not the best place, but if you want to spend some time experiencing real life Hong-Kong this Hotel is great. * Staff is friendly and helpful. * Room is a very good compromise for the price. Compare of course to the very high price of the Hong-Kong area. * Location is great. Just in the street of North Point market. All around shopping is everywhere. This is the area to get good bargain on the island.
Right inn the heart of the local food markets and bustling with cultural activity”
Although our taxi driver did his best to suggest we were staying in the worst area of Hong Kong we loved the location! Literally on the doorstep of the local food market with an original and genuine view of real life in Hong Kong; this location was perfect for us.. 2 mins walk to Kings Road where you were in the heart of north point and its shops, cafe's, restaurants and metro stations. Also had the tram stop (extremely cheap and a great way to get around) at the end of the road, everything at your finger tips to explore Hong Kong.
It’s like Binondo”
When you step outside the hotel the sorrounding is like Juan Luna in Binondo. Local wet market, fruits stands, restaurants and garment stores. The prices are cheaper compared to Causeway bay area. The hotel is a minute walk to the Tram North Point Terminus and this is the big plus for tourists. The MTR station and other Tram stations are also nearby. The rooms here are big not like other Hong Kong hotels and it has a bath tub in every room.
Best value, location and staff”
I stayed at the Grandview for a couple of nights a few years back. The room was older and very dated. This time the superior suite we stayed in for two weeks is much nicer. Hotel staff are friendly and competent. The location of the hotel is superb! You get a taste of everyday life: wet market, local mom and pop stores and restaurants, many excellent restaurants! MTR, bus and tram are minutes away. The North Point tram stop is almost right in front of the hotel. It was a breeze to take the hotel shuttle and in-town check-in at the Hong Kong Station on our return. Will definitely stay at the Grandview again.
Wet market means Fresh food”
The Grand View Hotel is a good value in a great area of Hong Kong. The rooms are inexpensive for the size of the rooms. People who have not visited Hong Kong before may find the rooms small but they are much larger than most rooms in a similar price range, rooms where there is so little floor space that only one person can stand at a time. Many other reviewers have complained that the entrance to the hotel is on a street that is also a wet market (shops selling fresh meat, fish, and produce). This is actually a positive in my rating of the Grand View because the result is that the surrounding area is packed with restaurants. We have returned to this area again and again and will never try them all.
Great Stay ”
We got a great deal to stay at this hotel and it's very worth it. The Location is by a wet marketplace so if your not into that, you might need to find another hotel. Room is definitely bigger compare to the other hotels we check out. Staff and facilities are nice, interior is great, I heard it just got renovated! Too bad we weren't able to check out the pool because of our busy schedule but I heard it has a great view. It's far from most attractions but it's near thhe North Point MTR so we have no problem commuting. Plus there's a lot of local restaurant you can choose from downside is the shops close early like around 7 or 8pm but there's fastfood around as well that's open. Overall we had a great stay at the hotel!!! Will gladly stay here again if we go back to Hongkong!
Good Hotel for family”
The hotel is quite old but the price of hotel is very affordable. The hotel is located in the middle of Fortress hill and North Point. Lots of restaurant near the area, jewelry stores and wet market. They also have free shuttle from hotel to hong kong station (vice-versa). We enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for your time to write us a lovely review here. It gives us great pleasure to receive your great compliment like this. We are delighted that you had a wonderful staying experience at Ramada Hong Kong Grand View. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Regards / Stanley NG / Rooms Division Manager
Value fopr money”
We stayed here last year but it has been rebranded as a Ramada property. We had a room with a great view of the harbour on the 27th floor which had everything we needed. The hotel is situated on a wet market street which can either be an attraction or a deterrent depending on you, as it can be quite smelly but it is also very interesting. Lots of small eateries near by and the metro is a 5 minute walk as well as the trams go past the front door! Overall value for money and we would stay again if in Hong Kong .
It is a grand view! ”
I got a room with a view of the harbor, and it was fantastic! I also like that the street below was a (mostly) pedestrian zone, where lots of street merchants set up their stalls to sell all sorts of items. It seems like you step from the luxurious comfort of a high class hotel into the hustle and bustle of the life of the average city dweller. The location is fabulous at North Point. There is easy MTR, bus, and tram access. Also, hidden in an alcove near the 7-Eleven on King's Road are two coin operated laundromats that are perfect for the traveler. I never ate at the hotel restaurant, because with great cheap food everywhere, why would you? The concierge desk has a luggage scale that proved invaluable for my return trip home. The only minor ding to the hotel is that the air conditioning did not seem to have any good controls on it. It was set to one type of cold and it didn't seem to get any colder.
Location is unbeatable!!! highest money changing exchange rate close to the hotel! Lots of restaurants, local grocery stores and street food stalls close to the area and the market outside sells the cheapest products but good quality! Hotel is clean and spacious for a HongKong standard room size.. bathroom has no bidet which is not good if you're Asian! Don't forget to check out their pool area at the 28th floor.. breathtaking view of Hong Kong skyline!
We enjoyed out stay”
We didn't go in with high hopes from some other reviews BUT we enjoyed our stay here. The staff were helpful, friendly and some spoke an extra language (English) which helps those who only know one. They told us about a place called Sparkle that does a good job washing clothes and brings them to the hotel when they are done. We liked the atmosphere of the market out the front and didn't find the smell a problem. It feels very local. We enjoyed catching the Ding Ding to get to places and we also caught a ferry at the North Point Pier once and were a bit surprise after walking a bit on the other side and coming across a huge boat used for... I'm not sure, but it added to the interest of our walk. I'd stay here again.
Outstanding facilites and service at great rates”
It is not often I am able to say this except in high end properties, the RGV is near all transportation, has an in house cafe and rooms which despite their age have all the basics taken care of and a few frills such as bath tub and in room.wifi router. The thing that stood out was that from when you check in the staff including the ladies cleaning the room are consistently friendly and helpful, which turns an otherwise ordinary property into a place you would want to stay at when visiting hong kong. It is hard to see how you would be it for the price.
Came to Hong Kong with my girlfriend this break. Check in was smooth and the front desk guys Mason gave us the room we asked for. The room was clean and bright. The hotel property located beside of the tram track. Check out was swift with help from Carmella. The hotel provides shuttle bus to metro terminus and that's very thoughtful! Will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends!
I was given the high floor and has a good harbour view. The room size is good and it's clean. The pressure of the shower point could be stronger, other than that, everything is fine. Like many have said, the location of the hotel is along the wet market. There will be the typical market smell when you are walking along the street. If you can deal with that, no issue. Anyway it's just a short walk to the main street. It's walking distance to the North Point MTR and many eateries around and some are the popular ones.
Great location near MTR and market ”
We’ve stayed in the Family room which is allowed for 3 people, 1 double bed and 1 single bed. There are 6 of us so we booked 2 rooms. The family room is spacious and clean. Right in front of hotel is wet market ( it’s an usual wet market smell but not that bad) and a lot stuff you can buy in the market. You can even buy Hongkong T-shirt, no need to go the Ladies Market. It’s very near to 7-eleven, MTR station, supermarket, and many restaurant around. The downside is only we think the kitchenette is provided with the stove but it’s not, but it doesnt really matter.Overall,it’s okayy. Thanks Grand View Hotel🙏
I would call it the best location if your mode of transportation was the tram. Grand View Hotel is a terminus, so you can ride her and tour the entire Hong Kong Side of the island.
