Great location, lovely pool, nice bar, and extremely helpful staff who coordinated tours to all the temples, even far away Banteay Srei.

The rooms in several small buildings give the sense of a village wrapping a lovely pool surrounded by a rich mature landscape layer.

We loved the outdoor concrete tub and shower on our balcony that overlooked the pool.

Rambutan Resort was a perfect stay for my time in Siem Reap. The resort is centrally located in easy walking distance to the markets and to Pub Street, while maintaining a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The room and pool were both beautiful and the bar and restaurant were reasonably priced and offered high quality food and drinks. The staff were unbelievably kind and helpful. My flight was delayed getting in to Siem Reap and I emailed the resort to alert them to my late arrival. They responded immediately and I was able to access my room when I arrived at 1 am and then formally checked in the next morning. Their quick response and assurances really helped me to de-stress before I even arrived at the resort! The best part was the FANTASTIC tuk-tuk driver that the staff found for me. I used the same driver for three full days of touring Angkor Wat, and he was wonderful. I could not recommend this resort more highly!
A Gem, an absolute gem of a hotel. ”
I know at least 4 of my friends who have visited this hotel in the past 12 months and all have stated they had a wonderful time. I share their sentiments. The staff are extremely courteous, polite, attentive, and efficient. All staff were great. Restaurant staff, front desk staff, bar staff, the cleaners and attendants were all friendly and willing to talk about Cambodia and the Rambutan. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The facilities in the rooms are great and equal those in much more expensive, multinational chain hotels. The restaurant food was exceptional and the prices were amazing. I would recommend to others that you let the hotel arrange your tours in and around Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. Staff must have very good superhero hearing, because I had no sooner shut my door when checking out, that one of them was at the top of the stairs eager to assist me carry the cases down the stairs. That is service. Don't be tempted by a "deal" from a cabby or a tuk tuk driver. Angkor Wat has trusted, reliable drivers who know their stuff. I hope to visit again within 12 months. Thanks Rambutan resort for your kindness and consideration to me.
Rambutan is a lovely, small boutique hotel centrally located in Siem Reap though quite and secluded. The rooms in several small buildings give the sense of a village wrapping a lovely pool surrounded by a rich mature landscape layer. We thought we had arrived in paradise it was so rejuvenating sitting by the pool. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful and took care of all of our guide and transit needs as well as extra touches like complimentary foot massages! We loved the outdoor concrete tub and shower on our balcony that overlooked the pool. We used it everyday! Breakfast was delicious and we appreciated waiter service after one too many buffets at previous hotels. This was one of our favorite hotels during a three week trip. We would return in a moment if we are back in Siem Reap. They also have a location in Phnom Penh FYI!!
Love the ambience and tropical surroundings of the pool area and it just felt so relaxing and warm overall. Just a few minute walk from the lively club street and night market and truly an oasis after a day of busy touring. The staff were extremely friendly and genuine. After we moved to another hotel the next day, the receptionist saw us passing by Rambutan Resort on a tuk-tuk and started waving at us furiously and made us laugh so hard. The breakfast was very tasty and the tuk-tuk driver was friendly and speaks good English, too. The only negative thing was that the room was slightly damp but it was tolerable. We stayed at 3 different hotels during this trip in Siem Reap and I'd say this hotel offers the greatest value for its cost and the most genuine service.
Attractive, comfortable, gay-friendly hotel”
there are 4 golden banana hotel resorts, and ours was the boutique resort, at the end of the alley where all of them are. the concierge welcomed us with a drink and patiently told us in detail about the angkor wat/siem reap area highlights and answered all our questions. his recommendations for dining, drinks and shopping were great. the swimming pool is very well lit at night and it's very refreshing after a hot day in angkor wat. passengers are a mix of straight couples and gay men in groups or traveling solo, all of different ages. they all seemed very nice and comfortable to be at golden banana. we had to climb three flights of stairs to our room, but the hotel staff carried our luggage up and down. the room was quite big and comfortable, with very good air conditioning and a nice barcony to the courtyard pool. breakfast was tasty and fresh. all in all, a highly recommended place to stay in siem reap.
Gorgeous resort with incredibly helpful staff”
We loved our stay and have since recommended the Rambutan Resort to friends. The decor is just delightful, with cheeky paintings and cute name rooms throughout the resort. The staff were wonderfully polite and helpful and the food was excellent (though a little more expensive than you could get elsewhere). Our favourite feature was the bathtub on the balcony - perfect for soaking away long days spent exploring Angkor temples. If we return to Siem Reap, we will stay here again!
Fabulous complex with everything we needed”
we arrived to a welcome drink and a lengthy chat with one of the staff about our needs while we were in siem reap. they were not pushy at all in terms of tours but guided us or made useful suggestions. the location is great - it's away from the busy areas across the river but is literally a 5 minute walk or less to get there for some good dining experiences and interesting bars and markets. the hotel has a nice pool but you can also use the pools at the resort and guest house which are all located un the same alley. we also dined at the hotel and the food there was also very good. really the staff, the setting, the rooms and general location all made our time in siem reap special. highly recommended.
Relaxing villa resort”
The hotel is located just near one of the night market in siem reap. But in a very quite alley. There are 3 GB resorts in the alley, we live in the GB II villa. With a pool in the central and villa sitting around, the hotel has a very nice layout. We live a deluxe villa. With 2 storys, the bed room, bathroom are on the ground and the balcony with bathtube on the 2nd floor. Swimming pool is just 2 steps from the door, we enjoyed very much of the swimming pool during the hot noon in siem reap. The restaurant is also nice with its good cambodian food offer. Actually, some best combodian food we had was in the hotel (The 'Lok La' is good taste even better comparing to some expensive restaurant in Phnom Penh). It's good experience sitting beside the pool to enjoy an afternoon tea. All the staff of the hotel are nice and polite including the tuk-tuk drivers. The hotel also offer service like angor wat tour and bus ticket order.
The best boutique hotel in Siem Reap!”
we totally enjoyed our stay at the golden banana boutique resort, i would definitely stay again. the hotel has a great location across the river from the main market and the main part of town, however feels out of it enough and just a short walk in to it all. the staff are amazing, professional, welcoming and friendly, but more than this, relaxed, happy and engaging. great restaurant, red lantern. good quality food and a nice varied menu. the breakfast included in the room rate was uncomplicated and varied. i loved the local khmer choice which i had 5 out of our 6 day stay! the rice porridge was soothing on the tummy after a night out on pub street. lol... nice intimate pool area, which felt like the hub of the hotel. being a small hotel, it allowed you to get to know some of the other guests if you wanted to. during our stay, we were all rather a varied bunch which made for some interesting chat. i loved the modern khmer decor and design of the hotel, some great pop art works! i will be returning to cambodia, siem reap and the golden banana boutique resort!
What a wonderful find. Hidden down a quiet back lane away from the crowds but a close walk to everything, we loved our stay at Rambutan Resort. The staff are an absolute delight, they always have a smile, want to have a chat and are thrilled to share their culture with you. We would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you all at Rambutan for making our stay in Siem Reap so enjoyable.
A sanctuary tucked in a quiet corner”
Stayed 2 nights here with my wife and family. Having visited Siem Reap over a dozen times, I must say that the hotel grounds was tastefully decorated and how the pool and rooms are located will give guests a 'courtyard experience'. Stone & wood themed hotel. The room was spacious and was plastered with rustic and pleasing on the eyes tiles. Loved the outdoor soaking tub on the balcony. Bedding were clean and comfortable, air-cond works fine. The hotel staff were attentive, well-trained and courteous throughout our stay. Service with a smile. I would highly recommend this property to friends, couples and families planning on visiting Siem Reap. Location: Although tucked in a quiet corner of Siem Reap, this property is just a 8-minute walk to Pub Street and the Old Market area. 20-minute tuk tuk ride to the Angkor Wat premises. It is still quite central and another plus point is that you still get to enjoy the peace & quiet.
Charming, conveniently located hotel”
This hotel was recommended to me by many friends who live in Cambodia, I've been to Siem Reap 8 times and the Golden Banana is the best place that I have stayed - I highly recommend it. We had a slight problem when we arrived (they didn't have our Agoda reservation registered in their system) but they resolved the problem right away and the rest of our stay was great. The hotel is less than 5 minutes walk to the old part of town where the best shops and restaurants are, but is in a quiet area so you can relax. The room was slightly small but the hotel interior and exterior has loads of character, really adding to the experience of being in Siem Reap. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Perfect Location, Perfect Place”
Our stay at Golden Banana Boutique Resort was faultless. From the fist moment we arrived the staff were so well organised and friendly. Our every thought, and sometimes things we had nod considered, was address quickly without hassle and also in a relaxed easygoing manner. The location was set in a quiet neighborhood environment, but was only a few metres stroll to the main shopping markets, beautiful river restaurants and not far from the loud party Pub Street area. The salt swimming pool was set in beautiful tropical surroundings, the perfect place to relax after a day of temple touring. The food, drinks and cocktails were perfect, thanks to the attentive smiling staff, who know exactly how to pamper us. I am sure to advise all my friends to choose this hotel for their stay in Siem Reap. You could not do better for both quality and price. Job well done Golden Banana. We will certainly stay with you again.
A small resort!”
The Golden Banana Hotel is like a tropical resort hidden away but convienent to all of the attractions of Siem Reap. It is about 5 minutes walk from the restaurants and bars of Pub Street but inside the walls of its tropical garden a world away. The pool is magic with a cascading waterfall at one end and a bar at the other. Rooms overlook the pool with their own verandahs or directly onto the garden at ground level. Rooms are large and decorated nicely with ceramics, silks and timber. The bathroom is large and the shower particularly large!(Room for 2!!)I had guests visit while I was there and at no time did the room feel crowded with 4 of us present. The verandah was a pleasant spot to sit at dusk too with an overhead fan to keep it cool. The room was comfortably airconditioned.Breakfast was a simple breakfast with limited choice but adequate. While I was there a number of solo female and pairs of females were guests so it is safe for female travellers. Staff were particularly helpful and friendly. The hotel is partner to a guest house across the lane that also looked good but apparently rooms were smaller and it lacked the pool and bar. A great place to relax and destress!
A place with heart”
Vibe I decided to stay at the Golden Banana (resort) because friends of mine had stayed there. While all of the above are technically true, I think the resort is now so successful. I didn't use the pool (which for me was a major selling point when considering a stay) as much as I would have liked to partly because there were children and family around and I didn't feel comfortable in my speedos. This is a personal choice and in no way reflects the quality of the hotel or its operation. I wore the same (modest) speedo in generally adult-oriented 4-star hotels in other Asian cities I visited during the same trip -- but the 'vibe' at the GB just didn't feel right for doing the same. Personally if I visited Siem Reap again I would stay at a luxury hotel simply because they are excellent value for the money compared to what we'd normally pay for similar star-levels elsewhere. Room condition I stayed in the most expensive room, a two-storey deluxe villa with a rooftop patio and outdoor shower/bathtub, which I loved. The outdoor shower only had cold water and the outdoor stone bathtub had hot/cold water. After a scorching hot day, the cold outdoor shower was a welcome relief. The first thing I noticed when I arrived in my room is the lack of lighting. The room was at best dim at night with all the lights on. The air conditioner felt really weak and during my stay -- arguably the hottest month of the year -- it was a bit of a struggle to stay cool. It may have been an old unit that required replacing. Room amenities were pretty standard -- bring your favorite shampoo and soap if you're picky about such things (and I am). The aromatherapy lamp was a nice t
Outstanding in almost every respect...”
Beautiful hotel, immaculate accommodations, and charming staff so very eager to please... Not to mention a back-up generator that functioned throughout a day when electricity was off city-wide! During Siem Reap's soaring daytime temperatures, that benefit is no small consideration. Two relatively minor caveats: 1) Stairs are STEEP to second- and third-floor rooms. Typical of smaller (and many larger) Siem Reap hotels, there is no elevator. 2) There is little, if any, control over room temperature. My a/c was set at 16 Celsius, but the temperature never approached 24. Either management has dictated the thermostat or my room leaked cold air like a sieve. Pointedly, beds come with no blankets. On the other hand, my shower was a virtual Niagara--and water was blazing hot! No end of fresh towels and toiletries, Would I return? I can hardly wait...
An Excellent Choice”
This is our second stay at Rambutan and it was a great choice for visiting Siem Reap. The location is very central to everything in town but you are just outside all the noise and mayhem of the heart of town. The markets are easy to access and there are some great eating places nearby. The staff are very friendly and Tommy the manager is so hospitable and helpful with suggestions about restaurants and things to see and do. We felt very relaxed and comfortable here and look forward to returning again.
Cute boutique hotel with amazing service”
Our first hotel in Cambodia and we were all really please. Location- great; 5 minutes walking into "downtown" Siem Reap Rooms/Hotel- love the red doors and layout. Less than 10 rooms in this location so everything is really personalized. Loved the pool with the small waterfall. Very relaxing. Staff- AMAZING, flexible, helpful, respectful Definitely recommended to stay here- already recommended this hotel to 3 of my other friends visiting Siem Reap! :)
lovely hotel, friendly staff”
We had a lovely stay at the Golden Banana. There are three or four of them down a little alley in Siem Reap, making it very village like. The salt water pool is nice, the food delicious and we like the 6am - 12 noon breakfast. That was a real bonus! Our room was small interior but had stairs leading to our own private roof top terrace, with outdoor shower and bath. This was fantastic! The staff are very friendly and the fresh bagels were delicious! I will stay here again. Short walking distance into pub street and Siem Reap town.
Lovely hotel, but worth checking the room type”
siem reap is a very competitive place for hotels and guesthouses. this means you have a wide choice of places that are good value for money. golden banana boutique hotel is one of them. the location is great, just accross the river and the old market and right next to the night market (check the shortcut!). they are at least 5 resorts with golden banana in the name on the same, very cute lane. the golden banana boutique hotel and the golden banana boutique resort are a few meters apart. the gb hotel offers standard villas, while the gb resort offers deluxe suites and villas. we stayed at the later in a deluxe villa. in my opinion, it is better to stay at the resort, since the gb hotel's reception, restaurant and pool are quite small. but i would opt for a deluxe suite instead of a deluxe villa next time. the main difference between the two is that you have your own roof terrace in the villa. it sounds nice, but like most rooftop spaces, you end up paying more while using it less than a balcony. the suites have a balcony with almost the same features (outdoor bathtub and lounge chairs). note that most suites are on the second floor. pros staff is nice and helpful. atmosphere is relaxing. food is good. breakfast pancakes were delicious. local veggie noodle dish was ok. spring rolls were ok. bagels were excellent. cocktails were good. cons the space is small, so if you are unlucky and have noisy neighbours, it could be unpleasant. it's probably the whole of siem reap, but our bathroom had lots of mostiquos
