A charming, very well located hotel in Chiang Mai ”

Delightful rooms, friendly staff, perfect location, good price

In July 2011 I went to Thailand with my family, 2 adults & 2 children (5 & 12 years old. For our 6 day stay In Chiang Mai we chose the Raming Lodge based on the very positive reviews on Agoda. The positive rating of this hotel turned out to be well deserved & the hotel was even better than expected. The Raming lodge was one of the best hotels of our Thailand trip. We got connecting rooms which are very practical for families (but quite difficult to find in Thailand). Rooms were really charming: nicely decorated, spacious, well equipped (air-conditioning, fridge, wardrobes,…)& clean. There was also a swimming pool at the hotel, which was highly appreciated by our children. Breakfast (included in the roomrate) was good & varied. There was a good choice of western & Asian food. The restaurant of the hotel also served good food at lunch. Note that there are several other restaurants in the street, so you don’t need to go very far to have a meal if you prefer to eat outside the hotel. Staff was very kind, helpful & smiling. It is clear that the Raming Lodge does everything to please the guests. We booked a 2 day/1 night trek at the travel agency of the hotel. The trek was of high quality & well organized. It was not more expensive than in other travel agencies. As we booked the trek at the hotel we got vouchers for a free foot massage at the spa of the hotel. The massage was really relaxing & performed by specialists. The Raming Lodge is very well located, just in between the Night Bazar & the old city of Chiang Mai. Everything is at walking distance. As mentioned in some other reviews, there are some go-go bars in the street nearby the hotel but this was not at all disturbing. Street was safe. We strongly recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a charming well located hotel in Chiang Mai. This hotel is also perfect for families & those who want to take some rest & take benefit of a spa.

Amazing hotel with incredible and friendly staff”

All the major attractions are 5/10 minutes walk away

Raming Lodge Hotel is simply wonderful. From the moment I arrived I was treated with incredible courtesy and friendliness, as the staff are always eager to help. The rooms are also fantastic, with all the facilities you'd expect at a high end hotel with free snacks in your mini-bar. Slippers, dressing gown, umbrella, room safe, all are ready for your use. The bedrooms are big and comfortable with air-con, and the bathroom are also luxurious. The massage spa within the hotel is also great value for money (when I was there, it was buy one get one free!), and the quality of the massage is also impressive. There are different packages to choose, so you can accommodate your time/budget quite easily. The swimming pool is quite small and slightly removed from the hotel itself, but Chiang Mai isn't really the kind of place for swimming pools; it's more for sight-seeing, or trips to nearby areas. Speaking of trips, the staff will help you find any that you're looking for ranging from jungle adventures to wats, visiting tribes people to going to the zoo. Of note is also the price, as these excursions are quite cheap especially when compared to other cities in Thailand. The hotel is very close to the 'old town' where plenty of wats, statues and monuments are waiting for you. Additionally there are plenty of quality cafes to have a rest before continuing your journey. Location is good in this regard, however - the hotel has several go-go bars nearby. The girls were very respectful whenever couples or families walked past, but if you're a single man/group of men you will be asked inside. Usually the patrons are 60/70 year old men though! It's not really a problem, but maybe something to be aware of. I will definitely be staying at Raming Lodge again if/when I visit Chiang Mai again, as it was a great experience and incredible value for money.

Mr. Steve Hallgren”

Great Hotel with great dollar value. Professional service at every turn. As a hospitality consultant, I know a good place when I see one.
None

This was my first time at this Hotel and picked it because it was in the location I wanted and at the price I wanted to pay. I am in the Hospitality business and have been for the last 30 years and I know value when I see it. The Raming Lodge had professional service in every area that I experienced. There was always a door man present when I entered and exited the Hotel. The front desk staff spoke English and took care of all my needs with a smile. They are well trained and it shows. The tour desk was there whenever I needed them and went above and beyond their job description. I wanted to look at properties and not take any tours but the staff took care of everything. The restaurant staff was also very good at what they did. The included breakfast was one of the best I had in Thailand the entire time and it changed each morning. The management at The Raming Lodge understand what customer service is all about and many Bangkok hotels should send their staff to this hotel for training. I needed to cancel a night that I had already arranged with Agoda and paid for because I wanted to return to Bangkok a day earlier. I contacted an Agoda representative and requested the change. The Raming Lodge agreed to refund the money and Paul from Agoda contacted me right back and sent a confirmation e-mail with no penalty. If I were to give The Raming Lodge a number from 1 to 10 with regard to overall service, I would give them a 9 as there is always room for improvement somewhere. The Raming Lodge will get my business each and everytime I go to Chiang Mai and I will always recommend this hotel to anyone who travels to this wonderful little city!

A Great Hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai”

Service, Rooms, Location, Restaurant, internet
The pool was too chemically

We really loved our stay at the Raming Lodge Hotel; right from check-in to check-out! We were greeted with fresh juice and taken right up to our room. I recommend spending the little extra and getting the Deluxe room. We were treated to fresh fruit and pastries everyday as well as fresh juice in the mini fridge along with some sodas. The restaurant offered a great selection of Western and Asian foods for the breakfast buffet and has a really great BBQ brochette at dinner (among other foods of course!) The location is perfect as it is within an easy walk to the famous Night Bazaar and there are always Tuk-Tuks close by if you want to venture further out. The hotel provided free wi-fi for the entire length of our stay which was a real bonus for us. They also have their own tour provider if you are looking to go on any adventures. The hotel is located on a street that has many bars and pubs but it was very quiet, even at night and we never felt unsafe or uncomfortable. The only negative thing I have to say about our stay there is that the pool had too many chemicals in it and after a couple of hours in the water, our skin was irritated and our eyes burned a bit. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again myself when back in Chiang Mai.

Raming Lodge - Chiang Mai, Thailand”

We truly enjoyed our stay at Raming Lodge (Chiang Mai) as the location was central to walking to Night Market, several restaurants, massage parlors, 7-11 store, and shopping area. The hotel was clean, had a great selection of foods for breakfast, and received a nice bowl of fruit with our deluxe accommodations.
The beds were not as soft as we experience in the United States due to the fact that box springs are replaced with hard platforms.

We stayed for three nights at the Raming Lodge in Chiang Mai before traveling to a resort in another location. We found we enjoyed the Raming Lodge so well, that we made another reservation for another night. It was in a great area to walk to the Night Market, several restaurants, massage parlors, 7-11 store, and much shopping. The rooms at the Raming Lodge were very comfortable decorated in the Asian decor. We had a deluxe room which included a lovely bowl of fruit, a complimentary mini-bar which included sodas and bottled water. All the beverages were chilled in the mini-refrigerator. The layout of the Raming Lodge is very unique with each floor overlooking the central garden/restaurant area. The employees were very accommodating and helpful also. We would highly recommend the Raming Lodge to anyone going to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Nice place to stay in Chiang Mai”

-Breakfast was consistently good and quick -Pool area nice and necessary in CM heat! -Staff was attentive and worked to solve the few minor issues that came up -Spa on 6th floor offered nice level of service -Rooms were clean and well serviced -Complimentary wireless is a nice benefit, especially for a business traveler who uses it daily
-Wish this nice place weren't so close to the strip of girl bars, but that's a minor point

I travel at least three times a year to Thailand on business, usually staying the majority of my time in Chiang Mai. I've stayed in places for $4 US a night and places for $80 US a night. Raming was in between those two prices and was the best of the lot for my needs as a business traveler. I simply want a good clean room, reasonably attentive service, and a decent restaurant at hand for breakfast, quick meals, or drinks with colleagues. Raming delivers on all those without being overpriced or pretentious. I rarely use hotel pools because they tend to be a bit dirty and have no real service, but I used the pool just about daily at Raming Lodge: it is clean, there is a staff member at the bar, and the environment was relaxing with the little waterfall blcoking city noise. Nice touch! Overall Raming Lodge is a nice property that seems to be better managed than the vast majority of hotels and guesthouses I have stayed in throughout SE Asia.

Comfortable hotel with many ammenities and a smile”

Complimentary drinks, breads and fruits in deluxe rooms, the buffet breakfast, friendly, professional staff, close walk to the Night Market, and productive tour agency to book daily sightseeing tours around Chiang Mai.

Raming Lodge Hotel provides an ideal and comfortable gateway to Chiang Mai with its optimal location in the heart of the city. The deluxe rooms provided excellent comfort, especially given the discount rates. Also, the travel agency capably arranged for my girlfriend and I to visit the famous golden temple, Doi Suthep Temple, as well as the Elephant Farm, a Tiger Sanctuary and a leisurely bamboo raft ride down a gently flowing river. In addition, Raming Lodge Hotel offers an afforable, superb spa treatment (2 people for the price of 1 - ideal for couples). Also, the breafast buffet, lunch and dinners were delicious. With the night market a short walk, there are many additional restaurants, clothes shops, bars and massage shops within walking distance.

Excellent location and excellent value!”

Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff, the courtyard where you eat has a great atmosphere, nice breakfast buffet, seemed clean, and had a very comfortable bed. The value per dollar is tops!
A few mosquitoes were able to enter the room, possibly because of a gap between the door and door frame. Pool's a little small and closes early. Wifi is expensive. Not much natural light.

My wife and I stayed at three hotels during our two weeks in Chiang Mai. The Raming Lodge was the middle price range of the three, but we think it had the best value. The location is Excellent! You'd be challenged to find a hotel with as convenient of a location in Chiang Mai. We were able to walk anywhere we wanted to go except the Airport Plaza and Central Mall we took songtaews to. Despite the hotel being located on the bar street, it was very quiet in the rooms. A note for families - there is live music in the courtyard from 7:00 to 9:00 or 10:00 every night, so it may not be the best choice for small children who need to go to bed early. When we're in Chiang Mai again, we'll definitely be staying at the Raming Lodge!

Just what we were looking for”

Location, price, comfortable

Took the ‘express’ train from Bangkok, should have been in Chiang Mai at 20:30 but arrived at 22:15 and thank goodness for the Raming Lodge who collected us at the station. There didn’t appear to be any taxis only songtheuws. Check-in was quick and we were shown to room 502. This was a deluxe room and is well worth the extra money as it includes transfers from/to airport or station. It also includes soft drinks in your fridge. Two bottles of water are left each day. Room 502 had a large king-size bed; TV; fridge; wardrobe; drawers; and a torch plus tea/coffee making facilities. There was a nice bathroom with a large shower and vanity washbasin – no hot water in the basin only cold but was actually lukewarm. Breakfast was good with all the usual fayre, fruit; cereals; cooked food; egg station; toast; but no yoghurt. Staff were slow to clear the tables and re-set. Right out of the front door leads you past a 7/11 and to the Old City, it is no longer ‘walled’ just cross the moat and you are there – a nice place to have a wander. Left out of the front door, 5 minutes walk or so passing many restaurants; bars; clubs and shops, leads you to the main street where the night market is held and where there are more shops including Boots the Chemist. I would definitely recommend the Raming Lodge and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again when next in Chiang Mai.

Service with a Smile”

Attentive and friendly nature of all staff. Clean and comfortable room/bed. Excellent food and great entertainer during evening meal.

After clearing Customs formalities at the airport it was very pleasing to see a friendly face holding our name up on a card. In no time he had all our bags whilst we did some currency exchange then into the hotel RAV for the short trip to Raming. This level of customer service was displayed throughout the stay. The room whilst a little tired was clean and very comfortable and had a traditional ambiance. The breakfast was limited in range but of good quality and more than adequate. It was a pleasure to dine in the restaurant at night where the quality of the food was excellent, well priced and we were entertained by a very talented soloist. If you are inclined to walk round the block there are a number of good shops to explore, not to mention the cheap massages, and the hotel is well located in respect of the street markets. As you walk out the door there is usually an attentive tuk tuk driver. Some apparently consider them over-priced and aggressive. Our perception was totally different; from an initial anxiety about using tuk tuks in the congested traffic it became our preferred mode transport and we had no issue with pricing. Markets are a must-do but sharpen your bartering skills up. There are two very good shopping malls and heaps of good activities/tours to go on. We preferred Chiang Mai to Phuket and in the likely event of us returning we will certainly consider returning to Raming Lodge.

The Raming Lodge was a wonderful place to stay. Close to the Night Bazaar Excellent Food Helpful Staff Beautiful Rooms Excellent Thai Massage Easy access to all local tours
The only thing was the shower took about ten minutes to get hot water...but I just turned it on and then went and sorted my clothes that I wanted for the day, cleaned my teeth and the shower was ready.

The Raming Lodge was situated approxmately 10-15 minutes from the Airport. The hotel is popular so all the tuk tuk drivers and red taxis new where it was. (Makes things a lot easier). It was located within walking distance from the night bazaar. We only had breakfast each morning but what a lovely surprise it was to see what was on offer especially when it was indcluded in the room price. The food was SENSATIONAL!!! Fresh eggs cooked by chefs, bacon, croisants, jams, spreads, Thai Food, fruits, banana bread, coffee, tea, juices, etc...amazing!!!. The staff were very helpful when it comes to local sites to see. The market on Saturday was sensational. Its at Watoma (or something like that).. I will definitely stay in this hotel net time I visit Chiang Mai. My mother and I loved it!!!

We enjoyed our stay at Raming Lodge, Chiang Mai”

Clean, no insects, comfortable, unique layout of hotel, good restaurant, good breakfast included with room, shuttle to and from airport (free with deluxe room), friendly staff.
Hard beds, dark bathroom for putting on make-up, no iron and ironing boards in each room, but available if you call the front desk.

We enjoyed our stay at Raming Lodge, Chiang Mai, Thailand. The layout of the hotel is really nice with each room opening onto a hallway that overlooks the terrace and restaurant area below. The rooms were comfortable and clean with no insects found. The staff at the Raming Lodge were friends and helpful. We were pleased that with our deluxe room accommodations we received an assortment of fruits and snacks each day, along with the mini-bar including beer, sodas, and bottle water each day, and shuttle service to pick us up from the airport and take us back for free. The beds were on the hard side, good if you like a very firm mattress. Housekeeping was very good. Asians must not keep irons and ironing boards in each room, but are available if you call the front desk. Would recommend this hotel to others traveling to Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Business As Usual”

Well located, great service as always
Occasional wireless internet issues - not a big deal.

I do business in Thailand regularly and have stayed at Raming Lodge more than 45 days over several trips in the last year and a half. I always get great service, a clean room, attentive staff, and a wonderful experience. There are some fancier places with big marble lobbies and tall buildings in Chiang Mai, but Raming Lodge quietly provides a home away from home for me that I haven't found elsewhere in town. The included breakfast is a fantastic benefit as is the wireless internet - I don't have time to mess around each morning going to a restaurant and I often work from my room, so having a connection is vital. Only a few times has the internet gone down, but it's been solved pretty quickly. The staff, from front desk to housekeeping is friendly and helpful. You can spend more in Chiang Mai, but I don't know that you'll really get much more for a good solid hotel.

this is the place to stay!”

the hotel staff is incredibly on top of their game. they're very professional and courteous. the hotel itself is very clean and comfortable. the set-up is very convenient at a reasonable and affordable price. they also included a complimentary breakfast buffet. sai, their informations employee, was always there to help us whether it was figuring out a ride, where the best places to eat were, etc.
although the location of the hotel is great because it's in the "downtown" area, it's also located along the tourist-attracted bars. the only things i really thought could have been different about the hotel itself was that i wish they provided a clock in the room and that internet usage could be bought in smaller increments. the minimum time was an hour long.

I really thought that I got my money's worth at this hotel. We paid for a hotel in Bangkok for the same price and it does not even compare to Raming Lodge in Chiang Mai. Raming Lodge was such a great place to stay. The service was top-notch and the quality of excellence the hotel is run at definitely went above what I could have asked for. The staff was always willing to help and really felt like you were worth spending their time for. You can see their attitude is to really put the customer first. Customer service is key when you're running a business. Also the building itself was very clean and not run-down. It was in great shape and I felt safe. I would recommend staying at this hotel if you're going to stay in Chiang Mai.

worth every penny!!”

location, rooms, spa

A group of 5 of us spent 2 nights at Raming on 26th-28th June 2015. This is an awesome Hotel, and so worth the rates that we paid for. Great service, good breakfast buffet, fantastic location! 10-15mins to/from the airport. Airport transfer was efficient! The Hotel has a swimming pool too. And the Spa was also good. My Superior Double Room felt like a Deluxe Double Room!! 7-11 and pharmacies located right in front and 2 mins away! Bars all along the street (Lai Kroh street. Beers at the Hotel are also cheap!. We had a very very good stay at Raming Lodge and I would certainly recommend this Hotel to anyone planning to visit Chiang Mai. Thank you Raming Lodge!

Conveniently located hotel”

Location, Staff, Wi-fi

Location is my priority whenever I look for a hotel and I'm glad I chose Raming Lodge for my Chiang Mai trip. It's located along Loi Kroh Road which is lined with shops, restaurants, money changers and spas. Our package included free airport transfer and te driver was waiting for us as we exited the terminal. It took about 15 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport. Check in was quick and easy since we arrived at around 2 in the afternoon. We booked connecting deluxe rooms and they both had nice Lanna style decor but small windows and views were blocked by the motor of the air conditioners. Wi-fi was strong in both rooms (we are on the 5th floor) and proof is that I'm making this review here in my room at Raming. Service is good. Thais are friendly and warm hearted so the staff was always smiling at us. Special mention to Nut who picked us up from the airport and even helped us find transportation for our self-planned tour around the city. He's a welcome sight from a day of walking as he stays by the door of the lobby and his bright smile is always ready to greet us. The other staff members were nice too and even helped us get in touch with a tour group we didn't book with the hotel. Breakfast buffet in the morning has a lot of dishes but not much variety from one day to the next. The hotel has a pool located a few steps outside the main hotel. You have to cross the street to get there as it's located beside the hotel's parking area. Food is now served there as well. Location wise, it's about a two minute walk to the Thapae Gate of the Old City and a 10 minute walk to the night market. There's a 7/11 a few steps out the hotel and a cheap spa right across the street to relieve you from all the walking you'll do around Chiang Mai. Area is generally safe for walking at night as bars line the street too. Overall, we had a good stay at Raming due to it's location and service.

Chiang Mai”

Raming Lodge was a very comfortable hotel in the centre of Chiang Mai.
Breakfast was not as good as in some of the other hotels we stayed in.

The Raming Lodge hotel is in the centre of Chiang Mai, and is very convenient for the Night bazaar. There are many shops and restaurants locally, all of which serve very reasonably priced food. It is possible to explore much of the main areas of Chiang Mai from the hotel. The rooms were very comfortable. We had adjoining rooms which was useful, even though our children are older. There is now a swimming pool behind the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Clean and comfortable”

Comfortable and clean room, good breakfast, Wi-Fi in room excellent

The Raming Lodge Hotel is a very clean and comfortable hotel. Rooms are an excellent size as are the bathrooms. One minor niggle for me was some of the bathroom towels were a bit threadbare and should have been replaced. Also I thought these days that most bathroom linen is white, I still remember those dreadful brown towels that were so common in Thai hotels. The breakfast was excellent with a choice of Western and Thai food. Probably the best breakfast coffee I have had in Thailand and they even had warm milk to go with it. The Wi-Fi was also excellent both in the room and the common areas, never had any problem with it the whole time I was there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I used the restaurant for snacks and again was well pleased with the food especially the smoothies my favourite being the mango smoothie. The hotel is within walking distance of the night bazaar and the main thoroughfare so the pickup taxis were always available. I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel again.

Clean Room, Helpful Staff, and great facilities.”

Clean and spacious room; warmhearted and helpful staff; 24hr reception

It's been a pleasure experience staying at this hotel for one night. Hotel staff got everything we need: stamp, glue, adaptor, and free printing service, it really impressed me. And Raming Lodge is only one hotel that provides 24-hour front desk service among all three hotels i stayed in Chiang Mai (some hotels in Chiang Mai suspend their service from 10pm to 6am). Room is clean and spacious, and everything in the room is free. I will stay here again if i get the change to visit Chiang Mai in the future. One thing to improve: the breakfast is served until 10 am, it might be better if it can be extended to 12pm.

Raming Lodge - excellent!”

Free mini bar, nice room decoration, friendly staff, free internet
Internet was free but fairly slow.. not able to make skype calls.

Overall were very pleased with our stay at Raming Lodge. When we arrived the doorman was very helpful and gave us lots of information on everything to do in Chiang Mai. Its v. close to the old town and temples, also right near the night bazaar for good shopping, we walked to most places we wanted to see. I think Raming Lodge was good value for money and I would happily stay here again. The room also had a newly refurbished bathroom, huge bed, and v clean sheets, also nice towels!
