If you are looking for a place to relax, away from the hustle and bustle of town, THIS is definitely the place =)”

We opted to come to Raniban for our honeymoon as we were looking forward to see the sights of Annapurna without having the need to hike (the laziness is purely on my part) however, unfortunately for us, we could hardly see the scenery as the weather was not on our side (weather is VERY foggy in March). Nonetheless, we greatly enjoyed our stay here as it was very calming and serene. Further, the staff were very attentive especially Ganga who was very helpful all throughout our stay. He even assisted in making an itinerary for us as we had informed him we did not have a very long duration to explore Pokhara. We opted for the Mountain View Room With Garden and we can imagine how spectacular the view would have been if the weather was clear. Hot water was virtually non-existent, however this is because the hot water supply is dependant on solar power, so go figure. Makes for a great "wake-up call" to shower in the morning though =D Location-wise, its rather a distance from central Pokhara (about 20 minutes by taxi) and currently the road is a bit rough. Plus, there is a a short hike up to reach the resort. But considering how we wanted to find a place away from town, this was fine by us. The resort is about 15 minutes walk away from World Peace Pagoda and from there you can hike down to the Phewa Lake, take a boat across to visit the Berahi Temple (which is located in the middle of the lake) and then continue on to Pokhara town. There in a in-house catering with Nepali, Western, and Asian options. As all ingredients is organic and cooked fresh, do time your meal properly by placing your order an hour earlier. In short, the foggy weather kind of dampened the experience but the great hospitality at Raniban has definitely made me want to come to Nepal again. Great job Ganga and the team! Hope to (one day) see you again!

Awesome view, unforgetable stay, nice staff, perfect...

Raniban Retreat is a gem in Pokhara, since this place has the best view in Pokhara... Even though, we should climb 500's stairs... We were a bit tired but we had already known that "everything in Nepal includes climbing, trekking or hiking", so it's fine... The staff helped us to carry our bags... The view of Fishtail, Annapurna, World Peace Pagoda, Phewa Lake, and Pokhara from above will satisfy your soul... I still can remember the amazing view of sunset from Raniban, it was sublime! Food and beverages are excellent, staffs are very helpful... Staying at Raniban were so memorable and unforgettable... We wish we could back here in the future...

My partner and I stayed at Raniban Retreat at the beginning of December and were so grateful for the warm welcome, peaceful surroundings, comfortable room, and delicious food. To get there, we crossed Fewa Lake and walked up through the Raniban forest. It is not an easy climb if you have your luggage with you, but it is rewarding to see the views across Pokhara as you go. The staff at Raniban Retreat are superb and cannot do enough for you. If I get to visit Pokhara again, I would absolutely stay at the Retreat for some wonderful peace and quiet. Thank you for looking after us so well!

Raniban retereat is located on top of a hill overlooking the Phewa lake. I don’t believe there are other properties that offer better views. The staff here are sincere and take very good care of guests. Food is good as well. We especially liked walking up and down the stairs leading up to the property. Mr.Ashok is the proprietor of the retreat and he personally detailed and organized our itenirary while we are at Pokhara. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 children and we throughly enjoyed our time at Raniban

A Heaven on Earth Hotel with the fairy tale view”

                View, view and view

My stay in Raniban Retreat was so great. I knew about the 500 steps that must be taken to reach the hotel from the car stop and it's true, no alternative. I was actually stairs hater, but I can handle it. No regret at all because the view during stepping the 500 steps always nice and nicer. And when you are in the hotel, especially in the sunrise time, the view was super amazing (in early November). I can see Mt. Machhapuchhare ( Fish Tail) and the Annapurna Himalaya range, the clouds over the Phewa Lake and the World Peace Pagoda at the peak of a hill. You can call it Heaven on Earth or A Fairy-tale land. Do not expect more than the beauty of silence, no TV, no entertainment but 3G internet is provided free. And taking a long shower with hot water was so great. That's the reason I extended staying in this hotel. And Ganga, the manager and all the staffs, serve the guests with high standard of hospitality.

excellent service, delicious food, best view in pokhara

We absolutely loved our stay at Raniban Retreat! Despite the 525 steps from the taxt drop off to the reception desk. Still all that was worth it with the views of the Himalayan mountains. Oh... and the food here is amazing too! You must try the chilly chips & fish curry with butter paratha! The friendly staff at Raniban Retreat were helpful and never failed to smile and greet us. There's still great potential to this place, like having the hot showers to work 24 hours and have phones in each room so each guest do not have to walk up to the reception each time we need something. They offer hot bags during winter since they do not have heater. But all that is acceptable when you wake up to sunrise and the mountains are right in front of you! We'll definitely stay there again if and when we ever go back to Pokhara. I miss the chilly chips so badly!

                Raniban Retreat”

The best view in Pokhara. Quiet and secluded.

Raniban Retreat is outside the town of Pokhara, but not far and easy to get to. The view of the Annapurna range is outstanding, I doubt there's a better one in all of Pokhara. The rooms are recently added from what was before Bamboo lodges or tents, and are comfortable and quite private, with an excellent view from each room. The staff are very helpful, professional and friendly. The rooms are a bit cold during cold weather with no heating, but they will provide extra blankets and hot water bags to sleep with to keep you comfortable. This is because the electricity in this part of Nepal is unreliable and so the hotel uses solar electricity which at the moment is not enough to run power for heaters to the rooms. This hotel is also up 500 stairs, which aren't too steep, still, keep that in mind when deciding to stay here. It does keep the extra people away, if not for those stairs probably everyone would want to stop by here just for the view!

                Gorgeous but expensive”

The view, the staff and comfort!

Raniban Retreat is a must-go if you have enough in your budget to allow for it. It's located on the top of a hill so you will be getting some truly unparalleled views of Pokhara. Many reviewers have recommended that one check out Raniban Retreat for the sunrise and sunset, but the night view, for me, was equally beautiful. The entire city of Pokhara lit up like a christmas tree and you get to enjoy all that view in the comfort of your hotel room. the room itself was luxury in Pokhara. After weeks of backpacking, i was happy to be sitting on pretty comfortable beds. there was always electricity in Raniban while i was there. as for the hot water, like the rest of Nepal, you just got to let it run for about 15 minutes before it starts to work. once it works, however, the hot water was consistent and absolutely terrific. you would have heard about the 500 steps up to Raniban - yes there are 500 steps but they are not life threatening at all. you can always take a break midway if you are panting. but more than the steps, the fact that Raniban was located atop a hill made it rather inconvenient to leave, do any sightseeing and come back. so get ready to spend all your time in the hotel once you arrive. that said, it's nice to unwind, relax and read my book while basking in the view of the Annapurnas at Raniban.

Great food, friendly staff, fantastic views

So our first stay at Raniban was just one night before we head out for a 5 days trek to Poonhill. We came back to stay at Raniban again after the trek and it was a true retreat. We just relaxed to the mountain views. They definitely have the best view in Pokhara. The first time we stayed there, we got a room with the valley views. However, on request, the second time we stayed there we got the front rooms - room numbers 108, 109, 110 offers the best views of the mountains and its a majestic one to wake up to. That with delicious food and friendly staff made a great closure to our time in Pokhara!

                Must stay Hotel of Pokhara!”

                Peaceful, the view, the rooms/staff

Raniban was a dream stay. They arranged an exciting taxi ride for us to reach the hotel from Pokhara airport. Kids (9 and 10) had no problem with the stair climb to the top. When you get there, the view takes your breath away! We had a great two days playing board games and cards sat on the viewing deck soaking in all that was around us. The kids are not big walkers, but they managed two very easy walks to experience, the stunningly tranquil 'World Peace Pogoda' and a local village. Unfortunately it was time to leave. We took the walk down past cafes, it took about an hour with a couple of short stops, and a peaceful canoe across to main town Pokhara. Fantastic. I recommend anyone going to Pokhara should stay at least one night at Raniban.

                Recommended!”

Had a good 1 night stay in Raniban. It was away from the Pokhara lakeside area but truly loved how high it was. Location was superb for sunrise/sunset. You can even catch a good view of the ultralight flights as well as the Annapurna range. However, the only down side for me was the 522 steps upwards, especially if you are not exacty fit like me. The staff will help you carry your luggage/backpack up. There is another alternative route of 100+ steps but it is only accessible to go down. I would highly recommend this place if you want to be away from the hustle & bustle. The staffs are awesome too, always so attentive! Special thanks to Prakesh & Pradip in helping us book our day activities at a really good bargain (way cheaper than what is offered by companies/hotels in the lakeside area). The activities arranged for us was reasonable priced and was carried out by reliable tour agency. The breakfast at the rooftop was also good! Thanks for the great stay Raniban!

Difficult to get to, but well worth the effort. ”

The view is beyond belief, the staff is excellent.

Raniban Retreat is a bit difficult to get to. Once you arrive the staff will meat you at the stairs, carry your bags, & escort you to the hotel. Once you arrive at the top you are instantly overwhelmed with the view and the kindness of the Raniban staff. The early morning view is beyond description. The food was excellent and I will stay at the Raniban Retreat on my next visit to Pokhura. The Raniban Retreat is also just a short hike from the World Peace Pagoda.

                Don't believe all the reviews”

                Nice view of Pokhara

We booked Deluxe Tent because we read the review that it had the best view. When we got there and staff showed us the tent, the only view we saw was the roof of the Lodge. We asked to change to better view tent but was told that they only had two Deluxe Tents at the resort. We wanted to change to Lodge but it was fully booked so we had no choice. The tent was small and had two beds which took most of the space. Bathroom was outside the tent and the drainage was terrible. There was always water on the floor and make the bathroom unclean. It took times for water to get hot too. We stayed for two nights and had all meals at the resort. The food and service of the restaurant was good. Staff was nice and friendly. The best thing of this hotel is the view. When the sky was clear, we could see the view of the whole Pokhara, Phewa lake and the mountains. It was perfect for both sunrise and sunset. Probably the best spot in Pokhara. However, the road to Raniban was rough and the only way to get there is by taxi which could be around 800 Rp.

                Amazing stay at Raniban Retreat”

Location and views, good food, and very warm and welcoming staff

We had an amazing experience at Raniban Retreat for 3 nights/4 days. The resort staff was very well mannered and helpful. The Himalayan range views were absolutely superb from the Mountain View Room (109) with Private Garden that is worth every penny. Facility wise it was a home away from home. Just a few suggestions: 1. Rooms are very nice and comfortable and their main selling point is their view but after dark there's nothing to do and having a television with a few cable channels would really help pass that time. If not then at least at the reception/restaurant area. 2. There must be an intercom/phone in the room to contact the hotel staff because we had to go each time to the reception area if we needed anything that becomes uncomfortable especially during the night time. 3. There should be additional menu/food items offered. 4. The facility should have good lights on all the footpath/walkways after dark.

                Spectacular, amazing views, awesome food”

View of Annapurna range mountains, food, tranquility

It was an adventurous journey to the top of Raniban Retreat paired with the amazing nature sights and complete relaxation. It is such a unique idea to choose that location to set up a hotel that I would list it as the second best thing in Pokhara after the views of Annapurna. Really good hospitality and the food is too good. I will visit Nepal again only to spend another couple of nights in my favourite spot in Nepal. So impressed!

                Worth the climb! ”

Great little boutique hotel on top of a mountain! We stayed at the room with a private garden and had amazing views of Phewa Lake, Pokhara town and the Annapurna range.. right from our room! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The manager (Roy) was very interactive with the guests and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. A must visit!

                Wonderful getaway in Pokhara”

                Great services and amazing view

The hotel staff are friendly and approachable. The room is clean and acceptable. The first room that we stayed in did not have a functioning water heater. After raising the issue to the hotel staff, they kindly brought hot water for us. Other than that, the view from the hotel is awesome. The restaurant also serves sumptuous breakfast. It was truly a great stay at Raniban Retreat.

Stayed 3 nights at Raniban and could easily have spent a few more nights. The location gives you a wide view over the lake, Pokhara, the surrounding hills and the mountains. Rooms are comfortable, food is excellent and staff is very friendly and helpful. Absolutely recommended.
