Very good”
We arrived at 7pm. If you arrive earlier you have access to the turtle beach until 1pm, at which point they ask visitors to leave to allow the turtles to arrive in peace. We booked one of the tents as opposed to the rooms. We strongly recommend the tents, they are much nicer and better equipped than the rooms, and sleeping under the stars is a brilliant experience. Each tent is air conditioned, very clean with comfortable beds and it's own shower and toilet with hot water. There are panels on the tents that unzip and expose a mesh window, porous enough to allow light through but also stop any flies or insects coming in. They are a 3 minute walk away from the main reserve but you can also drive between the two or utilise the buggy service. A buffet dinner is served on site, but we showered and rested instead. At 8.30pm we met in the main foyer. It was a busy night for the middle of February (off peak season) but room guests are given priority and are allowed out first, then ticketed guests. We walked for approximately 15 minutes to the beach where we saw two turtles laying their eggs. We were also lucky enough to see 4-5 hatchlings make their way to the sea and watched another turtle return back from egg laying into the water. The guide, who was a bit abrupt at first, clearly cared about the turtles and gave an explanation into the whole process. The experience lasts between 60-90mins depending on how much is going on. It was definitely an experience we won't be forgetting soon. Breakfast was buffet and nothing special but the memories from the night before will plaster over any flaws. Expensive but definitely worthwhile if you get a tent

Would not go there again”
Restaurant staff so so. Tour guide for turtle watching very good and knowledgeable. Reception staff most inefficient and unfriendly we encountered in Oman. Room without windows.

Spectacular location”
Definitely go for the luxury tent if you can (it can accommodate at least 4 people) cause there is no comparison with the rooms. The tents are very nice and comfortable, the location is simply amazing and the whole experience unforgettable. The food is nothing special and the dinner buffet is actually expensive for the quality and for what you get. Make sure you had dinner before. The breakfast included in the price is ok. In any case definitely worth it.

Good location but overpriced”
Staying here has the advantage of getting in the priority group for turtle watching however the price is high for what you get. Only dinner available is a overly priced buffet.

Go for the turtles... not for the hotel ”
Staff are slow and quite unhelpful. Luxury tents are comfortable and clean -but not great value for money.

amazing experience”
Loved seeing the turtles and so pleased that so much respect was shown for them. I believe dinner should be included with the accommodation especially as there are no other alternatives close by. Either that or it should be much more affordable. 9.5 rial per person is too much.

Pleasant stay”
We were a couple, stayed at the reserve in the first week of October. It was my third visit to see the turtles, my earlier visits were before the reserve started. There are two turtle tours, first at 8.30 PM and the second at 4 AM. People staying at the reserve don’t need to pay for the tours as it is included in the room rent and get the first chance to watch the turtles. It is done in batches of 20 people. We had a huge crowd at the night tour, most of them were not staying at the reserve. The morning tour was peaceful for us as we were only one batch and could see the turtles clearly at the sun rise, the beach too is beautiful. The experience was good and we enjoyed it. Regarding the rooms, they were small as it is a reserve and can’t expect much but equipped with all essential amenities. The buffet breakfast had a decent spread, and everyone get a free car wash at the parking in the morning.

Eco Friendly reserve”
Though there are other location and properties in Oman to stay and watch the nesting activity of Turtles Ras Al Jinz is a stand alone property that offers better facility with English speaking guides and information through museum.

ONLY go for the turtles BUT doesn't seem like the reserve care for the protection of the turtles. ”
First of all it is beautiful to see the turtles nesting! But the groups are pretty large and I can't see how it can be avoided to stress the turtles when 20-30 people stand around it. Even the guides talk to each other during the 'event' and light on the turtles with their torch. There is a lot of garbage on the beach left by the nearby fishermen, though the reserve claim to clean it every day. It is difficult to see where the reserve and protection of the turtles is more important than the money that we as tourists pay. I was lucky to have a nice experience alone with one turtle after the Rest of the group had gone back but apart from that I think it was horrible to witness and be part of this money machine!!! There's is absolutely nothing to do at the place and the rooms are terribly humid smelling and with horrible light so you only want to spend time there when sleeping. The only place to sit with a book is in the lobby.
