Lovely heritage hotel to spend time relaxing ”
Really nice charming heritage hotel in the village of Narlai with tastefully decorated rooms, rambling courtyards and a lovely pool. Whilst the property is a little shabby in places outside, it actually adds to the charm, and the room inside was lovely and freshly decorated. The pool area was a lovely place to relax with Narlai hill as a backdrop, and there are small courtyards and other places to relax in the sun or shade. We were only there for one night and the village of Narlai is only small, but you could easily spend two or three days relaxing here if you wanted a slower paced finish to your holiday. Hotel staff very nice and the locals very friendly too in a very genuine way.

Fantastic property and location”
The property is stunning - an old palace tastefully modernised. The staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. The manager was very professional and came to introduce herself at dinner. We had a "Jharoka" room in the modern wing. It was well appointed, clean, and had a wonderful view of elephant rock from the balcony. The leopard safari was excellent - we saw a mother and two cubs. The staff had gone to a lot of effort to find them; sending extra staff out to another location and then phoning to tell us where the leopards were. Even if we hadn't seen them it would have been good though - a lovely evening drive through forest and farmland, and chai, sandwiches and biscuits at a local lake whilst watching birds. Dinner on the rooftop terrace by candlelight under the stars was magical. We couldn't bring ourselves to spend the amount of money required for the step-well dinner and we did not regret our decision. Climbing to the top of Elephant Rock is highly recommended. We did it at dawn which I think was right decision. It's not too taxing but would have been trying in the heat of the day. We went with a porter from the hotel - an elderly gentleman from the village. We could have found the path ourselves but he made sure we didn't go wrong and he showed us some temples on the way up. Though this activity is "complimentary" we happily gave him a tip. Overall this was a magical stay. In terms of accommodation it was the highlight of our trip. It is clearly a very well run establishment with happy staff. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer than one night - we would have liked to be able to use the pool and spa!

Beautiful hotel in a lovely location”
This is truly a beautiful old hotel and as a guest you are extremely well treated by the staff. It was a bit of a treat for us as we're traveling a long time and it was decidedly outside of our budget. But what the hell. The room was gorgeous, the grounds immaculately kept, and the surrounding area, interesting and breathtaking in equal measure. They offered excursions which sounded great but were a step too far for our budgets. If I could have changed one thing, it would have been that the pool was beyond cold. Far too cold to use. I presume the time of year didn't help (November), but the days are still very hot and we had been looking forward to a dip. Food was great, hike to the hilltop temple was great, wifi was patchy. A lovely place to stop by for a couple of nights.

Truly magical”
There is something very special about both Rawla Narlai and Narlai itself. It's so peaceful, gentle and welcoming as well as being stunningly beautiful. We have stayed in 10 hotels during our tour of Rajasthan and this was far and away the nicest room that we've had. The staff were utterly delightful and helpful. We went on the leopard safari organised by the hotel in the evening and whilst we didn't see any leopards it was still a fun outing into the countryside. Do take the walk up the 750 steps to the elephant on top of the hill - it's worth the pain as the views are exceptional.

Top end 3 star”
rooms, ambience, location
blissfully off the beaten yet an interesting village around which one of the staff took us on a tour. Staff sometimes a bit too ingratiating perhaps and food good though not too adventurous given the clientele they are likely to get. Otherwise faultless. You even get well behaved monkeys having their breakfast on the top of the high hedge yet not attempting to join you for yours. If you want to chill in India this place must be as good as any.

An oasis. ”
The fantastic food, impeccable service and tranquility.
This was amazing value for money. Don't moss the village walk - a real insight into life in rural india. The staff cannot be faulted. They are friendly and go above and beyond. I highly recommend this hotel.

Total relaxation”
The room. The ambiance. The pool
Very enjoyable. The only downside is the breakfast. Very hit and miss and the quality not up to standard.
