It’s an old hotel but for the price and the room conditions I’m very happy”
Staff with low or minimum English . I recommend to the traveller to download any application with a Chinese translation capability . Bank teller machine located at the lobby. Location of the hotel is ok , near fast Food restaurants and local shops . A big mall Across the road with everything.

Location”
The location is superb, it is just 10 minutes walk to the subway. It is near to xujiahui stop, which is good as it is a prime shopping area there.

Strategic location ”
Strategic location. Room is a bit small and old but still acceptable. The only drawback is the room heater system. We stayed this hotel during winter, that's why we choose a hotel with room heater. Unfortunately the temperature of the heater is uncontrollable. It became too hot at the middle of night and caused us can's sleep well. My suggestion is, the management should upgrade the hotel facilities. It doesn't matter if the hotel is old but at least the facilities are in good condition and maintain cleanliness.

good for quick trip ”
hotel was ok but not great, room was nice but small. they do service also ok but their heater wasn't working good and I had to wear my sweater in the room. but the only good thing is location which central and near place most tourist or foreigner would go to , along with restaurant and subway stations

Room 3633 is unacceptable ”
I can’t say about other rooms but the one I had was dated, stained sinks, stained toilet seats, had unreliable water pressure for showers and kinda stank abit. I ended up only staying there 2 nights out of the planned 8nights. I originally booked there as it was close to a venue I was going there for but obviously couldn’t tough it out. The upside I had was the staff did try to help me out with getting taxis and getting my postal train tickets and check in and out process was relatively easy. So end caution is be ready if you get room 3633 in building 2C, most likely you will ask for a room change but that communication barrier was a hassle for me so I just booked elsewhere.

Dirtiest Hotel in Shanghai”
1. If you walk in to the toilet, your foot will turn black. 2. There is a band-aid stick on the toilet door frame. 3. Temperature of the central aircon cannot be adjusted, it is so hot and I called the front desk. They send me a technician to tell me that is not adjustable. Moreover, the aircon is keep on on and off whole night.

Not a 4 star hotel/ Not value for money ”
Reception very rude, not helpful,do not have suitable facility for handicapped person, room bed sheet, pillow sheet not clean up eventhough there are room services every day. Have bad impression on this hotel services since day 1. We have stayed there for 4 days.

Acceptable”
Room was standard although building a high rise block. Lined up to check out long. When turn game the woman briskly just walked out . Hardly good service. Hotel extremely Chinese. One toilet on ground floor and was blocked and filly. Booked it as on 50 percent rate but actually was not worth that rate I paid.

Good value hotel”
The Rayfont hotel is fine, nothing special, but it charges a reasonable rate. I picked it because it is close to the old lanes restaurant area called Tianzifeng. This is just a 5 min walk away. Breakfast is included, which is a nice surrpise, and whilst the dining room itself is dated looking, you get an egg station and a reasonable choice of Eastern and western food. In-room internet is extra, but only about $5 a day. And it is close to a subway station, too! There are two major areas to go eating at night. Xin Tiandi has a lot of bar with bad Filippino copy bands and is quite yuppy. Tianxzifeng is more quaint, with more diverse restaurants and quirky shops. About 5 min walk from the hotel is an area of old lanes that has been refurbiched to house a hundred small restaurants. They are old chinese houses and some have upstairs and some even have balconies. There are a few odd and ecclectic shops. This is probably my favourite area in Shanghai. You will find many Asian flavours, indian, thai, japanese, italian and more. There are small shops sellings ouvenirs, fake ties, leather writing books and original 50's sunglasses. As usual in China, buyer beware.

Great Location, great stay!”
This is my second time staying at Rayfront Downtown Hotel. My first experience was good and given me the confidence for me to come back again this time. I love the location of the hotel and enjoy my stay. The room charge is reasonable. I will choose Rayfront again if I come back Shanghai next time. One thing which i think it needs improvment is that the hotel should allow for free Wifi service.

NIce and clean hotel, near shopping & tourism spot”
The room is very clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful although with limited english spoken staff, but they try their best to speak in english. As you have to aware when travel to Shanghai that majority of the residences could not speak english, so tourists must equip themselves with little basic mandarin, event in the airport or central town in Shanghai. This hotel is very near to Tian Zi Fang, a nice artistic and antique market in town that's been one of the tourism spots. It's located at the opposite of the main street to the right. Near Tian Zi Fang you could find a SML Shopping Center and inside this at LG level, you could find Dapuqiao metro train station. You could easily access to central town using this train. The price of the room is very reasonably cheap as the location of the hotel is near to central town and attraction area and it's very worthed for money. The negative about this hotel is that it doesn't have internet wifi, but you could get a phone SIM card China Unicom at the SML Shopping Center, so that you could easily access the internet everywhere during your visit in Shanghai. I'll definitely stay at this hotel for next trip to Shanghai.

Very good price for what you get”
The hotel is right next to a skybridge, which takes you to Dapuqiao Station of the Shanghai subway. The subway is the best way to explore city on budget. It's also almost impossible to get a cab during rush hour and dinner time(4pm-7pm). There is a Watsons, Mcdonalds, and Pizza Hut at the bottom of the skybridge, but I recommend crossing the bridge into the basement of the mall which has the metro station and a wide variety of local and foreign flavours. Xintiandi has a great pedestrian only street with bars and restaurants. Jingan has a few clubs that you can go to if you're interested. Hollywood is ladies night on Wednesday, and is packed with expats. Familiarize yourself with the Shanghai metro lines to get to the places you want to go. Most likely, there will be a station where you want to go, and most likely, you will have a hard time finding a cab back to the hotel around dinner time, so try to have dinner before heading back.

Return Visit”
It was definitely worth while paying the little extra for the business room with the larger bed and bigger room. Still had the beautiful balcony overlooking downtown PuXi and a much more spacious bathroom. Only issues I could have with the hotel is the location of the Pool and gym facilities and the bar fridge. The pool and gym require a 5 minute walk to the Celebrity Hotel. The facilities themselves are quite good and the pool was fantastic in the heat but the shower/change room area was covered in water and so not the most ideal. The bar fridge didn't adequately cool the bottled drinks which was dissapointing given the heat of Shanghai.

Great price, service and location”
I usually feel like home at Rayfont. The staff is very friendly and the location is superb. Whenever I have the time, I like to explore the area around the hotel. I always find something new about this area. If you travelling with your family or by yourself, you will all find that Rayfont is your choice. There are many shops and restaurants for all sorts of taste.

Great location would stay again”
We really enjoyed staying at Rayfont Downtown Hotel. The rooms were clean and satisfactory. It is conveniently close to the metro and shopping centres and restaurants are also handy. We would recommend this hotel to tourists for short-term stays.

Great Price and even better location!”
We had a nice stay at the Rayfont Downtown. We were traveling with our 5 year old daughter for a month in China and the hotel sooted our needs. It was in a wonderful location close to the metro station and plenty of great shopping and restaurants around. It hotel even had an indoor pool and gym that we used almost everyday. There was even a small kids play gym in a park area where resedents would bring there kids as well. The staff was quick to fix our sink when it clogged up as well as when the air-condition stopped to work. I would highly recomend this hotel if you are on a tight budget but what a great location. It could have been cleaner as the longer we stayed the less the cleaning they did but all in all it was a good choice. Just to note the coffee shop has free wifi but the rooms are cable internet and you pay per min with a max per day. r
