Friendly and helpful staff, clean”
Although the location wasn’t the optimal the hostel was very clean and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. You can use kitchen and there is locker that fits whole bag. A lot of people complained about the smell, which I could smell during the day but at night it was fine. Overall it was really good value for money.
This place relatively clean and the staff are friendly. The location is unusual and you get to see local life. The walls are very thin so you can hear all noises from other travellers, there is suppose to be silence from 10pm but some people do not follow this, this should be enforced more strictly so other travellers can enjoy their stay more. On a night time in the toilets there is a very strong smell of sewage, but during the day it’s ok.
Hi, I have booked one bed for two nights - 12-14 April 2019. The thing is that in the room there were bedbugs. Although I have advised regarding the bites that I had and the staff cleaned the room it did not helped. Today (13 April) I have told the staff that these are definitely bed bugs and I requested changing room. The owner advised that according to their policy if someone says that there are bedbugs, they do not transfer anybody to any other room. The only option is to leave the place and find another place, which I did. Therefore, for this night (13/14 April) I am not staying at the homestay and I request the refund for one night. If anything else is required from my end, please let me know. The staff from the homestay advised me to request for the refund directly from you. Thank you in advance, Karolina
There are bedbugs in the rooms. I stayed in the 4-bed room and although the staff cleaned the room when I told them that I was bitten by some insects it didn't help. One of the staff ladies said that these must have been mosquitoes, so she cleaned everything and put the materaces in the sun. The next night was the same story with visible bedbug bites. When I requested the room change as I have another night to stay, I was told that according to the homestay's policy, I need to leave the place. No new room for me. When I spoke with other guests, it turned out that I was not the only one who was bitten. I think that the owner and staff know about the problem, but they do nothing about it. I saw a new guest staying in my ex-room. I couldn't believe it, so I advised the poor girl about the issue. I think that both the owner and staff do nothing about it and acts surprised everytime they hear that somebody was bitten by bedbugs.
Best Backpacker's Choice”
The location of this place is located a little bit far from the main city. Walking in this neighborhood is safe. People here are very welcoming. This place is ment to those backpackers who wants a cheaper but a cozy feel of a homestay facility. There's no private comfort room but they have a designated common CR for their guests. Free use of TV and kitchen - you can buy your food at the food market and cook it by yourselves within RB Transient house. Their staffs will assist you whatever you need and arrange vans and tours for you during your stay. This is cheap, very comfortable to stay. 😎😎😎😎😎
Weeks before our trip, I called RB to confirm my reservation with them. They told me that if I have ”
already received the booking confirmation from Agoda, then it’s all set. Come our check-in day last March 27, at around 4pm, but the frontdesk attendant Trisha couldn’t check us in. She kept on calling someone on the phone upon our arrival. She explained that our room was already occupied and she would have to downgrade our room reservation and just refund the difference. I didn’t agree to it because the room that i booked was the only one that had its own bathroom, which is our major requirement. She offered that they will move us the next day to our original room IF the current occupants move out the next day. Again, it raised a red flag since there was no assurance that we would even be transfered the next day. They tried booking us to other hotels but there were no longer available rooms since it was very short notice. Even though we got a full refund, no compensation was given for the hassle, time and money wasted on re-booking a hotel on the spot.
Bedbugs and sewage smells in a slum area. ”
In my humble opinion, this hostel needs to be demolished. Everything about it conspires to make you have an unfortunate experience with bedbugs, and that’s exactly what happen with a number of guests in multiple rooms during my stay. I booked for 4 nights but could only tolerate three. The business, at the very least, needs to be transparent about the nature of the location of the hostel. It’s located in what is essentially a slum area, located within in a mangrove swam filled with refuse and the stench of sewage. For some reason, at night, the smell of sewage is even more apparent as the smells find their way into your sleeping quarters. The very structure of the building itself lends to bedbug infestation. Anyway, I could go on... You get what you pay for.
Amazing value for money”
Everything in Coron seemed booked out or overpriced and then we found RB Transient house. Very cheap accommodation but very much worth its price. It’s simple but perfect for people on a budget. We stayed in a private room with a fan, since the place is close to the sea it was never too hot. Pros: -spacious room -all facilities were very clean -fully equiped kitchen and fridge for guests to use -friendly staff who can help book tours Con: -no hot shower -shared bathroom among a larger group of people, never dirty but sometimes you had to wait a bit before use -around 10/15 minute walk to the busy centre where most restaurants are -thin walls would make it noisy if fellow travellers in the building would not speak quietly early in the morning
They were amazing!”
The place is very affordable but still you can relax while enjoying your stay in Coron. The staff were very friendly that they treat us as family! Hello Jane and to all the babies! If I will decide to go bak to Coron, I will still stay in RB Transtient. Kudos guys!!!!
Good for the value”
The rooms are spacious and the showers are really good! A bit dark but clean and I like the black curtains. Actually there is a lot of mosquitos and wifi just work near the reception or restaurant! The breakfast buffet is good for what you pay! I loved it!
Living as a local ”
This hostel is very clean. It is in the middle of a mangrove and I really enjoyed my stay here. The bridge that I saw in many reviews is fine and safe. Just be aware on your way back at night (bring a torch or use your phone's flashlight)! The only complain is the water during the night time. You can't shower after you come back around 11 pm. Lack of water and pressure on the shower. Overall, people here is quite and polite. Don't expect a party place and common area is only the kitchen.
A Nice Staying in Lovely Northern Palawan”
At first, it was a shock for me to arrive in the House entrance...the facility is located in a very poor neighbourhood, i had to walk on a handmade wooden bridge over a mud river. The petite lady that manages guest is a kind, smiley and hard working person. I got assisted with info, bookings (the tour operator they send clients to is satisfactory), i was served a delicious breakfast and got covered with anything i asked for. The room was ok, it was a fun room, oldie but comfy. The price is very good and i will prefer it again when i revisit Coron.
The cheapest lodging house in Coron”
Pros: Cheap, ideal for travelers, staffs are friendly and accommodating, not a fancy transient house but comfortable, the bathroom is nice, you can use the kitchen to cook your own food Cons: Not airconditioned, location is hard to find at first Overall: Best cheapest place in Coron. Ideal for travelers.
Feet at home throughout my stay!! Thank you so much for all the assistance especially in organizing my tours since I'm a solo traveller!! Would definitely come back and stay here again!! See you soon!
the staff was so nice and accommodating.... My family stayed there with three kids. Though the place was a bit far from the center market, it's ok you can ride a motor cab...... The place for travelers who doesn't want to pay much...
Pros: very affordable (for those spending the whole day touring and only need a place to sleep this is the place), friendly staff, kitchen is free to use for cooking, town proper is 5 to 10 minutes walk, welcoming neighbors Cons: water interruption between 9pm to 6pm, rough road going inside the transient, Highly recmmended for budgetarian =) travellers
Greatnesses Out of Nowhere”
The place is in Coron’s squatters area sorrounded by mangroves. So don’t get surprise if google maps directs you to the sea coz the house is in the sea. The staffs were amazing, especially to Trish. Overall great place to stay especially if on the budget.
Worst place we’ve ever been”
We stayed in rb transient 3 nights, that’s was enough!! The room is basic, not so bad at all...but we took the family room eith private bathroom. One of the problems was the place around, like a stinky landfill. You can feel the smell inside the room. The place is not clean, neither rooms...we ask to the staff for clean service (included in the facilities on agoda) and they never cleaned anything. No towels in the room, sometimes no water, low wifi, and the best thing: all night and day you will hear the annoying sound of the water pump! They always forgot to switch off that for the night. Last thing...cockroaches included in the price!
It is a good option if you want to cook! Our room was a little bit hot, but ok. Shower is clean and good. It is not so easy to find, but once you are there you can see where and how local people live.
Cheap but horrible location”
What the pictures dont show you is that this place is located on a swamp. The room we stayed at smelled like sewer. We booked for 6 days but couldnt stay for more than 1 because it's just on a horrible location. You have to walk on a wooden walkway that could give out any moment and havr you fall to into a nasty pit full of sewage and excrement. We tried to get a refund due to all the above but could not get one in spite of having stayed just one night. Stay here at your own risk.
