Cozy hotel and excellent location ”
I really enjoyed my time at the Red Inn Guesthouse. I stayed in a 2-bed mixed dorm room. I had the dorm to myself the first night and then shared it the other nights. The Guesthouse has a nice common area where you can meet other travellers. The breakfast included was pretty good for the price: fruit, some local snacks, toast, coffee and tea. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location in the heart of Georgetown.

the hostel is clean, modern and has lovely dorms, as well as a nice communal area. the staff are really friendly and will answer any questions you have about how to get around penang, and you can also book boat trips with them and there are leaflets abotu popular sights as well. the breakfast is really nice and simple (there's bread and a toaster, eggs, fruit, sausages, fruit loaf, tea, coffee) and it feels really homely. nice air-con rooms and clean bathrooms with new showers. in a nice area close to good restaurants, an outdoor food court called the red garden (definitely go here and have an indian from tandoori- brilliant!) and it has a great atmosphere. the price is really reasonable, and it was one of the best hostels i've ever stayed in.

Good location and good service”
easy to find on google map. very strong air condition so don't worry too hot. just you will feel quite dry in the room. you can rent motorcycle in front of red inn. around per day. they very helpful. even after check-out i still can leave my luggage in red inn until 9:30pm take it back. it make we don't need carry luggage in afternoon.

Lovely hotel and great serving staff”
I spent 4nights in red inn. The hotel is clean especialy the bathroom. Staff was friendly and willing to help us to book a taxi and the taxi provided from them is a great to give us good service upon reaching our destination. Room and bed is very nice and the bathroom was clean although it was small for a couple of them but there is a big one on level 2. With spa showering.It was great. Will recommend my friends to stay with them if they would like to go penang for their trips.

me and my boyfriend visit penang for leisure and we are trying to looking for a place to stay. at the first time we thought that red inn will not be that good, we dont expect to much at first. but when we arrived at the room, both of us like the room, it is clean, neat, and the bathroom is clean and provided with water heater. nice place to stay..

Cheap hostel with smile service but no sound proof”
It is worth of money to stay at Red Inn guesthouse. The place is clean. The staff is friendly and service-minded. With this price you might not expect well treat. However, staff here is always smiles, happy to assist you even though it quite hard to find something for you. At least, they showed that they already tried it for you. However, it is tricky that when you book the room with bathroom attached. You are expecting bathroom and toilet inside your sleeping room. BUT at Red Inn, yes, you have bathroom inside, however, you still need to go out the room for toilet. Sound proof here is also not good. I can hear next doors' talking, upstairs' people walking or hallway people walking when they are goin to toilet. And it is not good for person who bring their own car. Not many parking here and also the narrow street.

Nice stay for backpackers”
At first, we were lost because there are so many Red Inn Hotels along Love Lane.We got a double room at the end of ground floor and we stayed there for 3 nights. The room is clean,the staffs are friendly and helpful. .There is a chair,a small,round coffee table and a small mirror on the wall.The room is small but there is still a lot of space for keeping luggage.Although it is near to the kitchen and bathrooms, but we didn't experience any unpleasant smells or noise. Even the shared bathrooms are clean and water heater is available in every bathrooms.The only one problem which is very important for considering staying at this hotel is the bad soundproofing.The wooden partition and the wooden ceiling was terrible.We could hear people walking upstairs, people talking next door,sounds of hair dryer from ceiling every night.As we are not light sleepers, so it didn't cause much problem for us. But it was really annoyed when we were talking,and at the time ready to sleep.There was water leaking from the ceiling and we were told that it was water from air-conditioner.Besides,there is only one socket in the room so we couldn't charge our phone and camera at the same time. The blanket was terrible, wool came off from the blanket and clung to clothes or other fabrics.Overall,for the price we paid,we were satisfied with the stay.

excellent staff, clean comfortable bed”
the staff were so nice! most places in penang you get treated very badly because they assume you are a young party backpacker who will leave in 24 hours. the lady was so pleasant and helpful. i have had terrible experiences with rude/short temper staff at all banana locations. the room and showers were very clean! thank you red inn! will stay here if i return to penang. good location for georgetown close to little india food!!

Kind staff, varying rooms”
red inn actually has three outlets in central george town. the oldest property is a lovely, narrow heritage house with chocolate brown wood floors, but many rooms are windowless and damp. even though all the mattresses were being replaced, they were having a constant bed bug problem. so they moved us to the second property they have, just up the street, which is newer but less charming. finally, we were moved to the third building, which is the newest addition to the line-up. the third one, called red inn cabana, has bigger, newer rooms, but you'll get the noise from the adjacent red cafe (a popular night food court). every staff member we encountered was very polite and friendly, so even though it was a bit of a bother having to move between properties, we didn't mind too much.

room no8 aircond not functioning. there's water supply problem at second floor bathrooms the room is clean enough but the pillow labelled with "RIP" which was quite horrible (although it stands for Red Inn Penang)

good guesthouse located in George Town”
for my first time in Penang and travel alone, i satisfied this guesthouse very much. in reality i did not need and expect anything too much because i made decision to stayed in dormitory room but i can say they made me beyond expectation - nice staffs - toilet and bathroom..very clean - pillow/bed sheet..very clean - pillow and mattress..good quality guesthouse located on good location, convenience for everything such as eating,shopping,travelling and walking

Suitable for Budget Backpacker”
If you are a budget traveler, Red Inn is one of the choice for you to get a shelter. But remember what you paid what you get, the rates is cheap and affordable for anyone, but the bed not so comfortable for me, and bad sound proof. The Inn located in the UNESCO area, which easy access to the local attraction and just cross a street you can get many nice local food. Which I think this is the Inn best selling point. But there are still a lot of same range hostel at this area which I think are more comfortable compare to Red Inn.

New Guest house near Upper Penang Road”
i have booked red inn guesthouse on love lane but when i went to check in, there was no room for me. red inn staff provided me a dorm room at red inn cabana instead which also belongs to red inn group. i stayed alone in 4-bed dorm room for one night. it was quite silent inside the place but a loud noise from pubs nearby. the room is very clean and is a good place for backpacker.

I have stayed in Red Inn once before. But this time is not as good as before. The room is quiet, but we found a mice in our room (2nd floor). It is unbelieveable. The staff are changed. Anyway, i wont stay there next time.

Beautiful old building but no insulation (loud)”
my husband and i spent three nights here while we were applying for visas to thailand. the location of this guesthouse was great. we could walk to most sites in georgetown from here easily. there's also good hawker food and some small bars very close. the staff at red inn was wonderful and they were very helpful in assisting with our visas and getting us booked on a minibus to our next location. also, the building is an old shophouse and i thought it was really beautiful. the rooms are basic but clean and a good deal for the price. we stayed in a private room with a bathroom but there are also dorm rooms available. our one big problem with this guesthouse was how loud it was. because the building is so old there's no insulation in the walls so you can hear every footstep, cough, door closing, shower running, toilet flushing etc. whether it is 2am and people are coming home from bars or 6am and getting up to take showers. my husband is a light sleeper and could barely fit in 3 or 4 hours of sleep each night. this really put a damper on our time in georgetown.

A bit run down but great location”
I stayed in the double (apparently the only room with a double bed I was told) on the ground floor and it was a windowless room that needed a bit of TLC to make it nice. Was probably a nice room in the past but needs refurbishment, just a coat of paint would do the trick. I stayed in Old Penang next door a couple of years ago and remember popping in to check Red Inn out and it looked much nicer then. AC worked fine, the bed was comfy, the room a little cramped but ok. The communual bathrooms also could do with some upkeep but everything worked fine. The staff are friendly, especially Jemson (with the afro) who does the breakfast. Wifi was not usable in the room so we had to hang out in the communual area for our internet needs.

Excellent backpacker style”
This is so far an excellent backpacker location in Penang. Room is clean and the staffs are friendly. If ever I go back to Penang, I will surely book here again. I can't complain, it's value for the money.

Small, basic hostel.”
Do yourself a favour, and stay the the Red Inn no.15 on the same street. I went in this one first, and was told i'm at 55...Sadly this one is not as good. The one at 15 is a great hostel, one of the best i've stayed in. Large open plan, very modern and airy. Big TV with plenty of seating, nice free good coffee and tea..lot nice to hang around in, better internet aswell. I tried to get a transfer, but wouldn't let me.. so i simply spent my time at 15, apart from sleeping. No.55 is ok at best, but lot smaller, and not as nice, no atmosphere,poor net, basic brekie, ok showers you share wiht a toilet. But 15 beats it hands down in everyway... My score is based on my stay at red inn no.55. but lot higher for no.15

Good location and nice place!!”
The staffs are nice and stand by until late night. I stayed in 6 beds dormitory with shared bathroom which were clean. The guesthouse has a unique style of building that you can feel and enjoy Penang heritage city. The location is very easy to go and surrounding with tasty food.

Lively place with decent rooms”
beds are nice although room is small but expected for the price paid. atmosphere is nice, and walking distance to food and bus stop. breakfast doesn't start til 8:30am so if you book a day trip like i did then you will not get the free breakfast. there's another red inn on the same street that looks much nice but prices must be higher.
