Dirty, horrible room”
My family stayed at Lansing West MSU 7412 West Saginaw Highway, Lansing location room number 236 on 5/7/2022. This was a horrible experience. This room was dirty, smelled horrible, and was not functional. It smells like a combination of wet dog, mold, cigarettes, and sweaty gym socks. Dusty, bedding and towels were not clean. The door has a large gap when closed you can see the outside from inside the room. The desk chair was not usable due to a huge tear on the seat. The carpet stained. Profanity written on the walls. The sink drain is so full of foul smelling mold sewage it did not drain. The curtains have a large tear with duck tape on them. The alarm clock was broken and not functioning. I could go on. All other hotels in the area were sold out. It was this or the car and the car would have been a safer, cleaner, more comfortable choice!!!

Only marginally adequate”
We stayed 3 nights, no room service, somewhat updated decor but room needed deeper cleaning. (some dust and dirt in corners and drawers). Long term guests live at the hotel and many people with pets causing odors. People hanging around in their cars for long periods of time. Cigerette butts all around the property. We would not recommend this hotel and we will not return.

Good bed & no frills -very loud neighbors”
We stayed at the Red Roof Oct 19 & 20. Ground floor room. The beds were comfortable and the staff were nice ... the people in the adjoining room were very loud standing out side my door talking loudly, and sounded like they were having a party in the room.. I complained to the woman at the front desk (the next morning) who said oh I know who that is and I’ll take care of it. The next night seemed to be ok till they returned at 1:30 and stood out side the room, arguing when one man said I’m gonna go get my knife and come back and cut you.... needless to say i didn’t get much sleep the rest of the night.... I talked to the morning manager who said we don’t tolerate that kind of behavior and she would address it with the person... I asked if it was a long term guest ... she said she wouldn’t say.... she said I apologize for your problem.... I told her that didn’t help me with two nights of no sleep.... I also told her that’s why red roof has such bad reviews & reputation.

Just what we needed . . .”
Arrived in Detroit on a late flight, started north towards our destination. Decided some sleep would be nice but the hotels were silly expensive. Then we found the Red Roof Inn, half the cost of the others. The young lady at the desk was busy, but still was friendly and polite at 2am. The room was dated, but clean and quiet. After breakfast at Bob Evans down the street, we were good to go.
