I had a lovely time, due largely to the friendliness of Amandine & Tristan (the business owners) and Arthur the main front-of-house bloke. They are all excellent hosts and good conervsationalists who clearly respect and appreciate Kep, Cambodia and its people.
A cute guesthouse with suspect quality control”
The Rega Hotel is the same property as the Rega Guesthouse, in case this confuses anyone. The good: -the property itself is cute and thoughtfully decorated -the owner/manager seems genuinely friendly and eager to please -the fan room is simple but tasteful, and the fan is mounted above the bed to keep mosquitoes away, so no problems there. Pretty much as expected for $10/room/night The bad: -the sheet on our bed was pretty obviously stained, as were the very worn towels -the sheet was also damp, though this is likely not the fault of Rega Guesthouse (this is apparently a common symptom of the rainy season when periods of high humidity are followed by very high temperatures) -when we checked out, we had a miscommunication with the staff member who at first refused to believe that we had prepaid through Agoda -the location isn't optimal due to the rather stretched layout of Kep. Although Rega Guesthouse is only a few blocks away from the jetty to Koh Tonsay, most boat tickets you can buy will include a free hotel pickup which negates the need to be close to the jetty. Everywhere else in the Kep area is a couple of kilometers away, like the beach, crab market, and the main strip of shops and restaurants. None of these were a huge deal, but the lack of quality control for basic cleanliness and upkeep of the linens is a bit offputting. They did appear washed, just permanently stained, but new sheets and towels are one of the most standard of recurring expenses in the hospitality business so ensuring that the inventory rotating through the rooms is in good shape goes a long way toward promoting guest satisfaction. This is definitely a place that caters to backpackers so our expectations were obviously lower, but the place we stayed at next was significantly higher quality for only $2 more per night. Because of these reasons, I unfortunately cannot recommend Rega Guesthouse at this time and would not go back again.
Quaint little place with amazing meals. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff just as much. The rooms were standard and could have been a bit tidier, but overall it was a nice place to stay. Thank you for your hospitality!
Best Guesthouse ever! ”
Highly recommended, the staff was really friendly and helpful, the location was really nice, just a short stroll to Kep Beach, comfortable room at a very good rate. I will definitely come back here again!
My stay was enjoyable, relaxing
Good stay at Rega Hotel”
Good stay at Rega hotel, very helpful staff always willing to help. A little way from Kep beach but close to the pier to go to Rabbit island.
for a nice and quiete place graet vote, in Kep”
I had a short but very nice stay in Rega Hotel and will surely spend again some time.
Very well taken care”
Very well managed and lovely garden for a relaxation. Cleanliness is Top for this little guess house. People are friendly and smiling most times.
Very well relax in the Hotel, and a nice garden ”
Staying in Rega was unexpectedly of higher value than the rates pay for. The place and the surrounding are well kept clean and green. I have a great time just been solo sitting in the garden having coffees and surfing the internet without disturbances. It doesn't feel like a hotel but more like a home with everyone yet having quiet time for yourself. Its proximity to the jetty point is only a 20 mins slow walk, and another 30 mins by boat to Rabbit Island for the beach side. I have enjoy my stay in Kep with the Rega Hotel as the base. Thanks Rega for the hospitality.
Rooms stank, but nice hotel”
Bad things - 1st room the shower was broken - no hot water and the rest to hold it up was broken. The bathroom, because of the pipes smelt very bad. Moved room - shower was again broken - this time there was hot water, but leaking water from the pipe. Again, the room stank. Good things, the French female manager was very nice and was apologetic about the situation. The food was also very nice.
Quiet, relaxed hotel”
Our stay was pretty good. I know it is a budget hotel, but the room was not very clean upon check in and we had to ask for new sheets as ours were very dirty. The owner explained they didnt have enough sheets to change the beds everyday. Fine as long as they are changed after the previous guest, we can sleep in the same sheets for the duration of our stay. We also had a few dead/alive cockroaches in our room and a ton of dead bugs all over the bathroom. The food was quite tasty and there was a nice variety, but during my last meal I found what appeared to be dental floss or a long string in my food. It is a pretty quiet place when the french owners arent up late talking with their friends. We did not get the same attention as some guests as we are not french and often felt we were in the way. We found another hotel where we rented bikes as the Rega does not actually have any, that was only a dollar more, MUCH cleaner and nicer with a sea view and very friendly and welcoming staff. No need to book ahead in this town, show up and ask around for the best deal. If you speak french you will have an easier time in the town of Kep.
Very comfortable and excellent value-for-money”
An excellent experience. Superb value for money and worth it at twice the price. A little way outside the town centre, but this adds to the peacefulness of the location. Wonderful hosts.
Relaxing, good service and comfortable”
Our stay was brief but enjoyable. Although at the budget end, you can notice the extra effort put into making the rooms and garden look beautiful. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. And it's perfectly located to jump off the bus from Phnom Penh and jump on a boat to rabbit island the next day.
Great staff kind and helpful”
I spent three nights at Rega Guetsthouse. The owners are a young french couple so friendly and helpful. They have plenty of advices about what to visit, have some motorbikes to rent. There room was nice, the hotel has a small nice garden where you can spend time for chilling, having lunch or drinking some cocktails. Probably the best guesthouse I've been in Cambodia.
This hotel is situated right in the center of the semi-abandoned former resort town of Kep which makes it quiet and relaxing and a short walk to the pier for sunsets. The food was delicious with some French fare from the French owners. The staff was friendly and allowed me to use a bike for free - also very knowledgeable about the area. The wifi was reliable but a bit slow. The room was clean and well decorated.
Fantastic guest house”
I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone, young or old. All the guests we spoke to had only good things to say. Well priced, good food, good people, relaxing and kep is very nice.
Great hotel but in the middle of nowhere”
The hotel has a lovely garden restaurant which serves decent food and complimentary breakfasts, decent rooms with good bathrooms and complimentary toiletries but it's main problem is it's in the middle of nowhere. There is a little centre to kep which consists of 3 or 4 shops but that's about it, and this hotel is a couple of miles away from there anyway. There is literally nothing in the immediate vicinity. If you have to stay in Kep this is a decent place to stay but my preference would be to skip Kep altogether.
Quiet place, peaceful setting”
this is our second time staying at rega and we love it. the simple and spotless rooms are situated around a lovely garden creating a very tranquil environment to relax in. the staff are very friendly and helpful. meals served in the restaurant are delicious. when the a/c wasn't functioning, we received a discount off our bill. we would definitely come again.
Nice and relaxing hotel”
We had a great time in Rega. Good food and service. Also good atmosphere and nice gardens.
Very lovely Hotel good location, service w. smile”
