One of the Best in Shanghai”

Just about the perfect hotel (especially if you're a tennis player - 11 tennis courts with coaches available to hit with). Beautiful rooms; great dining and room service food options, great location in the city, short walk to the Hengshan Rd metro stop, friendly staff with good English skills, The rooms are serviced daily and kept in immaculate shape, never a long wait for elevators. Won't even look for another hotel - if I'm going to Shanghai I'm staying at the Regal International.

Another Great Stay”

Another very enjoyable stay at the Regal Int'l East Asia. The staff is very professional and most speak very good English. The rooms, lobby and restaurants are all in excellent condition - hard to believe this is still such an affordable hotel. The wi-fi was always available and very easy to connect to. This is my go to hotel for any trip to Shanghai.

The Regal East Asia”

Cosy quiet rooms, proximity to shopping centers, subway station, food and drink outlets.
Lifts amy be crowded at times.

The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the famous XuJiaHui district with many large departmental stores and fine restaurants. Nearer home and within 2 to 5 minutes walking distance are restaurants, bars and convenience stores, as well as the Hengshan Road subway station with direct connetion to the Shanghai Main Railway station to the north and the Shanghai South Railway station to the South. The Hengshan Xiao Guan serve delicious Cantonese cuisine is only 100 meters east of the hotel along Hengshan Road. The room I stayed in is spacious, well furnished and well lit and convenienmt to work in.

6 star hotel with full sports facilities”

I grew up in Shanghai and lived nearby this hotel. It was the first tennis club meets international standards and an incon building in the area. As a kid, I always wondered how what kind of people to go there and play tennis there. This hotel didn't disappoint us, massive room with well maintained public area. Our bed was in king size and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and again specious. Their staff are nice, but not down to earth, maybe they feel proud to work for a nice hotel like this. We would recommend to update their key card access system, since there are more updated technology and to keep up their 5 / 6 star standards. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good Value, Great Location”

This is my second time staying at the Regal. My overall take on it is very good. The hotel was probably built in the 90s and is a bit dated, but it makes up for it with good value and a great location. Just a few steps from Hengshan Rd. Station on line 1. and walkable to restaurants in Xujiahui and former french concessions.

Quaint hotel in convenient location.”

Very clean with comforatable beds.

i stayed in a regal club room which was quite nice. the hotel staff were always attentive and polite. the room was very clean with the maids cleaning the room quite thoroughly each day. the breakfast that comes with the room package was ok but that is to be expected. the free canapes and drinks in the evening were great. i did order room service once and the meal, fried rice, was very good and came quickly. overall i had a great experience and would definitely stay here again.

Another great stay at the Regal International”

The location, the suite, and the staff

Great communication before I arrived; I received an email confirming they would be ready for a late check-in. The suite I had for 11 days was in perfect condition and the staff kept it very clean every day. A nice touch - 4 pillows of varied soft/hardness to choose from. The exercise facilities, including tennis courts, were top notch. And on the day I was leaving the staff watched my bags while I was out and had a taxi ready for my departure. I will be staying there again next year and for every trip to Shanghai. A real 5 star hotel for that price is incredible.

Great way to start a China trip”

Very close to Pudong airport-free shuttle both ways. Comfortable beds, quiet surroundings, very friendly and helpful staff. Clean
I found nothing wrong with it.

Since our flight arrived in China at 8:30 p.m. my husband and I decided we would stay near the airport rather than drive an additional 2+ hours to Suzhou. What a great decision that was. I booked the hotel through Agoda, and the Regal was exactly as advertised-quiet, clean and friendly. Actually, it exceeded our expectations. We were able to start our trip the next morning refreshed and rested. WE also had breakfast there and it was quite good.

Decent hotel but the room was uninspired”

location, lobby

Check-in was simple and painless (their front desk speaks English and Chinese if that's important to you.) They even accommodated a 10am check-in. However, I was underwhelmed with the room. First, the TV didn't work properly, then the shower-head didn't stay put where I set it up in the bathroom and there was no good view from the window. The basic amenities were there, but nothing fancy. The gym consists mostly of treadmills around a window, and the swimming pool is not inside the hotel building but rather in another building outside, which I was disappointed about. Anyway, the room was very clean, and the breakfast was alright but there are definitely much better 5* hotels in Shanghai.

The hotel accomodation and service was really good”

If you stay here do not miss the chance do the sauna, and gym activities. They also have aerobic, pillate and yoga in different day, you do not need to pay as long you already check in this hotel. The important thing, you need to ask which level for that activity. It is not only that, the hotel is so convenient for walking streets, there is a garden, spa massage, salon, supermarket and 2 halal food restaurant nearby the hotel. I really love the sauna room here, so spacious with a lot of facility and service, I'm really enjoy and hope to be welcome here again.

Nice hotel, beautiful neighborhood”

The neighborhood in the french quarter, good value

We love the neighborhood, local restaraunts, and beautiful tree lined streets - has a European feel (we lived in a building just accross the street from the hotel a number of years ago). The hotel is comfortable, clean and the staff are pleasant. However, the main attractions are the restaraunts, bars, parks, an shopping in a neighborhood setting in this lovely part of Shanghai.

It's the little things that matter”

I will always stay here, but I do have some issues. • For the first time ever, I was treated poorly in the California restaurant. I asked for a topping-off of my coffee in the morning and you would have thought I asked for a free breakfast. I got a dirty look and a five minute delay while the woman finished folding napkins. • The remodeled rooms are great, but the water controls in the bathroom basin are just horrible. I could not tell “off” from “on”, they are difficult to turn with dry hands and nearly impossible to turn with wet hands. • My room smelled of construction glue and diesel fuel since I think they were working on the room above mine (11th floor) or close enough to get foul odors into my air exchange system. • The internet service in the rooms cannot handle the current load by those who log on. When people only had computers, it worked fine, but today everyone has computers and smart phones and it slows down the system to snail’s pace. Almost all my business work was incomplete since the sending process timed-out and would not allow me to get back on line to finish sending files. NOT GOOD for business travelers.
