Where to begin? I stayed here for my 50th birthday with three friends. On arrival at check-in was greeted with a glass of cava. I booked 2 rooms and both were upgraded. Wow, a lovely room. Comfy beds, lovely linen, big fluffy towels, slippers, dressing gown...the bathroom was minimalist, monsoon shower. good toiletries including bath salts! The room had nespresso machine and a free mini-bar with water, coke, beer, crips and smarties! At night we had a turn down service. The sky bar and roof-top pool was great - that was the main reason I booked and I was not disappointed. The staff were amazing. Jaime, one of the managers was exceptional. I gave some feedback about an issue which he said was appreciated. He came to see me personally (it was a small niggle - and I hope he didn't go away thinking I was a complete moaner!). The front staff were very helpful. This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Nothing was too much trouble. I'd love to return. It is fabulous! Go stay!

Visited in December 2018. Staff were extremely professional and friendly. Breakfast spread each morning was sumptuous. Room views were fantastic, with the telecommunications needle and art museum of Catalonia in sight. There were also heaters installed in the toilets to keep warm after showering. Location was right next to the paral-el station exit, with supermarkets nearby and relatively close location to la Rambla district and beaches at Barceloneta Only gripe would be the pillows and beds were too soft.

1898 is everything you'll dream of !! The location can not be more central ... The Spa is brilliant with the most beautiful romantic heated pool . The service is outstanding !!! start from the little things like small water bottle for you in the spa and the lightning in the room which you can choose to fit your mood . The shower -wow ! designed for the perfect shower . They thought of every detail to make your stay magnificent . The Terrace & roof top bar is a place you would dream on coming back to . The view there is breathtaking ! And Victor and the rest of the staff are more then just nice . They are super professional and they wants to make your stay the best practically and not as a slogan . One of the best hotel i ever stayed in and far better then many 5 stars hotel i stayed in . Thank you !

[Staffs] Extremely warm, polite and helpful. Tried to sooth and help us as best as they could after we got robbed in Barca. Promptly offered to help us with our room change/upgrade when there were some small issues that we didn't mind in the room. Offered wake-up calls etc. Extremely nice bunch of people (: [Room] Extremely clean and spacious. Had everything you'd need. The toiletries were of good quality. Sheets were clean. Towels were clean. Pillows and mattress were soft yet firm enough. Lighting of room was warm. [Breakfast] Probably one of the most worth-it hotel buffet breakfasts I've had in a long while. There was prosciutto, a good spread of fresh pastries/bread, a variety of eggs cooked in various ways -- if you don't see it, you could still request for it! OD Barca served one of the best ham&cheese toasties I've had! But.... they don't serve the same things everyday. Quality varies from day to day -- probably depends on who's cooking in the kitchen!

location location location!! absolutely perfect! it is an amazing 4 star hotel that should be considerred 5 stars, best location in barcelona, practicaly 2 seconds from la ramblas street (which i fell in love with) and across the street from the aerobus service (airport bus)so it really has a great location,the receptionist was soooooooo nice to us! hr name was suzana and gave us a beautiful room with a view as soon as she found out that we are honeymooners and was so plesant and took some of her time to chat with us when we were checking out the next day,the room was very clean and modern with amazing new decor idea's, couldnt have stayed at a better hotel, if you can afford it, dont think twice, this hotel is unbeatable and i;d love to go back to barcelona just to stay at this amazing hotel

We were staying in this hotel at the beginning of our trip to Catalonia in August-September 2013. We wanted to spend a couple of days in Barcelona, just to enjoy this city again; and this hotel matched well to our targets: in 1 minute walk to the square of Catalunia with easy access to public transport and to the airport shuttles, starting their service from the square. The room was perfect: clean, everything was in a very good condition. The hotel staff is friendly and responsive. Room service was fast. We would stay here again for our next trip to Barcelona.

Nice and clean central 3 star hotel. In the reception there is a Welcome water and Apple which is nice. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from rocafort metro station. I stayed only 1 night. The room is spacious with a minibar fridge, free bottle of water and tea coffee. Toiletries (no tissue box) in the bathroom and extra body wash on the wall in the shower. I would stay here again but the only thing that was the free internet was quite slow, you can upgrade to the faster version. I think in 2018 all internet should be free and fast.

Mark was great! Great emailer before check in and great check in and check out host. Great location mostly because it's on same block of a metro stop. It's a little far from the marina and Las Ramblas but it's an enjoyable walk through the city. If you're going to the beach, walk up the hill and take the scenic cable car ($11 +/- one way) to Sant Sebastia Beach. Be very careful for purse snatchers walking up the hill to the cable car - they tried but didn't succeed. We enjoyed the street facing room but definitely not soundproof rooms as advertised. Free wifi but very very weak on our third floor room, only available in apartment foyer and maybe in living room if the front door was open and never strong enough signal to get it in the bedrooms but the "Pan" sandwich restaurant next door had great wifi service at their tables (and good food). I think because this is an apartment and not a hotel that only one hand and shower towel per bed is provided but no soap but there's a grocery store just across the street. The items in this review aren't negative (except wifi), they are noted for your heads up information because we would stay here again. Charmsuites, if you read this, because all you beds are twins (even in the master suite) you should purchase and make available the item that straps two twin beds together to make a king sized bed for the couples used to sleeping on the same bed. Me and my Wife stayed at the Pulitzer Hotel as part of out Honeymoon tour of Europe July 2013. The Pulitzer is a cool quirky and luxury Boutique Hotel right next to Plaza De Catalunya, just off the Rambla! The place is good, you walk in to a cool looking bar and reception and there is always good music playing. The room was big and really comfortable, big bathroom and good toiletries. We had a balcony room overlooking the road which was a nice touch. The breakfast was really nice, just enough and quality foods. The price is great and location good, I recommend here over the big names, as it's located better and with the cool art and bars including a rooftop bar - it's more of a Barcelona City Living experience. Barcelona is the best shopping in Europe with lovely weather, food and shopping! Did I mention the shopping!?! Remember to give any taxi drivers the full address as the hotel is not on the Ramlas itself...

I really wonder when was the time when Europe theme sounded stylish and sexy - today the once modern style of this hotel looks really outdated. Apart from that almost everything is good - the location is about 20 minutes by bus 46 to the airport, almost the same to the city center. The hotel is clean, very easy to find, staff is friendly, rooms are spacious and well air conditioned, beds are comfortable, bathroom is good, wifi is not great, but does the job... It may not be as stylish as a 4-star would suggest, but considering the favorable price, it's quite OK, especially for a short trip or a long layover.

There is no free wifi in the rooms, only in certain common locations. The room was quite comfortable and the location of the hotel, in an area not close to main tourist attractions may seem inconvenient but with a metro stop close by, if you are a tourist and have time to spare, makes every part of the city, from the beach to the outskirts, accessible. Some amount of walking is necessary so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The area around the hotel resemble rolling hills so you can enjoy a good workout for your legs if you decide to stroll. The location is in Catalonia but Spanish is understood readily enough. This area has a very strong flavor of old world charm and the hotel is an easy access point to the delights to be found in the Catalonian culture.

Very modernly designed, large room and bathroom, clean and nice but very limited eating options. The bar area is the best place of the limited options and take note of special listed in the elevator. It was the BEST option. Soft drinks are expensive so if you can buy some in a city before you come that's the best. Ice is available on every floor and so is an empty mini-fridge that is mysteriously referred to as a minibar. There is a pool and an outdoor area for walking. There is NOT a business center which is odd since this entire hotel seems set up for business travelers. Also, during the night the AC system seems to allow the temperature to climb (as do many of the hotels throughout the country). The beds are hard but the pillows are soft as is the comforter which we loved. The hotel offers a courtesy transfer to the airport which runs every 15 minutes until 9 am and then switches to every 30 minutes after that time. Go early and give yourself enough time to get through the airport (BCN) especially if you have to refund the VAT. The line is long and so are all of the other lines for airline check in and security. They also offer a shuttle, 6 Euros each way per person, to Las Rambles but if you have additional persons in your party the cab ride would probably be best. From BCN's train station to the hotel it's 20 Euros cab fare. This hotel also offered an iron! Other hotels we stayed at did not. Bottom line: We would stay here again.

This hotel is the BEST at communicating with their guests even before they arrive! The staff has a heart and are very thoughtful. I didn’t even stay there and I was so impressed. THAT is what you call service. I will tell everyone. 2 days before I checked in to the hotel I r’cd a call that my mum had passed. I emailed the hotel who advised that b/c I booked with Agoda I had to cancel thru them. The hotel constantly wrote me emails of comfort and even reached to Agoda on my behalf to assist me with a refund. Agoda you were not nice. It was an extenuating circumstance despite the type of booking. I can produce the death certificate and was hoping for a full refund. The Olivia Balmes hotel will get my booking directly when next I visit Spain. Sadly, Agoda you and your team will not get any good reviews from me. Your service to me was not considerate during my time of unexpected grief. The hotel Olivia gets 5 stars and more. Regrettably Agoda gets no stars.

Hotel was well located and the worth the cost. Check-in: I wish I had been told the location of the sensor for activating the lights. Imagine entering a dark room for the first time and fumbling around. I had to go back down to the reception to be cheekily told "welcome to Europe, we save energy". Sure that is great! But guys let me know where the sensor is located - 'behind the door'....actually was on the wall on the left side - used my dying cellphone's light to see it. Like is the custom, for any hotel, the wifi password is written on the check-in paperwork or entry key cover. Guess the reception guy 'forgot'. When asked for the hotel phone book (generally kept by the phone), was told they did not have one and I should just dial 9 to get any information. Next day found that there was a hotel phone book, but it was on the dressing table under some books/catalogs. Reception guys was probably having a bad day( Stay: Was great. Like I said location was super. Check-out: Efficient

the hotel located on a street next to La Rambla and walking distance to Plaza Catalunya, which means the location is the best for traveller. It is walking distance from Aerobus bus stop hence make the travelling journey to airport is easy and quick. With the price that they charged, it is value for money in this location. However, the downside is the hotel charge euro 1.50 per night for the usage of the safety bos in the room, requires a deposit to put in place if we required the TV remote control- 1st time in my life to hear a hotel requires a deposit for a TV remote control. There is no free WIFI facilities in the room and they charge internet based on minute that u access to the internet. I thought WIFI is a basic facilities that a hotel has to offered? at least in the hotel lobby area.

Gran ducat offers the right service and ample room size. Definitely value for money since it is centrally located and all the best shopping and dining areas are well within a 10 min walk from the hotel. They have friendly staff who can suggest all the must see locations in Barcelona as well as the best routes to take to get there. This hotel is a stop and go type of hotel - I wont recommend it for couples on a honeymoon. But overall I am happy with the hotel and will recommend it to all my friends.

Modern room with handy location. Staff was good and polite and will try their best to accommodate your request. Stayed there for 3 nights pre cruise and 1 night post cruise. They allow me to check in early as I was having sea sick due to rough sea. Good location near Liceu Station and also close to cruise port. With a little upgrade they can easily change from a hostal to 3star hotel.

This is my second stay here and will be my choice of where to stay in Barcelona. The location is reasonably close to the airport. The shuttle service is a bonus which will save you 20 euros in taxi fares each way. Its not in the city centre but for 2.20 euros by bus which is on the doorstop, its a great alternative, you'd be paying that for using the metro. Now about the hotel... the staff are amazing, they couldn't do enough for us. Danny our receptionist should get paid more for what he does. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast sensational. It is a little bit of tranquility in a busy city. I have stayed at lots of 5 star hotels around the world but this hotel is right up there as a favourite.

I stayed at Casa Gracia on March 2015 with my parents. I was so excited because it was the first time in Barcelona for me, and also for my parents, it was the first time in Europe. When we got the hostel right from the airport from Korea, we were exhausted, but since we saw the room, it was really nice and we could be relaxed. Room was very nice, the bathroom was big with wonderful bathtub. We were satisfying with the room, location, and kind staff. It took only a couple of minutes from the subway station - very easy to find. Also the best part of staying at Casa Gracia was on my mom's birthday. I asked a nice restaurant for my mom's birthday to a staff, and I found the Hotel has every evening special dinner time with different program.( Such as live music show, Tapas night and so on.)It was Live music night on my mom's birthday, so I made a reservation for dinner. All staff celebrated my mom's birthday, and baked amazing cake for her. Also wonder champagne with lovely live birthday music just for her. My mom was tired at that time because of jet-lag, but still now she sometimes mentions about her special birthday at Casa Gracia and says it was really fantastic. Also personally myself, the welcome post card on the table was soooooo adorable. If I visit Barcelona one more time, I would like to stay at Casa Gracia again. Thank you for all the staff that I could have wonderful memories in Barcelona.

Stayed here for five nights and left a very happy couple. Rooms were beautifully spacious and clean. The bed we had was enormous. Air conditioning in the room was extremely fast working. My only gripe with the room, and it was by no means a big deal but, the hair dryer was very small and you had to hold the button down for it to work. For someone with waist length hair it took a very long time to dry my hair and I got hand cramp on several occasions haha. The hotel itself was gorgeous. Lovely breakfast area and food. Relatively good variety and complimentary Cava which went down a treat on my birthday! Pool area is the pièce de résistance though. Lots of sun loungers, lovely views of the mountains and cable cars. Pool bar is lovely with good food and long opening hours. Staff were so polite and helpful. One lady even rang and booked a table in a restaurant for us. The hotel was situated perfectly for us. A 5 minute walk to Plaça de Catalunya. Equally close to the top of La Ramblas. Even closer to Universitat metro station. There is a small convenience store and pharmacy round the corner and lovely restaurants and bars within 15 minute radius. All in all, we loved this hotel and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Our stay at Pol & Grace was amazing. This was one of our best hotel stays in Europe. For a start, the hotel is just less than a minute walk from the train station. Going to town or many major attractions from this hotel is extremely convenient given that there are 2 metro lines at the station. The design of the room was very unique. It isn't like any other hotel. I love the little snippets of messages for us. The room itself was pretty decently sized, which meant it's good value for the price. There is even a small sofa in there for you to sit and relax if you don't want to mess up your bed. WIFI was great as well and the system makes it easy to connect without having to login all the time. I like that they provide free tea and coffee at the lobby, it's a nice touch and the lobby itself is a very cosy and comfortable area. The receptionists were great and polite. They helped us print out some match and plane tickets without much hassle and communicated well with tips of Barcelona attraction. All in all, it's a great hotel and we will be back if we visit Barcelona again.

This hotel is my favorite. I like the design, the staff is very good, the bed is the best i know so far. We book this hotel every year, because we like barcelona and especialy we love this hotel so much. The location, the rooms, the staff, the food, the room service, the breakfast, the coffee, everything we love in this hotel. The Hotel is not cheap, but compared to other famous cities it is very cheap, and it´s an 5 Star hotel. the Breakfast could be cheaper, but we love it, and the selction is great and premium quality (you get also excellent ham or hearty dishes, etc.) The best of this hotel is the excellent bed. We think about to buy such a bed because it´s so fantastic. You will also love the excellent amenities in the bathroom, SPLISS-SPA products from Canada.

Usually, when I'm booking hotels and look at the pictures they have posted, I don't expect it to be as lovely as those pictures when I get there in person except for this hotel. Astoria Hotel blew my expectations. The room was perfect; the hotel staff was excellent and kind. It is in a great location close to Diagonal and Rambla de Catalunya; very close to metro stations, restaurants, shopping, and bars. The rooftop was very nice and clean with a great view of part of the city. The room was very ample and cozy; the bathroom was excellent and beautiful. The wifi was excellent, and they let you leave your luggage in the front desk if your check out is way before your departure. Overall, my stay here was very relaxing and convenient, but best of all very affordable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and stay here again when I go back to Barna.

Travel with group of 5 with a late arrival. Docs provided did not include instructions for addl entry pad on outside of building. Tried entering reservation details, but could not locate, there was a number to dial and was quickly answered and they buzzed me in as I was not in that system. Instructions need to be updated even the check-in listed in the instructions was out of date, there is no printing of keys you retrieve the keys from a locker Pros: Modern building, quick response to any needs, safe area, nearby convenience store open til midnight Cons: Water heater runs all night, was kinda loud, but if shut the door to kitchen sound was minimized, kitchen could use updating, internet is extremely slow if you use the provided wi-fi ; for HIGH SPEED you had to pay an additional cost per person or device; 3 bedroom apt and rooms are not as extravagant as when you first enter the apartment, master bedroom would be the best of the 3; residential area, not much to do at night

The location is perfect...fronts to a small park, about 50 yards away to bay boulevard, ten minute easy walk to MAREMAGNUM / Bay Mall, 3 minute walk to Las Ramblas' restaurants and bars, and yet quiet and peaceful. The staff (Oscar) was helpful and accommodating . The room is quaint but very comfortable and has two small balconies. The shower room is quite nice with perfect water pressure. I stayed here only for a day / night but I wish I'd stayed longer....no rooms available for the dates I needed. I could have rated value for the money with 5 stars had I booked much earlier than I did...for a cheaper price.
