East of England hotels & accommodations

All the staff was extremely friendly, warm and efficient. My check in and check out was super duper fast. Best ever encountered in my entire life. The facility was superb and location was perfect. I love IBIS Cambridge and eventhough it’s simple with basic facilities, it’s the best experience I had compared to other more renowned hotels. Kudos to the IBIS Cambridge sta...

The Hilton is the perfect Hotel for a break in Cambridge. It's location is central to everything. We were greeted with a warm welcome and asked what was the reason for our visit. When we told the receptionist it was our Wedding anniversary she upgraded us and sent a lovely bottle of red Wine up to our room. Our room was immaculate and spacious. The Hilton's prime locat...

I traveled with a group of 2, and resided in a Family Room. We had made a prior request for early check-in (because of our flight arrival in the morning) as well as a request for a room on the lower floor. We were aware that the requests could not be guaranteed. However, very much to our surprise, the Staff at Arundel accommodated our requests and allowed us to check...

I did initially have difficulty finding the hotel. I came over from France and rely on my satnav to get me to my destinations. Due to an incorrect postcode it didn't show up on the list of possible hotels but once I had found it, it was easy to drive back to. A605/A1m junction. In comparison with hotels of the same level and value it stood out as a good choice and I wi...

When my husband and I arrived here, they told us that they had no booking from us and that the hotel was full... My husband rang the company Agoda and told them what was going on, after speaking to the company, the hotel got a phone call, then 5 minutes later they said to us that the booking was 'right under their nose' and they didn't see it before.... We'd booked a s...

I was a lone traveller, although I met a friend staying at the hotel. I was given a warm welcome on my arrival and although I arrived early hoping to leave my luggage I was told that if I waited just a half an hour my room would be ready. My friend and I had coffee and as promised within the stated time I was able to check in. This helped a great deal with my arrangeme...

Whilst I agree that the hotel has a lovely outlook, is clean with friendly staff and has very good facilities, our whole experience was marred by, after booking with Agodo, for a very good rate, we were given a tiny room almost attic like.at the furthest part of the hotel. There was only room for a double bed in the room, the window was tiny and had a broken blind and ...

We have had a fair amount of experience on what to expect from Hotels and I thought the price was quite high for the location when I booked, but then again there really are not that many 4 Star UK hotels that have Gym, Pool & Spas, so as I had settled for Cambridge for this two days of activities, Quy Mill Hotel also had good reviews, so I booked (pay at hotel with Ag...

* The big shock when you arrive at the Ashley Hotel is that THERE IS NO RECEPTION - you have to walk 10 minutes to the Arundel Hotel to check in! Then if you have a problem (eg a room key doesn't work), someone has to travel from the Arundel to help you. I eventually found this information in the 'small print' section of the booking information. Surely this essential i...

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. It is easy to get to and we nabbed one of the few parking spaces immediately - it would be hard to get a local parking spot otherwise . The location is excellent for a visit to almost anywhere in Cambridge. We hired bikes from the cycle shop next door £10 per day after a small degree of haggling. The small niggles are Our room...

I loved the whole stay. I had a marvelous superior room with a rain shower and a Victorian bath in the bedroom with lovely products supplied. The library room is decorated and themed so well providing an academic atmosphere so suited to the proximity of the Cambridge colleges. Stayed for New Year's Eve together with a friend and the food was superb. Had tender Veni...

I came to stay with a friend. Our room was beautiful, with a balcony overlooking the gardens. We paid extra for this but it was worth it. The spa, classes and treatment were fine - busy in the day, but we used the spa facilities in the evening, when it was quiet and blissful. We booked the secret retreat, it wasn't as special as I would have liked. The food at the...

While this place was clean and central, I had a very mixed experience with the staff. Some of the members (Alberto, the male barista, the cleaning staff) were kind and lovely, but some of the other members were sort of cold and corporate. After checking in in the evening, I requested a bed in a different room because the lockers (fewer than there were beds, for the rec...

Was extremely impressed with the Staff courtesy who were efficient, helpful and friendly during whole 2 weeks my wife and i were staying there. Without a car though you are basically reliant on Taxis as a long way to the town. It seems that most people staying there though had cars and we would recommend this hotel on the basis of the good service we received

Our room was on the ground floor. As soon as we opened the fire door to go down the corridor it smelled like a damp basement. Unfortunately this smell was also in our room. The room was unbearably hot, we turned off the heater and opened the window, but as it was a fairly mild evening there was no relief of cold draught into the room. We had to shut the window to go to...

Nice to see Jolly 'ol England still intact in this neck of the woods. Very much a lovely country home: very well maintained, not at all stuffy, and lovely staff. Nice to have paths away from traffic to walk to Coton and Cambridge. Convenient to public transit too. Very much enjoyed our stay.

We booked this hotel as myself partner and little boy were visiting friends.. the outside of the hotel doesnt look very special and quite budget hotel but inside looks like a bespoke 5☆ hotel, really impressed with the quality of service and facilities for a budget/mid priced hotel.. there was a wedding on but our room has in a quiet zone and we didnt hear any noise......

We stayed there for just one night and had requested a quiet, airy, non-smoking room with lots of natural light. The room we were given on the first floor of the original building ticked boxes 2,3 and 4, but the noise from a bouncy castle generator was very intrusive. At about 2pm very loud music started up from a speaker on the terrace about 4 yeards from our room. Ti...

Stayed here only 1 night. Room was excellent - huge in fact with a two seater sofa. Great to not have to sit on the bed to relax at the end of a day to watch to to unwind. Onsite parking if bays available for £7 per 24 hours. Full English and continental breakfast available for £10 per person. Toilet is separate from the bathroom which has good deep bath and in bath sh...

Our venue didn’t have accommodation so we are thrilled we got an e executive double room at a reduced price, staff were very friendly and hotel is just beautiful. Lovely large room was very clean, comfortable bed and they had put rose petals on the bed to welcome us to our room which was a lovely touch to make it more than just s normal room. Breakfast was delicious...

We have stayed here on a number of occasions and have never beed disappointed. The staff are brilliant. The cleanliness of the rooms is faultless and amenities offered very good. If one is looking for the ultra modern then this is not for you, however a quiet country break on the river Stour in an old market town offering character, service and hospitality is what...

Comfy beds, clean room, multiple jacuzzis and pools to choose from, relaxation rooms and a laconium which i’d never been in before and we’ll worth a try. Dinner options were varied and breakfast was a good European affair. Bela the waiter stood out as being a fantastic member of staff within the dining team and the hotel as a whole, he was polite and attentive and sto...

This is quite a nice hotel with comfortable modern furnishings but is a considerable distance from the centre of Cambridge and there is very little in the immediate area around the hotel of interest. Breakfast was included but only basic and we had to wait at least 15 minutes before anyone gave us our coffee which was the only thing we had brought to the table as every...
Cheap places to stay in East of England

While this place was clean and central, I had a very mixed experience with the staff. Some of the members (Alberto, the male barista, the cleaning staff) were kind and lovely, but some of the other members were sort of cold and corporate. After checking in in the evening, I requested a bed in a different room because the lockers (fewer than there were beds, for the rec...

Location beautiful. Lot of confusion re booking, not just with myself. I had to change rooms after first night as wasn’t booked in, waited ages for it to be resolved - I was tired as been travelling for eight hours!! Second night I wasn’t given key until 2.30pm. When I arrived at new room the lower bunk hadn’t been changed! One night very late, a man walked into...

We needed a stop over address to visit Cambridge with our dog. The Travelodge Hotel is just what we were looking for! Clean, affordable room, helpful staff, parking under the hotel for a fee of £6 a day and within 25 minutes walking distance from the town centre (or take the bus which practically stops in front of the hotel). We didn’t use the catering facilities but b...

We stayed for weekend with our friends and appreciated comfortable rooms and nice hosts. Rooms are nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Toiletries and towels are provided. Guesthouse is located very close to the beach and to the amusement parks. Breakfast was good with lot of options including yogurts, fresh berries and cereals. The only downside was a bit uncomforta...

The room had a musty smell. There was black mold on the window sill and the wood was semi rotted on the sill with large chunks of paint missing. There is no where to get a decent breakfast till after 9pm, then you can walk to Buddy's or Rushden Lakes. Try not to trip on the carpets in the hallway, there are all loose and coming up. You get your bed made for you every c...

The place overall is ok. Needed to pay an extra for family room on day which I have booked through Agoda and stated that 1 adults and 2 children and got twin room instead family. Put me off at the beginning after travelling 8h from London by coach with children. First night needed to call reception at 2am to complain about noise next door. And it didn't stop there were...

I had mistakenly gone to the Colchester Travelodge and the young man on reception there told me how to get to the Chelmsford hotel, phoned them to let them know I was on my way and asked that they let him know I'd arrived safely; a pleasant touch. Not easy to find the car park entrance at Chelmsford and a bit of a shock to have to pay so much extra to park when I did...

We were just looking for a good location close to Cambridge for an overnight in transit stay, having booked from Australia and not knowing the location or area it was a stab in the dark. But it turned out to be perfect, close enough to Cambridge to spend the day sightseeing and then return for a comfortable nights sleep, great shower. Next morning we had choices galore...

Great accommodation, well priced. The only let down is the food, and the bar staff at night during dinner service. The food took over 45 minutes to come- it was a baked potato. The salad was rotting. The bar man could not understand that I wanted to order a bitters, lime and soda to drink, and was clearly annoyed when I tried to explain what it was to him, (soda water,...

We were met with a very warm welcome. What struck me about the Globe was the exceptional staff at reception. First impressions last ! The hotel manager Karen went out of her way to solve an unexpected problem and I really appreciated that. The room was spotless comfortable may be a little small but perfect for a short stay. Food was of a very high standard. The staff...

Ideal location for us visitng my husband's Mother. Room very clean and complimentary breakfast enough for us. TLC needed in the bathroom (re-grouting and bath /shower fittings). On completing our booking on line with Agoda we opted for time of arrival "not sure " option. Travelled 5 hours and very disappointed to have to pay £10 for early arrival...even though th...

good signposting from the main road to this tucked-away 16th century, sensitively restored, house. very friendly reception and an upgrading to the best room was much appreciated. good advice about eating places in the area and an excellent breakfast. good location for scandiavian visitors planning to catch the ferry from harwich - esbjerg, the following day. the late a...

Stayed here in separate rooms with my son. Hotel is of a good standard although the public areas are a bit tired. Rooms have recently been re-furbished, bed comfy and pillows lovely. 15 minute walk to Cathedral square. Car park is locked overnight. Receptionist / Barman John was excellent. Would use this hotel again.

we in joyed the stay has it was a lot better than before when l stayed the rooms where spot on with cleaness has there now have there own toilet and shower along with a phone and my partner in joyed the kettle and drinks that were on show which were in the room.but want there before. the staff were friendly and helpful only down pour we had was the weather has it rain ...
4-star hotels in East of England

The Hilton is the perfect Hotel for a break in Cambridge. It's location is central to everything. We were greeted with a warm welcome and asked what was the reason for our visit. When we told the receptionist it was our Wedding anniversary she upgraded us and sent a lovely bottle of red Wine up to our room. Our room was immaculate and spacious. The Hilton's prime locat...

As a couple we stayed in a studio apartment in Mid January 2018. I managed to book the room for 2 nights at £17 a night (meant to be £100 this time of year). We didn’t realise this was more than likely due to the pool being closed, which we weren’t aware of until check in. It wasn’t a deal breaker as at that price you can’t complain. Location is great, staff friendl...

We really enjoyed our stay at Worth House and a lot of it was due to our exceptionally friendly hosts, Maria and Guido. This is a very small intimate B&B, which is well situated for visiting downtown Cambridge. We walked to/from all our sites, but buses and taxis were available close by. A few restaurants were a 5 minute walk away, as well. The beds/pillows were th...

We enjoyed our stay at the Marriot as we have stayed there before, we did not use the restaraunt as we were there for a family party, however we did use the indoor pool and gym, these were both exelent. The hotel was very busy and the reception took a bit of time to check in.

I was very impressed with the level of service in this hotel. ALL the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, no matter who you talked to or what the problem was. I even saw management out and around the hotel talking to guests and asking if they needed anything or how their stay was. I was told it was the only full service hotel in Cambridge, and they have 2 pools!...

I stayed for four nights whilst taking my son to the University of Essex and it provided me with a base with which to offer support for a few days before I left him to his designs. I enjoyed my stay and the staff were ever so prepared to assist in whatever circumstance. The room was quite clean with a garden view.

the dukes head hotel was under renovation during our stay which dampened our first impressions on arrival, however this did not affect our stay.the room was comfortable and clean and modern, staff friendly and a relaxing bar on the premises. breakfast was more than satisfactory to start the day exploring surrounding areas of kings lynn. i would like to return once ren...

I have stayed at various places in and around Norwich. This is one of the better places that I have stayed. The staff are very helpful, the rooms are comfortable - it's clean, well priced and close to the centre of the town, it also has good parking. The room booked for single occupancy was larger than I had expected, had a bethroom with bath but the shower was a bi...

Building working taking place outside my window at 7 oclock in the morning. No prior warning given to me. Staff seem to disappear regularly and you seem to be waiting around a fair bit. apart from that a beautiful hotel. Clean bright fantastic food

Hotel was clean staff friendly, we chose this hotel for the hydro pool as I had an injury and my partner has a bad back so we thought it would be great. Very disappointed the hydro pool was hot but the jets did not work , I reported it only to be told its on a timer, I explained it hadn't worked for over 20 mins but nothing was done. The sauna was also out of use , the...

I stayed overnight due to being on a two day course at the hotel, the room was small but adequate for my needs, the food supplied was of a very high Standard and the staff very helpful and friendly. Location 5 mins from the M25 and also close to the Lakeside shopping centre should you need some retail therapy.

One of the best Golf Resort and Spa in the UK. Location is convenient for shopping at Bicester Village Outlet, just 5 minutes by car. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Nice environment and surroundings. Highly recommended for those who like to play golf and spa and shopping at Bicester Village Outlet.

A wonderful manor house with real character. Perhaps a bit out of the way but worth the effort in order to avoid corporate anonymous modern hotels. Just wish we could have stayed longer in order to enjoy the facilities. Would love to return and just chill out in the grounds reading a book.

I was travelling to Brittany, France from Surrey, England. The train journey from Surrey to Southend upon Sea needs to be carefully creafted to avoid spending hours in the train and London underground. But when you have reached there, the hotel is 200 m from the airport train station and 100 m from the departure area. I arrived quite late and check in was quick and ef...
Luxury hotels in East of England

The flat had all the necessary amenities, with a nice surprise of a coffee express with delicious coffe included. Wifi was very fast and our tv even had a chromecast included. The only downside was a tiny bathroom that made dressing up challenging. 9/10 would stay again.

We were made very welcome at 38 St Giles. William met us at the small gated carpark and escorted us to the B&B. Our room was on the first floor and had a very comfortable bed, good quality t.v. some nice cake and a very nice bathroom. Breakfast was delicious, homemade jams and bread complimented the generous 'full English'. However, and despite the very comfortable bed...

Good location other than at badly managed. We turned up and had to wait for 30 min as there were no keys where they were supposed to be. Had 3 hungry tired, screaming children waiting to go in. The staff were not competent at managing the situation and when asked to be called by the manager no one even called to bother. The next day we had a random lady turn up for ins...
