Totally enjoyed it. One of the best youth hostel stay. Very clean, large room with fridge and toilets. So conveniently located to the best attractions such as the famous Dogo Spa and great restaurants and boutiques all around. Very quiet. I would definitely love to come back. The staff was very nice and helpful. The major bonus was to have a parking spot as well. I give it a 10 for a Youth Hostel.

You may need a little time to locate the hostel at first; once you located it, you wouldn’t have issues locating it thereafter; it’s just a 5-minute walk from the station. The location is good to explore the onsen avenue and the nearby park, simply by walking which save your transport cost. Checkin was easy, English instructions on the facilities were located everywhere in the hostel which facilitates your stay. Very simple facilities but good enough for a night or 2.

It's the first time I attempt to book a love hotel room for sightseeing in province. We stay two nights and I was afraid to be charged extra fees like love hotel usually do when you exceed their standard time. We didn't encounter any issues and all we pay was what agoda charged us. The amenities have nothing to compare with a business hotel. Spacious room, King size bed, video projectors, video on demand ( free too) , jacuzzi, etc... And such at a night fare cheaper than any business hotel. Parking is just there and also free, location was not center of the city but close enough from everything if you travel by car. Highly recommended.

Located near the tram stop, the hotel is accessible to many of the tourist spots of Matsuyama, like Matsuyama Castle, Dogo Onsen, & Okaido Shopping Street. The room that I stayed was rather big, which was beyond my expectation for a business hotel & for the price I paid. It was certainly the highlight of it. The staff were nice, & helpful. I had inquired with them on recommendations to dine some of Matsuyama specialities & they deliver.

Amazing little guesthouse in a small town. There was a Onsen about 1km away and the guesthouse sold discounted tickets for just ¥400. Restaurants in the area only open until 7.30pm but there is also a convenience store in case you need something. The guest house had a very good vibe and I could see how the owners are very creative people. There also sell lots of different items connected to a sustainable lifestyle. Overall many hippie vibes and great detail on decoration, I absolutely loved it. It was clean, guest had their own kitchen which looks like an former bar (really cool) and the heater made sure no one was cold at night. Would surely come back and recommend to my friends.

Toilets were tiny! As a a tall man I could barely manage to sit down properly on them. I ended using a nearby convenience store instead. Also, no soap supplied, but toothpaste is? In what world do I not bring my own tooth brush but bring soap? However, if you are small, and looking for a place to stay for a conference at the Nigitatsu conference center like ALTs around Ehime do every year, you can't beat it's location.

I have stayed in many business type hotels throughout Japan. This was my favourite to date. The room was very clean, and modern. It was a good size for Japan. The staff were vert friendly and made check in and out very easy and pleasant. Finally, the location is great. You are a few minutes walk away from the Okaido shopping street which is quite popping at the weekend. In terms of accessing other major sites the walking time to Matsuyama Castle (15 mins), Dogo Onsen (25 mins) and Ishite-ji Shrine (35 mins). I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

It is just 1 minute walk from the JR station. If your plan is to take lots of trains, this hotel is the only best option. It is though far from the city center, you have to take 30 mins tram to the onsen and 15 mins to the castle. If your plan is to explore inside the city, it is better to stay in town. If your plan is to explore other nearby city by JR, this hotel is the best. Room is clean, staff is helpful, value for money anyway.

The inn is a little hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for - it's very close to the Dogo Onsen but up a back street and signed only in Japanese. Once we knew what we were looking for it was easy to spot, though. The inn is very small and calm compared to a lot of the large hotels in the area. A traditional Japanese inn, our room (we stayed as a couple) included roll-out futon beds, a gorgeous wooden stand/shelf unit, a connecting room with an ornate wooden low table and seats, a side area with wood flooring rather than tatami mats where we could leave our bags & four electrical outlets, a third small room off the end with a bench and screen windows, and a vestibule leading to the garden outside. A free breakfast was provided, once again Japanese style, which included rice, two varieties of seaweed, miso soup with tofu, and green tea. We had an amazing time at the inn, the staff who checked us in and out were friendly and extremely helpful and both spoke enough English so that we didn't have to muddle through in basic Japanese. The only issue we found with the hotel is that since the walls are thinner than modern/western buildings, we could hear the other guests carrousing in the common areas until late at night despite the hotel policy for guests to speak quietly after midnight. Between the two of us one is a light sleeper and the other is not - the noise did keep me awake. We weren't able to use the hotel's baths since we only stayed one night and spent most of our time exploring the city, but a hotel employee told us that they're the only hotel in the area that, like Dogo Onsen, does not add extra chemicals to their water, which comes from the same local hot spring that the famous Dogo Onsen draws from. We did visit Dogo Onsen twice, which was a fantastic experience and I recommend it to anyone visiting Matsuyama - as long as you read up on onsen etiquette beforehand, you'll be fine. They provide English pamphlets explaining things as well.

Very consistent, APA chain of hotels usually don't give any surprises. The room was very clean with a bunch of amenities, Yukata, slippers, toiletries etc....but also tiny, which is the norm, in Japan. If you book in advance, you can get good deals. Unfortunately my airbnb host was a female crook, so I had to leave the apartment and book with APA at the last minute. It was expensive, but they saved my life as it is very hard to find last minute accommodations, in Matsuyama. The only tiny down side is the location. It is accross from a beautiful park, but you will need to walk 15/20mn to/from Matsuyama JR station. But besides that, the staff was wonderful, very helpful and everything else was just perfect.

5 mins walking from JR station, Not much shops nearby , have a Macdonald and convenience shop (which fresh fruits available, so cool) within 10 minutes walk.. can walk around 20-30mins to downtown with many shops(bus and light rail also available) .. However, facilities and room a bit old , but acceptable, can find everything I needed in the room, just cannot reach any wifi in room... Recommend if likely to travel mainly by JR.

Close to the streetcar line to Dogo Onsen and easy walk to Matsuyama Castle. Staff were attentive and professional and went the extra mile to find out where I could do currency exchange nearby (even though not done at New Grand). Hotel breakfast was excellent and the hotel's own onsen spa was just brilliant - I would stay there again just for that. Laundry facilities a plus. Close to Post Office for ATMs.

We had trouble booking a double room here for 3 nights in a row - somehow the place was nearly booked out! But when we arrived, the staff were really helpful, swapping our booking for two single rooms to stay in the same double room multiple nights here as there had been a cancellation. They also stored our luggage for a few hours after check-out. Great location not far from the train station and near a few interesting spots. It's probably catered to business travelers but the bed was a decent size and the place was clean. TV a bit out-dated but that didn't matter much. It's a standard hotel but there is nothing wrong with it. There is also a combini just next to the lobby which is super handy. Gave facilities an average score just compared with some other hotels which had free bottled water and bathroom items like hair brushes in the room and refreshed every day. NB you can pick up bathroom things from the lobby.

My wife and I stayed in a Queen Bed room for two nights on a Shikoku self-drive tour. This hotel is new and very nice. I am a fan of the Dormy Inn's as they are usually new, modern, located centrally, have free onsen and coffee, and ramen in late evenings. Our room was the usual smallish, but everything was new and clean. The bed, aircon, wifi were very good. Staff was very helpful. Onsen was a bonus - outdoor and indoor pools. Breakfast was standard and ok. It is located inside the pedestrian-only shopping street, and super convenient. Walking to the Castle ropeway took less than 10 minutes, and the tram stop to Dogo 3 minutes. But since the hotel is located in the pedestrian-only shopping street, you cannot reach the front door by car. We later found out that there is a door at the back where you can park for couple of minutes to drop off your luggage. Also, the hotel is so new that it is not registered on GPS, and the hotel associated carpark (not onsite) is not easy to find.

We booked twin room and was ushered to its annex building few meters away. The twin room is real small and has a musty smell. The annex needs rejuvenation for sure. Definitely not pleasant. We decided to enquire about it’s main building as it looks new. We were told twin room only available in annex and if we want to stay in main building, we can only have double and pay the difference. Paid the difference we did and definitely well worth it! The double room is new and brightly lit. We also have the onsen to ourselves for two nights.

It's an old hotel,but the sheets and towels are clean there's soap /shampoo/toothbrush etc in the bathroom and everything worked.i used this as a base to walk up Ishizuchisan so was leaving the hotel at 6am each morning and thought breakfast wouldn't be available but the owner insisted I would have time and served it to me at 5:30 am on the second morning I was running a couple of minutes late just as I was leaving my room he rang me to see where I was.I think someone complained about the noise from the trains but I had no problems.The owner was very helpful and does his best for you.For the price I thought this was an great place to stay. No wi fi...not the end of the world.

Although my room was not very large and the decor was just the standard beige decor of a Japanese business hotel, I would still recommend warmly for several reasons. The buffet breakfast included in the cost of the room is very generous, has a wide choice of Japanese and western options and is served until 10 am. Several major tourist attractions are a 15 to 20 minute walk away from the hotel (Matsuyama Castle, historic Dogo Onsen,...). The hotel has some free bikes available to guests. Best of all is the mini hot springs factilities within the hotel which you can use in the morning and from 4 pm. They include a sauna and a massage chari. The hotel staff was discreet, but helpful. Just make sure you are given on a non-smoker floor is you don't like the smell of cold tobacco.
