Where to stay in Free State
Free State hotels & accommodations

Thank you kindly for a very warm reception by Hotel Staff. My Wife and I stayed overnight on our way to Johannesburg. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal and breakfast the following morning. We sat outside in the garden by the pool in the evening and enjoyed the tranquility. We will be back. Best regards, Ian and Victoria Posselt.

After having read a few of the previous guests reviews on your web page we were initially a little apprehensive about what we may find, fortunately we were very impressed, the staff were very friendly and always helpful when questioned about anything. The room was very comfortable, the only thing we would change was that we had booked a large South facing room, the vie...

Great location. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. Clean and mordenised rooms. Very comfortable and wide enough bed. Secure parking. Close to a shopping mall and banks. Mediclinic also just across the road. I do wish the rooms can be fitted with a bar fridge. Overall, the place is great. I will definately consider booking there in the future.

We stayed in a fantastic room, recently renovated, spotless, smart and with a wonderful shower. Some friends stayed at the chalets which are not renovated but are still in very good condition, with a beautiful view and include kitchen, varanda and braai area. The lodge is perfect for families with children, there are plenty options for their entretainment and a very...

We had an amazing stay, the entire cottage is amazing!!! Beautiful green garden, the place is big... super big, rooms are beautiful and cozy, the staff are very friendly and helpful, they go an extra mile to make sure you are happy. They have all facilities and a fridge in the room in case you are staying a few days which was our case. I do have one recommendation... ...

The stay was pleasant. The decor and details I would say are not quite in line with the 4 stars this hotel was awarded. I have stayed in 4 star hotels with better decor, design and service. I would say it is more like a 3 star hotel. The location is fantastic and the breakfast great.

During my booking failed to mention my wife is unable to climb stairs. The rooms are on top of the hotel and there's no lift. The receptionist, on her own accord, took swift action and gave as another room - bungalow actually next to the hotel. We highly appreciated this action and even though we only stayed for one night the effort was made. Kudos to the staff and hot...

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the Hostess with the mostess with coffee and cake whilst another couple was taken to their room and we signed in. The room is minimalistic and tasteful with everything you could possibly need whilst the surrounding garden is all indigenous, beautiful and tranquil. I will be using them when passing through Bloem from now on...

we stayed three nights here and it is a lovely place. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice bathroom, good standard fixtures, enough tea/coffee. Walking distance to town centre, although not much there if museums aren't your thing. Turn left and bottom of the street you will find several nice bars and excellent italian restaurant, also useful shop for basics. Only criticis...

It was OK. The room was clean but the beds are not comfortable as both my wife and I struggled throughout the night with back ache!! The food for dinner was very mediocre at R 105 each for warmed up curry and rice, re-warmed up rice - very poor. The fact that the website booking stated last room, book now is VERY MISLEADING as we were the only guests so that was non...

Bloemfontein was a stopping point on our way back to Pretoria from Port Alfred. It was very easy to find the place with Google maps. We were greeted by the friendly Lynette. We had requested for late check in and she stayed late to accommodate us. The house is situated inside what seems to be a communal complex. The design was very modern with a high class feel. It loo...
Cheap places to stay in Free State

Run by a lovely man who gave us some great information. Right in the centre of town as well. However the rooms were very old fashioned and need an update as it felt like staying at your grandparent's house. No stand alone shower was frustrating

This self-catering accommodation is the epitome of value for money. It felt like we were staying in a hotel, at a fraction of the cost. We knew what to expect, and were not disappointed. The convenience of the location is a huge selling point, we could walk from our unit to the main town square in a few minutes. Had there not been a selection of restaurants close by, t...

DSTV was not working in our room. When complained about it to the owner, we were told if we did not like it, we could leave but we had already paid in full. After an argument, we were then only offered another room the next day, which was smaller and basically meaningless to us. Will not go back there again!

I stay in very good hotels around the world and some are extremely sophisticated and elegant with a lot of isolation from being in touch with surroundings. Monte Bello's bushveldt/farmlike sights and sounds, are what I enjoyed the most. However, it is an acquired taste some people may not enjoy. They are missing out. The TV service could enjoy some improvement with cha...

My husband booked this spot for our overnight road trip driving back to JHB from CPT, and oh my .. what an incredible place. It was peaceful and quiet and the owners were just amazing. Even cooked us dinner as we checked in later than expected and didn't have time to stop for dinner. It was such a beautiful place and their dog Jackie, made us feel like we were right at...

I stayed one night here while traveling from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg. The room is well-equipped but needs refurbishing - the shower door has to be lifted up to close. They also need to upgrade security in that the vehicle entrance is open to the public & there are no security gates on the entrance door or windows.

it was perfect....I was sick when we arrived and I needed a few days to get better...We had traveled over 40 hours and I needed a quiet spot....it was safe and very quiet and very clean...the breakfast was perfect and served beautifully..would definitely stay again...

Very nice guest house. Very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Wi-Fi in room. Quiet location. Would definitely stay here again. Only issue was the room size, which would not make the room we had suitable for a longer stay. We had a family room with a double bed and a single bed, The room was just big enough for the beds, pedestals and a small dressing table and no...

It is a nice hotel, where everything works fine. Rooms are a bit small though. Pool is even tinier! However it is nice sipping a drink and watch the animals from the zoo as the hotel sits right at the fringe of zoo. It is close to a shopping mall, and to a fabulous restaurant New York, with some of the best food and service to be found in all of South Africa

undoubtedly the best guest house in Clarens. Only improvements suggested are that (1) They need to put up highly visible road signs (e.g. at least 5kms and then 1km before Andes, and then 100 metres just before the turn (from both sides of town) - as we got lost and turned back from town (+- 5kms away)and (2) prepare food for guests on their request, as Andes is a b...

Luxury hotels in Free State

The unit is very spacious and neat, well furnished. Accommodation and location excellent, the unit is however not suited for self catering as required. Ithas no microwave, cutlery and plates. It also has no braai facility. This is ideal for someone who would rather eat out and not prepare their own food, it is suggested that this be indicated as a non- self catering un...
