Where to stay in Gangwon Province
Gangwon Province hotels & accommodations

We had seen this hotel and initially planned just to visit it during our stay but thankfully we decided to splash out and book a room here and we were so glad we did. You only need one night here to fully appreciate it and it is so much fun. There are lovely gardens to walk around, a revolving coffee car at the top and the ship plays a chime every morning 20 minutes ...

The service that the hotel provided was more than awesome! We missed our lunch and the hotel allowed to have coffee after the breakfast time was over. This kindness and service deserve the best mark. I will definitely stay with this listening every time I'm in Sokcho and I will definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends. Thank you for having us and making our tr...

Pros: - The location is very nice. Not too far of a taxi ride from the station and close to the beach. - The room is still new and very clean. - The bed is nice and big. Cons: - The fridge wasn't that cold. - Asked the front desk for ice at 11pm and they said it was not available after 10pm and suggested buying it at a convenience store. (They did call the store...

I’ve been to Ramada and it was great but Lotte is at another level. This place has the best hospitality to include free drinks (water, coke, sprite, water bottle, etc...) and Molton brown products. Tooth brush and everything else in the room are all free. The slippers are disposable, not those cheap reusable leather slippers. The towels are American size large s...

I am very impressed witg Phoenix Park Ski resort. The hotel provides us all necessary kitchenware to prepare meals. Also, Customers has a variety of restaurant choices including Korean restaurant, KFC, Domino Pizza, and cofe benene. Plus, There is a supermarket in the resort area. The ondul condo is very clean and warm, you have to bring your own bathroom amenity suc...

Manager was friendly with good English, and breakfast buffet had a decent selection. The kids loved the 1 minute walk to the beach, and all the bathrooms had been nicely renovated. Unfortunately, the kitchen and rest of the rooms and hotel were in desperate need of some TLC, and there was no tea/coffee at buffet as there was a cafe in the lobby. Overall, good for the p...

My family and I vacationed here during our summer vacation. It was "Golden Week" in Korea so we ended up paying double the regular rate. So that's why I rated the value for money a 3 star. It is beautiful and very nice. Everything is modern and even the entrance is very grand. Our room had partial view, but it was perfect. We saw the harbor and the sea-green water. We...

I was there to ski and was surprised that the hotel was not within walking distance to the ski place (like what the website claims to be). Nonetheless, there is a shuttle bringing us to and fro the ski house albeit a little inconvenient. The hotel is comparable to international 5 stars hotel. Staff were attentive, helpful and initiated. Though most of them could not ...

Spacious room with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, enough utensils and equipment for cooking. Seems the interiors are newly renovated as everything in the room are so clean and new. Our kids were so happy with snowland on the mountain as well as small fun park at mountain base. It was so convenient to drive to nearby area as there are many restaurants and shops in about 3...

1. Beautiful hotel overlooking Gyeongpo lake and at the back is Gyeongpo beach. 2. We got upgraded to 10th floor with beautiful lake view. 3. The international buffet dinner was very nice with good varieties. The dessert was excellent. 4. Distance by taxi to other attraction places just within 15 to 20 minutes. Highly recommended to stay in this hotel. This is one ...

I've been to this hotel twice. I chose it because it is a 5-star hotel for the price of a 3 or 4 star hotel. While it certainly isn't the most luxurious hotel around, it is quite clean and the room are spacious and convenient. The bathrooms are especially large and high quality, with fully automated controls for lights and the toilet/bidet. The view is not great on any...

My second stay with Gangneung Tourist hotel! Chose a deluxe room this time and as usual it doesnt disappoint me and my partner. We had the best stay at this hotel during our overall trip. Hot water comes out nicely during the cold winter time and the stay manage to keep us super warm. Will come back here for the stay again if there's a chance! Keep it up!!

We are a family of 5 (2 adults & 3 children) that booked 2 family suites in late Dec. The hotel was well decorated to create a festive mood for Christmas. The rooms were clean with a beautiful view that overlooked the garden. The beds were very comfortable. It snowed heavily during our stay there and we had a great time taking photos and playing with the snow. They...

everything was perfect with nature. far from the city, but that's the best part of this hotel. very calm and beautiful place to stay (but the view was not that enjoyable ATM) best part was that they have daily schedules of meditation, yoga, and other group classes so that you dont really have to go anywhere, if your trip was for the purpose of "rest from the city"

my wife and i enjoyed and love the stay at kensington stars hotel. the first impression, look like and feel like; we are in the 50's 60's, with the peaceful environment and great service of the hotel's staff made it perfect. the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable; front desk staff, mr. ray provide us with important information for us to explore mt sorak and ...

Took a taxi from Gangneung KTX station to the hotel, which took 5min and cost us 4000won only. We booked a standard double room, and I immediately loved the room when I saw it - it was very tastefully but minimally decorated and felt very cosy. It was pretty spacious for 2pax, and they'd provided Aveda toiletries, which I was quite impressed by. Breakfast was equally s...

It's a bit expensive but it was a nice stay. The room was clean. My room came with balcony...if they provided table and chairs on the balcony like their picture for my room, would be great. Staff was great. The parking lots is kind of small but they provide valet parking so its great. It was located closed to local market and next to the sea. I was expecting to watch s...

Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. To be honest, the corridor of the rooms is dark and I think the lightning in the room isn’t bright enough, but still manageable. You will have to walk up a small slope to reach the hotel from the bus stop and you will pass by a few night clubs along the way. Hence, as I traveling alone, I don’t really dare to go back to my hotel too lat...

As the hotel staff speaks very limited English, it took us a lot of time to get the free shuttle bus timetable between Yongpyong resort and Hoenggye bus station (close to AM hotel). The bus departs from Yongpyong resort (Blisshill, 1st Floor, bus parking lot) at 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18.20, 19.30, 20.30, 21.40, 22.40, 0.30, 0.50. The bus departs from Hoenggye (a ...

the room was clean and the hotel lobby and area was decorated for the Christmas holidays! but the problem was the bathroom! we checked in late at night so I didnt notice the state of the bathroom til late. Thought this hotel was part of High1 on the other side of the mountain and not in Kangwon Land Casino, turned out I was wrong and it is right next to the Casino. Anyway, it all turned out great. It actually is confusing there entrance door says Kangwon Land Convention Hotel, but agoda calls it High1 Convention Hotel. There are a few signs saying High1 Convention Hote...

Really enjoyed my stay. Has washing area and must have facilities. The bathroom/toilet is even bigger and better than other hotels. Room is always clean and guests are respectful. Receptionists are always pleasant. They accommodated my requests to leave my luggage overnight since I will be staying for one night at temple stay and will be returning to the guesthous...

Our stay was excellent. Room next to slopes, so we had a great view all the time. Felt the build quality and hotel furnishings are all high quality, befitting of a 4-star hotel. Service staff could speak English, although not very well. We only have one minor issue. Our stay here was only marred by one incident - when we came back to our room after snowboard, we foun...

This resort is a GEM if you're skiing in High 1. Shuttle bus ride takes only 3min, starts fr 845am and runs every half hr in the morning and every hour after noon till 11pm. In my opinion, there's no point paying a premium to stay within the High 1 Resort itself coz you have to take shuttle bus to your ski start point anyway. Best part of this hotel is the ski shop lo...

The hotel is clean. Our room had a stove, refrigerator, and rice cooker, so we could have prepared meals if we wanted to. There is a large convenience store located on the bottom floor. They also have a coin laundry on that level. We ate at the breakfast buffet restaurant. They had a wide variety of choices- both Korean and Western. We walked to Waterpia next to the ho...

This hotel was a great choice. It is a bit out of town but close to several attractions. Hotel is a bit outdated and bathroom could have been cleaner. We stayed in the deluxe room and it was perfect for our family. Very roomy with dining room table, small kitchenette, couch, tv and separate bedroom. I was disappointed that the pool cost so much, it was around $30 for 1...
Cheap places to stay in Gangwon Province

I stayed here for the olympics so I didn’t actually spend much time in the inn. Strictly for sleep. However the capsules were very cozy. They aren’t sealed capsules. Just a curtain that gives u privacy. Though the curtain is only opaque halfway up. If ur in a top bunk it doesn’t matter but ppl can look into the bottom bunks. The beds are a bit hard but that’s a posit...

The location is convenient to catch a bus to Mt Seorak (30mins). Host kindly provided maps and information on attractions, food and bus services to all guests checking in. Facilities are very good, with a cosy breakfast room, books for reading, and there is a toilet for each room (4 pax). Only con is there was a mosquito in my room for 2 out of 3 nights. However, ...

The moment we reached the hotel, we have been welcomed by the owner who is very friendly. We quite surprised that the owner memorized our booking name. The dorm is very clean and comfortable. It is located on a very strategic location for those who plan to go to mount soarak and it is only in walking distance to Abai Village, the fisherman port which famous for a korea...

Great place for a stopover in Sokcho! We stayed for one week and felt very much like home. The place was very quiet as in very few guests when we stayed... so we almost had the place for ourselves :). We went hiking for a few days and left our luggage behind at no cost. The hosts are very nice and helpful, breakfast is the best we had since travelling in Asia for the ...

The hotel is named wrongly and there was no one at the hotel counter for almost 1.5 hours. I had to go to nearby hotel desk and ask for help who finally came and help me. The booking was not getting accepted but was given room finally. That experience was not good, but despite that I have rated better for other things keeping in mind my experience would have been a spe...

They are really helpful, the owner speaks korean and her son who was there for a weekend english. Even before talking to him, was easy to communicate everything we needed with the owner lady, she is really nice. Its about 2.5km to the entrance to the park, we walked every day, but you can also take a bus, if you want to.

The lady boss and her husband provide excellent services. They are very helpful and friendly. They helped me to order seafood at the restaurant. They gave me ideas for places to visit and provide us with directions. The room is super clean and the bed is very comfortable. The shower water is hot and strong. The air con is strong, cold and silent during hot summer. We s...

I didn't realize it when I booked the hostel for my friend and I, but the place has only been open for a month. It looks pristinely new and clean from the top floor (kitchen/dining area), to the basement (theater, computer/meeting room). We stayed in the 8-bed dorm room that was separate from the rest of the guesthouse, and it was also wonderfully clean. I appreciat...

I just love this hotel so much. Location is isolated from City Centre but since I love to relax and love to explore the nature it is the right spot for me. We can cook and all the materials are available at the room.Rice and some ingredients like kimchi and eggs can buy at mini store which is right beside the reception counter and they will give free cooking ingredient...

You couldnt get more central than this hotel. The rooms have remote control lights, elec toilets, desktop computer, huuugggee TV and everything else you can think of. The rooms are large and clean. For such a cheap price this place is amazing! We stayed in some 4 and 5 star hotels in Korea that didnt have all the things this place had. The room had a bit of a love v...

Made a last minute decision to stay in Donghae for a night. This was the first place we found. Great decision. Loved hanging out at the bar in the evening and taking in the chill surfer vibes. Then waking up to fresh beach air on the patio the next morning was tops.

I arrived to find the hostel shut and locked up. It is an annexe of the Seongrim Guest House next door and with the help of another english speaking lodge operator I was able to get a bed at the guest house. Communication was not easy as this place is not set up for foreign tourists. The facilities are ok and the location near Seoraksan national park very good.

Very valuable. Although there a bunk bed in the room, the size of the room is really big enough which is out of our expectation. Moreover, the view of our room is wonderful. Though my Korean is very poor and the staff is not good at English, he used "Translate" to tried his best to understand our needs and provide help. He is very nice and helpful.

We got a good deal because we visited during low season winter. There are bunch of motels along the beaches area which is very popular in warm seasons. As it is located "out of the way" from downtown, one has to expect to walk a certain distance after dropping off the nearest bus stop. We were told by google map that several buses you can take e.g. 206 and 207 which br...

We came here at the time of super peak season in Korea. We got bumped off by a hotel we booked in another website because they were asking for a 40% price increase. Anyway, we booked here just 5 hours we came. This was so great for its price and seasonality. Probably, the location is a factor for that, however, if you have a car and would take taxis, that shouldn't be...

The boss and staff spoke minimal English but they were extremely helpful and friendly. The boss always tries his best to communicate with us in English. They helped us with our laundry (washing, drying and even folding them) and refused any payment for their service. The hotel room is clean and spacious. The only downside of the hotel is its WiFi which cannot connect t...

The host of the guesthouse was very friendly, although her English was not that good, she will try her best to provide assistance, even invite me to have dinner with her family. The hostel was clean and tidy and with a good location that just needed 10~15 mins walking distance to the train station (P.S. the Gangneung Train Station is now under reconstruction).

This place was wonderful! The room was well appointed, with TV, computer, wi-fi, fridge, stove, kettle, rice cooker (and a microwave and washing machine upstairs). The bed was comfortable, the decor was tasteful, and the best thing was how wonderfully helpful and friendly the staff was! He helped me find an exchange bank (even drove me there himself!), loaned me an umb...

Check in doesn't start until 4 pm which is amazingly late. They market themselves as a party hostel so those usually aren't the cleanest. Although there wasn't any particular problem with mold or smells, I was there for 3 nights and they never once cleaned the room or bathroom. There was a lot of paper and plastic trash around the room that me and some other guests cle...

This hotel is a bit worn and older, but the staff keep it clean, and it is within walking distance of the new KTX station in Gangneung, so it's a good, cheap option if you have a train to catch. It's a bit far from everything else, but taxis are cheap and plentiful, so the location isn't terrible. Overall, it was what I expected for a cheap motel near a train station.

The location is really good. It was nice to watch the Sunrise over the mountains from the balcony. It was really quiet and the bed was really comfortable. It is, however is an area with several abandoned properties and that gives the place a spooky vibe. Also, the check in is at the Hotel across the street - not necessarily a bad thing, but there is no one manning the ...

A clean and modern hotel. Friendly and nice staff, that speak English. Price was a bit high, but I think this is because of the Winter Olympics - normally I would expect the price to be quite reasonable. Conveniently located for visiting the Gangneung Olympic Park.

Good location for the remote stay and to have a rest out of a busy life. Not easy to access with public transportation. Private car is mandatory to travel to and from this hotel This hotel is not running restaurant, but near the entrance is found a good one. Good to take a walk around and to rest. But peak days need more staff

We stayed for four hotels during our stay in South Korea (which we booked through Agoda.com) and all hotels had friendly staff except this hotel. The staff was helpful for our needs however all done without any smile. The amenities in the room including shampoo was not free. You have to pay for it with HIGH price. The staff could speak little English.

Our trip back to to Donghae was an excellent one thanks to the hotel. The location is excellent, and the hotel is clean, friendly english speaking staff, and great food at quite affordable prices. We had been here in the early 2000 and have been amazed at the changes; all for the better. We enjoyed the easy pedestrian overpass to allow easy access to the beach area ...

The hotel is about 10-15 minutes from High-1 ski resort. The staff was very helpful and when we checked in we were supposed to have a room that slept 4 adults. However, there was only 1 western bed and a floor pad. We asked if we could move to another room with 2 beds and instead they gave us 2 different rooms and did not charge for an additional room. It was a nice ge...

Olympia hotel & resort was reasonably priced compared to Yongpyong resort hotels. However it has only very basic offering. Rooms are really standard, no extras.. even cleaning was not done daily. Staff is very friendly and keeps smiling. They also try to help as much as possible. Language barrier makes communication a little difficult, but that is common everywhere in...

It was a super fun hotel for our toddler. We booked the Paw Paw room so it was so special for her. The room is decorated with Paw Paw characters and her bed was in a nice (not tacky) Paw Paw kids tent. We went swimming at the pool (which is not crowded at all) and came back to our room to find a tray of goodies (cookies, gummy bears, and a macaron). Sleeping was a litt...

Can't complain one of best stays in Korea. I stayed at a standard room the cheapest with no view but the bed was extremely comfortable and rest room was very clean. I saw staff cleaning the hotel facilities all the time. Superb facilities I loved the Mar Therapy offed by the Spa. Overall great value.

We stayed in the hotel portion of the resort for a 3 day weekend, mainly to hike in Seoraksan.
