Georgia State hotels & places to stay

The hotel was lovely and I couldn't have stayed in a better location for my conference. My No to recommending the Omni Hotel is based entirely on the state of their internet connectivity. It's such a critical component how could a hotel have bad WiFi. On my priority list for a hotel it goes: Bed, Locking Door, Toilet, Wifi, Lights in that order. When I got to my room I found out there's a 10$ fee to access the wifi unless you sign up for their Omni Guest Rewards Program. The system was weird and I wasn't sure I signed up properly, when I checked out I learned I hadn't and luckily the staff member connected my guest membership to get the 10$ knocked off my bill. I only ended up trying to use the wifi the first night and didn't bother the next two nights and stuck to data because the Wifi was terribly slow. You can get better wifi in the Conference Center, I-95 rest stops, Tokyo Subway tunnels, and just about every other place in 2019.

This hotel is pretty central to everything. Our average Uber ride was about $13. The staff was very accommodating. The hotel was clean. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Our only complaint was that the bed could have been more comfortable, but that may be something that's more our preference in mattress type. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and I would stay there again. As a side note, Hilton doesn't honor Hilton Honors Points when booking through a third party.

Pros: affordable, clean, good location, quiet area. Cons: no free parking, booked for 5 people but was given only 2 queen beds and only 4 sets of towels, system was down had to wait past 4pm for check-in. Shampoo was really tiny maybe 15ml to be shared by 5 people no kidding. Shampoo lotion body wash claimed to be 'anti-stress' but smelled funky to me, all pocket sized.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The rooms clean and comfy. The staff were very helpful. And the hotel is in the center of everything you want to do in Savannah. Everything is within walking distance, so park your car and forget about it. We used valet parking, and the valet gave us some of the best tips for our stay, from places to eat to the fact that there's a hotel elevator that goes down to River Street and that it's much more reliable than the public elevator next to the hotel. We stayed over the St. Patrick's Day weekend and the city was absolutely crazy, but the hotel staff and security did a great job keeping things calm and quiet inside.

This is a solid 4 star hotel. It has a very chic lobby and feel, but it feels dated. My room was really dark - due to decorating decisions. That is not really my style. I like to see what I'm doing. Fixtures were quite old. Our sliding bathroom door did not close all the way,. The bed was absolutely comfortable, as you would expect from a W hotel. However, I do think this hotel could use some upgrades. We got breakfast included. It was mediocre. We skipped breakfast the second day and found a nice diner.

Stayed there twice- once our drive south and again going back home north because it is a great location, allowed our dog, had very nice staff, nice room, great bar off the lobby. Full service hotel—Gave us champagne on arrival, valeted our car, helped with luggage, had a nice breakfast. Best part is location near the best area for eating and nightlife. Plus our dog loved it, too!

I have been to many hotels and hostels all over the world, and I must say the knowledge and helpfulness at this hotel was amazing. The rooms are standard and the cleaness and location are more what you normally expect. If you book through agoda, booking.com or hotels hotels., please confirm that the hotel also have your confirmation before you go there since many of them use each other and an old system that makes you get a confirmation but not the hotel. IN my case agoda solved it after some call from the hotel.

We were leaving on a honeymoon to Jamaica the next morning. The night manager told me I could pay a set fee and park on site instead of driving to a park and pay. She stated we would be dropped off and picked up at airport and shuttles back to our car after our trip. The honeymoon was great and we got back to Atlanta wore out. I was on the phone over 30 minutes trying to call the hotels shuttle service with no luck. No answer. I called the front desk so where around 20 times. The operator would answer and say “hold please” but never returned, for 20 calls(no lie, I checked my call log). We ended up renting a taxi to take us to pick up the car and upon arrival, after explaining the complete disadvantage, we got a ‘I’m sorry’.

The Omni Hotel was immaculate. The environment they cast perfectly captured elegance in a prime location in the center of the battery. Staff was nice, and the view from my room was fantastic. There were a few negatives that really sullied the trip. 1. I stayed 1 night in the Omni. At the end of my stay, upon checkout, I was notified of a $40 valet charge. For a $200 a night hotel to charge such a fee seemed excessive. Not the presence of a charge, I paid for parking at upper echelon hotels before, but the fact that it was $40! I still tipped the valet $20 as I had intended since the beginning. Getting the hotel its money is a nice thought, but how much of that $40 do the people actually doing the work get. 2. The key cards are sticky. I spent a good 10-15 minutes each time I got on the elevator trying to get it to read my key card, but couldn't find the exact positioning. All in all, I think the valet charge sullied the experience so much so, I will be looking to stay in another hotel.

When we walked into our room, and checked out the bathroom, we noticed there was a shower stall but no bathtub. My husband, who knows how much I enjoy my daily soak in the bathtub, said this won't do. So he went back to the front desk, and told the person working that it was my birthday weekend and that I really enjoyed taking a bath. She switched us to another room with the bathtub. She asked if everything else was to our liking and could she send anything up for us. When we checked out the next day, the person working at that time (different than day before) was just as friendly and efficient.

It all comes down to getting a good night’s sleep and because the AC was exceptionally loud, we couldn’t. We asked how to turn it off, and the answer was that it can’t be shut off. I have good earplugs but they couldn’t reduce the noise nearly enough. What a waste of energy, too. Good location (right next to subway), clean, and friendly staff. But impossibly noisy.

It was a beautiful location however they do have some issues they need to address. My wife and I went to celebrate our 37 year anniversary. The Dining Rooms were closed so we had to drive 25 minutes to Douglasville to eat all except lunch on Friday. When you are an isolated facility you need places for guest to eat. There were only enough to make 3 cups of coffee and 1 pack of cream and sugar for 2 people 2 days. We went and purchased our own coffee maker, coffee, and condiments. There needs to also be a micro-wave. The LVT flooring is nice but you can hear every step, furniture moving , etc. from above. We stayed in a rear unit facing the lake. I had to call at 10:30 to your main office to get someone to come make the neighbors above be quiet so we could sleep. They were dragging furniture and stuff around until 10:30 at night. Should put carpet/pad on the floors that are above that bottom level because obviously they didn't put any insulation in the floor between the 2.

With very little time for research, I booked the hotel for myself, a friend and my puppy to escape Hurricane Irma based solely on rate and location. So I was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel and its grounds were lovely, room cozy and clean, and the staff warm and welcoming. The entire hotel was full of fellow evacuees and their dogs, and everyone from the front desk to the servers to the valet and bellman went out of their way to make a difficult situation a little brighter. Thank you!

The staff was really nice. The hotel is in walking distance of shopping and great restaurants. Paying extra for a river view meant we were on ground level, with no direct access to the waterfront. Although I liked being at the end of the hall, it meant that there were quite a few military couples (they had military balls this weekend) that thought it was okay to hook up in front of our window at night. The spa would’ve been worth it if I hadn’t booked a couple’s package. She was fantastic, but we had one cosmetologist for the both of us. So we had to wait while one was getting their pedicure and manicure (switching out). That service ended up costing more than the room, which would’ve been fine if we had our own cosmetologist. The bar wasn’t worth it.

Our family spent a very enjoyable three days at the Hotel at Avalon. It was busy due to the Thanksgiving holiday, also with several weddings taking place at the conference center, but that added to the ambiance. The front desk was exceedingly helpful and accommodating. The room was very clean and reasonably quiet, despite the many dogs in evidence (I assume that there are designated pet-friendly rooms or even floors), and the beds were incredibly comfortable! I appreciate that there were dispensers in the shower (vs. wasteful little plastic bottles) and recycling in the room. The only negatives were that only two of the three elevators were operational, making for long waits on occasion; we were not informed of the additional cost for parking until checkout; that room service came quite late in the day; and that we were short a bath towel on our final evening... Overall, a memorable stay - we'll do it again.

I rarely give bad reviews, but I felt that this hotel was overpriced with no amenities. The breakfast was $15 for conventional and $18 for the buffet. There was a charge of $16 for the internet. There was no free water. The room rate was $180 for a night. After I checked out I was told if I join the Marriott rewards program, which is free, I would have received discounts. I feel that should have been told to me up front. The food was mediocre. I am a southerner and the food did not taste traditional southern. The location was beautiful, and they do have a shuttle to Stone Mountain. The staff was friendly and helpful.
