Kagawa Prefecture hotels & places to stay

this is one of the best budget hotels that I have stayed in. the room is spacious comparing to the standard size in japan. the room is clean and tidy. the staff is professional and welcoming. not the best option if you are just staying for a night for transfer to other cities, but definitely recommend it if you are exploring around the city and major shopping avenues are just downstairs!

Fantastic full window views of Angel Road from our room. Wonderful dinner and buffet breakfast included. Lovely onsens to relax in as well - both indoor and outdoor type. Cherry on top was the staff - they went absolutely above and beyond to try to accomodate us and make sure we had a pleasant stay as well as make sure we made our ferry on to Takamatsu. I especially recommend this hotel because of they really still do convey the true Japanese hospitality - which can be hard to sometimes find these days.

I loved everything about my stay at this hotel. My very reasonably priced room was spacious and had a great view of the bay. The staff was friendly and helpful. I rented a bicycle from them for a day and did a nice ride to the Movie Village at the end of a quiet coastal road. They had free quality coffee service in the lobby. If you stay multiple nights and agree to not have daily cleaning they give you store credit. They offer free use of a DVD player for your room so I could watch an English language movie (bring your own DVD). All around great experience, most of all because the staff was so helpful with a variety of things including the island bus schedule (there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel). I am looking forward to my next stay at this great hotel.

We stayed in both the JR Hotel Clement and the JR Clement Inn, which are next door to each other across the street from the Takamatsu port, and we liked the JR Clement Inn more. The large Hotel Clement, with its marble atriums, big restaurants, and floors full of conference spaces, seemed like an impersonal upscale business hotel, whereas the much smaller JR Clement Inn seemed bright, efficient, and cute. The JR Clement Inn has nice, small touches, like a cozy public bath on the top floor with views of the city, easy-to-use coin laundry, an excellent coffee machine in the lobby, and comfy pajamas (crisper than the ones we got at the Hotel Clement). It would be nice if rooms had a coffee maker and if the Inn had better breakfast choices. The Inn is akin to an Aloft or perhaps Courtyard by Marriott, but it's an excellent example of one of these.

Almost perfect except for its a bit far away from oboke station, but its free shuttle service to and from the station, even to another nearby hotel as in my case, got rid of the location problem. Once arrived in the hotel, the receptionist who i still remember her name, was so helpful not only explaining the hotel facilities and onsen usage, but also assisting us to plan our upcoming activities during our stay. I was greatly impressed by that. The public onsen is really great. There is a special facilitity where you stand at the center and it fires arrays of strong water beams at your body. The open air onsen is very pleasant with the view of the back hill, with some beautiful maples leaves floating on the onsen surface. All in all, we enjoy the whole experience and would recommend it to anyone interested in taking a relaxed day with hot spring onsen.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The location is a short bus ride from the JR rail station and easy to find in a central location, with a bus stop 20 metres from the door. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was more spacious than we had come to expect in Japan and the fittings and features clean, new and of a high standard. Breakfasts were good with reasonable choice and quality, but undoubtedly one of the hotels best features was the early evening lounge/library. Here in quiet calm and comfort, hotel guests were invited to enjoy quality canapés, snacks and drinks, including wines, beer and sake, all as part of the service. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 day stay here and would recommend this hotel as our most enjoyed stay in Japan and providing the best value for money.

The hotel offer breathtaking view overseeing Seto Inland Sea. Best to watch sunset from your hotel room, sea view facing. The staff is friendly and kind. The breakfast served traditional Japanese breakfast but what make it stand out is the three different color drinks red, green and orange in little glass. Really nice presentation. The room is super spacious as we are 3 pax. The location is out of town but there is no problem for us as we have our rental cars. We get our dinner from Takamatsu city, which is just 15 mins drive from Yashima Mountain top. The hotel room is so spacious that I didnt even realised I was actually staying in Japan. One thing to note, to enter Bokaiso Hotel, it is a bit challenging as the entry leading to Bokaiso hotel is not clear and the road is rather narrow and small. We didnt know we could drive in the small path so we parked outside at Yashima visitor center and walked in for 15 mins. Car can enter via the small path.

Typhoon hit on the day that i was supposed to checked in, called the staff to let them know i maybe late and they were very kind and patient to offer alternative commute suggestions, despite my halting Japanese. My room was very pretty and had a balcony porch that i enjoyed having some nice tea at whilst pondering by the night sky. The onsen was simply lovely, the typhoon was slowly dying down when i took my bath and i had the best onsen experience in their outdoor open onsen. Food was great, staff took great care of me and made me felt at home. There were also yukatas of very pretty patterns available for borrowing and they were very affordable, the staff also helped me with wearing them. Location is within walking distance to all the sightseeing places. In all, i had a great stay.

It was not hard to locate the hotel, just that I first entered through the side entrance hence needed some navigation inside a building (clear signage was provided). It was further from the station than expected, still reasonable: took about 10 minutes to walk. I had booked a single non-smoking room but it was not available during checkin, the staff was nice enough to “upgrade” me to a twin room; perhaps it was due to my 2-night stay. Very little English is used in the hotel but good enough to get you around, I had my google map to bring me around. Just be mindful that international atm is not readily available in Shikoku (unlike the other areas in Japan); I had to train to Takamatsu (just a short ride away on the express train) to fetch some money before making my way back to the hotel on the same day.

It is a little bit hard to find, by which I mean you have to look above your eye level to see the sign. The lady that worked a the repection was extra pleasent and helpfull. I needed a place to crash next to the port and train station and i got that. It was clean and nice. If I ever come back I won't thi k twice where to book my accomodation. And accros the street is a very nice izakaya for the dinner 🤗

We are an American couple traveling to Takamatsu for the first time. The APA Hotel seems to be more designed for Japanese business travelers. However, we found the bed to be comfortable, the facilities to be good, and the location to be pretty good as well. There is an excellent coffee shop located within 5 minutes walking and plenty of restaurants/shopping around as well. My husband is taller, so the small bathroom was especially small. The room was pretty small as well, but the bed was comfortable and big enough for two, there was a desk, and a TV. Maybe more channels or instructions in English for the remote control? The breakfast was okay. I would suggest going out if you did not get it included with the room.

We stayed as wanted a cheap hotel on our way back into Takamatsu after driving around the Iya Valley. The price was excellent and just a 20 min drive back to the train station. Just make sure the room states non smoking. I booked a double which turned out to be a smoking room. Thankfully the room didn't smell of cigarettes. This issue was more a fault of Agoda than the actual hotel. It pays to clarify room types if it's not clear!

The traditional apartment is an interesting place to live in, different from hotels. The location is 5 min walk from 瓦町 station and you probably need Google map to get there. The bathroom is outside of the room but that's okay with me. Of course, there are inconvenient things like you can hear noise from neighborhood traverllers. For those who have serious trouble with sleeping, please consider this option. Overall, I really appreciate staying here due to the unique experience and nice house owner. As a non-JP speaker, I really need tour advice from local Japanese who is good at English. Thank you again!

The hotel was really right next to the jr station Utazu, walkable distance to the coastline to enjoy time looking at the sea and longest bridge. Their buffet breakfast variety is excellent and their udon is a must eat! Reception was great too. Though English might be a problem but they were patient and friendly, so everything work out fine. Room wise, don't expect it to be like super big or class but it's already not bad considering the price and you still get to shower or take a bath in a clean washroom. In conclusion, great experience and would definitely choose it again if I'm going to Shikoku.

The Honmura Art Village is tiny, everywhere is walkable. The host guided me through the intro with little English and laminated cards and with grace and charm. A recommendation was made for the restaurant serving set meal os sashimi fish was superb. My traditional room was spotless but hot though the temperature moderated (which may or may not have been the a/c!) in time. Toilet and bathroom were clean and plenty of hot water for a shower though bathroom is showing it’s age. Traditional breakfast was laid out and just needed the non-traditional microwave to warm the delicious miso soup and specialty rice balls. Certainly recommended as the traditional Guest House that it is.

The hotel is located in a quiet location. If you are driving, it would be a great choice. The hotel room size is good, I love the bed as it is bigger than most of the bed in Japanese Hotel. Bath room is as small as most of the Japanese hotel but they have Onsen so it would not be a problem to me. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful, very willing to provide advise to you. They have staff can speak English and Chinese, so communication is not a problem. I selected room with dinner and breakfast, it is surprisingly good, a variety of choice, good quality. It is a great value of money. In compare with the other Onsen hotel I stay in this trip, it is only half the cost but have much better meal than that one. If I will be in that area, I will surely stay in there again.

Disclaimer: my wife and I are traveling on foot, with train. If you travel with car and happen to visit the Kagawa prefecture, this place is a perfect deal and I recommend it without any reserve (it would doubtlessly be a 10 over 10). However, if you don't have a car, you'd better find to rest somewhere else. The hotel is at a thirty minutes walk from the JR train station of Sakaide, in the middle of nowhere (docks and warehouses but it feels safe), so, if you have luggage, it will be a chore to reach it. Luckily, you have, just on the next side of the road, an Udon road restaurant where you can have delicous "Sanuki udon" (very famous across all Japan) for very cheap, as well as a small Lawson shop. I also recommend to take your breakfast at the hotel: it's 540 yens per capita, but it's worthwhile. The room is perfectly clean, it's spacious enough, you have resting chairs, a small desk, a comfortable bed, a huge TV screen. I only wish there was an additional western-style pillow.
