Where to stay in Kalutara District
Kalutara District hotels & accommodations
I emailed the hotel twice to arrange an airport pickup. Once through their email address and the second time by completing a form on their website. I didn't receive a response to either so we took a prepaid taxi from the airport. The driver couldn't find the hotel so we called the number on the agoda booking voucher but it wasn't working. When we eventually found the h...
All the Things are great, Nice Location, Clean & Comfortable rooms, Great Food, Beautiful - Clean Beach, Very Friendly Staff (Each and every one we met). Specially the Staff Member of Lime Sun Cafe Mr.Buddika is excellent. He helped us in so many ways. If you think of Staying a hotel in Kalutara area, Make Cirtus your first choice. We love to go there again.
Finally it was nice stay after trying many hotels in Sri Lanka. There are few things can be improved such as cleaning beach, but compare to other few 5 star hotels where I stayed I must say experience was nice. Thanks for upgrading us into sea view rooms, I will be returning on again 1st of April, booked two rooms, would appriciate if I can have similar rooms.
Brendan and Bernadette created a piece of paradise on this piece of Sri-lankan land. The rooms are very well designed, the restaurant serves the best food in Sri-Lanka - tasty, sophisticated and juicy. I especially loved the separate large luggage room - it allows to keep luggage separately of the main room and avoid it looking cluttered. The outside waterfall shower i...
First things first, this hotel is no where near Bentota! Its in Kalutara which is a 30 minutes by a Tuk-Tuk to Bentota. Hence if you are expecting the same lovely beaches as Bentota prepare to be disappointed as the hotel is located on a narrow strip which has the sea to one side and the lake to the other. The location and area is bit isolated and hence one can expect ...
Lovely hotel located in a quiet area of Beruwala right on the beach, there’s a decent reef 50m off the beach which offers some decent snorkelling. We had a ground floor room with direct access to the pool which was perfect for our kids. The breakfast is okay but nothing special, similarly the other available meals are nothing special and overpriced, best to walk 5 minu...
This hotel was chosen solely to attend my friend's wedding and having been there multiple times for wedding receptions i particularly never thought of a overnight stay. However when i did ultimately stay, from Starting point from the Doorman to front office to the Restaurant and Housekeeping each and every staff member was extremely helpful, from carrying your sholderb...
Booked this hotel off the internet in Sri Lanka with no reviews so took a chance. Pleasantly surprised with very clean surroundings, friendly staff and fantastic health treatments for the wife.
To stay at Amuura is to enjoy the warmth of Claire, Paulina and Carlotta’s hospitality (not to mention the excellent customer service of Amal), to relax in blissful boutique surroundings by a stretch Beruwala beach, and to be a part of a project that’s doing things differently - built with sustainability at its core. Meeting fellow travellers around the breakfast/dinne...
Its a pretty new place situated around 45 minutes away from Colombo. The staff were very helpful and polite. They had the option of a buffet as well as an a la carte menu. Room service was excellent. Overall it was a good experience.
If you stay 2-3 days then this place will probably strike you as special luxury, but if you want to use it for a base for longer the cracks appear. I don't normally stay in such luxury places but was wanting to be pampered prior to having surgery back home so pushed the boat out and booked 6 nights. While the pavilions are very comfortable and the food (especially the ...
When I visit Sri Lanka again I will stay at no other place. The staff is the friendliest you will ever encounter. Our breakfast and supper was brilliant. I must say that "Dill" our host was the friendliest and most helpful I have ever encountered. I have travelled to a few places but never been treated with such hospitality. A must place to stay if anybody visits Kulut...
My family and I (me, my husband and 2 kids aged 2 and 5) spend a very nice weekend at The Plantation Villa. From the first step out of the car till we waved goodbye to all(!) the staff we felt welcome and were cared for in any way. The place is an old and charming victorian bungalow with big bright common areas and the suite, where we stayed, was big and beautifully d...
good place to unwind ,good food great staff ,have been there many times.
Good hosts and very nice big breakfast :)
Excellent hotel for leisure. In general, Sri Lanka is a very crowded side, but this hotel gives a real chance to have a rest and relax. It has a good layout, a beautiful beach and comfortable rooms, brilliant staff - warm and attentive (especially want to point Sambath :) ). The owner of the hotel - Mr. Roy is very good and pleasant person, who holds the daily contact...
We were here for 8 day vacation. This is a great resort hotel in Kalutara with plenty of things to do. Rooms are in great conditions and the staff is so friendly. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to visit sril lanka and relax. The ocean front is great. The breakfast and dinner are really good with so many varities everyday. my husband & i stayed for 3 idylic weeks at this fab hotel. we had heard via tripadisor about suresh (the best guy to book everything with!), so arranged transport from colombo airport to the hotel at a very good price. we were provided with refreshing drinks on arrival & given a friendly welcome by hotel staff. luckily, we were allocated a great room overlooking the b...
I booked a double room and a triple room for 20th of October. When we checked in we had an issue with the 3rd bed in the triple room as it’s was a small extra bed with a thinner mattress which wasn’t comfortable. We were very upset and dissatisfied. When we complained it was dealt by a gentleman called Raj from front office. He swiftly changed with a different bed with...
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We went for a wedding at the hotel. This was a clean, modern hotel, with swim up bar. Good for families and couples. You cannot swim in the ocean this time of year, too dangerous. However, there was a large pool area. This was off season for Sri Lanka, so the hotel was not full. Staff was cheerful and friendly. Good laundry se...
my wife and i had a memorable stay at this hotel, was very comfortable and the staff was very courteous and help full. we will certainly be back again. the best thing we enjoyed was the massage centre as we was so relaxed.all the rest of the facilities was great.
I'm somewhat surprised with some of poor reviews this hotel as received. We booked the Palms for the Christmas and New Year Period, planning to move on to another area within Sri Lanka. However we were enjoying ourselves so much we rebooked and remained at the Palms for the rest of our holiday after going on a 2 day excursion trip to Kandy and the hills. We found th...
I visited Villa Ocean view for a brief stay in December with my Parents. Stayed overnight. Location is very good - adjacent to a beatiful strtch of beach in wadduwa. Food is also quite ok.Cleanliness and facilities can be improved- Hotel appears rather neglected. Everything was offset by exceptional staff-Specially Sanjeewa, Lasantha, Priyankara and Dhammika. The manag...
We were treated like lady and lord of the manor. A stunning old colonial home sympathetically restored in to 4 huge rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Beautifully furnished communal areas. Although there was a menu, the onsite chefs were more than happy to cook to order and their Sri Lankan specialities such as curry and rice were exceptional. A beautiful old house in a stu...
It is a very charming, secluded, relaxing, small and very private hotel. It is super clean and neat. It has a beautifuly manicured palm garden that exits at the beach. The rooms are nice size and very comfortable but the bathroom is the pearl of the treasure. To be able to have a shower watching the stars and listening to the waves in your oun private space was a gre...
Hotel is a short ride by Tuk Tuk from Beruwela train station. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful.
Nice quiet location with friendly staff and owner, room was clean and spacious but could do with hot water in the shower however it was so hot you probably didn't need it. Breakfast was good and the evening meal was okay. Five minutes from the beach which could do with clean up. Would stay again
Staying in this guesthouse is like being at home with your own family! Place is simple but includes everything you need.
We thourghly enjoyed our one night stay at the Kamili Beach Villa. Our room 108 was very spacious excellent shower room and very well appointed, tea making facilities small fridge dressing gowns and even a laundry service well done Agoda for booking this hotel for us. We had the evening buffet which was very good and a good choice for all tastes, the bar served local d...
my wife and i were on our first trip to sri lanka and due to a late night arrival in sl we decided to stay a night at colombo( we were headed to bentota). with no reviews to read we were skeptical but all was put to rest from the moment we laid eyes on the property and the skepticism was buried after meeting eranga the owner. ankinda is a tastefully done up bungalow, w...
Cheap places to stay in Kalutara District
I was only there for one day ,very welcoming staff came to airport to pick me up, I had a best room with big lounge, kitchen, roof top area with the view of sea, good internet connection, was able to order homemade delicious srilankan dinner at night. I was able to use washing machine to wash my cloth and dry it same time to go to Kandy. Staff were so nice, malakanth...
nice family at this place. delicuous fresh food. very clean. took us to a local fish market early in the morning without any other travellers or tourists. beach was quite near, but big resorts over there. helped us with travel plans. had long and interesting conversations about nearly everything. nice stay.
Pleasant. Home converted Bed and Breakfast run by a sweet couple who made sure everything was taken care of. It is more a backpacker type of hostel where you have a room to yourself. Overall good
Great place, very friendly staff, and owner is cool guy as well. Highly reccomended, clean and nice
Good hosts and very nice big breakfast :)
Raj is one of the nicest people we met on our tour of Sri Lanka. He was helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Our room had no aircon so he set up 2 fans in the room. The Inn has a juice bar cafe on site. I really liked the accommodation. Raj is doing a great job there. Bathrooms and rooms are very clean and modern. Anything that wasn't right about the visit had nothi...
We had a room with fan and mosquitonet in the ground floor. Sadly often those rooms have a problem with mould fungus, here as well. The bed was clammy and the linen were not nice and clean. Anyway the staff was very nice and maybe the upstair rooms are nicer. The price was okay for the standard, but i would expect a nice linen and dry bed where it feels good to sleep. ...
Clean spacious rooms. Friendly staff.
Very friendly and welcoming staff in Emildale Villa. Big, modern and clean room with nice bed and huge balcony. Good value for money and 5 min walk from Wadduwa railway and Indian Ocean.
Had a great stay here, beautiful pool, cold beer and great german food. The staff were also super helpful when jetlagged i left all valuables in the room and was away for days!
We just spent a fantastic 5 nights with the Victoy family, who were so welcoming, happy, friendly and most helpful with our holiday plans. Our ensuite room was comfortable and clean with Air conditioning. The breakfasts were sensational local cuisine, and was always different. Deepika is a beauty therapist and hairdresser, and I had a wonderful massage from her. Victor ...

I stayed here by myself for four nights at the end of a four week trip to Thailand and Sri Lanka. A family run guest house run by a friendly couple. Lovely gardens and nice pool. Only a few rooms so the pool does not get crowded. Although near the beach there are no cafes, bars or restaurants near by. I used a local Tuk Tuk guy to take me to the 'strip' with restaurant...
When I cheked in, the room I was given the TV was not working. But there were other rooms with TV working. But the House Keeper said, if im to switch rooms I have to pay and additional amount, its totally the properties issue not reparing the TV. Since I needed the TV I paid and additional amount and got the other room. Housekeeper said its a large and better room, and...
Hotel is a short ride by Tuk Tuk from Beruwela train station. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful.
friendly staff convenient location good facilities
I've stopped at Mr & Ms Silva's villa for 5 days. These 5 days were like staying "at home". Silva's family are helpful, tactful and kind people – they will make you feel safe and comforted. Mr Nelson can show you best sights or attractions nearby or help you organise your trip across the country – but will never insist or be disappointed by your refusal. Tip: there is ...
Excellent staff. They were very accommodating, attentive and always showing respect to guests. Especially to Dash, who assisted us on our stay. The guy in the reception Lamal (apologize if its wrong spelling) , the guy who was attentive to give us our own table beside the pool alwAys and placing a “reserved table” sign on it to make it sure we have our place. And gave ...
My stay at ocean ripple was amazing! The staff, accomadation and location are Excellent. 30 second walk to the beach and a 2 minute walk to the train station. The chef was top notch! best food in Sri Lanka. The owners son spoke very good English and was a fountain of knowledge about Sri Lanka. He even continued to email me through out my travels to make sure I was get...
Overall very good place to spend a holiday! staffs are very friendly and felt like staying at home.] Front office lady very friendly and helpful and other staffs very good. I'm a girl and booked this hotel for 02 nights. Experience was awful that I checked out after staying only one night. 1. Bed sheets were not available and on my request they provided a bed sheet which was not clean and I couldn't use it. 2. Lock of the door was broken & it was very unsafe I had to block the door using a chair. 3. Bathroom/Toilets were not cleaned at al...

We had a really nice stay here. Spacious and clean room and a lovely garden and a nice little pool. We just needed 2 days to relax in the end of our trip in Sri Lanka, and this was perfect. good place to unwind ,good food great staff ,have been there many times.
Mentioned that check in can be done from 730am however when i went there at 1230pm room was not available and finally got a room at 430pm. Booked a cabana but received an ordinary room.. Was very disappointed.. To add to it DIALOG TV was disconnected and got it connected by 630pm.. Asked for a tea and it took more than hour to serve a cup of tea..

since it was a small hotel there weren't much people so we had the pool to ourselves (it's quite a small pool though). The surrounding is very quiet and it's just a short drive from Colombo. If you are looking for a place to chill with a bunch of friends this is ideal in terms of budget, location and offerings.

An unclean resort, unprofessional staffs, offers complementary lunch because of ignorance. We changed the room thrice within 3 hours due to impurity, unhigenic reasons, don't merely trust the pictures posted on agoda. Charges for food without a menu card. We had a warm welcome and were promised a room upgrade from the Guest relations manager, however she realised we had already paid for a better than average room, so no upgrade and that was the only negative thing about our stay. Great place to spend the holidays lovely garden surrounded by tropical trees and tropical birds. Nice sea breeze also makes it a very comfortable set up. The best service we experienced so far in this beautifully island. Good luck with the ayurveda retreat sure it's going to be great and looking forward to getting some treatments !!!
Simply a hotel long past being operational. The price was ridiculous. Spent most of the time looking for better deals to move out.
Anantara is known for luxury resort but Kalutara is just average in terms of resort design, atmosphere , dining options and it’s natural setting Room is spacious but nothin surprising Facilities r ok with 24/7 gym Adult pool is nicer and the other main pool is just very standard Resort claims to be positioned with ocean and lagoon view but resort is not exactly b...
So this would be our 2nd Christmas in a row staying at Club Waskaduwa. We originally booked for a Ocean Deluxe Room, but because the hotel was overbooked they upgraded us to...
A beautiful hotel complex with excellent Irish management and a very capable reception manager! Our butler Ajith de Silva is also particularly noteworthy. Initially hotel looked like a 5 star property, but once we went inside and started interacting with hotel staff realized why the rates are cheap compared to others. Building, pool, beach access is excellent but everything is badly managed like cleanliness of lobby, restaurant takes 30-45 mins to serve any food, lack of vegetarian food options.
