Where to stay in Lao Cai
Lao Cai hotels & accommodations

Booked 4 night stay at this hotel at a not-so-decent price but we decided to end the vacation after 3 days. It wasn't the hotel alone that attribute to the decision, in fact, bad weather and the town's poor infrastructure played a big part here, but there're surely rooms for Paos to improve if they're to match with the 5 star standard. We requested a hotel transfer f...

We booked this hotel due to it being a new hotel with nice facing view in room but abit disappointed that the category that we booked doesn't match what the website had stated. Therefore we did feedback that we are a bit disappointed on the view from our room. Hotel did a good service by showing us the different room types & we can be upgraded for a extra charges. But ...

Our trip to Sapa was made amazing by our stay in SilkPath. We took an overnight train from Hanoi to Lao Cai and arrived in the hotel at 0700hrs. While it was full house, the hotel was kind enough to let us use the shower facilities to freshen ourselves in the morning before heading out for the adventure in Sapa. Everyone was so warm and nice from the reception staff to...

We stayed in the Deluxe Family Room at Sapa Horizon and boy was it amazing. They accommodated all our requests - such as arranging for the taxi transfer from Lao Cai Station at 5.30AM to the hotel. They were even able to check us into our room at 8AM, something none of us had experienced at any other hotel before! There were complimentary fruits and bottled water, as ...

Went there with a group of friends. This lodge is an hour away from Sapa Town and Sapa Town is an hour away from Lao Cai Train station. The journey to the lodge is too far but the view is really magnificent. The lodge provides free shuttle to and fro Sapa town, but only at limited timings. My only feedback is that the shuttle service is rather limited, and the food t...

I've never seen such a friendly stuff before! smiling all the time, asking how are you doing, what are you up to. yummy breakfast (buffet). very beautiful and absolutely clean beds/rooms/bathrooms. nice view over sapa. best hotel I've been to in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Lao and Vietnam!

Pros: view is amazing! great staff and service. We arrived early and Anna Nguyen allowed us to check in several hours early. Staff also helped us navigate Sapa and helped book our car back to the night train. Cons: amazing view means the hotel is high up. Prepare for a steep climb if you walk. Better to take Grab(aka uber/lyft)

Price were slightly expensive compared to other hotels but the view was worth it and breath-taking! Our room overlooked the mountain. Staffs were pleasant and helpful. Helped us to book a transport to go around Sapa and also for our shuttle back to Lao Cai station. Breakfast was okay. We checked out early as we had an afternoon tour and when we came back we were able t...

My family (two young toddlers and my wife) and I spent two nights at Amazing Hotel in Sapa on 21st and 22nd of Sept 2018. I can only warmly recommend this hotel. Stayed here for 2 days. Can checked in early 4am in the morning. The staff here especially the receptionist is the gem of this hotel. really helpful & can speak good English. Forgot to ask the name, but he helped us to arrange a comfort private car (nissan xtrail) for 4 of us from the hotel to Bac Ha Market - Castle - Lao Cai Train Station.

Had an amazing time at Freesia! The staff was friendly and over the top helpful. The rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. We were traveling with 2 three year old and the staff was very accommodating. We arrived early from the train in Lao Cai and they did everything they could to get us in a room early (in the room by 9:15 am). Great at arranging tours and...

This hotel is located in center of Sapa, close to Sapa express bus stop. I stayed at Sapa Centre Hotel 4 people in 1 room, The breakfast was great and the room is big, clean and comfortable. Other than this, we book the Sapa one day trip from hotel, the trip was very memorable. Receptionist also can arrange a transportation to Lao Cai train station for our next day nig...

5-star for the comfort beds. It's very nice, I slept like a log. The breakfast is awesome with local and western choices. Had to mention the view too! It's our best view of terraced fields ever. Room service was smooth and we got everything we need just in time.

Our group was greeted with energy and enthusiasm. Actually spoke excellent English . Help us take our luggage to room, advised us of morning breakfast logistics, wifi and even assisted our journey to train station in Lao Cai. They went above and beyond especially filling our coffee mugs with hot water. They even allowed us to borrow the Vietnamese hats to take our ...

Managed to find a room to fit 2 adults n 2 kids under 8yo. Staffs are very friendly and understands English well especially Mr Sam at the reception! Room n clean n big! Our room is facing the mountains & nice view! Weather is very cooling on the 3rd day when we check out. I will recommend this hotel. Mr Sam had arranged transportation to lao cai train station! First of all, you HAVE to stay here if you are ever in Sapa. The view is magnificent. We did not even venture to the town cause, how could we? With such a wonderful view. I went for a massage at the hotel and i love it! It is definitely one of the best massage i had. The owner is right, 60 mins is definitely not enough. We unfortunately had to change our timing to ...

The Victoria Sapa is a lovely hotel, overlooking the main town plaza. Having "integrated" service with the Victoria Express train and bus service to/from the hotel is certainly convenient (albeit a bit pricey). It's great that the Victoria offers to store your luggage and use the spa showers on your last day (since you will likely have to check out at noon, but wont ...

We reach at the Sapa Relax Hotel at very early morning about 6:45am (after the 8-hrs whole night train journey from Hanoi to Lao Cai & from Lao Cai took again 01 hr. Van to Sapa Town). The Hotel Staff welcome & served us with a warn "Jujube Tea". The outside weather is cold. Although the room we booked was not ready for us to "check-in" at the movement. the nice hotel ...

The hotel has professional service in the way they nicely arranged a room at high floor per our request and sent a confirmation email for our information in advance. The room is exactly the same as the photos with excellent view over the hills. One plus side is the sitting area which is well positioned with a view:) The hotel is clean and all the equipments function we...

I stayed here for one day and left my bags while I did the ha Giang loop in the north. The stay was so good with such a scrumptious buffet breakfast, quite a treat after travelling in hostels where the best breakfast you can expect is a pancake. The mattresses are comfortable and morning view wonderful. I liked the staff very much and stayed here when I got back from t...

Booked 3 deluxe rooms and we stayed on 13th floor. This hotel has great view over the city. What impressed us most is the staff of the hotel who are very friendly and helpful. Overall Muong Thanh Lao Cai is a good value hotel and our stay was comfortable.

Booked from 21st to 24th Jan'19 and absolutely enjoyed the stay at Hotel. Nice and clean room, professional and friendly staff. Gave pretty good advice on saving money and suggesting convonient tours suitable to enjoy with a 3 yr toddler. Located quite well. Booked mountain view room but as weather was all foggy couldnt say how was the view (not a fault of hotel). Only...

We were welcomed by the staff when we arrived and they carried our luggages to the rooms. The room was neat and tidy with a beautiful scent. The bathroom is very pretty and the place is very peaceful. The view from our balcony was so breathtaking, overlooking the rice terrace and mountains like a painting. You can get beautiful sunrise view in between the mountains fro...
Cheap places to stay in Lao Cai

Such a great experience. I highly recommend this place. I stayed 4 nights as solo female traveller. Was warmly welcomed, fed better then I have been for a long time and had a overall fantastic experience. Can't rate high enough. Get there: Took the train from Hanoi to Lao Cai (approx $40), took bus from Lao Cai to Bac Ha ($3), then I called the number on the booking a...

Stunning homestay is located in the village, about 10 kilometers from the Sapa city centre. We were walking there for about 4 hours with many stops to take a photo. It was beautiful beginning of our stay in the mountains. The family is super friendly, welcoming and helpful. They offer very good food and drinks at reasonable prices. During the rain time, you can play ta...

I can't say enough how much I enjoyed my stay here. Thanh and his family really care about their guests and do their best to make sure everyone I comfortable. DONT MISS FAMILY dinner, it is still the best meal I've had in all of Vietnam. Very reasonable pricing. We arrived around 630 am, were greeted with hot tea and breakfast and able to check in by 730 or 8 am. Yo...

This hotel was in a good location (as SaPa is quite small anyway). The view from our balcony was amazing however the room itself wasn’t that great. It got extremely hot at night time and with no fan or air con this made sleeping uncomfortable. Every time we flushed the toilet all the water would spill out the basin at the back and wet the whole bathroom floor which obv...

A more detailed description of how to get to the hotel from Lai Cai using public transportation would be helpful (tip: last bus stop on bus numbers 1 or 2!). The room we stayed in was quite dingy, contrasting to the fresh appearance in photos. Rooms are cheaper there than booking online. There was some confusion over the pick-up to take us to an overnight bus for Ha...

It took me almost a week to get down on this review and the feeling is still the same. I didn't expect much on a 1-star hotel but it went beyond my expectation. Everything is so cozy, the room is clean, the staffs are friendly, the facilities are good, and yeah folks, they DO have hot water ! I met most amazing human beings from all over the world and gained the best ...

We absolutely loved our time with Cuong and his family. Great value for money and you really get to experience family life in TaVan. Cuong was a great trekking guide. Would also recommend eating with the family for dinner as they will teach you how they cook as well!

The homestay lies directly at a river and very close to a waterfall, which is great for hiking. We only stayed two nights but wished to stay longer. We were five backpackers and the host, flower, was very nice and friendly. Her daughter was fun as well but to be honest the best thing were the 4 puppies of her two dogs. The food was also tasty, especially the breakfast ...

I booked a room with mountain view and the view is very nice. Even if I would go to a coffee shop nearby for similar view, it costs me about 4 dollar. For now, I paid to this hotel only 15usd, I got nice room with nice view and breakfast. The location of this hotel is very convenient to any place; Cat Cat Village, train station, restaurants, mall, a square (my baby dri...

Did not regret our choice here! Booked a night here after a Sapa trek with a fellow traveller friend. Bathroom is comparable to a 3 star hotel room with its own glass Shower doors. Water Heaters and room heaters were available! The staffs who are actually a small family are very warm, very welcoming and though they don't speak much English, they try to help as much ...

The owner speaks fluent French and english. I came at 6 am to the hotel and there he was greeted me, offered welcome drink, a clean towel, and told me to take shower first before checking in at 11 am. He also allowed me to put my bag first at the reception, because I got to go to fansipan straight away. His wife took me to the market for shopping and their daughter is ...

The location is amazing! It is quite far from the center of Sapa like 15/20 min walk up the hill, but we did not like Sapa Town, So for us this was fine. It is almost the last hostel down from the town And because of this it was quiet And peacefull with really the best amazing view you can have on the Sapa Valley 😍 the rooms are perfect very soft matrasses with heatin...

its a new place. The bed is softer then many other places have. the staff/family is very very welcoming. The location is 1 km away from the market so you can easily walk there. if you stay there. Join them on the familydinner. A lot of delicious food is served. Shower is good. I can recommend this place. One of the better I've been too.

The staff are friendly and helpful. They always replied to my emails promptly. It's great value for money; especially as so many other hotels overcharge in Sapa. Our room was basic but comfortable and we had an amazing view of the mountains from our little private balcony. The bed wasn't uncomfortable, but wasn't the softest mattress we've slept on either. We had hot...

Booked for one night, ended up staying for 3. Dorms are spotless, comfy matress, piping hot water, good breakfast. Close to shops and restaurants. Staff were amazing, very friendly and helpful. I lost my phone while I was out exploring and there could not have been more helpful.

the huts were nice and felt exclusive but the cleanliness can improve. there were blobs of hair in the toilet which was not cleaned out and the bed sheets had stains and foul smell. we ordered dinner but it was basic and expensive. the included breakfast was also disappointing with a rock hard toast and a simple egg.

We were a little disappointed in this homestay. While we completely understand that it is not a hotel and that it would be simple, the kitchen, bathrooms, and our room could have been cleaner. There were dead bugs and old gum on our floor. While two of the women were so kind and welcoming, a couple of other women seemed annoyed we were there. Lastly, this is far more e...

Zizi is so kind and welcoming. I had an amazing time here and was lucky to go to a wedding in the village where the locals gave us food and drink. This wouldn't have happened if I stayed in Sapa town. Have the family meal if you stay here- it was the best food I had in Vietnam. Highly recommend this homestay.

The hotel on top of the rooms is amazing. Also has a rooftop patio to overlook Sapa. The staff was sooooo friendly, if anything I would recommend that hotel. Or if you can't afford that at least you get the best of both worlds. The hotel is Sapa Dragon. Did I mention how great the staff were ❤️ We were on a first name basis the whole time

We arrived Sapa early morning around 6.00 am by sleeping bus. Then we want put our luggage at Hostel before go to Fansipan and cat cat Village. The host was very understanding, he asked us to put our luggage at his room and asked us to shower 1st because the room we booked still no ready to check in. He also very helpful in helping us book a trek around the villages, ...

Value for money: Very affordable Location: In the middle of the town, and 5min walk to the main road to hiking trek. Cleanliness: Rooms and bathrooms are clean Staff: friendly and helpful, and speak good english Facilities: Has everything as stated, WiFi speed is good.

try and get a room with a view at this hotel as the landscape is stunning. keep in mind that sapa is often foggy. when we arrived late in the afternoon visibility was zero as was the next morning, but our disappointment vanished at around 10am when the fog cleared to reveal the spectacular view. the location was ideal, being a short walk to the main street of town but ...

Pros : The location was great, right at where all the shops were at so it's very convenient especially for us who only has only 2D1N to spend at Sapa. Hotel staff were friendly and thoughtful as they arranged for early check in for us at 8am at no extra cost. We booked 2 rooms but there was some miscommunication among the staff between the shifts and we did not get roo...

very nice helpfull staff in thsi great hotel. situated in a non-descript street, the hotel itself is really good; clean rooms, feels all very safe. the breakfast was sumptuous, i gather they do this to please chinese businiessman who lodge in lao cai frequently. breakfast of the year winner for me!

Caution: the thing the owners call „a room“ is in fact a dorm shelter with curtains. We didn‘t get the room we booked - in the booking confirmation there has been obviously doubleroom, we got a matrace in a dorm for the same price instead! Wtf! The dorm has a 20 cm gap between the walls and the roof + no heating anywhere = a very freezing place.

I really enjoyed my stay here! I didn't realize it wasn't in Sapa when I booked, but I was grateful for the remote setting in the end (not really that hard to get too, but takes about an hour to arrive at from Sapa where the bus will drop you). Sapa isn't such a pretty city anyway and I wouldn't have wanted to stay there anyways. The staff were wonderful and friendl...
