Where to stay in Marlborough Region
Marlborough Region hotels & accommodations

thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the mercure picton. good standard of accommodation with good facilities, as per most mercure hotels. we enjoyed a room with a balcony and view of the harbour area, definitely worth the few dollars extra here. just a few minutes to walk to shops and a good variety of eating places, as well as the wharf and companies for bookings for sights...

This resort is in a beautiful location, the rooms are well spaced out and have nice views of the bay. There is a pool and a spa. The restaurant has amazing views and very good food. The staff here were very helpful. There is an excellent flat spot in front of the beach with grass, games and loungers. Maybe a tad overpriced, but it is an amazing resort.

We loved our stay at Chateau Marlborough. I'd booked 3 rooms for 6 adults three months prior to arrival and was a bit surprised when we arrived with the confirmation paperwork in hand to find that they had mis-scheduled us for the next night. The woman at the desk was a bit flustered by it all - understandably - but was able to find us rooms that, lucky for us, exceede...

Highlight of Blenheim!! Blenheim is a very spread out place & we found ourselves there, because friends invited us to join them on a New Zealand holiday & had pre arranged the itineary, although they stayed in different places. My issue with Blenheim is distance between restaurants & other places of interest. You either dont drink & drive or pay an absolute arm & a leg...

The host is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is based in a stunning location (quite tricky to get to though). We absolutely recommend this beautiful place to others, especially couples or families. The simple shop has the basics such as fresh bread, butter, spreads, milk, and basic groceries but I recommend you bring some extra food with you to cook a nice meal. Th...

Lovingly renovated convent in the middle of a vineyard, in the middle of the Marlborough wine region (think Napa Valley with 1/20th the tourists). Rooms/facilities/grounds are first-class, in tip-top condition. Staff are excellent. Food is top notch. Hard to find fault in anything. However, nearby vineyard had 3 air canons firing every ~15 minutes to scare birds ...

This was the best hostel we stopped in throughout our hole trip through Australia and NZ. The couple that run Tombstone are really helpful and friendly (Even gave us a lift down to train station). The hostel is next to the bluebridge ferry terminal which is great when your carrying a heavy bag. Our room was really clean, comfortable bed and had iys own friendly cat! Br...

We happened to be the only guests at the time, but they still went out of their way to offer us everything we could want or need. We walked down from the Queen Charlotte Track and then back up again and would not advise the descent in wet weather. Even in dry weather it would not be easy. We are experiences trekkers and found it difficult.

We had a wonderful stay at the Portage Hotel. We were walking the Queen Charlotte track and the hotel was a close walk from the track. The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beautiful and clean with a great view overlooking the bay. We had dinner there and that was excellent and very good value. I highly recommend this hotel!

First time stayers, and we were thoroughly delighted with the staff and accommodation at Vintners Retreat. The villa was spotlessly clean, warm and cozy, well furnished with modern amenities.... like a home away from home. We loved the place and the warm hospitality of management staff. We highly recommend Vintners Retreat for a weekend getaway, or an extended vacatio...

stay in a little villa, each one has three bedrooms, ita own living room and kitchen.. and the communal area has a hot tub, tv room and beautiful garden. its kitch and cool and has an absolutely beautiful sense of home about it. The staff are amazing and place is insanely clean (except when backpackers ruin it). Rooms are spacious and they offer tours. we've been trav...

I would highly recommend this hotel. Thoughtful extras throughout the room. We only anticipated 1 night here in Picton but enjoy it so much we made it a 4 night visit, staying here at Beachcomber all 4 evenings. Booking on Agoda.com saved us $$ rather than booking directly through hotel

The Gables is very centrally located, close to the waters and the main shopping district, with comfortable and homey space (we stayed at the cottages). The host, Warren is fantastic, helpful and very kind. They have also just started a wonderful hop on hop off bus tour among the marlborough vineyards which is the best way to visit the NZ wineries. Finally, they surpris...

Stayed one night at Lugano after a wine tour in Blenheim. Hosts were wonderful and such lovely people. Room was perfect, had all the amenities including a kettle, fridge and even a microwave if needed - like a mini kitchen. Great night sleep and will stay again if visit Blenheim.

Sequoia lodge backpacker is literally the best hostel I've visited traveling though new Zeland. From the moment you pass the door you already are at home with warm home made soup and chocolate pudding (I wish I could have try it !), the place a tidy and cosy, there's a lot of facilities and the staff is truly kind and make everything to make your stay as nice as possib...

Handy location in the main street with a short stroll down to the foreshore & restaurants. We had great fun there with our 3 year old - paddling in the water & watching the boats, riding the mini train (NZ 20c each!) & merry go round, the brilliant Aquarium (that includes Tuatara reptiles) was a hit and checking out the amazing history of the Edwin Fox (the world's ol...

Overall stay at top10 was 5 in scale of 10. Location, Cleanliness and facilities were good. Kitchen wasn't having any utensils like plates, glass, no kitchen paper roll. Staff wasn't polite and stubborn in talking. It had parking issues ie no specific marking for private car and caravans at all times and what if someone else would park at your place. And firstly staf...

Very good hotel centrally located for exploring the area, large spacious modern room with air-conditioning (quite rare in New Zealand)great kitchen amenities for self catering. It has a very good pub restaurant attached serving very good affordable food, staff very friendly. Ideal location for visiting the vineyards in the area.

We had a wonderful stay at Quality Hotel Marlborough. The location is near town centre and parks. It was easy for us to cycle around. However, do note that there is no fridge in the room so don't buy back white wine/beer or ham/milk thinking that you can have it the next day. Everything else was good. The staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Highly recommended with all needs and details thought through. Very comfortable bed - best night's sleep for ages! - and everything good quality. Friendly and welcoming, great breakfast and with areas to relax inside and out overlooking nice garden area.

Large room, wonderful outside area, all the things you could need in the room. Great location! A lovely walk into the town, the beautiful park just around the corner. Di is a wonderful host. We forgot something in the room and Di was so kind to courier it to us at our next location. She went out of her way to to help us. So with a great room, location and staff we hi...

Bit tricky to find even with a satnav and first impression was a motel in an industrial, area. However, the view from the room was as tranquil as the photos suggest as was our stay. The bar next door is owned by the same people and will do breakfast on request. Quiet at night. Two minute walk to the centre of Blenheim and the iSite is just as close.

Janet collected us from the ferry and showed us to our rooms which were lovely and super comfy. Home made cake and shortbread awaited us with tea/coffee making facilities. Lots of info given about where to go, activities and best places to eat in Picton which was handy. Invited up stairs for a glass of beautiful local wine before we headed off for tea. Everything is in...
Cheap places to stay in Marlborough Region

We arrived to be met by the friendly and helpful owner. Our family room was clean and well kitted with what we needed for our 1 night stay. The shared bathroom facilities was right across our bedroom door and there were ample facilities that even at full occupancy there was no waiting period to use the clean facilities. We were treated to a nice surprise with a he...

Well it's not a hotel thou. It's a Holiday Park (I dont know if this term of Holiday Park is familiar, but I use it all the time to describe this such accomodation). I got the lodge (double bunk bed). The bathroom was shared with $1 hot water for 5 minutes ($1 coin only) but it was really clean and bright. They also have laundry room, full function kitchen, and very sp...

Very good. Though we arrived past 10pm due to a delay by the ferry service, the host, Barbara was waiting patiently for our arrival and even upgraded us to a unit by itself to save us the trouble of moving around. So we were able to settle and rest for the night. Host also provided good tips on the attractions location which made our drive even more convenient. Very th...

Overall this was a pleasant experience. We arrive after reception closed, so they put a sign with our name on the door which we found easily and quickly got settled into. The chalets don't have AC so it was VERY humid, but we did have a fan and we kept it running throughout the night. The sheets and bedding were clean and the beds were adequate. The bathrooms were clos...

The owners only took over the motel in Sep 17 so I think the rooms have just been recently renovated. I love the small touches they have put into the decor of the room. While the room we booked was small, it was very cosy and comfortable. Location is very good as well with many food places and shops on the same street. Though, note that while there is a microwave and u...

My ten year old daughter and I loved our stay so much we can't wait to return. I've stayed in so many places all over the world and this is one of my favourites. I rate it 10/10. Beautiful room and view, spotlessly clean, extremely helpful and kind owner, everything about our stay was perfect. Thanks a million :-)

Breakfast is included in the price although the Agoda booking said it is not. Simple continental fare but more than sufficient. Bed was comfortable but room was rather small though it was tastefully decorated. The wifi service was fast and stable. Overall, it was still an enjoyable experience staying two nights at this place. Hotel is located quite close to the Interis...

The owners are hardworking conscientious people and make sure that the accommodation is spotless and in the best condition possible. That being said the building is approaching 100 years old and in need of some serious upgrades. The floor joists in the ceiling above me creaked all night due to any movement of the hotel guest above me. Similarly the walls between room ha...

Lochmara lodge is an amazing go-to spot for any type of traveler. staying here gives you free entry to the wildlife recovery and arts centre. you could go hiking up to the top with amazing views of the sounds. spend the day exploring the nature walks, feed some animals including the special kakarikis that they are breeding at their wildlife recovery centre for the depa...

Fanastic, 5 star service, Shona & Peter very friendly & helpful going that extra bit to make your stay enjoyable. Room & facilities could not fault, location great. Allocated onsite parking a great idea. We will be staying here again on our next trip to Blenheim.

We stayed over Sennen House for Xmas and had a great time. We were greeted by lovely couple and head for Xmas diner. Bed was very comfortable and room was very nice. You can have your breakfast in your room in the morning which was very nice. Would highly recommend the place.

I have stayed at the Asure Sundowner Motel several times now and all experiences have been very positive. The location is great and having a supermarket straight across the street is a huge bonus. On one of my stays we left a hotwater bottle in the bed and after weeks of trying to find it at home I suddenly realized that we could have left it at the Sundowner. I ran...

Super area for a few days of routine life. Cons: No vodafone network and no nearby shop though. Highly recommend booking a car or any suitable transportation means in advance. The nearest restaurant/cafe is about 8 to 9 km off so make provision for food. Pros: staff super helpful and really nice They help plan any trip/tour or buke rentals Really quiet place if you l...

Our stay at the Riverstone Lodge was a rarity in travel: both very pleasant and a great value – including the most restful and pleasant sleep we have had in years, in complete peace and quiet (yet a convenient short drive to town), with beautiful, natural surroundings (fruit trees, green lawns, the room and bathroom were modern, comfortably luxurious and well appointed...

Olde Mill House is such a welcoming place and you're made to feel right at home. The room was clean and spacious and included lovely little touches like chocolates for guests. The breakfast was varied and great quality, especially the homemade jams and preserves. It's a great base for exploring Marlborough.

We arrived late on the ferry from Wellington. The apartment was further from the town than I had expected but the apartment was spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. We booked a 2 bed apartment but were given a 3 bedroom apartment. 1 double, 1 twin and a room with bunk beds. The lack of a second double room was a little disappointing.

We felt so welcomed and comfortable here. We regret being a little 'rushed' passing through the region and not lingering around longer and taking our time and staying more nights than we did. The cottage was spotlessly clean - as a couple from Australia we found it charming that the host would get quite distressed that a small insect might have the rudeness to die on ...
