Miyazaki Prefecture hotels & places to stay

The hotel was excellent in all aspects. The outlook of the hotel was modern. Staff were highly friendly and helpful. It was highly appreciated that the staff took good care of the fruits when we asked for luggage storage. They helped us to put into the fridge to keep them fresh. Onsen opened from 3pm-10am was enjoyable. Free ramen with good taste was served from 930pm-11pm every night. Although it is far away from JR Miyazaki station, it was easy to reach by bus. Bus schedule was frequent. The hotel was located in the heart of Miyazaki surrounded with many restaurants and department stores. Highly recommended.

Would definitely recommend to travellers coming to Takachiho. Hotel is new, only opened early this year. Stylish minimalist interior, spacious room. Good location, about 8min walk from bus station, less than 5 min from the famous shrine. Recommend the beef place within 5 min walk from hotel. It was weekend when I visited, so if you wish to have meal in the hotel, make sure you book in advance as we were told that both dinner and breakfast were fully booked. Would be perfect if the hotel provides the fabric deodorant spray which most Japanese hotels would usually provide. It’s very handy especially after a bbq.

This hotel was definitely great value for money. The room was larger with a bigger than average bathroom than most typical japanese hotels for similar value. Facilities are all new. I stayed in a 12th floor, true non-smoking room. The facilities and bed were all comfortable to sleep on. As Miyazaki is country side, it is expected that it may be a little difficult to get around. Having the hotel attached to the train, bus and taxi rank made it much easier to travel if you do not wish to walk. There are also heaps of places nearby for food and gifts. Staff are extremely friendly and are able to confidently speak in English. I will use this Hotel again when I visit Miyazaki in future.

I’d been on the road round Japan for a 2.5 weeks before I arrived here, and it was the perfect spot to relax. The hotel is really comfortable and we were upgraded to a top floor deluxe room. There’s a nice stretch of beach in front of the hotel and our view was great, during both rain and shine (it was October) The staff were very helpful and opened the gym for me three times even though it was supposedly closed for the season (no idea why). The communal baths were very nice although there wasn’t an outdoor tub. The breakfast was a festival of slimy Japanese food horror, and not worth the money (you could get cooked egg and bread admittedly). Far better for food, dinner in this case, was the Chinese restaurant on the ground floor. The snack stands on the beach were better for lunch, along with Bon Delice and the burger and Mexican trucks nearby. A beach holiday is never going to feel totally right for me in Japan, owing to the expense and the lack of the chilled vibe you get in Thailand or India, but my stay in Miyazaki nevertheless hit the spot.

Our trip around both covered a lot of ground and lasted for five weeks, so that meant being on a bit of a backpacker budget as far as food and accommodations went. However, we were able to get a great deal on this hotel through Agoda and we were able to spend the night in luxury for not too far over of our budget. The view from the room alone is worth the price, but the rooms are also gorgeous, clean and very comfortable. My only regret is not taking advantage of the outdoor bath, but we equally enjoyed our balcony. Nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to a beautiful ocean view.

The hotel was very modern and airy which is unusual for a Japanese hotel. It is just up the valley from Takachiho Gorge (about 15-20mins walk away, or 2 mins drive) and it seemed like it was the closest hotel to the gorge. The room itself was huge by Japanese standards and the tatami floor beds were comfortable. There is also plenty of free parking on site. Please note that Takachiho is very quiet and there are almost no restaurants open at night other than Joyfull restaurant. Highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Takachiho Gorge (which is well worth the trip).

we had an excellent time in miyazaki staying at hotel areaone. the front desk was very helpful in giving directions and maps for locations in miyazaki. in particular, one front desk manager, aya taniguchi was extremely helpful, spoke good english and as a local miyazaki resident knew how to find anything/anyplace in town. she went out of her way to help my wife and i. we highly recommend the hotel and breakfast (it's worth it).

I stayed here after staying two nights in Miyazaki for one night. This hotel is very closely located near Aoshima shrine (jinja) and it only takes few minutes to walk on the beach. Bus station isn't so far away, only about 5min walk, so we went to Sun Messe Nichinan and also Obi during our stay here. I stayed in the sea side view room, which was amazing to look at but you can't see anything out in the dark. There aren't many stores around here and shops close pretty early, except some restaurants and izakaya. Staffs were very nice, they followed us to the room when we checked in to greet us and show how the Japanese traditional ryokan style hotel works. The building is bit old, to be honest and the spa isn't very high end but it was alright. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here. I definitely recommend !

We stayed at 2 APA hotels for our 14 week trip and this one was slightly more spacious than the other APA hotel. As with all APA hotels, all basic amenities such as bathrobes, toiletries, hair tie, cotton buds, bath sponges, were provided and topped up daily. Location was fantastic - 2 minute walk from the bus station (which has the bus to Takachiho) and the train station (which has trains from Kagoshima (where we came from) and to Beppu (where we were headed to)). There is also a popular Chicken Nanban store located near the hotel (about 5 minutes walk), a huge supermarket and a convenience store nearby. We would highly recommend this hotel for your stop in Nobeoka.

The location is really good for visit of trai station, shrines and supermarket nearby- walking distance. The bed and pillow are comfortable There is a balcony Bathroom is split- Bathroom and Toilet and washing area, separately - save time. Great wifi coverage till carpark Breakfast is not too bad, can be better. Use own bathroom is enough- not necessary to use their public bath area. (Dun think it is onsen water) The hotel is sort of empty and cold when we visited in Feb. Dinner place is few and a distance away. But the one outside the hotel along the street has a very friendly and cheerful chef who really likes Singaporean. There is an Tourist information office opp the car park.

My husband and I arrived at Kamigakure during Typhoon Trami. Takachiho was on the outer edge of the typhoon so the weather was bad but at least not dangerous. As we drove into the car park the staff appeared with umbrellas and a trolley for our luggage. We had a traditional Japanese style room that was enormous, the bathroom was divided in 2 with a separated bathing area with a large Japanese style soaking bath as well as a shower which over looked our private garden. Due to the weather everyone else had cancelled so instead of serving dinner in the dining room which we expected and were requested to attend at 6.30, the staff set up a small private dining room for us. The room over looked a garden and was beautifully decorated. The owner served us dinner and explained each course, all 11. We also had breakfast in the small dining room all 8 courses. The whole place is beautiful. All staff speak English, are friendly, welcoming and make you feel special.

We stayed at shinsan for one night and was deeply impressed by the excellent service and hospitality of the staff there. They picked us up at the Takachiho bus station and also drove me to the Takachiho train station on the next day. The dinner and breakfast were delicious in a Japanese style private dining room. The price was in line with the superb service and experience which you can enjoy in the hotel.

We actually stayed at the Miyazaki location because I thought that is where I made the reservation. We arrived late at night by train from Sasebo through Kagoshima @ 11 p.m. We didn't know that he Nobeoka hotel was an hour away by taxi, and we were exhausted. The wonderful night manager allowed us to transfer the reservation, and gave us the exact same room on the top floor with a great view of the city. The room was very comfortable, except that the beds were a bit too hard for us. The staff was helpful and a few spoke English, which helped a lot. We do recommend this hotel when in Miyazaki.
