Nghe An Province hotels & places to stay

We were travelling as a group where two of us would take the train and one were driving a motorbike so we needed an overnight stay in between Phong Nha and Ninh Bình. This place is walking distance to the train station (800-900 meters), rooms were immaculate with A/C and cable tv and staff were nice. It’s super good value! Oh and there’s an elevator! Be aware if you arrive at night everything is closed nearby so it can be a challenge to find food. Eat before you arrive :)

Most taxis don't, but it's easy from train and bus station. Train station: take bus n° 6 to crossing main road (Thang Long) and there on the opposite side (outbound) busses 4 or 5 (15k). You'll pass the bus station on the left side, take the stop directly after the KAMAZ dealer and walk outbound or the next and walk back. Bus station: get out of the station and go to the bus stop, where you take bus 4 or 5 outbound (should be 10k) and see above. From the hotel to the left there is a village where you'll get everything you need, if you don't, you're in the wrong country anyway.

We were greeted as soon as we arrived with a big smile and warm welcome. We were offered to sit down and have a cold drink and some free fruit. We were taken to our room when we were ready and shown how everything works. Our host offered dinner so we came down to the main area at 19:30 and there was beautifully presented food on the table. We were offered beer and several shots of their homemade rice wine! Our host was so friendly and chatty and his kind mum cooked delicious pork and chicken for us. They didn’t charge us for any water. It was a very loving and warm stay here and we thoroughly recommend!

The incredibly nice and helpful staff helped us with a taxi driver who tried to charge us way too much when he dropped us off. It was late when we arrived and the man drove us free of charge to the only open restaurant. He then waited there for us to order and eat before driving us back to the hotel. (He even told us he would pay for the meal and we could just pay him back at the hotel) Both girls at the front desk were also very helpful and very sweet. The rooms and bathroom were spacious, well-kept, and clean (although the beds were very hard). The AC and Wifi worked well. There was also a desk, large dresser, and TV with cable. I would stay here again.

Stayed 2 nights in a “superior twin” room. The room was modern and clean with a fridge and kettle (but bring your own tea and cup) and a nice view of the city. There was no safe box, but valuables can be stored in the safe at reception. Bath was a wet room, very small but clean. Wifi could definitely have been better. All staff were professional and kind. The included breakfast was ok for a free bite, but overall uninspiring. The egg station was good though. I ate dinner at the restaurant one night and the food was ok but they were out of my first 2 choices (out of pho?). I think the restaurant is used mostly for breakfast and lunch. Hotel is located on a major street, but surprisingly there are very few restaurants within walking distance. Just a few small noodle shops. Better if you have a car. In summary a good value hotel with excellent staff and clean rooms.

the room was really big an consisted of a bedroom and living room. everything was clean. the staff was friendly; however, there were definitely language barriers. the tv had many channels to choose from and the wifi was good. the biggest downside was the club that played very loud music from 8pm to midnight, which appears to be pretty much everyday of the week. also the breakfast was very strange. it is a pretty big hotel and we were the only ones at breakfast. there was pretty much nothing prepared and had to go someone to make the eggs and toast for us.

I stayed one night at this hotel before catching a flight the next day. I had hoped the staff would speak English to help me organise getting to the airport but it was easy enough to arrange without. It's abig hotel that feels clean and well kept. It's near enough to the airport (30 mins) not sure about its distance to town as was dropped off by my bus driver, but it didn't look like there was much to do in Vinh anyway!

The girl at the reception was extremely nice and helpful with a very good English. The rooms were nice and clean (I had to change a few: first one had a broken window and a broken tube on the sink, in the second one the A/C wasn't working - finally they gave me one that was ok). I would have stayed longer as I had several days off, but the Karaoke until late at night and the builders from 6am were not what I expect from a nice and modern hotel.

After a long motorbike ride, we showed up to Vinh with nowhere booked to stay. We popped into this place and they said they were fully booked. We were looking on Agoda for places near by available and saw rooms here so just booked them and went back into this hotel. After a little bit of them looking on the computer, they upgraded us to suite rooms! The bed was so comfy! The suite also had this incredible shower and bathtub that also turns into a sauna. For breakfast they have a buffet with our favorites, fruit pho, fresh eggs and more! As backpackers, this place was a nice luxury escape :)

I loved the hotel. Super clean and the receptionist was very friendly and spoke great english. This hotel has honestly earned its 3 stars, very luxurious and high-class! Tubs in bathrooms, outdoor swimming pool, mall and small shops right next to the hotel. Loved every single detail and the breakfast was brilliant. I can't eat typical vietnamese breakfast but they had a large variety of asian and western food, fruit, toast, rolls, cake and much more. And all that for the Agoda price of 19.50$ - WHAT?!

This hotel is correct on the Agoda map but the address is wrong.It was very close to the train station and was the best price when we booked on line.The room is comfortable and a buffet breakfast although most of it is suited to Vietnamese taste.This hotel is geared for functions etc. We arrived mid evening and could only find a street style pho cafe for something to eat that was in easy walking distance.This was OK as we were just here for one night to break the journey.

Vinh doesn't have much to offer as far as tourist attractions, but it's a good stop-over city if you're touring the country by train. This hotel is a very good value for the money, and is located on a main road. It doesn't have many good restaurants or shops within walking distance, but that's ok because there are always taxis parked outside that can take you wherever you want to go if you show them your desired destination on a map. Most of the staff know some English. I would stay here again.

This is our second stay at the Phuong Dong Hotel, the last visit was 8 months ago. The staff remembered us from our lastg and gave us the same great treatment as before. The room we stayed in had great view of central highway though the town, we had a large sized room, with all the necessary amenities. The restaurant adjacent to the hotel, is excellent, breakfast buffet has a good selection of items, but don't wait till the last minute as you will miss out. Hotel remains clean and had excellent Christmas decorations and atmosphere for this festive time of year,great addition for the children. I like this hotel, I am sure its the best hotel in town, and if not, the staff make it the best one in town. They speak great English which is such an added bonus considering most other people in this general area, do not have the language skills of people in big cities like Hanoi and HCMC. and the bellboys and staff make sure your taxi driver knows where you want them to go and translate for you happily.

We booked 2 rooms there and one was moldy on the wall outside the bathroom. When checking out they found one shoehorn in my kid's room was missing they then found it in my mon's room. They then told me the shoehorn in my room is missing even though I saw it there before we left and we did not wear shoes because of the trip was informal. We paid compensation in the interest of time but the hotel staff did not give us any receipt for that. We waited for 10 minutes to get back an item that was found in my room but the hotel could not give it back in time and we had to leave otherwise we would miss our train. They offer to send it back by post later. The hotel is a big old and the facilities tend to be overused.

The staff looked like they can’t be bothered to talk to us when we were checking in. My partner was hacking us out and said the same lady was much nicer during check out. Breakfast is pretty good, a lot of options and there’s an egg chef to whip your molet or fry the egg. Location itself is not very interesting. Nothing around and hard to find some food. We had banh cuon and a coffe literally opposite the hotel and it was great. I guess it’s a good place to stay overnight if you have to catch a train/a bus the next day.
