My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Lotte Arai Resort and telling our friends that it is the BEST resort we've ever stayed for a memorable skiing, osen and winter experience in Japan. Slopes are perfect for the very beginners (Pony 400m) to practice and the mid-beginners like me (Myoko Long Run 2,300m + Roppongi Road 1,100m + Village Road 2,100m). Despite the limited number of service staff manning the various outlets and facilities, the staff are enthusiastic to serve and please the guests. The fresh bakery/cafe is perfect for quick and light breakfast, and the staff there were most helpful to ensure a delicious hot meal. The Korean restaurant is popular providing better quality food and value when compared to the Italian which is good but pricy. It would be perfect if there's a high end/signature sushi/sashimi for guests like us who prefer not to dine in buffet style restaurants (Japanese and All DayDining). We will definitely be back before it gets over-crowded.

Our large room offers the most wonderful view of Yuzawa's snow capped mountains that we wished we could have stayed longer and wake up with that scene on our window every morning. Just a few steps from the JR Echigo Yuzawa Station. Staff at the front desk was very accommodating; and the hotel had a great onsen facility. We really enjoyed our stay! If we ever go back to Niigata one day, we will surely stay at Yuzawa Grand Hotel.

We upgraded the Japanese style room we booked through Agoda and stayed in the ryokan's Sara suite. It was a perfect getaway for 2! The staff was very friendly, and the ryokan's GM, Tomoko, explained everything we need to know and even gave tidbits about Japanese culture--how to use the onsen, how to wear the yukata provided, and how to drink matcha. The suite had everything we needed, it had its own private onsen and a massage chair, which were perfect after a day of skiing at Gala Yuzawa snow resort. The Japanese style beds were very comfortable, and the whole ambience of the suite was very relaxing and peaceful. And the highlight of our stay was the Japanese kaiseki dinner that we booked, and the Japanese breakfast that was included in the package--very delicious and it completed our ryokan experience.

Home away from home: The hotel owner and his wife are more like friends than business owner. Always Try their best to help out. On my last day, I went to the skii field, and the owner let me use the shower room before I head off again. The room- superb! Very clean, cozy and spacious, and value for money. The service- as said before, they are so friendly, and helpful. The owner can speak fluent Chinese. Even before I found this out. He tried to communicate with me in English and provide as much help as possible to find me a snowboarding instructor, give skii field suggestions and even try to get me lined up with other solo travellers after I told him that I was worried about going to the skii field on my own after 10 years not touching my snowboard:) The food- can’t ask for more! So fresh and I would it’s a lot better than some of the five star hotel standards. The savoury egg pudding for brekkie is to kill for! The location: 5 mins walk to EchigoYuzawa JR station, one turn would take you to the hotel. There are plenty of nice restaurants around. So easy. The hotel is very conveniently located within 2-3 minute walk of Takada Station. There's also a convenience store across the road. Rooms are decent with easy access to wifi. You have a t.v. and fridge along with a kettle. Not a bad hotel but with not much happening in Takada unless it's Sakura time, I'm surprised hotels in the area are more expensive than those in Niigata city.

I have stayed here before as it is just opposite Niigata train station. It is a step up from the usual business hotel and very good value for the price. As it was a holiday the next day and I guess nobody wants to stay in Niigata on a holiday, the price was only about 3800 yen per night. I had a flight the next morning and so chose it again, mainly because of the location and price. If you are sightseeing in Niigata it is a bit far from the downtown area, about 20 minutes by foot. However, go to the Media Ship building, about ten minutes by foot for their free viewing room on the 20th floor, which is amazing by night.

We booked this accommodation a few weeks before our trip, and thought the price was reasonable as compared to other resorts around Madarao. At first we were a little bit worried because of some negative reviews. To be fair, here is my review . I wish i can write more. :) Pros: Reasonable priced, Friendly and helpful staff, clean room and very comfortable bed, hot bath and hotel restaurant serve delicious simple Japanese food. Thanks to chef Andrew. :) Cons: Need sound proof walls, more lights along the corridors and to inform all guests Do Not walk around in ski boots outside the rooms. Ultimately, we really enjoyed our stay. We love the early checked in and late check out! We had a great time here... We stayed at Senke over the weekend for a snowboard trip from Tokyo. The hotel is a small family run Japanese pension with traditional tatami rooms and had everything we needed for budget accommodation. The staff were very welcoming and spoke basic English to help us with our requests, It felt like we were guests at their house :) The location is right in the main strip of town, a few minutes walk to akakura onsen ski resort lifts and a few minutes the bus terminal linking you to all other ski resorts such as Sugi, Seki and Lotte. There was a number of restaurants, cafes, convenience stores and bars on the same street. We would definitely stay here again if we visit Myoko.

Our group stayed in a twin and a room with double bed during our 3 night stay in Niigata. The hotel is on top of the convention centre and the rooms have either a great view of the Japan Sea or Niigata City. It's about 20 min walk from JR Niigata station and it was a pleasant walk. If you have luggage, you can take the hotel shuttle bus which is 3 min walk from the station. We took a cab which costs us less than 1000 yen. The hotel is within walking distance of Pier Bandai and there's a stop of the city sightseeing loop bus just in front of the building. room size is large in terms of Japanese hotel and it's light & airy. It also provides Japanese style pajama which are super comfy. Front desk staff is courteous and welcoming and can speak some English. Breakfast buffet spread is decent with a lot of local produce used. this is not your hotel if you want a convenient store located 2 min away. But if you like a nice view and want to enjoy true Japanese hospitality, this is your hotel.

The hotel is connected to the Niigata Train Station so it could not have been more convenient. The staff was very polite and efficient. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is outstanding with offerings of a wide selection of Japanese dishes as well as typical Western fares. We bought a day pass for the Niigata Loop Bus which circled around the city passing all the major attractions. The major shopping areas was about a half hour walk. The side streets are very interesting and made the walk seem very short,

Made the reservation with sale price three days two nights with about 6000 yen was a reasonable deal and comment of my stay is this price is fair enough. Location is fine, not excellent especially considering the hot summer weather and only a few buses each hour Cleansing in the other hand was not very satisfying, a few hairs were found when I first entered my room and also after routine cleansing I could find hairs again. Noticed those were(supposed to be)my hair but I expected a slightly better cleansing service Others are find, staff were kind

I chose this hotel for a 6 day visit with family to see the cherry blossoms. While the hotel is not really set up for longer stays, we found it a very convenient base. We could go on day trips to Kanazawa and Nagano by Shinkansen and were able to easily hire a car at Times Car Rental just a few minutes walk from the station. Takada was just a few minutes away by local train, and there was a convenient shuttle bus at the weekend to take guests in and out to the cherry blossom festival at Takada Park. The rooms were a good size for a Japanese hotel and had the usual travel basics: hairdryer, toiletries, kettle etc. The one thing missing was a place to sit and relax but that’s more to do with space and it being geared towards business travel rather than leisure. Everything was very clean and staff came in every day to change towels or generally tidy up. The staff were very friendly and helpful, finding bus times and printing boarding passes etc. A very pleasant stay - recommend!

We arrived at Ichigo Yuzawa Station mid morning after a red eye flight from Hong Kong and telephoned the hotel, who quickly sent a minibus to pick us up from the railway station and bring us to the hotel. At first it seemed we were too early to check in, but the room became available and was released to us. We quickly changed and the hotel provided a shuttle bus to the nearest ski slopes. We should have rented equipment from the hotel, much cheaper than the Yuzawa Park resort. As we were only on a 3 day trip we stuck with this ski area, but next time I would explore Gala Yazawa and NASPA. The hotel seemed to have bus options to all these places. The six person room we had was comfortably appointed, with Japanes style futon beds, and an efficient heater which meant we could dry wet clothing. The evening meal and breakfasts were excellent, but didn't really suit my western children. Each evening we enjoyed the hot baths. On our last day, we checked out, went off skiing and were still allowed to use the hot baths. A shuttle bus to the station and we were in Tokyo by 8 p.m. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Yuzawa Denkiya. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful, and English was not a problem. Highly recommended.

Stayed in the hotel for four nights. The bed was large enough for couple, unlike most other Japanese business class hotels, and comfortable. Staff has basic english skills so you can manage. Room service was excellent and they keep everything very clean. The only problem is the distance to the Niigata station. If you have your own vehicle then its fine. There are buses to the Niigata station and only 100 m to the bus stop from the hotel. It takes around 20 min to get to the station. Buses are not frequent. Only one bus per hour. If you miss that you have to wait another one hour or so to get the other bus. Other than that our stay was really nice.

Had a very pleasant night here. Even though I was booked into a smoking room I really couldn't tell that it had been smoked in, so they must do a good job of cleaning it. The location of this hotel is a little bit out of the way - definitely take a cab if you arrive at Niigata station as the walk is quite long. There isn't too much to do right in the area of the hotel but within a very short cab ride or a reasonable walk you can be in central Niigata or at Bandai, the main shopping center. Bandai is a nice place for modern shopping. The staff here were very nice and helpful even though their english was limited. The breakfast is absolutely wonderful and well worth the price.

Visited the Yuzawa Onsen during winter in the skiing season. The hotel is located just opposite the station and the bus stop with the shuttle buses to the various ski resorts like GALA Yuzawa, Yuzawa Kogen and Naeba is just in front of the hotel. The room I was given is very spacious and have a view of the station and the surrounding hills and mountains. There are two hot spring baths in the hotel. There is a small hot spring bath on the upper floors separate from the indoor baths which are on another floor. I booked with a half-board plan and both dinner and breakfast were sumptuous and beautifully presented. The rice is a signature of this region and it was really good. If you are not keen on a heavy meal, you could opt for meals at the station which are rather affordable and open till rather late. Overall, I had a enjoyable and comfortable stay at Echigo no Oyado Inamoto.

I went there before ski season begins so it's quiet, just what I was looking for. Not really waking distance but the hotel provides shuttle service during the day so not a problem at all. Very reasonable price compared to what's provided, love to recommend to someone looking for a quiet getaway. I stayed in Japanese style room but they provided a chair for my father who has difficulty with floor seating. Various onsen / bath choices to try so easy to get pass the day. Excellent breakfast and dinner. Interesting souvenir shop with delivery service. But the best goes to the staff, EVERYONE is professional and attentive in the right way (you now how "over" the Japanese can go sometimes...) And I want to say thank you again to the Omiyge san who handled our check-in, Mongolian san and Megane san who helped during dinner, and the Kawaiko chan at the reception.

3 nights experience with dormy inn No WiFi connected but after letting the staff know a router was given us to use in our room 🙌🏻👏🏻. MENS onsen on the entire top floor was impeccable 👍👍👍👍👍as for the LADIES sorry it’s not as good the minus 50% of the standard (facilities & size of the MENs onsen) & it’s on the 2nd floor next to the restaurant. Breakfast buffet choices were ok only tried 1 day out of the 3 nights stay. Felt a bit uneasy with the staff watching when I had my 2nd helping of warm food miso soup & spam ham, salmon with rice. (Since my 1st tray was just bread & yogurt ). I think I prefer to eat elsewhere for ¥1500 per person. Free ramen from 2130-2300hrs. Free yummy hot coffee at the entrance. Free shuttle bus to the Niigata station (limited hours) Overall it’s still the best choice for our 3 nights stay. (1 night at the okura)

This place is amazing, it's more like a small hotel that run by family. They can't speak english very well but very helpful. Also, the place is a lil bit small but the view is so amazing, the room is also very clean and spacious, very comfortable futon!! they even take us to the train station by their car while snowing so heavily outside. it's the best place!!! love it so much. the breakfast is also so good.

Located not far from the Southern Gate of Niigata Station. Although the single room is very small, the facilities, staff, amenities are all THUMBS UP!! The relaxation room at 2nd floor has a series of Japanese manga. There are also 2 massage sofa and free flow of coffee. At the same floor too, there is the Bath Place (Daiyoku jyo). The Bath Place is accessible by female and male guests are different time of the week. For instance, on weekends, 4-9 pm is designated for female, 9.30pm-1am is for male guests, and accessible again for female guests from 6-9am. Its then closed for cleaning. On weekdays, 4-9pm for female guests, 9.30pm-1am & 6-9am for male guests. The cleaners are extremely polite as well. I waited at the 2nd floor relaxation floor for the room to be cleaned. When the room was done, the cleaner came to the 2nd floor and kindly, politely informed me "Sorry to keep me waiting. My room is ready". Thank you so much!
