Where to stay in Niigata Prefecture
Niigata Prefecture hotels & accommodations
My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Lotte Arai Resort and telling our friends that it is the BEST resort we've ever stayed for a memorable skiing, osen and winter experience in Japan. Slopes are perfect for the very beginners (Pony 400m) to practice and the mid-beginners like me (Myoko Long Run 2,300m + Roppongi Road 1,100m + Village Road 2,100m). Despite the ...
Our large room offers the most wonderful view of Yuzawa's snow capped mountains that we wished we could have stayed longer and wake up with that scene on our window every morning. Just a few steps from the JR Echigo Yuzawa Station. Staff at the front desk was very accommodating; and the hotel had a great onsen facility. We really enjoyed our stay! If we ever go back to...
We upgraded the Japanese style room we booked through Agoda and stayed in the ryokan's Sara suite. It was a perfect getaway for 2! The staff was very friendly, and the ryokan's GM, Tomoko, explained everything we need to know and even gave tidbits about Japanese culture--how to use the onsen, how to wear the yukata provided, and how to drink matcha. The suite had ev...
Brought my father and mother in law for skiing here. 5 hours from Tokyo, but excellent quality of snow and ski courses. Hotel Taiko is one of big hotels in Akakura Onsen, and have good hot spring with nice view. Dinner was also good which has been surved Japanese Kaiseki style dinner.
We had a great stay at Niigata Keihin Hotel. Like many other hotels, it's conveniently located near the station. We had an easy, welcoming check-in, and had no issues with leaving our bags, despite our lack of common language. We would certainly stay here again.
Home away from home: The hotel owner and his wife are more like friends than business owner. Always Try their best to help out. On my last day, I went to the skii field, and the owner let me use the shower room before I head off again. The room- superb! Very clean, cozy and spacious, and value for money. The service- as said before, they are so friendly, and helpfu...
Wake up in the wonderful view of snow mountain . Just the Onsen tub abit small and old but its actually the historical kind of onsen. overall very good and nice environment with shuttle bus provided by the hotel until 6pm.
The hotel is very conveniently located within 2-3 minute walk of Takada Station. There's also a convenience store across the road. Rooms are decent with easy access to wifi. You have a t.v. and fridge along with a kettle. Not a bad hotel but with not much happening in Takada unless it's Sakura time, I'm surprised hotels in the area are more expensive than those in Niig...
I have stayed here before as it is just opposite Niigata train station. It is a step up from the usual business hotel and very good value for the price. As it was a holiday the next day and I guess nobody wants to stay in Niigata on a holiday, the price was only about 3800 yen per night. I had a flight the next morning and so chose it again, mainly because of the locat...
We booked this accommodation a few weeks before our trip, and thought the price was reasonable as compared to other resorts around Madarao. At first we were a little bit worried because of some negative reviews. To be fair, here is my review . I wish i can write more. :) Pros: Reasonable priced, Friendly and helpful staff, clean room and very comfortable bed, hot bath...
We stayed at Senke over the weekend for a snowboard trip from Tokyo. The hotel is a small family run Japanese pension with traditional tatami rooms and had everything we needed for budget accommodation. The staff were very welcoming and spoke basic English to help us with our requests, It felt like we were guests at their house :) The location is right in the main str...
I will strongly recommended to stay in this hotel as the owner n Staffs are very friendly . Foods n Onzen very good
Our group stayed in a twin and a room with double bed during our 3 night stay in Niigata. The hotel is on top of the convention centre and the rooms have either a great view of the Japan Sea or Niigata City. It's about 20 min walk from JR Niigata station and it was a pleasant walk. If you have luggage, you can take the hotel shuttle bus which is 3 min walk from ...
The hotel is connected to the Niigata Train Station so it could not have been more convenient. The staff was very polite and efficient. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is outstanding with offerings of a wide selection of Japanese dishes as well as typical Western fares. We bought a day pass for the Niigata Loop Bus which circled around the...
The hotel is very nice and clean. The room is really large and really comfortable even in the rest room. They even offer wifi in your room free of charge with high speed! The only bad thing i found is just air condition fan is too low even I adjust to max fan speed. I would definitely stay at this place again if I come back to Nagaoka.
I am come from Taiwan. My mainly language is Chinese. The host and me me are used the simple English, but there is no obstacles in communicate. Anyway, the most important is they provide me a free sake.
Made the reservation with sale price three days two nights with about 6000 yen was a reasonable deal and comment of my stay is this price is fair enough. Location is fine, not excellent especially considering the hot summer weather and only a few buses each hour Cleansing in the other hand was not very satisfying, a few hairs were found when I first entered my room ...
I chose this hotel for a 6 day visit with family to see the cherry blossoms. While the hotel is not really set up for longer stays, we found it a very convenient base. We could go on day trips to Kanazawa and Nagano by Shinkansen and were able to easily hire a car at Times Car Rental just a few minutes walk from the station. Takada was just a few minutes away by local...
Pros: Location near Furumachidori, twin room is bigger than double room, facilities are OK Cons: far from Niigata station
We arrived at Ichigo Yuzawa Station mid morning after a red eye flight from Hong Kong and telephoned the hotel, who quickly sent a minibus to pick us up from the railway station and bring us to the hotel. At first it seemed we were too early to check in, but the room became available and was released to us. We quickly changed and the hotel provided a shuttle bus to th...
Stayed in the hotel for four nights. The bed was large enough for couple, unlike most other Japanese business class hotels, and comfortable. Staff has basic english skills so you can manage. Room service was excellent and they keep everything very clean. The only problem is the distance to the Niigata station. If you have your own vehicle then its fine. There are bus...
Had a very pleasant night here. Even though I was booked into a smoking room I really couldn't tell that it had been smoked in, so they must do a good job of cleaning it. The location of this hotel is a little bit out of the way - definitely take a cab if you arrive at Niigata station as the walk is quite long. There isn't too much to do right in the area of the hot...
Big, clean hotel in the Mountain, far away from the cities! Awesome breakfast buffé and dinner buffé! Delicious food and service! 10 out of ten! It's a huge golf area with nice paths for walking. Mount Myoko with snow on the top where our view from the hotel. Awesome Spa with hot bath inside and outdoors. We can highly recommend this place!
Visited the Yuzawa Onsen during winter in the skiing season. The hotel is located just opposite the station and the bus stop with the shuttle buses to the various ski resorts like GALA Yuzawa, Yuzawa Kogen and Naeba is just in front of the hotel. The room I was given is very spacious and have a view of the station and the surrounding hills and mountains. There are two...
I went there before ski season begins so it's quiet, just what I was looking for. Not really waking distance but the hotel provides shuttle service during the day so not a problem at all. Very reasonable price compared to what's provided, love to recommend to someone looking for a quiet getaway. I stayed in Japanese style room but they provided a chair for my father...
While the room is a little dated, it’s well maintained and really clean. It’s a short walk to the train station with lots of amenities nearby, including another ski center and lots of eateries. What’s best is that the free shuttle to Gala Yuzawa picks us up right at the hotel doorstep.
3 nights experience with dormy inn No WiFi connected but after letting the staff know a router was given us to use in our room 🙌🏻👏🏻. MENS onsen on the entire top floor was impeccable 👍👍👍👍👍as for the LADIES sorry it’s not as good the minus 50% of the standard (facilities & size of the MENs onsen) & it’s on the 2nd floor next to the restaurant. Breakfast b...
This place is amazing, it's more like a small hotel that run by family. They can't speak english very well but very helpful. Also, the place is a lil bit small but the view is so amazing, the room is also very clean and spacious, very comfortable futon!! they even take us to the train station by their car while snowing so heavily outside. it's the best place!!! love it...
Everything we needed was taken care off, from transfers everyday to were wanted to go, to the best dinner and breakfast meals I have ever eaten in Japan. And the Onsen was magical in the snow. Room was very generous and the staff were all exceptional, could get any better, would definetly return one day. Thank you so much for a great Stay!
Located not far from the Southern Gate of Niigata Station. Although the single room is very small, the facilities, staff, amenities are all THUMBS UP!! The relaxation room at 2nd floor has a series of Japanese manga. There are also 2 massage sofa and free flow of coffee. At the same floor too, there is the Bath Place (Daiyoku jyo). The Bath Place is accessible by femal...
Cheap places to stay in Niigata Prefecture
The location is in an onsen town, food and buses are pointed out in a print out given to guests. Owner went the extra mile to help me find out how to get to my next destination.
the hotel sunroute niigata was easy enough to find and the walk from the station was a short one. great staff behind the front desk greeted me and there really was nothing to complain about the room. an extra plus for the free coffee in the lobby! as i didn't have a computer with me, it was good to be able to use two machines in the lobby. had a comfortable stay ...
We needed a relatively cheap hotel as we were catching the ferry from Niigata to Tomokamai in the morning. It was centrally located and provided parking for 800 yen at the back of the hotel. The front desk staff did a fantastic job of pointing out some close by attractions and a restaurant area near by. The rooms were small but neat and tidy. The bed was small, but we ...

The house is just amazing. Everything in the building is taken care of. Beds are comfy, design cool. Facilites are many. The only problem, the counter is closed most of the day, so you better arrange your arrival, or you just arrived between 17 or 22. And there’s no way to communicate with the person working in there. But overall I really enjoy my time there.
extremely well positioned next to the Niigata Train Station. that for me is a plus although theres really nothing much to do in the neighbourhood value for money when measured it as a japanese hotel. HOWEVER, Was booked into a smoking room.( by my request). just that there is only heater in the room with no AC. asked the front desk and they did apologize saying its ...

Owner was very nice welcoming us. Got free parking. Clean room but a little bit not clean enough for the bath tub. Overall, it's worth to stay 1 night if you got a car.
The cost performance was good.

It located about 500m from Niigata station, just 200m form Bandai shopping area (Isetan etc). Check in process is fast and simple. Room is spacious, surprise with the "Big size" LED TV. Conclusion, it is a hig CP value accommodation at Niigata.
APA branch of hotel generally is very valuable for money. This hotel is so close to station (tsubame sanjo) and it is a Shinkansen station, as such, it is very easy to go Niigata or other area, but at the same time, provide cheaper rate than Niigata. After walking out of the station, it's very easy to spot it. The room is as expected, as it's small in Japan, however,...
It's right outside the tsubame sanjo station, which is also an shinkansen station towards niigata. It's quite and nothing much around for tourist visit though. Hotel price is slightly cheaper than niigata area. Hotel itself is relatively old though. Slightly lower than normal apa hotel standard.

I booked this hotel last minute and got a great rate. The location is extremely convenient, being a short walk for the station. Be sure to not confuse it with other similarly named hotels in the area. The best part about this hotel is that you get one free beer with your stay!
Had a great stay in Hotel Myosen in early March. The location was excellent. Right in the middle of town and easy access to everything. Facilities were good also but like any hotel what really makes it is the staff. The lovely couple owners were ever to eager to help out with transport options, coupons to lift tickets, breakfast and other assistance. Great value, would...
Really convenient location, within two minutes of the Niigata Station Bandai Exit. Hotel has most amenities though there was a lack of WiFi. From the hotel you can take a train to your next location, do the grocery shopping at the station building or grab a bus at the large bus terminals on either side of the station.
I spent one night at the hotel. All in all an ok hotel, had to walk a little while to get there from the Niigata station but not too bad. Rooms are small, but this is common in Japan. Friendly staff. Wouldn't mind staying here again.
Near by Niigata station, (walk for 5-10min) you can see and across Shinano river! Breakfast was super yum! You should try Niigata style.

Had an enjoyable time. The onsen was a no frills place. I should say its more of a public bath house rather than a specialty onsen where there are multiple pools. For the ladies spa, there was an indoor and outdoor pook.
This hotel in the center of the city is close to everything! Great restaurants inside and outside the hotel. Room amenities are thoughtfully provided, very clean rooms with heated toilet seat. I love this hotel! Will stay there again!

Received a warm welcome on arrival but that was the end of happy. We were asked about our preference for a smoking or non smoking room at check-in. Of course we said we wanted the non-smoking none of us smoke. However, the room we ended up in had no view of the river. We paid AU$175 for one night in a hotel quite a distance from Niigata Station yet we had a window full...
nice hotel, very good place, very close with 7-11, can easy buy what you need, but room little, suggest future provide wifi. it very important.

The facilities are excellent and the vastness of the ground floor is amazing; many places for one to sit and relax. Love the Onsen. The buffett breakfast has many types of food and the Omakase dinner was delicious and plenty to eat. There is an adjacent Golf driving range and paddy field for one to wonder around the open space. The staff does not speak English; two st...

Fantastic will go back for fall
I missed the pickup shuttle and they helped me arrange a taxi. My room was upgraded. Very spacious and nice furniture. Staff were helpful and cheerful. Food was great. Thanks for the creative chef and the fresh local ingredients! The outdoor onsen was the best part. The mountain view was soothing. Overall, the place is well-designed and concerned about guests' experi...
Value for money. Really. This place is old but that it what makes it special. Back then we have big spaces. And it is still clean. I do not expect a shiny ski hotel so this place is a very very good choice for a family. The facilities around are nice and everything is there (almost) . close to the ski mountain, gondola, ski school, day care, restos, etc. If you are...
The unit was spacious for the 5 of us in 2 bedrooms. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to all our requests. We had fun in the snow as the ski slopes are just behind the resort. Best hotel stay I had for a long time.
Beautiful place, quiet and private. Food is good for both dinner and breakfast. There is onsen in the room too which is very convenient.
Easy to access to Yahiko Shine and Mt. Yahiko. There is a shop opposite this hotel selling the best cheesecake that I ever had. There are also many restaurants selling very nice and cheap food as well. I will definitely visit again next year.
Staff friendly. Room was large. Entire establishment full of history, ancient yet so well kept it felt “new”. Dinner course was good. Breakfast average. We were given a free hour to use the private family onsen which was great. Staff cleared the snow and ice from our car upon departure (very grateful).
Agoda should only offers hotels which staff are able to communicate in basic English. In this hotel, it was a total no. So much time is wasted trying to make each other understand each other. Even when you tried to use Google translate and show them the meaning, they explained to you in Japanese! Can't ask for anything, can't tell them our needs. It is basically accept...
Great location, walkable distance to ski lifts , Akakura Onsen bus station and the main street. Friendly and helpful staff at the lodge. I especially love the cozy lounge area where you can meet and chat with other guests. Breakfast was good and the chef has dessert (just a few hundred yen) ready at the lounge for you to enjoy after ski! The coconut banana brownie was ...
