Where to stay in Northern Territory
Northern Territory hotels & accommodations
We have stayed at C2 many times and it has the best view and the rooms are massive - So large the lounge is bigger than most hotel rooms. So clean and quite Beds are very comfortable I will stay there next time I am back in Darwin Supper friendly staff
We checked in very early, arriving at 7am when rooms aren't normally available until 2pm so they offered to downgrade us to a hotel room rather than the villa I booked at no extra charge - normally we'd have had to pay an extra half day. I think the rooms were bigger than the villas in any case, and they were comfortable with nice beds and pillows, a ceiling fan and a...
we had a very enjoyable stay over the past weekend at darwin central hotel. it is very well named because it's situated right at the northern end of the smith st mall. this is in the centre of the cbd and is surrounded by good quality restaurants and bars. the bus terminal and new warf precinct are both within 5 minutes walk. the staff were very attentive and helpf...
ok. I was booked in for the wrong night and the reception staff changed that without hassle. I have been doing a lot of travel recently in asia and this hotel was nice but sub-standard. No room service after 10pm and no complimentary water, toothbrush etc, which was a bit shabby. There were also a lot of lights going in the dark - smoke alarm, bedside clock radio, TV s...
If you want to visit the Kings Canyons, this is a nice place to stay. It’s in the middle of nowhere., not a lot else to do, no internet and no telephone reception. The restaurant is nice, but book ahead it’s quick fully booked. The breakfast was in the same restaurant and was quite good. The little store, not a lot available and very expensive, what is normal because i...
First time with Mercure, , had no idea when we booked what it would be like, was pleasantly surprised of the lovely first impression when pulling up to book in ... We felt we were in Bali... Great experience and would recommend this hotel and will certainly go back when visiting Darwin in the future..F fabulous staff and Accommodation and the food was to die for .. d...
This hotel rates itself as 4 star which is probably okay...except for a few things. It is clear the intent of this hotel is to offer 4 star facility at 3 star pricing and I think they do pull this off. However there is no bag service when you arrive. You have to unload your own bags and take them to your room. No great surprise at the price but not 4 star. The roo...
after reading so may unfavourable reviews of hotels in darwin, i was not sure what to expect with my stay at the mantra given it seemed to be the best of a bad bunch but this place was modern, spacious and really exceeded my expectations. i stayed in a harbour view room and it was definitely worth paying extra for the upgrade. i had a balcony overlooking the beach and ...
This is the third visit to the Club Tropical Resort and I'll keep coming back. You want value for money, beautiful clean, bright and spacious room book here. You want quality room presentation then here is for you in that your bedding is so comfortable, your complimentary toiletries are top quality all coupled with tea making facilities and eve a coffee pod machine in ...
I planned a 5 night getaway to surprise my husband for his 60th birthday. I was impressed by the online reviews I had read about the Zen Quarter and booked it at what I considered to be a very reasonable price for accommodation in Darwin. Our flight was a late arrival and we were met by a very friendly couple of staff members, any other staff we met with were also very...
Arrival early in the day didn't cause a problem and rooms were large, quiet, well-equipped and well-maintained, with the promised mountain view. Air-conditioning was efficient quiet and very controllable. Bathroom fixtures were modern and well designed. Hotel adjoins the golf course and is not in town. Generally a car is advised. In-room information was exasperatingly ...
This was our first stop in Darwin after travelling there on The Ghan from Adelaide. After a short hiccup of trying to find our booking; we found the staff to be most helpful going the extra mile of upgrading us into a better accommodation than we had booked. The staff on duty also helped us with our "pick up" for the next morning from Viator tours as we were cut off on...
Lovely food, Lovely view, Lovely staff, It was so clean! It had a beautiful atmosphere! Beautiful pictures that felt like the Northern Territory. It was very convenient. I seriously give it a 10/10!!
Booked to stay here for 2 days and stayed for another 5. Room was large and good size bathroom - nice and quiet to. Everything you need from a travellodge with restaurant and great front desk service. Complements to Jason especially who made our stay trouble free when AGODA lost our booking. Nothing was problem and he made our stay stress free. Thank you Jason. Nice...
We checked in to Coconut Grove on the last day of our holiday in the Northern Territory. We visited Darwin's waterfront and Mindil beach and did not have time to enjoy the pool of Coconut Grove. We found the spacious and clean rooms very pleasant and highly recommendable, also for the proximity to the airport. The staff was very helpful to arrange a taxi in the early h...
So sad to leave. Hands down the best accommodation we've EVER stayed in as a family. Half a floor to ourselves with beautiful views. Will definitely be recommending this to friends and family when they come to visit.
we arrived at this hotel from ho chi minh city, at 5.00am in mrning after flying all night. our check in was not until 2.00pm that day. having booked only 1 day stay in darwin, as we were in transit to cairns the next morning at 6.00am, we had no idea what we were going to do all day until 2.00pm check in. we were tired and needed a shower and a good lay down to rechar...
Correcting my booking after I had double booked after my daughter's flight bookings (for six people) took a long time, but I did receive a refund for all but one night in one room. I was grateful for the refund, but a few hundred dollars were wasted on the unused room. There seemed to be a continual problem with the printers in Reception which meant that no tickets we...
Reception staff efficient, helpful and friendly at all times. Great clean room with large bathroom and shower. Excellent Chinese restaurant on ground floor. Hotel gym has everything, and much to my delight, a chin up bar. First hotel I have stayed in with one so was able to do my Saturday workout to schedule. Will stay again.
Exactly what we were after for a 1 night stop over in Kakadu. We didn't spend much time in the room, just a quick swim & off again to the Yellow Waters sunset cruise, then back for dinner & bed. It had everything we needed, comfy beds, kettle, toaster, plates & cutlery & fridge for breakfast as there is no b/fast offered at the restaurant. The dinner we had by the pool...
The Hostel is quiet so you get your sleep if you want to, but you also always find people to hang out with at the pool or have a few drinks in the common area. The rooms are big with huge lockers for all your stuff. Big kitchen, plenty of showers and toilets everything get cleaned daily. 2min to Woolworth and 5min to Mitchell St with all the pubs. Staying here long te...
This is a great place to use as a stopover while travelling to see the sights in the Northern Territory. The grounds are very nicely maintained and it is an oasis in the desert. The room was plain but clean and the staff very helpful.
The staff were amazing - friendly and helpful and they had a good sense of humour. The village room with disabled facilities was fantastic with a cooktop, TV, comfortable bed, and spacious the two pools are well located at the resort amongst the lush gardens. I had meet other people that wished they had booked at Knotts Crossing Resort rather than where they were stayi...
Good Hotel. Airport transfer (only 4min) is offered back and forth whatever the time of your flight : THANK YOU this is super convenient. Room is spacious, comfy and tidy. Got quite a lot of insects in the room and bathroom but I believe this is part of the beauty of Australian Northern territory. No big deal.
If there is one thing I will say the Casino hotel has above all others in Alice Springs is that if something is wrong it will make it right... in the end.... if you fight for it. I specifically booked a room the same as the last one I stayed in, paying more for the bigger suite, only to be told upon check in it wasn't available and unless I could prove the photo there...
We had stayed at Luma Luma previously, so when we decided to spend five days in Darwin we wanted a place that offered facilities for some self-catering. We stayed in one of the studio apartments with a decently equipped kitchenette which was perfect for us. The place is perfect for sightseeing as it is easy walking distance to all attractions, restaurants, shops, cafes...
We walked into the Pandanas after a three day basic 4 wheel drive camping trip with high expectations and were not disappointed. Although we had booked a city view room we were pleased to see a panoramic view of Darwin Harbour from our 14th floor balcony. The hotel is easy walking distance to local attractions and restaurants. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorat...
We were supposed to stay with Darwin friends upon arrival on a red eye from Bali and 20 hours of travel...but they had to go to Perth! I booked through Agoda and rang the hotel to ask for an early check-in, explaining our desire to put head to pillow well before 2pm. No problem they said, and organised housekeeping to clean our room first...ready at 10am. Once we arriv...
The Mercure crocodile hotel is very central to Kakadu and has a very good restaurant which is open even in the wet season. They make good coffee and good drinks. The staff are friendly and a very nice Northern Territory people. We could access the aeroplane flight and the river cruise from the hotel. There is also a supermarket next-door for stocking up on supplies.
Cheap places to stay in Northern Territory
I've thoroughly enjoyed my time spent living here (waaay longer than anticipated), and have since made heaps of good memories + countless friends. The place has this sort of communal, anarcho-squathouse type vibe to it, which I enjoy. Biggest complaint is the abject lack of ventilation in (some of) the bathrooms/showers (total sweat-fest)... There also seems to be no ...
Definitely recommend staying here, the hostel is very clean and the beds are comfy and AC works well. The best part about the hostel is the staff and friendly atmosphere. Everyone was so friendly and sometimes all make dinner together and have drinks outside. No bar in the place which means you can save money buying drinks at the supermarket. Also lots of fridges for...
Kitchen is fully equiped with everything you may need and very clean. Staff very nice and helpful. It's a very nice place to stay.
I did find the room a bit small for 4 people to be sharing. But I slept like a log and appreciated the kitchen, the bathrooms and of course the front-end desk staff. Not a very safe place to park a car at this hostel so I parked it over in front of the police station which was just a short walk away from the hostel. Problem solved.
Chilli Backpackers provides a decent clean room at reasonable cost for Australian prices. However, it is poorly organised for late check-ins. I arrived on a late flight and was at the hotel about 12am. The doors were locked with a sign telling klate arrivals to call a 1-800 number. (I had a mobile phone so was able to call the number.) However, e callw as diverted to a...
I spent two nights in the Betty van, cool idea for a place to stay! I loved the graffiti (add your own), too. Bed was comfortable, and there was very little noise (it is all the way in the back). Hostel grounds are well-maintained and have some very magical lighting at night so you can find your way to the toilets without turning on any lights. The hostel location itse...
prior to staying at momh i had booked a tour to see kakadu, katherine and litchfield for , couldnt find anything cheaper online. the day before flying out it got cancelled. spoke to the lovely staff at momh and they suggested another tour which only included kakadu and litchfield but it was only and it was amazing - territory expeditions i think it was. i was in a do...
We are 70 year old travelers. The staff is wonderful, friendly and very helpful. They confirmed tours for us and checked on times, etc., since we were not from Australia. Even the owner works at the front desk. The rooms were simple and very clean, and the bed was very comfortable! It was a 15 minute walk to the town center. The kitchen for guests was very functional ...

One of the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed! Location is near cbd and just 5-10 minutes walk. Room is quite big and have their own bathroom. Plenty open space in this hostel and the staff were friendly and helpful. Rikki as the manager are very responsive and informative. Thumbs up for this hostel!
Youth Shack was an interesting place. Very noisy, party place for young people obviously as the name suggests. Great location. They couldnt provide me with a quieter room on the opposite side of the party area even though I asked for it months before when I booked. This was a little disappointing. Kitchen area was not equipped and not really clean so I didnt attempt to...
I didn't expect anything but everything is clean and good. Especially closed to city and mindil beach
Glen Helen is a spectacular location at the end of the West MacDonnells Range in the Northern Territory. The Lodge gives you a place to hang out after leaving Alice Springs to tour the Gaps and Gorges of the West MacDonnells, without having to race back to Alice before sunset at the end of the day. It also allows you to continue on a leisurely next day around the lo...
Clean, quiet in the dorms and friendly staff.
Cabins are spacious with ample cooking facilities in pleasant surrounds. Good central location for access to the Kakadu National Park, Katherine Gorge and the surrounding country of Pine Creek. The Lazy Lizard is a "one stop shop" with a tavern with heaps of character, supplies meals at very reasonable rates, small supermarket and fuel pumps. Only down side was the hot...
The Cavenagh Hotel is outstanding value for money. It is centrally located for attractions and shops within central Darwin and is served by the airport shuttle bus. The rooms are very clean and spacious and overlook the pool, which is a great place to cool off in the afternoons after a long day out and about. The restaurant served some of the best pub food I have had a...
We stayed with older child. Two double beds in huge room with modern quiet aircon and digital TV with foxtel. Fridge and kettle and clean hot shower. Free wifi was good but occasionally drop out depending on which room you in. The downstairs restaurant has excellent meals and great prices. The bar has also some bbq on Thursday/Friday/Saturday afternoon when exotic fe...
The hotel was not impressive on outside, but the room is comfortable, clean and nothing to complain about. The location is central, 1 street away from the 'nightclub' street, which I imagine can be noisy. Shay, the hotel manager was helpful. He helped us to book many of our trips. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Well equipped caravan, good kitchen , onsite, reasonable price, nice staff 30 min from Darwin. The wasn't hot water in caravan, fire alarm worked without any reason few times after 23:00.
Recently stayed with another couple for 2 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment. Was essentially a dual key apartment, with the second bedroom, separate bathroom and kitchenette separated from the main apartment. It provided great privacy for both couples and we were all able to gather for drinks/meals in the main apartment lounge or on the balcony. Hi quality fitout with SM...
Booked central location as we have been in Alice before. Hotel has a good bar and a very good restaurant on the property (Stumps). Agoda price was really good ($79). When we got to the room I thought we really had a dud as we were above the bar and above the cool room with fridges running continuously on the ground floor. To our surprise the room was very quiet, s...
We stayed at Casa on Gregory because it was reasonably close to airport and we wanted somewhere we could have a browse around for an afternoon and a quiet dinner before an early night to catch a very early flight next morning. It was perfect as taxi arrived at 4am and we were at airport at 4.10am. Louise, the manager had organised the taxi on our arrival for us. Lovely...
Very convenient for Litchfield National Park. On the edge of Batchelor so easy to walk into town to grab dinner. We stayed for one night having driven over from Kakadu, then spend the day in Litchfield before driving back to Darwin. Host was very friendly, and they have a bird feeding twice a nice. Basic but good value.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Barramundi lodge and I would definitely stay again. The location was great, quiet and only a 5 minute walk to mindil beach and the sunset markets and a 15 minute walk into the city centre. The room and facilities were clean and comfortable. The swimming pool area was great for relaxing

A little out of the way,my tour bus company had never heard of the place so they didn't know how to drive me there so that caused me some anxiety. But once there the experience was entirely satisfactory.Clean accomodations, excellent shower facilities, free wifi which was unexpected and very welcome, good home cooked breakfast and Kathy drove me downtown for my activities ...
Great value for money for a Northern Terriotory Hotel, they are usually overpriced and smell, but this is a great budget hotel with large rooms, free breakfast and an external kitchen, fast WIFI and in a quiet area. The staff are very helpful and friendly which is also becoming very rare in the Northern Territory.
Fantastic! We stayed in the Stockman's Quarters, which was nice, big and clean. They did the best possible job in keeping insects and other animals outside (which succeeded). The ranch has a real authentic feel to it and was a welcome break from Darwin. Can't complain about anything actually. Well, maybe that the pool water was pretty chilly haha.
Best value for money accomidation I have stayed in for a long time. We were pleasantly surprised by the room, facilities and staff.

It looks recently renovated, very clean, comfortable beds, best thing is they have 2 types of pillows, firm and soft which are clearly marked. Would stay again, however found that the prices are very variable, we stayed on a sunday night and tried to book in for the following saturday night, however price was more than double.
The presentation and the appearance of the hotel inside and out match its 4 star standard. Once got into our room, could not get the air-con working. Rang for help; it was the same staff who worked in the front desk came to help (electrician went for Christmas break). Maybe the fault was bigger than she could handle, she transfered us to another nicer room with everyth...
We stayed on the 9th floor and the view over Darwin was fantastic!! The apartment is a little 'dated', but comfy enough. The air conditioner struggled a bit with the heat and condensation dripping started just as we left in the morning, but it was quite a hot 'wet season' morning. The pool looked lovely, but was a bit warm and two of my family had really red sore eyes ...

This was my second stay at the Holiday Inn Esplanade. Even better this time around. Some of the staff from my 1st stay 6 months ago where still here and where still doing an imaculate job. The hotel it self is beautifully appointed. The rooms are clean and large with all the amenities you would expect in a hotel of higher rating. The pool area is refreshing. Food is pl...
this review is for the deluxe queen room the room is large especially for one person; it has a twin bed and a queen bed. the hotel is very close to the town center. but as a single female traveling alone i would not recommend walking alone at night i booked this upon my return from a 4-day camping/glamping gig in the outback all in all the hotel is clean and a good...
Only negative was lift was slow but that's being very very picky.

We only spent a night here after a late arrival at Darwin airport. I had communicated with them about the very late arrival and it was no problem at all. We had our keys ready for us in an envelope directly in front of the reception office. The cabin was simple but very clean and completely stocked with what we needed for a quick breakfast. Coffee and tea were provided...
It may not come with all the bells and whistles of a 5 star resort however, the friendly efficient team go over and beyond to do their job in customer service. Some how, our booking was registered for the day prior to our arrival - not sure if this something I did in my enthusiasm in booking our trip around the Top End?? Arriving a day late, Tania welcomed us with ...
we had a wonderful stay at chalets on woodlands. it is a relaxing place in peaceful surrounds. we were upgraded to the pandanus chalet which was more spacious. the lovely hosts made us feel very welcome and couldn't do enough to ensure we wanted for nothing, as well as giving useful advice about things to do in the area. the location is ideal for visits to berry spring...
A must-do while in Alice Springs! unique experience of glamping (a luxurious version of camping), comfortable heated/air-con tents with very pretty Aboriginal decorations. Super grand BBQ dinner (to be pre-ordered separately) with too much food for two people :D Can see the sunrise/sunset/stars just outside your tent, and I just can't stop exclaiming in awe!!
Pretty good location at the edge of the city midway to Mindil Beach. Woolworths just next door, but if you got the rooms facing it, you are in for a rude awakening at 730am when the goods arrive as it is just outside your windows. Nice staff, clean rooms, good value for money. Free on street parking 5pm-8am (or free day parking 10 minutes walk away), otherwise $10/nigh...
It was good. It was the best bed I had slept on in a few weeks. Had a good nights sleep
heavitree gap is an unusual place. it is sort of rustic but a good match for its setting. there is a great pool, tavern/casino and the best thing of all...the daily feeding program for the colony of rock wallabies just behind the hotel. you could buy a bag of feed for $1aud and beginning about 4:30 in the afternoon, they come down from the mountain to eat. they are...

I've stayed twice at this hotel. The first was in a 'city view' room on level 3. All good. Spacious, clean and quiet. I think I got it a bit cheaper than normal so it was good value for money. The second time was a few days later in a 'çabana' room next to the pool. This room was in need of a bit of a update with everything appearing to be a bit tired. The bathroom was...
my stay was awesome...unforgettable! the room was fabulous and very clean...the place was quiet and peaceful. i would consider staying there again in the near future and i will recommend the hotel to my relatives and some friends...the hotel staff were courteous and friendly and very helpful to the guests...
Staff friendly, room spacious, breakfast great, location convenient. Down side. - room smelt like sweaty socks.
Luxury hotels in Northern Territory
So sad to leave. Hands down the best accommodation we've EVER stayed in as a family. Half a floor to ourselves with beautiful views. Will definitely be recommending this to friends and family when they come to visit.
Great stay, glad I booked the Hilton. When I go back with friends again will book again, can't wait. If there is anything that could be different would be the pillows- they were a little sad, but I spend hundreds on mine, this wouldn't be very fiscal in the economy rooms. Staff were very helpful, and a pleasure to deal with- not a common theme with nice hotels, everyo...
Fantastic and will certainly come back again if in Northern Territory
This was my favourite stay of our trip! We stayed in the Log Cabin - a quirky yet authentic little place reflective of "Good old Australiana". The relaxed vibe and beautiful surrounds of the cabin just made our stay super special. No better place to sit back after a day of playing tourist to watch the sunset over this beautiful part of the world. (Ps the Sunrise was a...
Lovely relaxing stay. Was definitely a bonus to have a swimming pool in the 37 degree heat! It was easy to book excursions through the hotel reception. We did the Uluru base walk at sunrise which was with a guide and took 6 hours. The guide was informative and explained the aboriginal cultural stories. We had a picnic breakfast. We also did the astronomy tour at nigh...
For solo business traveller the smallish room was fine. location great and everything worked without issue. My only comment would be the shower hot water was a cooliish tepid warm at best...there was a couple a times I really wanted a hot shower but even on max hot was still pretty cool. Not too much of an issue for Darwin but would nice to have the choice...but not a ...
