Nova Scotia hotels & accommodations
the hotel is really close to downtown. it is 23 minutes walk or 3 minutes car drive. hotel is also accessible to bus route. the hotel room that we got has a city view. the room is so clean and quiet. could use some more room for curtain as we cant close our curtain blind. hotel staffs are so nice. they also have an underground parking, you can pay at the reception (we...
Giving it higher rating than a 3.5 star hotel. Pros: Very clean room, very pleasant professional and friendly staff, full hot buffet breakfast, free parking and pool, offered a late checkout thought we needed but in end didnt need - still reassuring to have it in an emergency; very close to restaurants & Dartmouth Crossing shopping. Cons: minor things - qstron...
Very nice hotel, with an ample, tasty breakfast, and incredibly comfortable beds. A Perfect location in downtown Halifax near the waterfront. Would’ve given it five stars, only before I got there an email had been sent by the hotel asking if there was anything they could do to make my stay more pleasant. They mentioned some options, and I checked that I’d like a r...
After being in Nova Scotia for three days teaching in Lunenberg, I stayed at the Quality Inn the night before my 6:00 a.m. flight to Toronto. My room was clean and comfortable. My meal at the restaurant was delicious and the waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. What a nice place to rest my head before a full day of traveling back to my home in Charleston, West V...
I really enjoy the Lord Nelson, its proximity to the public gardens was very important this time as we were doing a bench dedication to my grandmother, Agnes MacDonald, at the gardens on Friday.. its also easy to stroll around downtown and the citadel, etc. The restaurant was very enjoyable, food and cocktails , and the young man who served us for several meals was v...
Actually, It was my last time to stay in Halifax in Nova Scotia. I can still recall the beautiful memories with the chocolate lake hotel. especially in summer time, I will not forget in forever. I will be there again.
Pros: Clean, spacious rooms. My friend who stayed with me is a Public Health Inspector. She thoroughly searched the room for bed bugs in every nook and cranny, happy to say she found none. Staff kindly upgraded us to a king bed to have a little more room to get ready for my wedding. Beds and pillows were also comfortable. Cons: no elevator access to get to our room. Ha...
I selected this hotel primarily based on location as I had to travel to other hotels for a conference, but it exceeded my expectations. I had a room that was like an apartment - separate bedroom from living space and it had a little kitchenette as well. If I could book that room again I definitely would. Location is great too for downtown Halifax.
Really nice hotel. Large room and comfortable bed. Shower was great too. We enjoyed the pool and the location. Wish it had had a rooftop patio, but what they had was good.
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Clean room, the only con for the room was the shower curtain smelled very musty and it made the room smell. I called the front desk from my room and they brought up a new one immediately! Room service staff is very polite and friendly. Complimentary breakfast every morning is definitely a perk! Parking is not complimentary but...
Staff were very attentive, facilities very clean. Suggestions for improvement: Use real cutlery instead of plastic for breakfasts. A magnified mirror (for make up application and shaving) in the bathroom would also be helpful.
The staff were very welcoming and efficient. Helped us with directions. Food in bistro was amazing.
Excellent. Restful, great food, very friendly staff. Thank you.
very clean and quiet hotel. friendly staffs. good breakfast selection. lots of parking space. will definitely go back again!
We used this as a landing and departing spot for The Cat ferry from and to Portland to Yarmouth and back. It was perfect for arrivals. As you arrive in Yarmouth, from the 6 hour ferry ride, you are tire and ready for bed. The ferry arrives well after 9:00PM so trying to find a hotel is not really what you want. They wait up for the ferry so the service is quick and e...
The service was amazing and accommodating. Its located next to the sports center. The cleanliness is great. They even have the tv remote in a clean package. Its very modern also. The only cons are I noticed the mirror was only cleaned over the sink and not the whole thing. The second is the bed is really firm do it was a hard sleep.
Very nice, conveniently located hotel in downtown Halifax. Friendly staff. Special kudos to Desiree.
Great hotel and location. There was no hand soap in our room. Did not look for any as we had our own but should have been there Also most places we stayed had complementary breakfast, which we were expecting. But did not get at the Rodd.
Lovely large room which was very comfortable. Not only was there tea & coffee making facilities in the room but also 24 hour availability in the breakfast room. The breakfast was quite adequate with plenty of fresh fruit available. It was nice having a pool and sauna on site too. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant.
Great hot breakfast was included in the price!
We had the opportunity to stay at the Truro Hampton Inn and Suites this past weekend and were impressed with the overall look of the facility, smoothness of check-in and out in addition to a top quality room and great breakfast with lots of choices. It was apparent that the staff take pride in working there which was nice to see.
The room was large and the hotel very clean and in a good location. Breakfast was a standard hotel continental breakfast. All in all, a good choice for a place to stay in Amherst, Nova Scotia.
People were very helpful and kindful to us. We definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you,
About 6 pm we wanted to sit on the porch for a drink. It was raining a few drops. We were not allowed to sit there. That table was only for groups of 8. But there was no group at all... We had to sit inside the bar. Next morning we waited in the restaurant to order breakfast, but nobody came. After Some time we decided to go and eat along the road. It was our plan to ...
This hotel is what you'd expect from a 2-star facility - clean and simple. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Even though the hotel was being renovated during my stay, everything functioned well and/or alternate services (e.g., gym) were offered at another hotel within walking distance.
Good. We lwere visiting friends nearby.
Since it is a dormitory, there is no air-conditioner, which is a little bit hot during the summer days. Our room has a very nice view, which is having the view of the football court. The best part is - there is a Tim Hortons downstairs, especially when you are starving for coffee and donuts.
Room type change request was handled very well. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Loved the heated pool and hot tub. Will definitely be back again. Exercise room could be a nice feature.
Everything from check in to check out was smooth and pleasant. The staff were extremely helpful. The place was clean, and the room accommodating, particularly because it was heated. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom facilities very clean. I do not hesitate to recommend it. Thank you.
Not what you normally expect from Motels. Good size rooms with King beds, clean throughout and very good customer service.
Cheap places to stay in Nova Scotia
Can be very noisy if there are other groups or kids booked. Bring ear plugs.
Great place for a no frills stop over. Be warned of the word Mount. It is a killer hill to walk up if you’re relying on public transport but the bus service is amazing. We had a 4 bedroom apartment. It had 2 bathrooms, all the basic kitchen equipment to get by. Plastic mugs and plates like camping, but good enough. Adequate toiletries were provided. It was clean and th...

There were water problems which took 2 days to resolve (university bureaucracy slow to respond?)... cold showers 2/3 mornings. Room was good. Everything very clean. Washrooms and showers gender neutral but quite private (and very clean). Dal is about a 30-minute walk to downtown Halifax (there is a bus...).

I stayed this hotel for a base of my traveling to and from PEI. also it's possible to go to cape Breton and if going down Halifax within for an hour. the owner is canadian but they have lived some Asian country so they are nice to Asian people, too.
Nice setup and the people there are extremely dedicated to making your stay at the resort tonyour liking. Inhave actually seen one of them run to answer a customer’s request which is not something tou see often these days. My hat is off to all the people working there, they truly make this place unique and unforgetable.
Great hotel. Very comfortable beds!
On the road for a family funeral, the staff was exceptional, especially Joey at the front desk, and the restaurant staff. Gym facility great, food in the restaurant just right.

We drove to MacNeil's Motel as we had to be at the Marine Atlantic Terminal in North Sydney early the next morning to catch the ferry to Newfoundland. We found this motel to be very clean and at a perfect location. The manager was very accommodating and friendly and recommended several places for us to eat. If we wanted seafood, he suggested the restaurant right acr...
They give us a room whith a very small bathrom the pipe for the toilet link and the toilet block during the night. It is not the kind of quality that I am attend from this hotel because we had a few weeks ago an another that was very much than that one in your banner.

We went recently to the Decoste center to watch Strawbs. The venue was excellent and this little B&B which was in a short walking distance from it was perfect. Great location, easy to find, our host were genuine and the morning food was excellent. Highly recommended and will be back here to watch other performances at the Decoste center. Bob

Enjoyed my stay in spite of the power outage in the area.

I am not complaining about the hotel, but rather the price I paid thru Agoda. I thought when I booked on June 24 that I was getting a good price but found out when comparing my brother's pricing (who also stayed same nights and booked direcly with Hilton DoubleTree) that his pricing was much better. I even asked the desk clerk what it would cost me if I booked for 3 n...

The Inn was designed and set in such a way that you would get a feeling of being a special guest. The place was very clean and the staff was so friendly. The price was reasonably cheap as its charged for the price of those below average accommodation but provided a quality as a high ended accommodation.

The only reason to stay here is if you take the ferry to Yarmouth and can't get a closer room. While the room and bathroom were large and clean, there were many religious signs everywhere, which I do not appreciate. The hosts wer every friendly and accomodating, but they can't cook.
Our stay was pleasant enough. The gentleman at the desk was kind and informative. The room/bedding was clean. The view was beautiful. The units need some tender loving care, in our bathroom the toilet was not secure to the floor, it rocked. My biggest complaint is the comfort of the bed, the mattress needs replacing. Very close to an excellent restaurant.

We especially liked the location and view of the area. It would be a good location to stay for several nights in the summer, especially for those who like to do their own cooking. We also liked how quiet it was. We had to get small items such as a sponge for cleaning dishes, paper towels and Kleenex. There was no shower gel. These absences did not sour our overall expe...
We have stayed here many times over the years. Although I usually check the prices of the other hotels near the airport, this one is not only the best value, but it is our family's favourite place to stay. We love flying in from the other side of the world and going straight to the Holiday Inn Express.
I had a pleasant stay. This is not your downtown modern hotel at double or triple the price but it is clean and comfortable and still close to everything. The staff is great. The small kitchenette, complete with small stove, fridge, sink and basic pots, pans and dishes is good for anyone wanting to get their own meals. The internet worked well. Coffee and toast for bre...

We were guests but we were not allowed to eat dinner at the restaurant and had to wait 2 hours before they would seat us for breakfast because tour groups are their priority, doesn’t matter they we also paid to stay
It was a nice place to stay on our last day before taking our flight home. Our host was very helpful, prepared us a snack to go because we were leaving at 7am. Very nice, charming place.
Clean and comfortable with charm
Our stay was fine. Issues were entrance to building doors were directed to be locked at night but could not be locked. The owner is very enthusiastic about Cape Breton and provides a lot of information during breakfast. A wonderful but totally carb based breakfast whips up your enthusiasm and if you are vulnerable to it, your hyped up carb and caffeine flying wife buys...
Great hotel. Very comfortable beds!
Very good.
This is a really beautiful place with great scenery and room decoration. I'm sure that 360 days out of the year we would have loved our stay there, however as we stayed over during a hot spell, the lack of air-conditioning made the whole experience fairly uncomfortable. Similarly, the breakfast we had was tasty, but I had trouble enjoying the warm pancakes and warm tea...
Charming house and friendly host. Excellent breakfast.
Great location nice town. I would recommend staying there to our friends.
Good stay
Nice clean rooms, comfortable beds and excellent breakfast.
The only thing I would change are the bed pillows - they were like bean bags. Too big...
We came to Lunenburg for our anniversary. Because it was not the peak tourist season, there were many restaurants and stores that were closed for the season; however, it was still a lovely stay. We spent two nights in the hotel which was quite comfortable. The breakfast was included and was a continental breakfast. It was fine, as it was free, though I would not pa...
My stay was excellent. The rooms are a good size. clean. Every room I have stayed in has a small refrigerator which is excellent. I love the location. Great for parents visiting their children attending Acadia University. Reasonably priced. A little dated with scratched furniture in rooms , dark lobby & exterior needing update as well , but looks from outside deceiving...

We will definitely return to the Argyler. This was our first visit to Nova Scotia, and we can't wait to return. The staff here did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. They were warm and friendly without being obtrusive. Our room had all of the comforts of home. The food will stay in our minds for a long time. Whether it was breakfast or dinner, it wa...
Booked a queen bed UT only had a double. Price was supposed to be the same. Hotel attendant blamed booking agency for over booking the number of Queen rooms. Was not willing to adjust price.
Good place to stay during family gathering in Sydney Nova Scotia. Close to attractions, friendly staff, comfortable rooms. Would stay in this hotel again. Thank you!
Ok
The Telegraph House and Motel is centrally located for side trips to Cape Breton Island and the Cabot trail. Besides the on site restaurant, there are several other restaurants for various tastes. The Alexander Graham Bell Museum is also a must visit place.
It was OK. The bed was not very comfortable. And the continental breakfast could use a little something more for the cost of the room. The remodeling of the interior was not done with any historical accuracy.
I lost enjoyment after few days as the owner started to make rasist jokes about me. Also the same owner demonstrated complete lack of respect towards patrons by water-blasting the external walls with the water pump under my window. I was discussing business over the phone and I had to leave the motel to continue my work. There is no respect for patrons. For a $40 /day ...
Everything was perfect; facilities, staff, location price, etc. There is no words to describe or commend that said. One thing could not be left out to say is that the internet service was so great. It was run as a high speed. We did surprise to how good and fast internet was as it seemed as if we sat and worked out of our office in Toronto, a major city as comparin...
