Traveling to Denmark? Find Southern Denmark hotels

My sister and I were looking forward of the 2 night stay at HC Andersen Hotel at Odense. We guess because the room booking was not a direct booking with the hotel, we were allocated a room on the 2nd floor facing the busy road and above the gabbage area. There is no air conditioning service and we were told that the temperature at night is comfortable if we open the window. In consideration of safety issue (the room is on the 2nd floor and it is facing the busy road), we decided to keep the window closed during night time. In future we think it will be wiser to book direct with the hotel as we hope to be allocated a rokm with better location.

To those who want to enjoy the sea view from the room, please do not get confuse with the outlook photo of the hotel. It is the administration/restaurant building. The guest room is behind it so be prepared to have some block to the sea view. Also, beware that plastic (instead of glass or ceramic) cups are provided. The most disappointing thing is that someone left the dirty cleaning cloth in the bathroom. Apart from that, the breakfast is very delicious and you can chill out in the balcony and enjoy your meal.

Enjoyable stay - great for families and groups, spacious cottage. You can park right next to the house. There is also space outside the house where you can have a barbecue. Had no idea that a separate charge per head applies for towels and bed sheets - no way to get around this really unless you are visiting locally and knew ahead of time to bring your own. If you pay by credit card, 2% fee applies - also did not know ahead of time. Staff were helpful and provided instructions on how to get into the city. I would not walk though - it is a good 1.5km +, and there are some free parking spaces in the city.

This is one of those hotels where the receptionist attends you... from a sister hotel! And they do it thanks to a camera, a screen and a microphone. There is then a machine that delivers the room key (a magnetic card) and another machine to insert your credit card in case the room was not paid in advance. The receptionist -by the way- was very nice and helpful and, in fact, she was just sitting in the sister Hotel which is just 50 meters away from Ydes Hotel. Once I got the key, I went up the steep stairs (there is also an elevator) to the third floor where there was my single room. This was very small (ca. 6 sq.meters) but it was cosy, pleasant and very clean. There was a very comfortable bed, a small desk, 2 chairs, a flat screen TV, a narrow wardrobe, a safety box, a hairdryer and a kettle (but you have to bring the coffee or the tea bags). Everything was modern, and well maintained. With reference to the ensuite bathroom, this was spacious (ca. 4 sq. meters), very clean and with a nice window. The location is also a good one, as it is very central, very close to the Odense Central Railway Station (a 10 min. walk maximum) and very quiet and safe. From the hotel is very easy to reach on foot the different pedestrian streets where there are several good dinning options and bars(I recommend, f.ex., Froggys Cafe (Vestergade 68), Restaurant Djengis Khan (Overgade 24-26) or the Cafe Biografen (Brandts Passage 39-41)). With reference to the breakfast, this is served in the sister Hotel. The breakfast consists of rolls, white and rye bread, different kinds of yogurt, different kinds of jam, oatmeal, cornflakes, muesli, different kinds of cold meat and cheese, coffee, tea, milk, fruit juices, fresh fruits and vegetables, scrambled eggs and bacon, and soft boiled eggs. Let me add as well that as a guest in the Ydes Hotel, you can get free coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fruits at the restaurant in the sister Hotel. So I'd stay here again!

We stayed here for one night as a cheap family option for a visit to Legoland (you can buy tickets for legoland at the camp). Most other families were here for the same reason, although most stayed longer than one night. This is very much a camping style hotel, with mostly caravans and tents mixed with huts. Our hut was very basic and the hotel rules suggest you are to bring your own blankets and pillows or else pay extra for hotel provided ones, but we were never charged anything extra and blankets were in the room on arrival. The biggest difficulty was finding the camp site, as our GPS was a little out of date, but it wasn't too bad, only a short drive out from Billund (legoland). There is also a charming town adjacent to the camp, but the only general store is either the small one in the camp or else 4km away near the highway. Please note, none of the cabins seem to have their own bathroom... you will need to share with the other campers... there are three toilet areas, but only the central ones seemed to have showers. As mentioned earlier, this is very much a camping experience, not a hotel or bed and breakfast experience, but we really enjoyed it.

on the begging i was quite excited to stay in that hotel cos i heard lot of good things about it ... but that was all .... first night shows how uncomfortable this hotel is i slept 2 might on a floor cos beds was terrible ... noise from the outside was nor really helping to specially when youngsters had a meeting outside hotel (shouting bottle smashing etc...)cleanness of room will be fine but pls dining table in room need cleaning not only from the outside but also from the inside cos looks disgusting ( spills food crumbs no one was cleaning that for ages ) even me i found out about that by accident ... for 2 nights its way to much specially for Scandic class hotel ... me ill not stay there again sorry ... for that price its much more and much better hotels around then that ...

The BnB is centrally located & not far from the train station--max 15 minutes with a suitcase. You MUST call a local number when you arrive which is a bit annoying due to international phone fees. Johnny, the owner, is super friendly and full of life & joy. I had room 2 with a private bathroom down the hall. The room was fine and plenty big. It included 2 chairs, a cofee table, and a desk & 2 chairs (closet & hangars). There was also a TV. There were 2 things I didn't like. The shower is configured in a way that the floor always gets wet & there was no shower mat. It's one of those small WCs and a bit cumbersome to shower. Note--tall people might find it difficult to maneuver. Second, there weren't enough(any?) electrical outlets to charge the electronics; you have to unplug something to charge. The breakfast is substantial. There's a great coffee machine. You have some fridge space & can use the kitchen area (closes at 10) to prepare picnic lunches which is most helpful. Very clean!

Excellent stay at Birkum B.B.. Kirsten and Frank are very kind hosts and did what is possible to make us feel at home. The location is not far from Odense and offers a great break from the usual city accommodation. The breakfast is greatly recommended. It was our honor to be one of the first guests coming from Hong Kong and we do recommend this to all visitors to this area.

It was a splendid hotel with clean and spacious rooms. As we were staying during the off peak season. we had the lounge and common facilities all to ourselves which was a bonus. The only thing to take note is that its close to the main roads, so may be a little noisy for those who want a super quiet environment. Will definitely stay there again should we visit Svendborg
