This place is more suited for camper van and low budget stay. We were slightly late with the booking of accommodation noting that it was a peak period too, and the last best choice was Getaway Te Anau. We didn't have any expectations apart from knowing we booked for a twin bed cabin. Upon arriving, we were surprised at how packed and crowded the place was. We went for a standalone cabin as we were particular with privacy, sandwiched between 2 camper vans approximately 1 metre away. The nature of this accommodation is that there will be a lot of movements around and noise is something you can't control. The cabin was also quite warm, so we left the door open for some air circulation. A pet cat came running in and jumped all over our bedding, to make things worst my partners has allergy to cat dander. Unless you're a backpacker/camper van/on budget, this is probably not the place for you. The location and facilities were very good though.

Stayed in the Standard Studio room for 2 nights. Amenities in the room was good. The beautiful Te Anau lake is just right across the road. Stone throw away, there are plenty of shops and 2 supermarkets. The only con was our room had the funny smell of detergent. Tried opening the windows and door to clear the air but ain't really working. I get used to it on the second day. Booked the room from agoda which stated that the room comes with bath tub but our room only had a standing shower. Overall it was a good stay. Love the serenity and privacy. Will I be back? Definitely.

we had a very pleasant stay at the distinction in te anau, looking at the many different options on agoda we decided to chose the distinction and when we arrived i realized we had made the best choice. the staff is friendly and overly obliging in every way. we had a lake front room which was very well appointed and comfortable. we enjoyed the bar area and the free wifi in the lobby. we stayed for 2 nights and didn't ask for service so the chamber maids left us soap and towels outside our door while we were away.

We stayed here for our visit to Milford Sound and was very happy with it. the ground was beautiful we were near many good hiking routes. Oh and YEAH they have good and FREE internet (our last place's internet was rubbish). One thing we loved was the well-equipped kitchenette. We got ample crockery, a microwave, stove, kettle, fridge and even an electric frying pan - made that "wannabe" kitchenette at our last hotel looked pathetic really... I was very blessed to be travelling with 2 guys who cook fantastically. We ate really well every day! There was also convenient parking right outside our door. I would recommend this motel for anyone planning a drive to visit Te Anau and Milford Sound.

ASURE Amber Court Motel is the best hotel in South Island that we stayed during our 16 days trip. The hotel provided you anything you need for the perfect holiday. As we stayed in 3 bedrooms, we got the entire house with has dining room, living room, 2 bathrooms and full barbecue equipments. The hotel’s facilities is perfect. They had installed heaters and electronic blankets in every rooms, dish washer and washing machine with free washing powder in the house too. If we have a chance to come back to Te Anua, we would like to stay at this hotel again for sure.

it seems rude to call this place a 'motel' as it is so much better than that. the unit was spotlessly clean with lots of nice little touches everywhere. the receptionist was very welcoming and personable and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. i would stay here again and recommend this place if looking at te anau. we arrived from queenstown by car, spent the night and got up early for the great drive to milford sound. we stayed a second night before moving on. book the unit with the spa bath! bliss.

It is a very good choice for staying here in Te Anau. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. It was easy to get everywhere in Te Anau from this hostel. The kitchen in my room was easy to use and the hot water in my bathroom was stable. Much information was available in a pamphlet in my room. Every pick-up service was familiar with here so it was easy to book all trips around. However, the sound-proof was terrible. If some people stayed next to you kept chatting until midnight, you would have to listen to them instead of falling asleep.

My husband and i originally booked for 1 night and extended it to 3 nights, unfortunately we had to move on to our next town or would have stayed a week.Room was huge with two queen beds and new bathroom. Price was 125NZ per night with full buffet breakfast for two. Reception staff ( Jo ) absolutely fabulous, extremely helpful. Walked down the hill in 5 minutes and we where in the centre of town.Highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hosts, couldn't have been more welcoming. They seemed genuinely interested in what you were up to and happily offered advice about the best places to visit, sights to see, routes to take and places to eat. Also as a nice surprise - breakfast was fully included. Home-made exquisite continental breakfast and cooked meal. Welcome drinks and cookies were also offered. Setting was beautiful, with big open windows looking out into the mountains and fields. One of the best places I've stayed at, wish I could have stayed at least three nights.

Stayed only one night. Owner is a very nice guy, talked with him at length about the area. Rooms are dated, but kept in nice shape. Bathroom was redone in our room, though, and was nice. You can walk across the town green to the "downtown" area. In general a nice, small motel typical of NZ, but on the older side, which is reflected in the price. Just about the best dollar/value place we found in NZ South Island other than a campsite.

It was our best stay in NZ in all 22 days of our travel. The couple who owned the place was among the best innkeepers in NZ. We appreciated their hospitality and the fantastic breakfast every morning before starting our days of adventure. I hope Janice and Lindsey will continue to do well in the future endeavours and we wish them the best of luck. Do not forget ethel (the pet dog) too.

We booked a suite for 4 adults, and in the pictures clearly shown that there is a small kitchen complete with microwave. But we are given a room WITHOUT a kitchen, and to change to the one shown in picture, the receptionist required an additional NZD35. Otherwise, the room is quite ok. There is a common area with spacious kitchen and dining tables. WiFi is limited to 500MB per person but only available at the common area. You can buy an additional unlimited internet but don't bother because it is super slow and can't be accessed from the room. I like facilities, they provide space for washing your car & picnic area. Location is good.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment was clean, fresh and comfortable although it was obvious the hotel was old and had been refurbished. It is very well located in Invercargill with an easy walk to local restaurants and cafes. I wouldn't rate this as a 4 star hotel, perhaps 3.5 stars would be more like it. Ample free internet access, cheap easy secure parking (NZD5 per night).

My mother and I stay at Arran Motel for the Milford Sound trip. There are so many good things to say about this Motel. 1) Russell the owner is very welcoming, friendly and kind. 2) Russell is very generous. I booked for a double room that only cost me $186.41 for 2 nights. Upon check-in, He upgraded my room to one bedroom unit without asking for additional payment. 3) The 1 bedroom unit is warm and very spacious. Bed are very comfortable. Bedroom comes with closet and dressing table. 4) The toilet looks new and spotless clean with flash looking shower glasses. Good running hot shower. 5) The kitchen are spotless clean & well equiped. 6) There is a single bed, couch and dining table in the open plan lounge that sharing the space with the kitchen. 6) There is a single bed, couch and dining table in the lounge which is joining with the kitchen. Russell and his wife has put so much effort to make this motel a comfortable place for their guest to stay. We had a very good rest and sleep after the early morning trip to Milford Sound. This is our best motel stay experience for this holiday. I highly recommend this motel. Thank you so much Russell and wife.

The room has the most well equipped kitchenette among all the motels I've stayed in. The male staff who received us was most helpful and friendly. However the room is in serious need for a modern facelift and refurnishing. The toilet is tucked away in an enclosed space next to the bath area and it looks really odd and out of place. Bathroom heater is old and noisy when in use. The hot and cold taps are really challenging to use - you either risk scalding your hands or freezing them. Door does not shut tight and knocks against the ledge when strong wind blows. Bed and linen feel like they've been in use for a while and time for replacement. Location and wifi cnnection was OK.

Staying at the lovely Blue Thistle Cottages really centered our amazing visit to Te Anau. We were so awed by Lake Te Anau and exploring the Glowworm Caves and the drive to Milford and the Milford Cruise and being able to return in the afternoons and evenings to Blue Thistle Cottage allowed us to soak in all that was amazing about that area. The Cottages are well appointed, with quality linens and comfortable beds. The owners are very friendly and approachable with good communication leading up to our stay. Best of all is the peaceful, pastoral setting of the cottages, with amazing views over the Lake and to the mountains. What a stay.

A very good experience from the time we step into the reception. Greeted by the manager - Andy and was a superb experience of taking care of our needs to show us the accomodation & to ensure we have our trip to Milford Sound covered the next day . Even a gentle reminder late evening that I had forgotten to book my cruise . Andy gave every detail required from time of departureto places to stop and see and great photography timing . Much appreciated as it made our journey complete and hazzle free . Thank you Andy !

We booked 2 twin sharing rooms. The room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Guests are required to remove their pillow case, bed flat sheet and blanket sheet when check out. This ensure that new ones are replaced For the next guest. There is a very big shared kitchen facilities for the guests to use. It would be great if the hostel provides oil, salt and pepper for cooking. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

We were upgraded to a deluxe double and the staff was very helpful. The room was very clean and spacious with cooking facilities. Quiet and cool at night time very suitable for light sleeper like me. 15 GB wifi is provided and very fast internet! Located in the center of Invercargill which is very convenient. It was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely come back again!
