Where to stay in Tasman Region
Tasman Region hotels & accommodations

We were due to spend a day in Abel Tasman National Park but due to extreme weather we were unable to do any activities. This hotel was a great respite in the storm - lovely room, brilliant and HUGE spa, and the staff were exceedingly helpful at checking weather and road closures along our route for our onward journey. Very close to town and easy access to shops etc.

The kea studio was perfect for us. The bed was comfortable and had everthing we needed including a bbq. The owner was very hospitable and knowledgable about the area. He even helped us make a camp fire which was marvellous under the stars. Highly recommend if you are in Murchison or Nelson lakes area. I

The location is perfect for day tours in the Abel Tasman Nationalparc. The staff is very helpful and nice. The restaurant in the resort services really good food. But you should be aware that only vegetarian stuff is available. It was absolutely ok for us and tasted deliciously. We had only one problem during our 1 night stay - the hot water in the shower didn `t work ...

The lady that meet me was really lovely but the man (I think her son) was not very friendly and very rude to the lady (don't speck to your mother that way). The room was lovely and the cleanest have seen for a motel, I am use to staying in top class places in big city's and Abby court was cleaner that them. Bed was super cuddly. Thank you for wonderful stay.

The Station House Motel in Collingwood was a great place to stay because it’s located in the centre of town and the staff are very friendly and helpful! I had a suite of rooms in the front and sun streamed in each morning. The beach is a short stroll away. The bed was extremely comfortable. There is a dining table and tea, coffee making facilities along with a toaster....

The location, the lodge and as well this place as a base for trips to the Abel Tasman NP are great! However, if it would be possible to spend additional stars for the host, we would spend another 5 stars for Steve. He gave us a lot of helpful tips for exellent trips in the NP. But more important, he gave us a great support when the road back to Nelson was blocked a...

Booked on. whim but found it one of the most enjoyable motels I've stayed at for a very long time. Private with wonderfully appointed basic rooms and bathrooms. Fabulous welcome and nothing too much trouble. This is a 5 star place for those who want quiet, privacy, comfort and the best welcome I've received in many years. Highly recommended. and I will be going back.

We enjoyed our stay at Wildcat Motel. We would have stayed longer if we had time. 6 units there - probably would class as a 3 star motel. The owner/manager was extremely helpful & friendly & gave us tips on what to visit in the locality. The Motel is quite a way out of Takaka town at Clifton but the seafront is just across the road. It's easy parking in Takaka for...

Can recommend this place very highly for anyone who values personalised service - with a smile and warm words - and great hospitality. Rooms are comfortable and workable (and warm) - and the lodge restaurant / bar / relaxing areas are really nice - however it is the hands on welcoming service that really makes this place where the owners and hotel team go out of their ...

My daughter and I were traveling through the South Island and loved our stay at Summerspring. The hosts were accommodating and made our stay very enjoyable. The apartment was lovely and the hot tub under the stars was amazing. Private, secluded and on the waterfront. Perfect!

It’s a great place for Abel Tasman as sits right by entrance of the National Park. The cabin we stayed in was cute and nicely decorated. There was a small kitchen outside that we used which was a great place to sit because of the views. It lacked cooking equipment but I think this was because it was mainly for camper vans/campers as there was a bigger kitchen, howeve...

We took our 2 and 5 year old girls for a family weekend away. We found the cottage comfortable and warm. It had a fairly well equipped kitchen so we could self cater some of our meals. The cottage is a short (10 min) stroll to the Pohara beach, shop pubs and cafes. We think the sandcastles was great value for money and we will likely be back in summer for a stay!

The motel is tucked away on a quiet street. When I checked in the lady could not find the room key and suggested that it might have been left in the door! it wasn't so she gave me another. On reflection, I should have asked to change to another room as we were uncomfortable that a door key was missing. The room was very small and it was a struggle to get our bags in, ...

We planned our overnight stop Murchison purely to break up a long drive. But after visiting Philip and Daphne in their cosy lodge we were sad to have to get back on the road the next day and felt we'd done ourselves a great injustice not staying longer. The most welcoming hosts with a well equipped, intimate lodge. We were privileged to be the only guests this particu...

The best accommodation we've had throughout our 3 weeks stay in NZ. The room is very clean, have everything we need. Allan and Lisa were more than accommodating and was very helpful. The jacuzzi after a day's hike is a bonus. Great value for money! Near town center. I don't find any negative thing to say. Highly recommended! Thanks Allan and Lisa

The room was spacious with extra sleeping beds available. We had a sofa and TV with kitchenette and basic bathroom, but with everything we needed. The units are opposite the pool, but as we were out during the day, we didn't notice any noise. It was quiet at night. The staff were very helpful when we wanted to book some Abel Tasman adventures.

Prices were way too high for the cabins. We know that it was high season being on New Year's Eve, but an increase of 78% to the displayed price at the entrance is way too much, especially for the kind of accommodation. We also had to pay extra for the towels and you need to put coins in the shower for hot water. Everything has to be paid for, including the BBQ. I would...

This was a unique experience. We arrived mid November. It was well equipped but it was cold in the morning. Would have helped to have had a heater in the tent. Appreciated how the owner was self sufficient and all that the property had to offer but at that time of year it was not the best. At bit expensive for what we got. Did recommend this place to someone we...
