Traveling to Indonesia? Find West Papua hotels

This was honestly one of the BEST resorts I’ve stayed in so far. We were the ONLY one staying in this whole resort for 4 nights which was good but scary as well. On Agoda and booking.com they show “sold out” or “last room left”. That’s all false. It’s never sold out and Incase it’s showing sold out then you can contact the property directly to book a room. Staff were amazing, Kind and very helpful especially Rachael At the restaurant area and Windy the manager. Their airport pick-up and drop-off service is great. A driver named Oniel picked me up from the airport and dropped me off at the ferry terminal. He was so nice and even though he didn’t speak the best English, he still loved to learn new words. I was then picked up by the resort staff from the terminal who brought me to the resort. Rooms especially sea view were amazing. It was very cozy and the feeling there was natural and refreshing. However the A.C in the room wasn’t good. It didn’t throw out air properly and it was warm most of the time. Beds weren’t comfy at all. Woke up with back pain everyday. Bathroom was big and clean. However there were no amenities in the bathroom except dental kit but that’s fine. Chris the receptionist is new here and he doesn’t know anything about the resort or trips to other islands etc. make sure to talk to Windy only. Food they served was good for the 1st 2 days but after that the food was horrible (especially Lunch and dinner) but breakfast was good during the last day. There are a LOT of mosquitos here so make sure to bring either a mosquito repellent cream or mosquito repellent band. The beach was great. Stunning views. Unfortunately I couldn’t go to any of the islands I planned to like Piaynemo island since I was the only one here and I couldn’t afford the cost for 1 person. We had a fantastic 7 days for our honeymoon. It's important to have the right expectations: if you're looking for a 5 star hotel this is not the place, but if you want to live close to nature then it definitely is. We stayed in the eco bungalow: nights are sweaty & damp, shower has slightly salty water and you won't find a fan nor A/C, but this is part of the charm! You wake up and see fish, (small) sharks, turtles swimming around your room, you can dive straight in! Limited connectivity allows you to focus on yourself, your books and Raja Ampat. The owner, ibu Rika, is a wonderful person and was very helpful throughout. The staff are very friendly. Food was local and excellent. Excursions were great, the manta ray sighting was a highlight as was Mushroom Island. We did not dive, but we heard it was great, snorkelling was amazing in and of itself. Raja Ampat isn’t cheap and frankly shouldn’t be. It’s a jewel and we hope fervently it will not be destroyed by mass tourism.

Nice hotel, clean, close to airport. Food. 2 star in my opinion. But when you have 3 pairs of socks, 6 underwear, 4 tee shirts, a swim suit, 1 shorts. Two trouser cleaned for the same cost of the room. DONT DO LAUNDRY THERE. Papua is not cheap. The room was good value. Everything else way over priced. Unfortunately the laundry killed my review. No way should that cost the same amount as the room. 5 star Hilton doesn't charge that much.

Good things: Breakfast included, free transfer to ferry port if you book via Agoda, clean and spacious room, staff were excellent and very helpful, huge comfortable bed, food places nearby Bad things: No hand wash basin in room, no hot water, lots of mosquitos in room which were quickly eradicated by using an insect spray they provide (it would have been nice if they had done this before my arrival). Overall I would recommend ☺

Apart from the friendly and very helpful English speaking front desk staff, and the large menu modern restaurant, and the suitably equipped room, everything was just fabulous. l had a foot infection so the staff took me to to the Medical Clinic just around the corner. Which l recommend and are well equipped. Then taken back to hotel. Awesome staff! As a solo traveler, l felt very safe and well looked after. l stayed 2 nights. l would definitely stay here on my next visit.

The hotel location was good, good to get out to walk or easy to catch taxis from. Seafood market right opposite at night. Breakfast was very average, eggs cold, breakfast you would get in a 2 star hotel. Bar staff had no clue and no one willing to help or serve in bar. Rooms small but if you are not staying all your time in the room they were fine. They were clean and comfortable and suited our need which was a stopover before a diving trip. I would stay again though, if going on a diving holiday, just dont have high expectations.

Seclusion from the hubbub of Sorong with royalty treatment by kind staff. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with juice drinks. A short ride to our condo-style accommodations, and we had peace and quiet for hours. Room service took about an hour, but food was good. The television had 2 channels in English to entertain us; the shower was hot & divine, and the king-sized bed was amazing after months of traveling. Last, the free ride to the airport was timely. No complaints.

at first they gave us a terrible dark smelly little room with no windows and a leaky toilet and then when we complained they gave us a much better bigger room upstairs with a big window overlooking the street. We could find nothing to do in Sorong ( this place is Soo - Wrong ) except walk to the shopping mall ) so we stayed in the room all day and read a book. It was just a 1 day stopover waiting to join a boat trip in Raja Ampat which is fantastic ! You & Me is cheap and close to the airport and friendly staff so good for a stopover!

We stayed in Belagri before and after our diving holiday in Raja Ampat. The hotel is not huge but it is comfortable. We booked deluxe room which is very spacious and comfortable. I suggest to try their Indonesian menu because the taste is delicious - our recommendation is Oxtail soup and Mie Goreng (Fried Noodle). The hotel is also located close to Ramayana clothing store and Batik Papua souvenir store. You can ask the small minivan (public transport) - the empty ones - to bring you there for less than 30000 IDR (do not pay more than 30000 IDR).

Let me start with the pros first. The cottages are right above the crystal clear water and very nicely furnished. You can relax on the porch which gives you stunning views. Best, most civilised bathroom on the entire island. Wonderful service from "Mama Koki" and her staff. Location is more on the quiet side of the island. Unfortunately, there are cons. Guests must drop off at the side of the road before carrying their luggage through some rough, unpaved track. Please travel lightly if you are considering this hotel. Worse still, were the non-functioning air conditioners. We booked all 2 cottages and both suffered the same problem. It was not rectified throughout our 3-night stay. A major disappointment.

Our trip in Sorong is about  3 weeks and we lived this hotel nearly a week.  Comparing with other local hotel we lived, this one is said to be the best hotel in Sorong downtown. Though Mr Henry is the Duty Manager of this hotel, he performs so hard that he often attends at the Reception Counter to face to those customers who need assistance.  It is no exception to us.  We are by far unknown to any Indonesian language.  One of many instances is that he played as an interpreter role while we made deals with local people.  His overall working attitude towards customers is quite oriented that he works from heart.  Under his strong leadership and close supervision, staff in reception and lobby such as Ms Sisca and Ms Ai also show sympathetic attitude and give aids to those customers needed.  Management of hotel may stick to the hard-and-fast rules, but he runs smoothly as he handles cases in a flexible way.  Room facilities are all in good condition, but it lacks twin beds in standard room with no window. Deluxe room are great! If you stay there longer, you can try to ask Herny Manager upgrade your room type.

From the outset of my stay, I was made very welcome and it was clear that making guests' stays memorable is at the heart of everything the resort does. The staff were amazing and really made my time there special particularly Rey the owner and Zoe and Jan who manage the resort. The location is perfect for diving with many spectacular dive sites a short boat ride away. Dives are well planned and really cater to the level of experience of the individual diver. Venky, the dive guide has an incredible knowledge of the reefs and a very keen eye for finding the tiniest of sea life. For those not diving, or for those who wish to spend some time on the surface, there is a lovely beach to relax on or, for those looking for something else, you can opt to rent a kayak or go bird watching. The beachfront bungalows, perfectly located close to the beach with a lovely view of the sea are simply and comfortably furnished. They are traditionally made and very much in keeping with the Ecological philosophy of the resort. It was wonderful to drift off to sleep at night listening to the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. Each bungalow has a porch with its own hammock to relax in and there are comfortable sun beds located around the resort. The resort has been very well planned and it's layout allows the natural flora and fauna to flourish and so there was a real array of birds around in the trees. The food was to die for! As a vegetarian, I often find that my needs are not well catered for. Here, the food was incredible and not just for the vegetariarians as there were freshly cooked meat and fish dishes on offer too. Overall, I cannot speak highly enough of this resort and hopefully, I will be able to return soon.

I stayed in Pandawa for my first and last night in Raja Ampat. Good food and very nice to have a hot shower after a week of kayaking. Rooms could be cleaner and the karaoke was going on late into the night but the couple running the place is lovely and I was very well looked after. I asked for a diving trip to be arranged and had a fantastic day with experienced dive masters, the hotel also arranged my transport to and from the island with a guide meeting me in Jakarta. Very convenient. However, if you visit Raja Ampat make sure you also go to one of the remote home stays to fully benefit from the pristine nature and exposure to local culture.

This was by far the best holiday ive had all year! Words cannot describe how beautiful the location of this bungalow was! And how welcoming and friendly martin's family is:) They picked me up from the ferry and we went by boat to Famangkor Homestay, where i was received with a fresh coconut they had picked for me. The food was delish and with huge portions. Service was excelent! They took me fishing, organized diving for me and met all my desires. The homestay is on their own private beach on a small little island, you can walk to the village ( 10 minutes) through a scenic jungle route or walk around the coast. Its exactly what i needed, a desserted beach lined with coconut trees and a hammock to read my book while listening to the waves go by. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

On the way back from Raja Ampat I stayed the night in this family home. Don't expect any more than you got at the islands. Basic room but comfortable mattress and clean! Showers work's with the buckets. But the warm welcoming and the friendly service was perfect. I got a dinner for small money which was really good (well, fish, rice and veggies) and I spent some time to speak to the locals, which was the best experience. So....when you are not able to pay the Swiss hotel this could be an good option..
