Where to stay in Windward Islands
Windward Islands hotels & accommodations

We arrive past midnight and Rutger check us in with warm welcome and smooth, thank you very much Rutger, you're the best. Beautiful view specially the sunset from this hotel is amazing, highly recommended specially for short stay passing thru Papeete.

I had an overnight stop in Tahiti enroute to Bora Bora. This hotel provided the perfect respite. I arrived into Papeete at 11:00pm. As you exit the airport you can see the large neon hotel sign just across the parking lot. It's a climb up a few flights of stairs, across a road, and up a very steep driveway so if you have a ton of luggage it might be best to hire a ...

best location, right by the ferry and water front. Food trucks, coffee shop, and market all within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and the rooms have a/c which is great with the humidity. I was alone on this trip and felt very safe in with the hotel as well as around the neighborhood. Clean, rooms were nice, and bed was comfy. I will stay here again on m...

This was a great find if you are looking to stay in downtown Papeete on a budget! Very nice hotel right on the harbor front with tons of restaurants and shopping a block away. The rooms are clean, air conditioning works great, TV has only 5 channels, hair dryer in desk drawer, island ferry to Moorea 3 blocks away, Tahiti Tourist Bureau & Papeete Market 2 blocks away,...

During our 10 days stay in Tahiti, we stayed in 6 different hotels, and Hilton Moorea is the best among all. The lagoon is fantastic, the food is great, and the facilities are better than others. The only negative side, that they had a compulsory Christmas dinner policy which they did not inform us before. They published the information on their website, however m...

Staff, are excellent, especially restaurant. Fantastic TAHITI show, the best of all the islands we visited. Polynesian buffet fantastic, but also expensive. Again the best of all the islands we visited. Good local bus service from outside the hotel to PAPPETTE, and around the island. Lots of restaurants around the hotel, but hotel better value for money for food. We st...

For the price, I was really impressed with the Moorea Sunset Beach Residence. We booked the basic 1 bedroom with a lagoon view, and the interior seemed fairly newly renovated and very clean. I also loved the utility of having a kitchenette. The location is spectacular; it is only a few steps away from the beach, where you can conveniently rent kayaks, paddles boards, a...

We stayed at the Royal Tahitien for four nights in late March 2014. We stayed in a large 2nd floor room which had an ocean view overlooking the grounds of the hotel from the balcony and a view toward the mountains from the entrance door. The room had twin beds which could be converted to a king, a/c mini fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV with only F...

Tamas, the owner, was extremely helpful and nice! On the terrace, we watched perhaps the most beautiful sunsets from all our trips in French Polynesia and afterwards, the sky full of stars. Feeling at ease and enjoying wonderful nature and the company of other nice people staying at the hotel! I would recommend to have a car though, although anywhere in Moorea it woul...

This was my first over the water bungalow stay and it was incredible. From the moment we walked in to check-in, we were treated wonderfully. And although the resort was full, it felt so peaceful and quiet all the time. The breakfast was the best I’ve ever had ANYWHERE! The room was breathtaking...waking up every morning and opening the curtains to that view was exquisi...

We loved our stay here. We actually caught the 7.30am ferry over to Moorea and had no expectations that we would be able to check into our bungalow until later but the amazingly staff had it ready for us within 15 minutes. We were in garden view bungalow number 4 which was about 5 rows back from the beach but that suited us fine as you didn’t have people constantly wal...

Main pool was under construction. Water in front of property isn't really nice, go elsewhere. Rooms are a bit outdated. Don't worry about location, restaurants pickup for free. Very neutral about the place overall. The best thing about any place in Tahiti including this place are the locals. You'll never meet as friendly and honest people as them.

We stayed here for 3 nights before departing for the other islands on our honeymoon! This is one of the best places I've ever stayed and I've been to over 35 countries! It is expensive as we stayed in an overwater bungalow but worth every cent! If you want luxury with the best service and views this is must! Just a tip! If you order the American breakfast room service ...

Kaveka is a simple resort but I found it amazing! It's nestled near the front of Cooks Bay:the views of the bay are stunning, even more out of this world when there's clouds and mist. Staff were lovely and helpful and would go out of their way to assist with info/booking tours etc Tim puts a smile on every guests face each day with his friendly manner. He brought me a b...

Wow we sure we're impressed with our host arranging out pick up at the airport which was fantastic as we arrived at midnight and having a 1 hour drive at that time of night is definitely a big challenge! Great value for the money. This was the best accommodations we’ve had in a while. The villa is very nice, with its own private beach and private little pool. The garden is weary nicely designed and everything has been very thought through. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Tahiti. Location is far from Papeete so a rental car is highly recommended.

I loved Motu Iti, hands down. You just need to realize that it’s not the Hilton (which is next door), or the Intercontinental. Temper your expectations and realize you’re staying literally 5 feet away from an ocean in a pretty decent bungalow. Auguste, Dora and the whole staff are great. They genuinely want you to have a great experience at Motu Iti. I can’t say enou...

Wonderful hosts, happy to include us in trips to the bank, grocery, etc. Great location next to the Hilton, but also with its own private beach. Our bungalow was large with full kitchen. Think beach house or summer cabin. Nice common room for relaxation. We enjoyed a trrrific meal, reasonably priced, made by Jean and his family. If you want luxury, go to the Hilton, ...

Nice place to stay, rooms a bit hot (no AC), great breakfast, friendly host, fully equipped kitchen, you can borrow complete snorkeling equipment for free. Public beach is close (600m), but we preferred Vaiava beach (great snorkeling), which is much nicer, but it's 1,2km walk under the Polynesian sun. 14km from the Airport, so no problem if you have a car, or else give...

I spent 7 days, last week of July, at the Fare Teruahupe at Ha’apiti on Moorea and it was truly great. It is on the really quiet side of Moorea only 20 minutes drive from the ferry terminal. Elda and her husband were really nice and I felt welcome immediately. Elda brought me a bottle of water and there was a bottle of wine for me in the fridge also. She enquired if I ...

You have just arrived in French Polynesia after a long overnight flight and you want to experience the real Moorea...forget about all these big resorts that lack personality and go to Fenua Mata'i'oa instead. Sadly, we were just staying one night because our flight landed too late to catch the last Moorea ferry and we were committed to a very early ferry the following morning. So didn't have a chance to experience the tasty looking breakfast offering, or other facilities. But our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Add to that complimentary shuttle service to/...

One of Anita's beautiful daughters picked us up at the Aremiti Ferry Terminal, and patiently waited while we shopped at a supermarket. This was necessary as we were staying 3 days and the location of the guesthouse is up a mountain, great views but not handy to shopping. The house itself is gorgeous. Anita, who is from the Austral Islands, is very artistic, and very...

Thierry and Katia were great hosts and really made an effort to engage with us despite our lack of French or Tahitian! The fruit from their surrounding orchard was magnificent and there were plenty of amenities close by. The surf was a little large for novice longboarders such as us, but I'm sure seasoned surfers would love it and the break is super close. It's not a w...

We stayed two nights at this hotel in the centre of Tahiti. If you wish to experience the centre of Tahiti on your own, this is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are basic, but clean and very quiet. Staff are enourmously hospitable and really care. We organised transfer with them by email - everything worked well and they picked us up in the centre of Papeete. The j...

We stayed 4 nights with our two year old. He loved the rooftop pool and we enjoyed the sweeping views of Pape`ete. I got there after midnight, the owner request my flight number so she new I would be late. The helpful taxi driver was making phone calls for an hour trying to get her out of bed. Very kind hosts, Alex and Tea, went above and beyond to help me navigate the island -- made arrangements for a local restaurant to come pick me up for dinner (!) and also called the local bus operator AND the owner of other pensione I was staying at later in the week to make transfer arrangements. After two in FP, I wanted a place close to, but not in, Papatee or the airport. This location served well, no congestion. Peaceful, the lagoon off thei Dock is like an aquarium. Got one last kayak, thru a reef, and snorkel in. Enjoyed the pool and rested up for the long journey back to the US

Studio is not as pictured on site. Studio is in an old, tired building which was difficult to find. The owner was out of town but luckily had a very nice friend pick us up. Studio itself is poorly maintained and in need of repair. For instance, the shower hose holder. was broken One had to hold it in one hand leaving only the other to wash with. Smelled bad; cle...
