Yorkshire and the Humber,England hotels & accommodations
Thank you to the night shift Manager on 01/04/2013. His name is Steve if I am not wrong. Dedicated and passionated. He helped us to plan our trip to Yorkshire by using public transport. Thumbs up. Breakfast was good and free. In house resturant serve good meal at all times. Price is reasonable. An alternative for you if you dont feel like going out after a long day sig...
My stay at the HIlton was as expected to be fair. Check in was very fast and very helpful, typical Hilton type room all you need very clean good however, this is nothing to do with the staff or the property, just the Hilton brand, only internet was in room through BT web site, silly money did not bother! do not use many hotels in UK because of these type of charges plu...
Ideal for a stay in the Bradford area. We travelled around the area during the weekend. I would recommend the Aakash restaurant in cleckheaton for a good Indian meal, but it is best to book as it was very busy. Hotel facilities were very good, there is a gym and swimming pool. We would definitely stay here again.
Friendly staff made our stay feel extra special. The only negative was the lack of communication between the agoda automated booking form and the hotel. Agora states the twin room can be booked with a large double bed on request. I did request it and despite emails assuring me as such I was told upon arrival that they have NEVER had a double Bed in a twin room. So I h...
Marmadukes is a very nearly excellent hotel. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The staff are friendly and the location is great for town and access to the motorway. Breakfast was also great. The reason I say this is a 'nearly excellent' hotel, is that the attention to detail is not quite there. Only minor things like lightbulbs missing and a coup...
We had had an unfortunate booking at another hotel which we decided not to stay. This was booked the day before. The room was beautiful. Well equipped. The lady who was cleaning the room was superb. Very helpful and friendley. I was on crutches and so asked if we would like to change room to A ground floor. Wish we had booked for the whole 3 days we stayed in york.
The staff could not of made us more welcome. We have forgotten our Blackberry charger and the young guy on the Reception let us borrow his own. This was a very nice gesture and had a real home from home feel which you rarely get from BIG CHAIN hotels so very well done Novotel Sheffield. The hotel was also very clean.... and I am very picky but could not fault it. P...
It was such lovely building with a lot of original Victorian fittings and very clean. Vicky on reception/bar was lovely and an asset to the b&b brand. The room was spacious and had additional slides across the window to drown out of very little noise there was on this quiet little cul-de-sac. The walk from the city centre was very direct and the b&b was easy to find. T...
-Best location (very close to York station, city center) -Cheap but not comprosing quality -Spaceous room -Private space with individual bed-curtains and lamp - I loved it the most! -Quality breakfast for only 3.5 pound -Free luggage storage I would stay there if I visit York again and I wish other hostels in other cities are like Safestay york.
Went expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised, apart from the 1 hour waiting time for check in it wasnt too bad we only booked a budget room with no window but it was great, nice and quiet and dark, no waking up at first light with noisy seagulls. We didnt eat at the hotel but prices seemed quite reasonable and not over inflated like other hotel chains do, and ...
I was over in Leeds for one night with a group of 6 lads for the match. The hotel was in a perfect location, great spot, great bars and restaurants around. The staff were so helpful, they were always there to help and so friendly. The hotel was so clean and 2 of the 3 rooms were upgraded to Executive twin rooms. The breakfast was amazing, I have traveled the world and ...
It was a very pleasant stay in a very central location, a few yards from the Minster. It is therefore extremely noisy, but reasonably quiet during the night. It is right in the middle of everything and so perfect for sightseeing generally and the Minster and shopping specifically. The food is really good, but that means it's very difficult to get a table at any reasona...
We regularly visit Leeds and this is the best hotel we've stopped in so far. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was stunning. The location is perfect for an evening out in Leeds. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that.
Location is great: Half way between the station and York Minster. We got a room overlooking the river and beautiful views of York Minster. Room was modern with USB sockets, and efficient with space (no wardrobes but shelves and hooks instead). Disappointed to find the bathroom bin had not been emptied and was full to the brim - we told the staff on checking out and the...
Within walking distance of the Minster, the Lamb & Lion is a welcoming stop in the interesting and picturesque city of York. We enjoyed several meals and without exception they were delicious and well priced. When there was an unexpected problem in our bathroom we were quickly moved to their best room available. Definitely a hotel to return to.
Arrived mid afternoon. Checked into the car park opposite hotel (30 yards) underneath railway viaducts. Reasonable rates. Quick 'check in' and a Doubletree Choc chip biscuit biscuit into the bargain. Room was spacious, bright and modern. All mod cons in room (including free internet). Book a high floor if possible - Great views over the city. If you get a rat...
It's a very nice property. Our room was great and the bed was typical of a good hotel, super comfy. However, the bathroom seemed dated and water pressure a bit pathetic. Lobby was nice, couple of restaurants downstairs. Pool and gym were good. The weights in the gym were all over the place, kind of annoying considering I was first in the morning but otherwise it had ...
This is mostly a hotel for business users. The breakfast was nice though and the room was clean as you can get. Fantastic haddock and chips in the restaurant. Internet was expensive at ten quid a night and very slow.
Best budget bnb just outside Bradford. Due to base at service you can do lunch/ breakfast from burger king or subway . Whsmith is 24 hrs.
Stay here. Period. The value for the money was unbeatable, especially considering the location- nestled in the old city center, practically in the shadow of the cathedral- as well as the amenities and the wonderful staff. We had not just a room but an entire floor (bedroom, toilet, shower, full kitchen) to ourselves. Whether this was due to luck or is house policy, I...
We were greeted extremely politely and were able to check in a couple of hours early which was very handy. The staff helped us to our room and were extremely friendly. The room was extremely clean and very nice, with a large bathroom and bathtub. There was free drinking water in the fridge and the shower/bath always had hot water! This hotel is located right in the cen...
Very nice hotel. Cheap and cheerful with bar and restaurant. Local tesco and a few shops close by, lovely friendly staff, we stayed for 2 nights and it met our needs. We got public transport from Leeds City centre which ran frequently. I have knocked a star of the cleanliness as there was a huge white stain on my daughters runner on her bed which we noticed straight aw...
Lovely staff who went out of their way to provide us a quiet room away from some loud customers. Amazing breakfast! Good room but a little on the smelly side. Carpet needed cleaning, the walls were dirty and the sink in the en-suite was smelly. But it was good value for money. Quiet on the night time to sleep. Car parking straight across the road which was fairly cheap...
Flying Visit....quick check in before going to the Wedding just out of town and didn't return until Midnight. The room was beautiful, the bed very comfortable and the views were fantastic over the 'modern' city of Sheffield ...my only disappointment was I didn't spend enough time in the hotel!!!
Very friendly accommodating staff who made sense of our confusing booking (we're a band on the road with guests showing at different times and days), they adjusted everything accordingly and couldn't help enough. Breakfast was awesome, lots of choice. Town is a four five minute stroll or a taxi for a few pounds. Comfy beds and nice and quiet. Will definitely stay agai...
The hotel is not the best looking from the outside, but once you're inside it is everything you would expect from a Hilton Hotel. We stayed in a standard room that was a good size and very comfortable with plenty of storage space, 32" tv, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdrier, iron, ironing board and safe. All staff - receptionists, waiting-on staff etc. were ver...
Perfect location for visiting Hull. Clean and rooms are reasonable for the price. Do not pay £13-45 for breakfast it’s really really bad!! Breakfast is served until 9-30 and I went down at 8-40. Very limited selection and food was cooked appallingly like really the worst breakfast I’ve ever had and cold. Waited 15 mins for staff to get coffee. It wasn’t even busy so n...
Hotel is ideally located about 10 minutes from centre of York and about 7 minutes from train station. It is easy to find being on a main route in/out of the city. The rooms are of a good size, clean and the bathroom and shower facilities are adequate. The staff were very friendly and there were no issues checking in 2 hours before the official check in time. Te car...
I was in the UK to visit my son and daughter in law following the arrival of my first grandchild. The accommodation was clean however there were times when the bedroom was rather chilly. I was disappointed in the breakfast self service and the food was not really very hot. The dreaded toast machine either under cooked or burnt the toast black. The staff were wonderfu...
Cheap places to stay in Yorkshire and the Humber,England
I had to find somewhere near Keighley to stay for a night on short notice, and the YHA came to the rescue. Fantastic value for money, a great building, helpful staff, good beds and facilities, and a friendly cat. Can't fault it! Joining the YHA today as a result.
We went with a family of 2 small children and 3 adults (1 of which, a senior). The hostel was initially hard to find as it didn't particularly have any signage towards it. We ended up walking ALL around with our luggages before finding the entrance and realising that we didn't need to walk that way. We had our own simple showers and toilets. (You get what you pay for)...

I fairly centrally located right by cathedral in a quiet cul de sac . The main square being a 10-15 easy walk away. There was parking also on site. It is a lovely building , very large communal kitchen /eating . The whole hostel was very clean. Bunk bed was comfortable and all bedding clean and fresh. Staff very polite and friendly. I am actually up in Beverley again n...
I would definitely pay extra for a B and B. Staying at the YHA hawes cost £55 for a bunk bedded twin room and sink, no towel that was extra, breakfast was £7.50 each. Check inn was a stupidly late 5pm, room was sparse to say the least, window had no handle on it to close from the wind or security (ground floor). I just feel for £20-£30 extra a B and B is well worth t...

We stayed at YHA York for 2 nights and had a nice experience. We booked a room for 2 people with a bunk bed. Everything was clean and in good condition, except they didn't provide towels (we wouldn't complain on this since they'd already notified in advance). Wifi was accessible in the room. You might have to climb as there's no lift. The hostel is not far from the Y...
Clean, comfortable and only 10 minutes in a taxi to the city centre. Great price for a nights stay. Would definitely recommend.
my room was private double. which was clean nice and warm which was importaint as this febuary , the only problem was it was next to reception with a curtain covered wall to ceiling window wich you heard all conversation through dsy and night
This was a very good hostel in a central area. The staff was very friendly and they tell you the best things to do in the local area.
Eileen, attending a craft fair, I recommended South Dene to another for her next craft fair
The whole place was extremely clean& tidy; the staff were great; being out of season there was only table d'hote menu available so we went to a nearby Chinese restaurant recommended to us by the hotel manager, however we did have breakfast; we were the last people down but the breakfast was still hot & well cooked. The only down side was that the bed was extremely un...
It was a pleasant stay at Gilson Hotel but I was very disappointed when they told me that I need to pay for Wifi internet . When i booked the hotel , it was clearly stated that wifi is provided and i do not need to pay for Wifi . Otherwise , breakfast was tasty and they have a lot of friendly staffs .
The postive aspects of the hotel the bed is comfortable , towels and soap provided this was good for me as ii forget mine. You can entertain yourself with TV, tea and coffee in room. And overall very clean and less noice i selpt well.
What a view
Needs more items in room like a pencil or a hairdryer
It is what you'd expect for the price but in a good way; if you need a bed for the night it does the trick and the room was very clean and tidy. The staff are very welcoming as well. The car park is quite big even though it was quite stormy and there was some mud getting out from he car in places it was still good not to have to wander around looking for parking.
i was checking in late so i needed a contact number, rang their contact number online 5 times, dead line, no other numbers found i paid online beforehand for a double room, turned up to the hotel and he tried telling me to pay again so I had to show my bank statement before he believed me I then got given a room, went up to find it was a twin room. Went back down to ...
A very nice 2 night stay at the Village however, please see below a few problems encountered - 1. As I have detailed above very good breakfast choice, but only 3 or 4 people working in the breakfast room and you had to wait to be greeted and name crossed off on the breakfast list and we waited 10mins just to be seated but I did notice several people waiting considerab...
The staff were all welcoming and friendly from the start to the end of the visit. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble to ensure a pleasant and relaxing stay
The room was very clean and warm and to be able to make a drink in the room was really appreciated. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff especially the room maids who were really helpful and friendly. We have stayed here before and look forward to the next time.
Returning to my home city after 20 years I knew the Harley as I had often passed it. I was pleasantly surprised by the quirkyness of the place and the lack of uniforms, bow ties and white shirts. I love the informality and most of all the friendliness of the staff in ordinary clothing. Why can't more hotels be like this? The bed was so comfortable and soft, I could hav...
Although only £35 this is a real old style motel. Very basic accommodation with no frills. I've found out you get what you pay for.
Very nice manager very friendly and helpful did like the breakfast the downside was the tv did not work very well and heating was a bit slow at getting the room warm the manager will be looking into the issues above
Wonderful friendly welcome. Room had everything I needed, although it was a shame not all the freeview tv channels worked. Great power shower. Excellent price. Location is in the middle of a business park, but that didn't bother me at all and the hotel was extremely handy for getting onto the M1. Only issue was thin walls.
This was a lovely hotel to stay in which was kind of by itself when you look up at it from the beech. The room and all the facilities were all good and the price was really reasonable compared to nearby hotels. Id definitely recommend this hotel to a friend or anyone wanting to visit Scarborough.
Great value, friendly and spot on location. Breakfast had loads of choice - lots of fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts and traditional. Even real coffee. Great value.
4-star hotels in Yorkshire and the Humber,England
Flying Visit....quick check in before going to the Wedding just out of town and didn't return until Midnight. The room was beautiful, the bed very comfortable and the views were fantastic over the 'modern' city of Sheffield ...my only disappointment was I didn't spend enough time in the hotel!!!
All staff - receptionists, waiting-on staff etc. were ver...
We reserved two rooms. One room was quite a bit bigger than the other though the same price - super king vs double. My wife and I were sharing each room with a child as the rooms were not adjacent. I was sharing with my older son in the smaller room. I raised this and the hotel were happy to move me to a room with a larger bed. We ate in the fat badger and food was exc...
Staff were welcoming from arrival to checking out. Nothing was too much trouble and this ranges from reception staff, bar staff, staff maintaining the room and room service. The only criticism was the coffee was overpriced and under flavoured and the breakfast disappointing and 'dry'. I did not eat at the restaurant, but the salad delivered via room service was exc...
Very lovely and friendly staff. Charming rooms, old but clean and well looked after. Shower is a bit weak but not a problem. Breakfast is delicious and when the main dining room was busy you were able to eat in the bar. Great idea. Nearby pub The Feathers does really nice food and is about 20% cheaper for booze than the hotel prices at Black Swan. Great location for dr...
Best hotel in the area. Very friendly staff and very helpful
We enjoyed our stay, but the bed was rather hard and the bar menu was a bit nouveau quisine, we would have preferred a more traditional menu in the bar
Firstly The hotel is called Alder House Hotel and has been for some little time! This is confusing when using satnav and you think you have arrived at the wrong hotel. After booking in I asked the Manager a number of questions but he seemed more interested on using his pc. When asked about Tourist Information leaflets he stated HE normally uses Google (assumption that ...
Space. Properly equipped. Good location. Door closer slams a bit
I have stayed here multiple times and I have officially have decided this is my favorite home away from home when in York! The ambiance is absolutely breathtaking. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The welcome cookies make your mouth water and the location couldn’t be more perfect! A++ all around!
I was really surprised as to how good these apartments were. They are very modern in design and the beds are really comfortable. I booked a studio apartment but got a free upgrade to a two bed 2 bathroom apartment. Will be staying again.
From the moment I set foot in the hotel I was treated as a valued customer. The room was excellent, well situated with plenty of room, and the outlook was terrific... The meals, both breakfast and the Bar meals, were of a high standard...and we were never rushed or "pestered" by members of staff.
We arrived before the usual 2pm check-in time but they allowed us to check in early. Room was spacious and the bed was nice and comfy. The location of the hotel is excellent, just a short 10-minute walk to the city centre. The staff at the reception was very helpful too when we asked for tourist attractions in the city. She gave us a map of places of interest nearby. D...
Lets face it, if you are in Hull, you are probably working. This means you are not looking for 5 star luxury, just a reasonably priced, efficient and clean place to return to with reasonably sized rooms and good food close by. The Marina ticks all those boxes. Would be happy to return.
A very cosy and charming little hotel. Friendly staff and the breakfast's great. Love the reading room and the complimentary cakes and tea in there. Although a little away from the major sights, York city is pretty small so it's very walkable. Very near River Ouse so you could go for an early morning stroll. The bridge there leads to the train station so you don't nee...
It was a perfect stay. Comfortable room and the best food I've had in years!
We had a great stay! The soaker tub was fantastic and I enjoyed the toiletries provided. We didn't order room service but any time we needed something the staff were prompt and friendly. Loved that the place had AC, something we didn't see much of during our stay in the uk. Nice tv with a bunch of channels and the huge bed was super comfy. I'd definitely come back.
Luxury hotels in Yorkshire and the Humber,England
Booked two nights, room very clean and well-furnished, bed comfy. Ate in bar one night, restaurant the other. Food very good, wine and beer choice and quality is excellent. Breakfast also good, you can ask for extra helpings of whatever you want. Any problems were sorted by Ron, a great host.
Loved everything about Judges Lodging! The location was perfect, beds were comfortable, the decor of the rooms were exquisite and interesting, service staff were very friendly! The only thing I could complain of is the stairs, we got a room on the top floor and has alot of climbing to do. Other than that, Judges Lodging was perfect for us!
the apartment is near to city which has good access of restaurants, shopping and university. good place for parents who are visiting their children studying in university.
Very pleased we chose The Black Horse Inn for our stay. Our room was very large, stylish with real character, the food was excellent & all the staff were very friendly & helpful. We hadn't been to the Yorkshire moors before but the team there took time to give us their local knowledge. We will be going back in the near future.
i stayed at residence with my wife for 2 days in jun 2012. the place is bigger than the typical hotel room and is well-furnished with a small stove and toaster. it was a nice touch that some complimentary food (such as bread, jam, etc) was provided as part of the welcome package and we felt at home. there may be scope to improve the floor though, as it sounds creaky wh...
We are locals but stayed there for a family reunion. Easy to book and check in, excellent amenities in the apartment and safe, secured parking. Close to mini golf, train, a small supermarket and a pub and a cafe for food. Also just a short walk to Peasholm Park and around 15 mins walk from the centre of town. There is no food as it is self catering. But I couldn't lea...
Very comfortable and stylish bedroom and public rooms. Superb food and the staff were brilliant.
We were celebrating our 40th Anniverdary and my wife's 65th Birthday. We chose West Layton Manor for the special location and accomadation. We had booked a four-poster bedroom but were told we had been upgraded to another room. When we were shown the room ,we were disappointed that it didnt have a four-poster but had a nice garden view.We were told that if we did want a f...
Such a sweet sweet little hotel. All perfect. I loved to use the living room, wish it had a bigger table to work with computer. I will definitely stay here on my next visit.
This from beginning to end was a fabulous stay. Greeted by lovely staff. Shown around so that we knew where everything was. Taken to our rooms. Great rooms had everything you need. The staff were extremely helpful. The breakfast was lovely. Cant fault the place and would definitely recommend and stay here again.
Perfect view, nice breakfast and comfy room
My husband and had a lovely stay at the Traddock, we had a friendly greeting when we arrived and such a beautiful room. The food really let this hotel down . For my evening meal , I asked for no egg with my asparagus and didnt get hollandaise either. My chicken was so dry and I asked for two scoops of icecream instead of a listed desert which the chef apparently sai...
This is a nice hotel with a decent golf course attached and a really nice spa. Rooms are lovely and spacious with great beds. The main issue was the service. We ate in the orangery restaurant which is not cheap (£55 a head) and the food was nice and well presented but the first course took 1 1/2 hours to arrive with no apology or explanation. a full 3 course meal took ...
We stayed at 17 Burgate for one night whilst visiting the North Yorkshire Moors. We didn't spend an awful lot of time in the bed and breakfast as we were out and about, but what we did was great. The rooms were lush with all mod cons and a really comfortable bed and the en suite had bath or shower facilities. Compared to other hotels in the area 17 Burgate was very rea...
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. We had an upstairs room, it was clean, comfortable & quiet. The breakfast was 1st class. You could not want for anything else. Amy & Kate were lovely, & very helpful, & Amy even helped us out with some laundry. We would definitely stay again.
We were given a very friendly welcome from Sue, & offered homemade cake with a pot of tea or coffee once we had settled into our accommodation, which was lovely! Everything was spotlessly clean & the extra large bed was very comfortable with quality bedding. We would have loved to have stayed for longer than the 2 nights we had booked and will definitely be returning...
