Thank you to the night shift Manager on 01/04/2013. His name is Steve if I am not wrong. Dedicated and passionated. He helped us to plan our trip to Yorkshire by using public transport. Thumbs up. Breakfast was good and free. In house resturant serve good meal at all times. Price is reasonable. An alternative for you if you dont feel like going out after a long day sightseeing. Furthermore some resturant closes quite early in the city of York. Room was clean and spacious. Not forgetting this hotel is very near to the Train station. For traveller like us who uses public transport is an added advantage.

My stay at the HIlton was as expected to be fair. Check in was very fast and very helpful, typical Hilton type room all you need very clean good however, this is nothing to do with the staff or the property, just the Hilton brand, only internet was in room through BT web site, silly money did not bother! do not use many hotels in UK because of these type of charges plus car parking cost so high! how can you charge your quests for parking! i feel that hotels in this country now should look at other countries to compare the service even their own brands are streets ahead of hotels in the UK. Staff were all great could not do more for you and with a good heart. You could tell even they were tired of answering the questions of the charges ( internet car parking) think they found it too wrong one member of staff did say to me they thought it was wrong when you can go walk 100 mtrs to Starbucks and get internet for free! Having said all that would use again just for location and the staff.

Friendly staff made our stay feel extra special. The only negative was the lack of communication between the agoda automated booking form and the hotel. Agora states the twin room can be booked with a large double bed on request. I did request it and despite emails assuring me as such I was told upon arrival that they have NEVER had a double Bed in a twin room. So I had to pay an additional fee to be moved to a double room. I was not happy with this but had no choice

Marmadukes is a very nearly excellent hotel. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The staff are friendly and the location is great for town and access to the motorway. Breakfast was also great. The reason I say this is a 'nearly excellent' hotel, is that the attention to detail is not quite there. Only minor things like lightbulbs missing and a couple of loose fittings in the bathroom. I suspect that this is just because we went at the end of the season and they do most maintenance in the quiet winter period. Overall though, a great stay in a lovely hotel with friendly staff. Top tip: the carpark at the hotel is small and chargeable, but there are road bays outside with are only restricted during the daytime. Check these out before going in the car park, as we only had to use the chargeable parking for one of the days in our 3 day stay.

The staff could not of made us more welcome. We have forgotten our Blackberry charger and the young guy on the Reception let us borrow his own. This was a very nice gesture and had a real home from home feel which you rarely get from BIG CHAIN hotels so very well done Novotel Sheffield. The hotel was also very clean.... and I am very picky but could not fault it. Particularly the glasses in the bar area were polished prior to our drinks being served which again was a nice touch. We had planned to eat out but decided to stay in the hotel to eat as we were asked very nicely about this and shown a delicious "specials" menu on arrival. A very well organised and efficient hotel nice for all age groups.

It was such lovely building with a lot of original Victorian fittings and very clean. Vicky on reception/bar was lovely and an asset to the b&b brand. The room was spacious and had additional slides across the window to drown out of very little noise there was on this quiet little cul-de-sac. The walk from the city centre was very direct and the b&b was easy to find. The food and room service was great and the added extra of free water, biscuits and hot drinks was an added surprise. Would recommend to all ages

Went expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised, apart from the 1 hour waiting time for check in it wasnt too bad we only booked a budget room with no window but it was great, nice and quiet and dark, no waking up at first light with noisy seagulls. We didnt eat at the hotel but prices seemed quite reasonable and not over inflated like other hotel chains do, and the happy hour at the bar meant house spirits, house wine and pints were only £2.20. All in all it was a great break and an ideal base for Scarborough and surrounding areas

I was over in Leeds for one night with a group of 6 lads for the match. The hotel was in a perfect location, great spot, great bars and restaurants around. The staff were so helpful, they were always there to help and so friendly. The hotel was so clean and 2 of the 3 rooms were upgraded to Executive twin rooms. The breakfast was amazing, I have traveled the world and this is one of the best breakfasts I have every had, so much choice - 100% get the breakfast!! Highly recommend this hotel and will 100% be booking it next time .

It was a very pleasant stay in a very central location, a few yards from the Minster. It is therefore extremely noisy, but reasonably quiet during the night. It is right in the middle of everything and so perfect for sightseeing generally and the Minster and shopping specifically. The food is really good, but that means it's very difficult to get a table at any reasonable hour because it's always booked up with the locals. Still, plenty of excellent alternatives nearby The hotel is small and extremely old, so quirky and interesting rather than modern luxury. Still it is quite comfortable. The service was very helpful and friendly.

Location is great: Half way between the station and York Minster. We got a room overlooking the river and beautiful views of York Minster. Room was modern with USB sockets, and efficient with space (no wardrobes but shelves and hooks instead). Disappointed to find the bathroom bin had not been emptied and was full to the brim - we told the staff on checking out and they apologised. Breakfast had a good selection. Disappointed that they had twinings tea and not Yorkshire tea but other than that, it was fine. Overall a nice stay (minus the bin issue).

Arrived mid afternoon. Checked into the car park opposite hotel (30 yards) underneath railway viaducts. Reasonable rates. Quick 'check in' and a Doubletree Choc chip biscuit biscuit into the bargain. Room was spacious, bright and modern. All mod cons in room (including free internet). Book a high floor if possible - Great views over the city. If you get a rate with breakfast - take it. Breakfast was great value on inclusive rates. Quick service in a busy restaraunt area. Hotel is no more than 10 minutes from the shopping centre. Just ubder the railway arches. Quality Restaraunts are nearby. If you like Mexican try 'Las Iguanas in Cloth Lane. Cafe Italy is also just under the arched approximately 5 minutes walk. Decor is getting a bit old but food and service was first class. The Skybar on Floor 13 is well worth a visit. Beers, cocktails not overly priced. Plenty of seating both inside and outside on the balcony. Excellent views of city from the bar. All in all a great stay in a great hotel in a great city

It's a very nice property. Our room was great and the bed was typical of a good hotel, super comfy. However, the bathroom seemed dated and water pressure a bit pathetic. Lobby was nice, couple of restaurants downstairs. Pool and gym were good. The weights in the gym were all over the place, kind of annoying considering I was first in the morning but otherwise it had most things you could need. Valet is cheap and very helpful. The guys on concierge were full of banter, just what you need after a long drive. We arrived Saturday night and it seemed everyone outside and inside the hotel was there for a party. So it was quite loud. The rooms are quite soundproofed however there was a party in the room next to ours so it was still loud. Overall I really liked the hotel and would stay again.

Stay here. Period. The value for the money was unbeatable, especially considering the location- nestled in the old city center, practically in the shadow of the cathedral- as well as the amenities and the wonderful staff. We had not just a room but an entire floor (bedroom, toilet, shower, full kitchen) to ourselves. Whether this was due to luck or is house policy, I do not know. The place was cozy, clean, and well outfitted, not to mention attractive- I feel somewhat silly saying so considering what a no-frills traveler I tend to be, but appearance and feel can and do make a difference after a while on the road. You get that here without paying through the nose for it. A caveat: we noticed sets of earplugs laid out on either side of the bed for us, as the bar below which operates these rooms has live music some nights. I imagine the streets below may be a little more lively on the weekends as well. We happened to stay on a weekday, so no real bother. Second thing to be aware of: the heating unit is not always turned on when guests occupy the room. A quick trip downstairs to the bar to ask for help brought a friendly and helpful employee up to demonstrate how to operate the heating controls for the entire flat, and that was that. No fuss.

We were greeted extremely politely and were able to check in a couple of hours early which was very handy. The staff helped us to our room and were extremely friendly. The room was extremely clean and very nice, with a large bathroom and bathtub. There was free drinking water in the fridge and the shower/bath always had hot water! This hotel is located right in the centre of Sheffield and is near all of the shops and restaurants. The bed was great and in the morning we had a wonderful breakfast delivered! There's no fee for room service!! Would definitely recommend this hotel and cannot wait to stay again!

Very nice hotel. Cheap and cheerful with bar and restaurant. Local tesco and a few shops close by, lovely friendly staff, we stayed for 2 nights and it met our needs. We got public transport from Leeds City centre which ran frequently. I have knocked a star of the cleanliness as there was a huge white stain on my daughters runner on her bed which we noticed straight away (god knows what it was) cleaners could not have missed this whilst changing bedding, anyways we just removed it and did not complain. All round good hotel except for the issue above.

Lovely staff who went out of their way to provide us a quiet room away from some loud customers. Amazing breakfast! Good room but a little on the smelly side. Carpet needed cleaning, the walls were dirty and the sink in the en-suite was smelly. But it was good value for money. Quiet on the night time to sleep. Car parking straight across the road which was fairly cheap for 24hrs. Overall it was good for what we needed the room for. Staff there all of the time.

Very friendly accommodating staff who made sense of our confusing booking (we're a band on the road with guests showing at different times and days), they adjusted everything accordingly and couldn't help enough. Breakfast was awesome, lots of choice. Town is a four five minute stroll or a taxi for a few pounds. Comfy beds and nice and quiet. Will definitely stay again.

The hotel is not the best looking from the outside, but once you're inside it is everything you would expect from a Hilton Hotel. We stayed in a standard room that was a good size and very comfortable with plenty of storage space, 32" tv, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdrier, iron, ironing board and safe. All staff - receptionists, waiting-on staff etc. were very helpful and friendly. We made the most of the well-equipped gym and pool - towels provided. We'd recommend the £10 breakfast. The food was top quality with lots of choice and you can help yourself to as much or as little as you want. In short, a well located hotel if you're visiting Leeds and want a touch of luxury.

Perfect location for visiting Hull. Clean and rooms are reasonable for the price. Do not pay £13-45 for breakfast it’s really really bad!! Breakfast is served until 9-30 and I went down at 8-40. Very limited selection and food was cooked appallingly like really the worst breakfast I’ve ever had and cold. Waited 15 mins for staff to get coffee. It wasn’t even busy so no excuse. So glad I didn’t actually book the B and B rate for my stay as it’s was £28 more for breakfast 😱😱 So ok for a cheap bed for a few nights just don’t eat there.

Hotel is ideally located about 10 minutes from centre of York and about 7 minutes from train station. It is easy to find being on a main route in/out of the city. The rooms are of a good size, clean and the bathroom and shower facilities are adequate. The staff were very friendly and there were no issues checking in 2 hours before the official check in time. Te car park is fairly secure and the cost of parking is very reasonable at £7 for 24 hours. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will definitely stay here again on any future visits to York.

I was in the UK to visit my son and daughter in law following the arrival of my first grandchild. The accommodation was clean however there were times when the bedroom was rather chilly. I was disappointed in the breakfast self service and the food was not really very hot. The dreaded toast machine either under cooked or burnt the toast black. The staff were wonderful very friendly and most helpful. I would stay again but please try to improve the breakfast facility
