Disappointed with the stay”
Stay at this hotel for 2 nights for honeymoon.The lobby is crowded during the noon time.No staff doing crowd control.People are cutting queue and shouting very loud.During check in,requested for a big bed but the concierge staff gave us a 2 single bed.Request for a change,but the staff say that she could not do anything as the booking i made is from agoda and my booking did not state that its a big bed.She mention that the hotel do not have any more big bed to change for me.Tell me to call agoda to make changes then she can do change for me.Very disappointed

Great for a secluded beach getaway ”
The hotel is secluded from the city. It has a great beach and swimming pool. Probably due to low season, there are not much visitors so I guess staffs are more attentive.

Nice quite hotel a bit old and far ”
The area is nice although it is a bit far from the mainstream hotel area. However if you are looking for a quite place that is children oriented, this is not bad. If you would like to travel around you would definitely need to rent a car as taxis are hard to find in this area. Although the hotel is a bit old however we did not mind that much. The only bad point is food, breakfast is far too crowded and stressful but they do have a baby food section, restaurants are expensive and limited. If you out of the hotel for food there is not too much around.

beach location, gym with sauna and steam, free shuttle to town
I find the hotel is normal like other 5 stars, however for wifi you have to be member of Mariott which is in this era 5 stars hotel should provide free. The front office staff is friendly however the F&B staff none of them have service minded. Maybe because of not enough manning so they work too hard during breakfast. There's nothing to do outside of hotel area, so you need to have a car or taking taxi everywhere you go. The landscape of the hotel however is beautiful.

Considering the standards of Marriott hotels and the reputation of Renaissance, I hoped for better service than the one I got. The receptionist couldn't understand English very well, and it was a hard time checking in. Turns out our room was not ready due to us arriving 30 minutes earlier than check-in hours. (we arrived at 2:30pm). We said repeatedly that it was okay for us to wait in the lobby, but the receptionist insisted we change our rooms.. Considering the hot temperature, we asked for good air conditioning since it was important for us. But we got a room which the room temperature didn't go below 25C. When we called the front desk, they insisted that technician first come to check... Being polite as I could, I said okay when I should have just said to change the room. So the technician came around 15 minutes later... and checked for another 15~20 minutes... opening the hatch, using power tools, even bringing a ladder to check the ceiling... all the while we were in the room. And finally after all that time, which I think was already around 9:30 pm... the technician said he didn't know what the problem was and recommended (finally...) that we switch rooms. He radioed the front desk and told us to wait. And we waited... for another 10~15 minutes.. no call.. So I finally called the front desk, the receptionist answered and was surprised when we asked when are we going to change into the new room. She said she will check. WAITED another 5 minutes. Now it has already been around 50 minutes since we first called the front desk for the problem. The other services were okay, but this one ordeal just gave the whole impression of Sanya Renaissance a bad one.

Good food, good decor”
Great Chinese food, nice big pool, close to beach
Overall the hotel is ok, but it pales in comparison to the Kempenski Haitang which is around the same price and the service was much better. The room is quite basic and no carpet. A number of things didn't work in the room like the phone, alarm clock and bath tub couldn't even release water after use. The most amazing thing is the food turned out better than expected and the pool is really big and nice.
