"Can be a little expensive for Thailand, but if you're staying in Chiang Rai I would stay here. Great sunset views from the rooftop bar. The breakfast buffet was excellent. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend that cheapest room that includes breakfast as there is plenty to do in the hotel and Chiang Rai. The only need for the room is to sleep."

Bura Resort

"My wife and I stayed for 2 nights just to get away from our daily lives (we live in Chiang Rai) and are expecting our first child within the next few weeks and just wanted to rest a few days before the craziness of parenting becomes our reality. We were more than satisfied with Bura Resort. Our room (water front villa) was clean, comfortable and the front patio had such a nice view of the waterfalls that run throughout the entire resort. Highly recommended for couples for a few day getaway in Chiang Rai. The food was great as well. My only critique with it is that the food service is a bit slow (assuming because of the few guests that were there while we were there) and that the wifi was not working throughout our entire stay. Katiliya Mountain Resort & Spa
Mae Chan,Chiang Rai - View on map
"We chose this resort to avoid traffic and crowd in the city center during Songran New Year. We had made a perfect decision. The room is specious and clean. The resort is near every must-visit outside the city of Chiang Rai. It was also our intention to stay in this resort which is situated in the middle between Mae Sai and Chiang Rai. For us, it was very convenient to drive to Doi Tung, Doi Mae Salong, Mae Sai, and ancient city of Chiang Saen. We could not find any faults during our three nights at the resort. We certainly will stay here again next time we visit Chiang Rai."

Diamond Park Inn Chiang Rai Resort
City Center,Chiang Rai - View on map
"We loved our whole Chiang Rai experience, and the hotel was an important part. We don't have high demands and we don't need luxury, we just want a comfortable bed, good showers and air-conditioning so that we can relax and recharge for the next day's adventure. That's exactly what we got at the Diamond Park Inn. The bathrooms were awesome for the price of the room and the beds were firm. The A/C worked great and the kids loved the pool to cool down after a day of elephant riding, boat trips or hiking. The short stroll to the night bazaar made the whole thing just perfect. They are our favourite in all of Thailand because there are lots of culturally interesting items (we found the coolest hand batik) and the vendors aren't pushy. We'd recommend this little hotel to anyone looking for a budget base to see the sights of northern Thailand. "

"The resort is not far from the airport, maybe 10-15 minutes by flat rate taxi (I paid 150 baht at the airport taxi desk). The hotel is away from the town center but that wasn't a problem, The hotel offers free and convenient air conditioned shuttles for easy drop off and pick up at both night bazaar and Central Department Store. The hotel is sprawling, but once I got my bearings it was fine. I was upgraded to a very large and nice room with a huge bathroom. The room and bed were excellent. The excellent breakfast buffet was not included with my room booking, so I paid the extra charge, The pool is huge as are the grounds including lawn and lake. The staff was flawless, always smiling and helpful. I doubt there's a nicer resort in Chiang Rai and I would gladly stay there again."

Phowadol Resort & Spa

"The hotel is located in resort environment, I firstly surprised to see the ambient atmosphere with super staff service when I checked in. Chiang Rai is a very nice province upnorth of Thailand, it's fully filled with Thai cultural and natural experiences. Before I booked this hotel, I have gone thru the comments, most of them looked positive to me. I didn't disappoint myself to stay in this hotel. Breakfast was good, staff was nice, room was clean with perfect amenities, lots of car park space, free night ride to night market, beautiful flowers/trees all along the walkway, etc. Unfortunately, swimming pool was a bit off. Gym wasn't open in the morning. A bit far from downtown, therefore, those who have no car may find it a bit difficult, however, hotel has a service ride at reasonable price to anywhere in town."

Chiang Rai Greenpark Resort
City Center,Chiang Rai - View on map
"This was a great hotel. it seemed like the staff really cared. Its located in the middle of a predominantly thai residential area. 15 min walk to big C, and central plaza ( which were also filled with only locals) making prices very cheap. Please note this area is unforgiving if you cant stand bugs or cockroaches ( they roam the streets at night). but hotel room includes bug repelent and mosquito zapper. we had one cockroach get into our room on the first day. but after that we were more carful with keeping door closed and putting repelent under doorslit. breakfast is good, includes different home made thai dishes each day, for those who like more than eggs and toast. room has hot water kettle. and many ammendities ( no microwave though) good for a quiet comfortable sleep. beds were better than average thai bed. best coffee ( and ice coffee) i've ever had a block away. I highly recommend you try fraps for 35 baht. every attraction in chiang rai is spaced apart. If you want to see it all for a reasonable price, rent a car. I believe chiang rai is one of the easiest cities to drive in. very sane traffic, people stay inside lanes, and lots of signage. otherwise best bet is a tour for 1000 bahtper person. we origionally tried seeing all attractions with busses and grab ta xi...wasnt worth it. "stayed one night before flying out to bangkok. saw the hotel on agoda and was very happy we chose this one as it has a huge lobby, huge dinning room and nice pool surrounded by lovely trees and plants. the room was small with two twin beds but very confortable with fridge, hot water for coffee and the bathroom was well laid out. roomrate came with breakfast and we had a good buffet breakfast before flying out. they have a van for each to the airport and not wanting to take a tuktuk we went by the van. the hotel is so close to the newest or only mall in chiang rai with the only starbucks so we enjoyed walking over to the mall for dinner and coffee, very nice mall, about time chiang rai got one. will be back and will stay at this hotel again."

Phu Chaisai Mountain Resort

"I really enjoyed my stay here. It was very quiet, the surrounding area is very beautiful, my room was awesome, and I was able to immerse myself in total quiet and relaxation. I felt tucked away from the the rest of the world. Upon check in, was upgraded to a room with a big tub on the balcony, which was awesome. I enjoyed hiking everyday and lounging by the quiet pool while staring at the mountains. I did not leave the resort for 4 days. This hotel is not a place to stay if you want to explore the towns nearby or use as a landing point for sightseeing. The hotel is about 45 minutes north of Chiang Rai and the hotel charges 300 baht just to take you into Mae Sai, and 1000 baht if you want to go to Chiang Rai. Only come here if you just want to relax and chill. To get back to Chiang Rai, I paid the hotel 300 baht to take me into Mae Sai and then I paid 20 baht to ride the bus to Chiang Rai. If you are coming from Chiang Rai, and you get a taxi to bring you to the hotel, (mine charged 400 baht), get your taxi driver's number so he can pick you up and bring you back to Chiang Rai when you leave."
