On the whole it is a good experience to stay but downside is you have to adjust with your living ...”
conditions as you will be seeing and staying in with many strangers. A lot of group travellers and some young family and also some grown up family travellers too. Great to see mixture and not a stereotypical ideas of travellers. This is my first stay here in Restup and it started off on a bad note as the booking thru Agoda is correct, but they received booking thru a third party. The room size was supposed to be 1 in 6, with confirmation email but they denied it was accurate and that it looked fraudulent, even tho the feedback came from their named staff.... We did come to an arrangement that I was upgraded to full English bfast on my request rather than go thru cancellation and putting the onus back on Restup. This would never have happened elsewhere as the obligation was with Restup and not the client who had paid in full. The staff on the front desk are not all keen and it seems to be a chore. They are not trained to acknowledge responsibility without passing the onus up the chain. The checking out process is quick and easy but the checking in is a crazy zoo scene due to the fact that 3pm is the ONLY check-in time and not before ! Sure, you cannot occupy the room before 3pm. But surely you can be checked-in before hand and key card not active until 3pm ? I would be giving this place less stars, but the other staff in general are very polite and very helpful. Would I come back here ? I think I would, only because of the location. Other than that, there are many others ....
Amazing stay in here!”
I have one-night stay in here, quite a big hostel but amazing. Especially when I need help to clean my room, we have some water from toilet goes into the room. We went to look for help and I met Mr Emerson! He immediately come to my room and clean it immediately with outstanding performance! He not only clean, he also makes sure everything is in perfect clean conditions before he leaves! I never met someone who work so hard and so helpful in hostel! But, the day I met him! He's the guy, thanks Mr. Emerson for the help! Much appreciate, hope to see you again when I come to London again!
Location is excellent and the facility provided in hostel is more than expected.”
Pros: Location is excellent, very near to London bridge. Facilities provided in hostel is also more than what i expected. Staff is very helpful and serve your request. Cons: Nothing. Hostel has tried to cover all the needs and if you very choosy then its not for you. I would say at this price, hostel is providing excellent service. Thanks!!
Agoda had messed up my booking - confirmed something different than what was booked at the hostel. That was of course disappointing after our long trip from Australia, but all comp, iments to the staff behind the reception... tbey were amazing. Tried to make it work for us, the client. The hostel was amazing, what a beautiful old building and very easy access to the 'underground'. I am sure that l will return again, next time l am in London, but then l'll book straight through the hostel.
Fine room, good place and nice staffs”
I and my friends were on a low-budget trip to London and we found that RestUp was the most affordable. The room is just fine, there is nothing much except for bunk beds and a sink. But receptionists were kind and supportive. Check in process was easier and faster than I thought. There is a bar and cafe downstairs which have good foods and drinks. The location is just suitable for those who can walk a lot, it’s like 10 mins walk from the underground and 30 mins walk from the Tower Bridge. Overall, we were satisfied.
Need to invest to rooms to make it competitive”
I and my brother got the room for 2 as an upgrade from some issue caused by agency. First a lady at reception wanted to charge us extra, but we managed to talk to a manager, and been upgraded for free. I say right away, that beside the 1st lady we were very pleased by all staff members at reception, they went above and beyond, and I'd give RestUp 5 stars for Staff if not that incident and the fact the hostel has so many people that often there are lines just to ask something at reception. The main reason for poor mark is the room. It is really small, dark and only has a bunk bed and NOTHING ELSE! No night tables, lockers, chairs, even a hanger! Almost the same in showers: max 1 hook, that's it. It is very frustrating and can't compare to anything you can find, say, in Iceland (end of our trip). Also, wifi only works in common areas, not rooms. The shower is clean, but leaked, and sink was VERY small. Location is OK, the hostel is clean. Too many people in RestUp make running it hard.
Cheerful staff & value for money rooms”
We arrived after midnight and were greeted by a cheerful receptionist who quickly checked us in. The double ensuite room is compact & minimal with only a bunk bed! The beds were very comfortable, with clean white covers. The bathroom is tiny but has toilet, sink and shower. Everything was very serviceable and clean. For a quick one night stay or for an economical extended stay in an expensive city, this works very well. The location is great - a 15 minute walk to Elephant & Castle tube or a 10 minute bus to Waterloo main line station. We had to leave by 7am, and the same guy was still on duty at reception - still very friendly! We were very satisfied with our stay. Would definitely stay again.
Great as a student, not used to this in my 30s!”
This is perfect for some affordable accommodations with friendly staff and not far from nightlife in London. I used to travel like this all the time in my 20s and appreciate it’s still available. I was with my niece and nephew and we had to laugh at how small the private room with bunk beds was, but all the same, it was great. One thing - we were on the top floor at the end of November and it was a little too warm in the room and the traffic outside was still pretty loud. Oh well, all in all I would recommend it for like-minded people.
Despite all the bad reviews, my stay at RestUp Hostel was pretty good! The staff were very friendly! :) Hope to stay here soon! :)
This was a lovely place to stay. Clean, friendly, breakfast was amazing and great value. I found the building itself to be interesting too. It exceeded my expectations in every way. I stayed in a 10 bed dormitory consisting of 5 sets of bunks. The beds were comfortable and dressed ready for my visit with clean linen. 6 of the bunks were bolted together (one of which I was in), so every time anyone of these 6 residents moved in there bed the other 5 people felt it. I am a heavy sleeper so the disturbance was limited to waking only 3 times in the night but this could easily be rectified if the staff would make them 'stand alone' bunks as the other 2 sets were in my room. My advice to guests is just ask for a stand alone bunk and the experience in the hostel will be 100%.
Cheap hostel, but..”
The overall experience was good. I couldn't find anything cheaper and the value for money is good. Especially because it is well located and close from the subway station. Nevertheless there's one downside : The locker is not free. It costs £3 each time you want to open it. So you have to consider what you need and when. That's kind of unconvenient but it is the only problem I faced during my stay.. Besides the (really cheap) price explains it and even considering the inconvenient of the £3 locker opening the hostel remains good and cheap. Good overall experience. Free wifi even if you have to remain in the main entrance to get it. (It does not reach the rooms) A good and affordable place for a trip with your friends. Friendly staff!
For this price in London, i cant complain much. 10-15 minute walk from tube station. Wifi sometimes slow. Toilet always dirty. However, the staffs friendly and helpful. Must pay for the locker which is very expensive and ridiculous.
The exterior of the hostel looks great. The staff is friendly and there are lockers for your bags if you happen to reach before check-in time. The room is clean. The same applies to the bed sheet. There is a Tesco nearby too and it is about 15 min walk from elephant & castle metro station.
Yes the place is near the tube, walkable distance, staff are ok. The rooms and bathroom are kept clean to an acceptable standard and guests fine. Best thing about this place is the breakfast, which is included in the booking is good, some days full breakfast, which os very good. Only problem is there os no soap rack in bathroom, don't know why looks like all hostels don't put somewhere one can put soap when bathing yet its a very cheap thing to do
Could be better...”
Some rooms were not up to standard but I got lucky and stayed in a relatively clean and spacious room. The access to other parts of the building was good. Access to parts of London from here is very good. Bus is the best way. Amenities outside is not great for dining out or buying in but will do.
Great Low Cost Accom”
Decent location and felt safe. Great for bus routes in all directions. We had a twin room, en suite including breakfast for £83 which for a weekend in London was exceptional value.
You get what you pay for”
Rest Up London was great value for money considering being in London where it is difficult to get a cheap place to stay. With it being a short walk to the tube its in an ok location. Like the reviews say our double en-suite was tiny but fulfilled our requirements considering we wouldn't be spending much time there. It was clean and fresh so had no complaints. The hostel its self seemed very chilled with a variety of people there, from families to school trips. But was large enough to accommodate them all. The late reception was helpful considering we arrived late. Overall a good stay and value for money, would stay there again if I needed a cheap brief stay in London.
Great stay in London”
Pros: Bus stop right outside, close enough to walk to Tower Hill, Tesco up the road, ATM at hostel, buffet breakfast and cafe available, plenty of common areas. Cons: No covered outdoor area. Fee for baggage storage but your bags are safe in a locker so..
Great Value ”
Nice hostel, no cooking facilities but Wetherspoons and many other options immediately at your disposal. E-special thanks to Rest Up host, Arron too!
Best hostel ”
best hotel with a good team, impeccable service, equipment new family atmosphere. a bit of noise often but I think it's more of a youth hostel culture. Clean !!!
