Children and extra beds
Extra beds are dependent on the room you choose. Please check the individual room capacity for more details.
Minimum age of guests is: 16 year(s).
Good if you’re happy with v big dorms.”
The hostel is fine if you’re young and easy going and don’t mind sleeping in 3-tier bunk beds with 40 in the room. It was a bit much for me.
OK HOSTEL, TWIN ROOM MINIMAL (NOT IN A GOOD SENSE)”
Loved the area (Elephant&Castle Station). The staff didn't know if I had payed or not to Agoda, I was honest enough to pay them. The room had a prision vibe (I never been to one hehe). Nice common area. Many food options near, even late. SICK bolivian night club in front off.
Agoda have made some mistakes and we have to wait almost 2 hours before check in. And guess what,.. we get the room in the highest floor but can not use lift at all. The lift is broken at the time. We have to bring our heavy luggage up and downstairs. Thankfully some hotel workers and other gentlemen guests were willing to bring our luggage. TQ.
Could be better...”
Some rooms were not up to standard but I got lucky and stayed in a relatively clean and spacious room. The access to other parts of the building was good. Access to parts of London from here is very good. Bus is the best way. Amenities outside is not great for dining out or buying in but will do.
On the whole it is a good experience to stay but downside is you have to adjust with your living ...”
conditions as you will be seeing and staying in with many strangers. A lot of group travellers and some young family and also some grown up family travellers too. Great to see mixture and not a stereotypical ideas of travellers. This is my first stay here in Restup and it started off on a bad note as the booking thru Agoda is correct, but they received booking thru a third party. The room size was supposed to be 1 in 6, with confirmation email but they denied it was accurate and that it looked fraudulent, even tho the feedback came from their named staff.... We did come to an arrangement that I was upgraded to full English bfast on my request rather than go thru cancellation and putting the onus back on Restup. This would never have happened elsewhere as the obligation was with Restup and not the client who had paid in full. The staff on the front desk are not all keen and it seems to be a chore. They are not trained to acknowledge responsibility without passing the onus up the chain. The checking out process is quick and easy but the checking in is a crazy zoo scene due to the fact that 3pm is the ONLY check-in time and not before ! Sure, you cannot occupy the room before 3pm. But surely you can be checked-in before hand and key card not active until 3pm ? I would be giving this place less stars, but the other staff in general are very polite and very helpful. Would I come back here ? I think I would, only because of the location. Other than that, there are many others ....
Agoda messed up our booking. We didn't get the room we booked and end up paying more for a night stay and worst we need to beg the hostel staff to arrange for us for one night and we check out the next day.
Awful even for a budget hotel. ”
A nightmare. I am a kind person and always try to see the bright side of situations. I’ve never written a bad review in my life because I usually chalk it up to bad timing. Working in customer service, I know everyone has bad days. I also know booking on a budget is a shot in the dark and I’ve accepted some grungy accommodations, but this place is awful. Reception had the worst attitude towards guests. We finally got a room key and when we entered the room, I immediately noticed the bed was messy and my partner noticed the photo on the wall was upside down (just straight weird). I looked more closely and there was an individuals luggage under the table. The room was occupied and we were inside it. We immediately went back to the desk, waited in line for 15 minutes watching reception continue to get disgruntled with guests. I put on a smile, explained what happened and requested a refund as I didn’t feel secure leaving my belongings here when someone else could get a key to my room because reception isn’t paying attention or there’s a flaw in the system. Reception completely ignored what I was saying, changed room keys, handed them back to me, and moved on to the next guest without acknowledgement. I told reception I’d wait for them to call a manager. Ten minutes passed and they hadn’t called a manager so I went to the bar around the corner and requested the manager. I explained to the manager the situation and they refused a refund saying they’d give us a better room. Gave us a 200 room and said to go to the second floor to find it. Well it wasn’t on the second floor. We had to go to the first, travel the length of the hotel, back up a side stairway and into a separate part of the hotel where there was only three rooms. This is quite obviously the room in the photos online, and honestly if this is the best they have it’s very sad. We found pubes under the sheets, there’s only one outlet, and no shampoo/conditioners/soap bars available. Oh, and the “secure” key acces
There are only three bathrooms in first floor for a big number of beds..
I had a pleasant stay here, nice and helpful staff, cleanliness was quite good, spacious rooms, good location to visit the city, I would stay here again.
Lots of space out of the rooms no space at all inside the rooms
Need to invest to rooms to make it competitive”
I and my brother got the room for 2 as an upgrade from some issue caused by agency. First a lady at reception wanted to charge us extra, but we managed to talk to a manager, and been upgraded for free. I say right away, that beside the 1st lady we were very pleased by all staff members at reception, they went above and beyond, and I'd give RestUp 5 stars for Staff if not that incident and the fact the hostel has so many people that often there are lines just to ask something at reception. The main reason for poor mark is the room. It is really small, dark and only has a bunk bed and NOTHING ELSE! No night tables, lockers, chairs, even a hanger! Almost the same in showers: max 1 hook, that's it. It is very frustrating and can't compare to anything you can find, say, in Iceland (end of our trip). Also, wifi only works in common areas, not rooms. The shower is clean, but leaked, and sink was VERY small. Location is OK, the hostel is clean. Too many people in RestUp make running it hard.
Nice place for a couple of nights”
It is a nice place to spend a couple of nights. It's close to a metro station and bus station. The rooms are what you pay for. I got a room with more than 30 beds, bunk beds of 3 beds. It's a safe and nice neighborhood close to a supermarket and restaurants. The staff is friendly and helpful. I asked for a bottom bed since due to an injury I can't climb to a top bed. They attended my request. I didn't like there weren't enough outlets around to charge our electronics. The bathrooms can be cleaner and have more toilet paper available. The £4 breakfast is just bread, cheese, ham, coffee, and juice.
Agoda had messed up my booking - confirmed something different than what was booked at the hostel. That was of course disappointing after our long trip from Australia, but all comp, iments to the staff behind the reception... tbey were amazing. Tried to make it work for us, the client. The hostel was amazing, what a beautiful old building and very easy access to the 'underground'. I am sure that l will return again, next time l am in London, but then l'll book straight through the hostel.
Pros : Great location , easy and fast access to central zone , cheapest location ever in this area, lovely place with lovely staff . Cons : Sometimes the traffic can be to much for someones sensitive ears, please do inform the reception and ask for a quite room . No sockets in the 30 beds but , and one the rooms has a socket , so make sure you dont forget to bring an extension so you can help others too ( good to socialize with them , and if you are to shy , that can help you change it ) .
It was the 3rd time I stayed in Rest up London and I really enjoyed every minute!”
The staff are always very kind and friendly, even if they are busy they always have a smile in their face. I don't know when I'll be back again, but I don't have any doubt to return to rest up. A special thank's to Daniel, please don't get me wrong, but it's always nice to talk who talks the same language( Brazilian, and Portuguese) but between 1 and 10, I'll give to all of you 11... thank you guys for this 2 days... hope to see you soon :) Well done Luzia( Portugal)
Cheerful staff & value for money rooms”
We arrived after midnight and were greeted by a cheerful receptionist who quickly checked us in. The double ensuite room is compact & minimal with only a bunk bed! The beds were very comfortable, with clean white covers. The bathroom is tiny but has toilet, sink and shower. Everything was very serviceable and clean. For a quick one night stay or for an economical extended stay in an expensive city, this works very well. The location is great - a 15 minute walk to Elephant & Castle tube or a 10 minute bus to Waterloo main line station. We had to leave by 7am, and the same guy was still on duty at reception - still very friendly! We were very satisfied with our stay. Would definitely stay again.
You pay for everything”
Expensive to rent a locker 2-3 pound/day. So for a total of 7 days I decided to keep the valuable items on me. 30 in a room ... first room with a green light in the night but the second (beside the tv room) is dark, dark ... 3 showers/ 2 toilets for many, many people ... Hopefully I was leaving very early. I didn't use commune kitchen ... better to buy stuff from some groceries from 8 to 15 minutes away. Outdoor terrace and TV room seem closing early. For more privacy, better a top bed. 2 persons shared (!!!) a bed some some hours (2 nights in a room) below mine. Less bad than I expected to stay in such crowded rooms.
It’s just an “okay” place ...”
...to stay. Anything more than that and you would be better off on a nearby competitor only 10 minutes away by foot. The general staff have been good but the management is not what you would expect it to be. They are not CUSTOMER/GUEST friendly. Outwardly yes, but after seeing them discussing individuals in an unprofessional manner leaves me to think that the joke is on the traveller. A little due care and attention by certain members, including the “managers” would instill confidence for the traveller. A far cry from that here... Travel here at your own discretion !
Read this review before going here...”
The customer facing staff were below average except for one or two who made you feel welcome. The general attitude is they don't want to be there and they are right and not you. Their behaviour is defensive when you need something done. When you ask for something, it becomes a chore. This is not a customer friendly place. If you expect rapport, go somewhere else like Safestay(nearby on Walworth Road) As a last resort option only. You get less value for your money here.
Very Expensive, and noise.”
Hello I have been a few times in Rest up a few times for the last 2 years , and I never had any complain, but the last time I was not very happy: Firstly it was very expensive ( and I booked 2 weeks before), and I didn’t managed to rest at all because there was a lot of drunk people on the corridor talking and laughing since 2:30 until 5:30 even when I came outside 3 times and asked if they can speak a bit lower because there was people who need to rest they were very rude and just ignored. Nothing to say about the staff, 5 stars as always. Thank you
