Right on beach with a very friendly staff and english speaking owner. A bit removed from the night life but not far from night market and baht bus runs on beach road right outside. Restaurant serves tasty western food if you came to Thailand looking for that for some reason. My one complaint is no way to make coffee in your room No kettle no microwave. I am a very early riser and not having coffee is not an option. Had to go down 4 flights of stairs and ask the lady on duty to microwave a cup of water to carry back up 4 flights of stairs to my room where I kept some instant coffee I had bought earlier and repeat if I wanted more than one cup.
Right next to the sea.”
The women in the restaurant were so welcoming and pleasant. The owner, Eddie, is friendly and helpful. He’ll even take you to the 389 bus station. I had a 600 baht room, but for 800 you can get a balcony room facing the sea across the street. Food is expensive, but it’s costly at all expat places. I would stay here again.
Cheap and nice”
New Yorker owned, nice rooms, not my type of food since I am vegetarian, but I guess if you are not, it's good American food with lots of meat and eggs and stuff... haha. Beach right across the street, and ocean view. Hard to beat the price!
PROS AND CONS”
PROS - THE STAFF OF THE RICHMAN POORMAN GUESTHOUSE ARE A FAMILY. THEY ARE CHEERFUL AND HELPFUL. THE OTHER GUESTS TEND TO MIGRATE TO THE RESTAURANT/ENTRANCE AREA AS IT'S A COZY AND COMFORTABLE ATMOSPHERE TO DINE AND HAVE A DRINK. THE GUESTS VARIED FROM SOLO TRAVELLERS, TO FRIENDS, TO FAMILIES. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, OR REQUESTS, THE STAFF ARE QUICK TO ATTEND. ALL IN ALL, A VERY PLEASANT GUESTHOUSE AND I WILL SURELY RETURN SOON. CONS - I DIDN'T ORDER THE PORK CHOPS (THEY LOOKED ABSOLUTELY MOUTH-WATERING DELICIOUS). THE VIEW FROM MY ROOM HAD SOME OBSTRUCTIONS.
Comfortable bed, nice balcony/beach view”
The bed was comfortable (unlike many in Thailand), and the linens were first rate. The pillow was big. The room was very comfortable. Cable had a lot of channels, but the bar downstairs had more. No plethora of sports channels though the restaurant/bar is sports themed. No CNBC. The food is good, but the portions are very small and the prices are relatively high for Thailand. The establishment attracts expats from Jomtien and Pattaya, and there is a warm, relaxed feeling in the restaurant. The only real drawback is the noise along the beach. There is perpendicular parking available free across the street, and many Thai come at sunset--around 6 pm--and really crank the stereos/boom boxes out front shaking the hotel. They scroll through their smartphones and talk until late morning. My first three nights it was impossible to sleep, but if you're in town for the nightlife and sleep during the day, you're okay. The air con in the room was very weak, and it was hot. There was a fan in the room, too. I spoke with the owner about this. It is a problem throughout Thailand. It would be difficult, but if one found a hotel without the perpendicular parking (like the Now hotel just down the road), noise might be less of an issue. It truly is a problem. Otherwise, the room was very, very comfortable and clean.
Excellent guset house in a beach location”
Warm, friendly atmosphere in a comfortable accomodation. Located across the street from the beach and close to restaurants and bars. Room was spacious and bright although there is no elevator. I would stay again.
nice guesthouse, big comfortable room”
Our stay was memorable. The room has balcony facing to the beach. I stayed with my parents and my 5 months baby. Cant complain anything. Owner was kind to explain some tourist attractions nearby. Breakfast was wow.
All in all a good place to stay”
All in all a good place to stay especially if you a Golf Fanatic The owner is American and very friendly and helpfull as with all the staff Can be a bit noisy outside if the local lads park by the beach and start their bloody getto blasters
Good Value Close To The Beach”
We enjoyed our stay at Richman Poorman Guesthouse. The staff were very friendly on arrival and during our stay. The accommodation is very close to the beach and there is an onsite restaurant. Access to the various areas of Pattaya is quite easy utilising the local transport.
Very nice guest house with great staff”
just across the road from the beach. very friendly staff. restaurant served both good western and thai cuisine. easy to get a tuk tuk to downtown pataya for but expect to pay for 2 people when returning late at night.
Great little hotel”
i arrived on superbowl sunday right after the game and bar was packed. this place must be expat central for big sports events. regular crowd was friendly and happy to include me. my room was as adertised, clean and comfortable. no elevator but help with your luggage is available. location is is very short walk to jomtiem beach, just across the street. good cooked to order american or english breakfast. eddie the owner personally welcomed me and introduced me to his lovely thai wife. everyone in the place was friendly and helpful. if you decide to stay here (and why wouldn't you), tell eddie tom sent you. i may be able to hit him up for a beer on my next visit.
I'm lovin it”
as the reviews say, this is a very good place to stay. beach is just across the street. 7-11 just outside the doors. breakfast is excellent. only complaint is the wifi was a bit weak in our room and would often cut out.
Great location, great rooms, great restaurant”
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and excellent free wifi in the room and bar/dining area. Best of all was the breakfast. Jomtien is a beautiful beach and it is directly across the street from the guesthouse. It is very easy and convenient to get to Pattaya on a "baht bus". For your stay in Jomtien or Pattaya, Richman Poorman Guesthouse is your best bet.
Worth evry Bath”
Nice and clean, big fresh rooms, every day fresh towels and sheets. Could use my shaverknife to shave looking at mirrorclean floor after daily clean from cleaning staff. Nice american food, rich portions. Have no Thai-food, but 15m from entrance is a thairestaurant located, and it is OK to bring food from there to eat at Richman Poorman Restaurant if needed from your other part´s at the table. Location god in Jomtien, not 100% if you need 100% party, but instead U can sleep nice in perfect bed. If need party 1km to walk along nice beachroad or take the car 10Bath. This is American hospitality when it is best.
"Fantastic place to stay"”
Stay here it's great !!! Owners really friendly and bend over backwards to help you. Really homelike environment, will meet and mingle easily. Had a room with a balcony, nice and clean and good size. Great position opposite beach and central to everything. The cook is really good and food excellent. Never stayed at a guesthouse before, only hotels, would definitly stay again.
Great place to stay that is very convenient to the beach & easily accessible to Jomtien and the main road to Transit North and South to wherever you need to go. Friendly English speaking Staff and good food.
Stay away from this place”
Had a complaint about what I think was charging twice for a bottle of water. However, the complain was shouted down noisily by the American owner of the guesthouse in front of his staff and other customers. Though the booking was for 2 people (I am a single traveler), only for the first 3 nights second breakfast vouchers were grudgingly provided. Strict instructions that the the 2nd voucher cannot be used by a visitor who might stay over night. No 2nd breakfast vouchers (good for an extra coffee) were provided for the 2nd 3 three nights. After being verbally assaulted by the owner I decided to leave the guesthouse after all together 5 nights.
Best American restaurant in Pattaya”
They have probably the best American food ive seen in Pattaya. By that I mean BBQ ribs, chowders, steak plates, etc. They are very good at that. The room was acceptable. We stayed here for 9 days and so I can say that if the room is close to the road it is pretty noisy at night with the motorcycle traffic. And the shower had this stupid thing where it's completely enclosed except for one small hole in the tiling that floods the entire bathroom whenever you take a shower...kind of defeated the purpose. So overall the room was fine but the included breakfast and the overall restaurant menu was the highest quality part.
Good location and good view from room ”
I will recommend this guest-house for all guys. Here is very good and convenience location in Jomtien beach. There are many cheaper and casually restaurants, store shop. The best value is the beach view from room (No 52). The only thing that unfortunate was surly look of their staffs.
Great Place. ”
Really friendly and nice staff. The owner aswell, you can ask him anything and he will help you and give you good advice. The bed was really comfortable, room was big. I can highly recommend this place.
