Great experience, fab location, comfortable rooms”
We stayed for 2 nights at the Richmond Sapporo Ekimae... location is great, literally 3 minutes walking from JR station (we walked on the main street for 2 blocks and then made a left) and perfect to check the Sapporo Snow Festival... the restaurant on the premises is great... room is smallish but quite efficient, it provides everything you may need, a small desk, tv, good bathroom and comfortable bed... The front desk helped us in booking some buses and they were really accomodating... Overall we were very happy with the hotel...
Quality hotel that exceeded expectations”
The staff were welcoming upon arrival at the Richmond Hotel in Sapporo. They were friendly, attentive to provide for our stay. The location is accessible from Sapporo station (easy access from exit 22 on the underground Toho subway walkway) and just north of the other attractions of Sapporo (such as clock tower, restaurants, etc). It makes a good business or casual hotel. Rooms were of excellent quality and modern, with everything exceeding what we had expected for a value hotel.
WE ENJOYED TREMENDOUSLY THE STAY AT RICHMOND. FOR NON-SPEAKING JAPANESE TOURISTS, WE HAD NO PROBLEMS GOING AROUND. THE LOCATION WAS SUPER AS ITS SO NEAR TO SAPPORO MAIN STATION, SHOPPING MALLS, EATERIES N INTERESTING PLACES ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCES. STAFF WAS PROFESSIONAL AS MOST SPEAK ENGLISH, VERY WELL MAINTAINED HOTEL AND EXTREMELY REASONABLE HOTEL FARES. WILL DEFINITELY COME BACK AGAIN N HIGHLY RECOMMENDING FRIENDS TO RICHMOND HOTEL SAPPORO
Plesantly surprised stay”
Richmond Hotel Sapporo Ekimae exceeded my expectations by providing sufficient amenities to a rather huge room. Toiletries for kids was a plus. Staff were helpful in pointing out directions to the underpass and called for a taxi on our behalf. There was also a washing machine with drying function at hotel. Check out was a breeze.
Excellent Hotel at a Good location”
Its a very clean hotel. The location is good as it is near the convenient stores and several blocks away from Sapporo Station. Tokyu Hands is also nearby. Susukino and Tanukikoji are actually walkable, maybe a 10-15 minute walk but if you want to be closer to the happening area like Susukino and Tanukikoji Arcade, I suggest another hotel like Mercure. There's also another Richmond hotel right beside Don Quijote. Hope this helps :)
Positive Richmond Hotels experience.”
We have stayed with Richmond Hotels before, and would do so again. The front desk staff were great and spoke English well, and the hotel is in a good location. If you come out of the JR Sapporo station gates, follow the signs to the Toho subway line. Once in the subway, walk around to the left of the entry gates and look for exit 22. Turn left after coming up the stairs, and this will take you within 50m of the Richmond Hotel entrance. This is great if you're arriving in the snow or rain. Bathroom was large in comparison with other Japanese hotels, and well stocked (and restocked every day). The view of the city was nice and it is an easy stroll into the Susukino district.
Another nice stay with Richmond Hotels”

Close to Sapporo Station”
If you are looking for a hotel close to Sapporo Station, this is the hotel. Close to exit 22 of Sapporo station but you will have to take a few flights of stairs. If you are carrying a lot of luggages, and want to skip the stairs, use exit 23 instead which has an elevator although a little bit further away. Staff are friendly. My girlfriend was not feeling well, and I requested for some medicine for fever & cold, and they promptly provided them. Free mouthwash and bath salt at the reception table. They have a microwave and ice machine on level 8 which was really convenient. There were a few things (nothing major) but since I had stayed in a few hotels in my time in Hokkaido, I could compare. Room is a little bit small. The water shower is not consistent (sometimes the water is a little bit colder, sometimes a little big hotter). Bathtub quality seems not as good as other hotel which I have stayed. It feels not as solid and feels hollow at the bottom. Very minor problems but I just feel like pointing out. As another hotel which I stayed in Sapporo, Susukino which was similar in price but offer a bigger and more superior room.
Elegant hotel with excellent service”
conveniently situated near subway stations and jr station. my wife and i were staying at richmond hotel during the sapporo snow festival 2012 and it was very convenient to get to the various sites and saved us loads of time.
A nice and clean hotel with good customer service”
This a my first time in Sapporo and this hotel provides me a very nice experience, especially impressed by the front desk officer who are absolutely helpful and patient to hotel guest, they offers free Skin care products to ladies, help us for restaurant booking and recommendation, help to get taxi and keep luggage for us. The hotel room is clean with nice street view, hotel amenities are very good with nice shower stuffs, toothbrushes, comb, hair dryer, so I don’t need to bring these stuffs when travel. The hotel location is easily accessible from Sapporo Station JR and subway, I would recommend this hotel to other guests
Everything is Excellent!”
My Husband and I have a great stay in Richmond hotel,2D1N. Location is only 5 mins walk to Sapporo station, is very convenience! We didn’t get to enjoy the breakfast because I have an early flight to catch. Stuffs are friendly, Room is very clean and cozy, We really enjoy my stay in Sapporo.
Convenient location with clean rooms”
i had a wonderful stay at the richmond. everybody was extremely helpful and polite. i would definitely recommend this to a friend. in fact, i did recommend it to three of my friends while i was in sapporo, and they all joined me.
Book this hotel cause have a good impression of Richmond Fukuoka. Though near the station, getting to hotel via underground is still very confusing. Need to walk about 10 to 15mins to Sapporo station. Hotel uses Kettle that is above the room elect voltage. So when I turn on the kettle, the bedside lights and the toilet lights turn off and vice versa when the water is boiled and the kettle turn off. Gave us a fright thinking something is wrong with the room. Only when we check with the front desk, then the manager explained to us. I think it would be better that they inform guest before guest experience it. Almost wanted to request for room change if not because we trouble shoot step by step the cause of lights turning on and off without any reasons. Other than the above, hotel provides good facilities for laundry wash and purchase of drinks. Still worthwhile to stay here but would request a room without electrical problems.
Great hotel chain”
Stayed in Richmond Hotel in Tokyo previously. This time at Sapporo is eaqually good. Clean and nice facilities. Really like the complimentary skin care products provided for ladies. The location is close to JR station and a couple of convenience stores. Would stay here again if I have the chance to visit Sapporro again.
Value for Money & Comfortable”
The size of the room is reasonable in Japan standard. It's located near exit 24 from Toho Subway line Sapporo station without elevator or escalator. You may want to walk a few minutes for the exit with elevator. A bit further walk from JR Sapporo station to the hotel. approximately about 10mins. Overall, it's value for money for hotel near Sapporo station. clean and comfortable room. We are travelled in group of 6 and 2 nights stayed in this hotel.
Nice and comfortable stay”
Enjoyed my stay here as it's really convenient to get around. Comfortable and quiet stay. Will recommend this place. The nearest underground to get to the hotel is by Sapporo subway exit 22 but if you have luggage with you, it will be via Sapporo subway exit 23. Might be alittle confusing to walk underground if you're not familiar with it.
Comfortable room; superb service”
The hotel is near the main Sapporo train station so getting there was not problem at all. In fact, we could use the underpass for most of the way because it was snowing quite a bit. There were more people underground than above like some of the reviewers said, and the shopping was great! Easy walk from the hotel to Odori Park as well. :)
Close to Sapporo Station”
The hotel is only 10 minutes walking from Sapporo station. Take exit 23 so you can have access to elevator if you bring big luggage. The hotel room is nice with fast internet connection in room. Hotel staff is also friendly and they will help you to make tour reservation if you cannot speak in Japanese. They speak good english.
Came back to this hotel after trip out from Sapporo, left my luggage with them. And when I checked it again, they actually put the luggage in my room again. Thank You, appreciate this help as I was carrying my shopping loots back thinking of I might need to drag my luggage up again. Walking distance to places I want to visit and it's clean and comfortable stay too. Will be back again next time round
Excellent location, clean and comfortable”
The hotel is located near Sapporo Station and next to it is the subway station, which is very convenient. The staff is very nice and helpful. The room is clean and comfortable. If you feel tired and a long day, you can get complimentary 'onsen' bath salt from the reception. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
