Lovely hotel and service with a smile”

Almost like brand new

Richmond Hotel offers quality rooms and professional services. This one at Sendai though located a bit far from the station (it takes you a 10 minutes walk) but room is spacious and clean. You will certainly like it after a long tiring day. Rooms are all connected to the Internet and with all necessory ammenities.

Very clean, roomy”

Clean, all toiletries provided (including cheap laundry), spacious, great city view

Hotel Richmond was very clean, the room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable (although a bit on the firm side). The AC was working and was very cold (not a common thing in Japanese hotels). The blankets were thick and warm, but the pillows were pretty uncomfortable - closer to the traditional style of Japanese pillows. The hotel was within walking distance of Sendai Station (JR), about 15 minutes. The hotel was not extremely close or convenient in relation to the main shopping and nightlife areas, but I always walked to and from and never had to take a taxi. The price was very affordable, but breakfast was not included. The only option for breakfast was a Royal Host restaurant in the lobby, which was kind of expensive for breakfast (about $15-20). There were also other services in the hotel, such as massages, but I did not utilize any of the services. The staff was very friendly and kind, but spoke little English.

A pleasant surprise ”

Good location, drinks vouchers, pleasant staff

For those worried about walking distance to JR Sendai, as I was when I booked this hotel, I did it in 7 minutes at my usual brisk clip, door to door. You may get held up at one pedestrian crossing for what seems like an eternity. On the other hand, there are walkways that mitigate against that risk. I doubt you will find a better, closer hotel than this one. For some reason we were placed in a room on one of the Comfort Floors, which sounds good though I don't know how it compare with a room on a regular floor. But it was good for the soul, at least. Best part was the vouchers for free (nonalcoholic) drinks at the Royal Host restaurant next door. I took my iPad and surfed the Web for a good hour or 2 every night while knocking back untold cups of cocoa. I paid for breakfast once, and overdosed on pancakes. Staff were very pleasant. Only minor quibble is poor directions given on the website. I found the hotel more by luck than anything, though it was not too hard in hindsight.

Just 5 minutes walk from Sendai JR Station/Malls”

Excellence and friendly staff, ultimate location and excellence room service.

The best hotel of your choice that located very close to Sendai JR Station and short walk to main shopping mall of the town. The room service and reception counter staff are also good in doing their job. I was truly happy and free from fussy during my staying in Sendai.

Convenient and reasonably priced”

Confortable room setting, reasonably priced, very polite staff

As long as there's someone who can support you staying there, it is very reasonable hotel. Location is only 8 minutes walk from the Sendai station, but a bit complicated location. Once you know there, it is just fine. Problem is the breakfast. Restaurant is not facilitated but the Family Restaurant called "Royal Host" is located 1F of the Hotel. But it is relatively small, and weekend Breadkast is over-capacity and need to wait for 15 minutes or more. Skip that restaurant, take a morning walk to the station, then you need plenty of choice along the road.

One night stay for the purpose of sightseeing in S”

Clean, comfortable, quiet and convenient.

We had a three person room which was a very good size and much more comfortable compared to a similar room in Tpkyo. The hotel is a short walk to the train/bus station. We asked the desk clerk for help in finding a church for Easter services and for a place to buy a yukata. She provided us with names and customized maps on how to get there from the hotel. When we later went to the department store recommended for yukatas we found that the desk clerk had called ahead to the store to alert the clerk that we would be coming. The store clerk at Parco was so much fun and helpful.

Great experience for a night ”

The hotel staff was very proffessional, welcoming and helpful. The security of the keycard usage for everything that was very cool and smart and the depth of the tub was perfect for relaxing

Overall the experience was great. The staff was impressive from the professionalism of the front desk to the courtesy of the housekeeping. The room was clean and I loved how safe it felt you had to use the key to start the elevator and your room. That was very cost effective and I thought that was awesome. The location was perfect it was right next to a lot of great places to eat and a huge shopping area within walking distance of the hotel. The valet was very helpful in helping me park my van and the overall stay was excellent. My only complaint was the bed the comforter was perfect it was nice and heavy perfect for putting me to sleep, but the bed was a little hard for my taste. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay.

It was only autumn (about 13 degrees outside) but was about 30 degrees inside the building 😐 anyway, check in was smooth and easy and the room was clean and big enough for 2. Check out process is super easy through the machines too. Hotel is about a 10min walk from the JR station and plenty of food options about.

Convenient business hotel”

Close to Bulette train station, walking distance to shopping street, quiet neighbor

As long as you have a local guide that take care of your at the fist visiting, you will be completely OK. First visit may take you some extra minutes to find a hotel, but once you know it, it is just OK. Problem was the restaurant, which is not an in-house restaurant/dining for the hotel, but "Royal Host" a family restaurant runs. It is always packed and needed to wait for 30 minutes.

Very nice hotel, but bring a pillow!”

Extremely clean, cold working AC, lots of space, very quiet

The price was very affordable (about $ per night), the room was very clean and surprisingly roomy, but the bed was pretty firm and the pillows were extremely uncomfortable. I did not need to bring any toiletries, for they were all provided. Breakfast, however, was not included.

Not the room I booked.”

I booked a Twin-room with 2 double beds in 27 sqm. Instead I believe I got a Superior Double Bed in 22 sqm with an additional bed. I forgot what I had booked when I checked in, and the staff did not explain 1) that there has been a change in room, or 2) why. The extra bed made the room very cramp. In summary and in point form (+ for positive, - for negative, = for neutral points) + Cup noodles vending machine + Microwave in common area + Drip Coffee bag provided in room. + Charger with multiple adaptors provided in room (new standard "feature" in Japan Hotels.) = No onsen or public baths. If this is your thing. - No Wifi. Or if there was, there was no "introduction" to the Wifi SSID or password at the front desk at check-in. (I used the Mobile Wifi I had booked). - Room not what I booked, with no explanation or communication regarding the change in room type and size, and the additional bed included. - not value for money (if you're on a budget S$847 for 3 nights).
