Close to nature, good horse-riding fun for beginners, great staff”
Located inside Leisure Golf and Country Club at Kulai. Very simple lodging built in 1999 with very basic amenities. Family-run hotel and horse stable/riding school. Quiet when we were there. Food served at Agnes Café, by Agnes is good, convenient but rather pricey. There is a very small spa/swimming pool but I heard you can head off to Leisure Golf & Country Club for their pools as there are some private arrangements btw RL and LGCC. Wifi is bad throughout stay. Horse riding packages are flexible and just in front of lodging. Nearest mini town – Tesco with restaurants around it is about 15-20minutes drive out.
Aging property requiring refresh”
The concept is romantic, the reality less so. Externally, the asset is pretty. But in it, the air-conditioners don't work well, TVs are malfunctioned and stashed away, and there is only wi-fi in common areas. These shortcomings are not acceptable for the price one pays. Perhaps it lacks the owners touch, who were away when we stayed in. However, the horse-riding is the saving grace. Horses are clearly well-kept and trained and chief handler Rosli is a safe and confident pair of hands. Won't mind returning for horseback riding but certainly not to stay. After all, it is not far from Kulai or even JB when lodging choices are plentiful and more value for money.
Amazing place and friendly hosts”
Pros: it was really amazing to see the kids go on the pony ride as they really enjoyed it. There is a stable there with many horses and it was a great time getting to know more about horses. I was pleased with the horse riding lesson given for my Son as well. It was really worthy. Though initially I was upset with the wifi not being fast or at times not able to get it, eventually I came to understand that this wifi-less moments got me to enjoy the nature and the time spent with my kids were more meaningful. Oh yes! There is a mini Swimming pool as well. Great place for kids. Thanks for letting us check out late as well. We are planning to come back! :) Con: the safe could have been fixed. However the room 27 happened to be the only one which had problem with the safe. And we were in there.
First family stay ”
In that time it was under different mgt. The state of the horses was the thing I worried about. Equipment should have been better. The staff is wonderfull, in the restaurant nice tasty food served, Siti at reception was helpful, and the instructor Tarek is dedicated and determined to do best for the horses and manage the stables. The rooms are ok, bed, bedding, pillows good and comfortable. Bathroom should be a lot better for the price you are paying. I think a renovation or renew this lovely location and lodge is necessary to be able to move forward. Good luck with that!
Dear Kathinka . Thank you for your very kind feed back. Sorry it has taken us so long to reply. Our belated apologies to you and family for a not happy experience at the old Riders Lodge. Riders Lodge was under Liquidation from June to Dec 2019. I was one of the original shareholders together with Sennett . He has left Malaysia. unfortunately when you stayed over at Riders in Oct 2019 , we were still in the liquidation period and not allowed to do anything . I just kept the horses and staff in my personal capacity without a company. The horses were very skinny and sick , the resort was tired and run down , staff morale was low. I have officially taken on the horses , staff and the facilities under a new company Riders Resort since Jan 2020. we have fatten up the horses , regular check up by vets , cleaned up the stables. we have also spend a huge amount of funds to renovate , refurbished , repainted the resort . All bathrooms and bedrooms are now new , fresh and clean. Lobby , lou
Weekend getaway with kids”
Nice place for relaxing and going on horse/pony rides and lessons. This is not a hotel but more of a home. The Owners live here and they are very friendly. The staff and service here are excellent. Food is good. Homey feeling. Recommended for short getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life
Gourmet Food !”
Pros- The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Agnes and her husband are very good hosts. The food served is made from scratch and the staff are generous with extra servings of rice or bread. The place is very beautiful and there is a well-kept stables just in front of the hotel. There are 4 house cats who are friendly the loving to the guests (esp Miru and Patchy ) Agnes even made us her special lemonade and gave us freshly baked cookies before we checked out. the horse riding lessons are fun and the kids really enjoy themselves. Cons- the place not accessible without car and may not be easy to find. There is plenty of nature here to enjoy but there are no other facilities other than horse riding. Swimming pool is more for children. Rooms are simple and the sheets and bedding while clean, are quite well-used
Spacious Room and Good Service”
The hotel is blackout in the midnight fortunately it is recover within few minutes. Hotel Staff is excellent and helping every single problem you facing.
Nice place to be with nature & horses”
Nice country lodge; the location is a little bit hard to find as the driving directions on Goggle Maps is not entirely clear. Look out for the sign-posts along the way. U need to pass through some plantation and drive about 10-15min after the guard post before u can reach this place. This is not reflected in Goggle maps. Do not expect luxurious hotel accommodation but rather more countryside kind of living.. There are fixed timings for dinner so if u come late, and the chef couldn't prepare the food in advance, that's too bad cos the moment I arrive (about 5+), the first thing the staff said was to ask me for my meal preference. That said, it might be wise to ask for in-house meals because the nearest eatery is about 15-20min drive away. You can learn horse riding or just chill at the country house. Will stay again.
Quiet and Out of the Busy Town”
Good for kids to learn what's horse riding at a reasonable price. Staffs are very friendly.
Had an enjoyable time but not 5 Stars Lodging”
My family and I had an enjoyable stay at RL. Very nice stay and nice environment, good place to just relax with the family and just spend quality time with the family. The staff were helpful and attentive. The only feedback I have about RL is that it is inaccurately rated as a 5 Star lodging place in Agoda. It is not. My ratings above is based on a 5 stars standard of accommodation. RL is nowhere near a 5 Stars Lodging. More accurate to be rated as a 3 stars lodging place. Don't get me wrong, we had an enjoyable time. But the ratings is not accurate and can cause mismatch of expectations of the guests who are going there. Reading the reviews, it seems that this is the case.
A great getaway from Singapore”
My family enjoyed a weekend getaway from the urban life in Singapore. About 1 hour drive from the border. Kids enjoyed horse riding lessons. Food was surprisingly good. Very relaxed in a forest.
Interesting stay”
Just satisfactory overall. Staff and female owner are very nice. Unfortunately, we had a black out past midnight and thus we had to sleep with no ventilation (no fan and no air-con) throughout the night with no staff to explain to us what happened till the morning. In the tropical humid weather, we were blood meal for the mozzies of course.
Dear Phui , thank you for your very honest review on July 8 , 2019. sorry it has taken us so long to reply. I have taken over the resort in December 2019 and renamed it The Riders Resort . we have spend subtantial amount to upgrade the entire place , including putting in new electric cables , new air cond , fans , retiling of the bathrooms , refurnish the bed rooms and lobby/ lounge. Water is now clear and the entire resort feels fresh and clean. Horses are healthy and strong. We apologies for the uncomfortable night you and family had to endure dued to the black out. we like to invite you and family back to the resort as our guests when the Singapore /Malaysia border open. Give me a call at +6592977411. Warm regards, janet yeo

Stay was phenomenal, thanks to the riding lesson and exposure my son got. Its a place where one can totally unwind and relax.
Great relaxing night (and two days) away”
Staff and owners are very friendly. Lovely verandah. Food is generally good. Bed is a little hard and pillows (too) fat
a weekend getaway”
A very great getaway from your busy schedule. Back to nature horse riding was fantastic. Will defiantly be back again
Perfect family ranch getaway”
The building is beautiful and atmosphere was a different experience. The horse riding facility is the key attraction. However the location and surrounding facilities is a bit far-off.
