An amazing setting and definitely worth visiting ”
Whilst it's not the easiest place to get to (and involved a terrifying speedboat ride in the dark through crocodile infested water) i'd definitely recommend staying a night at Rimba lodge. We enjoyed the movie night showing an orangutan documentary and was great to then start our boat tour from the dock the following day.

A great Chill Out after a Tour”
We had done a full boat tour and some trekking in the area before arriving at Rimba, so we really used it as an end of tour chill out. We loved sitting on our veranda, watching macaques and proboscis monkey leaping across the trees and then landing on the roof of the lodges. It was low season when we were there so not many other people around. Hakim our guide was energetic, enthusiastic and always looking for something to show us. Weaw a wild Orangutan on our transfer to Kumai and he found us a Bornean Green Viper in the grounds which was great. A real chill out place but they can also do you Orangutan, village visit trips and so on. I would do this with them if I went again.

Excellent stay at Rimba Orangutan Eco Lodge”
My husband, son and I had an excellent stay there - so much luxury in the middle of a jungle. It was a large and lovely room with A/C, mosquito nets and hot water. We loved the jungle atmosphere with monkeys playing on the roof. They thought of everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Food was excellent. We also booked a private 2 day boat trip (on a 5 crew Rimba Queen plus our lovely guide) to see orangutans with them which was out of this world.

Nice place to stay, almost the only place to stay”
It's hard to rate Rimba in the same way I'd rate a regular hotel. It is a lodge in the jungle on a sparsely populated island in a developing country. The room was comfortable and quiet, but the price was also high for a one star hotel Indonesia. However, how many places in the world can you stay with tropical birds and monkeys? The staff were friendly and helpful. If a friend was planning to visit Tanjung Puting, I would definitely recommend they should stay here.

A great and different experience”
Rumba Orangutan Eco Lodge is situated in a jungle. Do not expect luxury, but it does have comfortable enough staying. Surrounded by plants, monkeys jumping on the roof... great environment. Meal choices are very limited (fixed menu). If you have special dietary requirement, you maybe out of luck. Staff and guides are very friendly and helpful.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Eco Lodge. The lodge and the time spent on the boat with our excellent guide and captain made for a very memorable experience.

BEWARE HIDDEN FEE”
Everything would have been just fine if not for their sneaky way they overcharge for the airport transfer. Yes, the lodge is remote, but that is no excuse for charging $125 for us to take a short taxi ride and a half hour speedboat ride one way. The posting "warned" about that there would be a charge from the airport, but didn't give any indication just how overpriced it would be. It's overpriced because the going rate to rent a speedboat all day is a fraction of this cost. Now, why did I say "sneaky"? Well, I wrote them a message informing them that I would need the ride (and which tourist wouldn't need a ride to a remote lodge on the river?) but they didn't respond informing me of the cost until the morning of my trip. Hardly enough time to make other plans. When I complained, they just said it was a decision from the office in Bali. I have nothing against the staff - they were very nice and accommodating - but the management in Bali thinks they are being clever by bilking

Unclean, lazy service!”
This place is ideal if you don't want to sleep on a boat for another night, however that's the only positive! The room was dirty...there was gecko poo everywhere! The windows don't shut properly and there are huge gaps in walls so the room is constantly full of mosquitos! The breakfast was really poor! The staff had left lots of tables messy and hadn't filled any of the dishes up so the butter and jam were practically gone as well as hot and old! The fruit platters were left uncovered and were full of fruit flies and the tea was ghastly, overall we were really disappointed with our stay! Rest bite from being on the water but that's all it was good for. Apart from a home stay there is no other accommodation by the orangutan feeding stations so they know they have the monopoly and are lazy with their service!

Better than expected....for being in a jungle”
It's in a jungle, so don't expect luxury. But if you've just spent time sleeping on a klotok or trekking through the forest, it actually feels like an upgrade. Consider that they make their own electricity (mostly solar), so having lighting (even just one single light bulb), air con, hot water, and even an internet connection (extra cost, using office laptop) is better than you might expect for "camping in the jungle." Food was decent. Negative: At times, there is a noticeable (strong) sewage smell. Perhaps they need to address the cause and find a solution for this. There is no hot water and tea/coffee in the room. Would be nice to have. It is expensive for such basic accommodations, but that can be attributed to the remoteness and having everything brought in by boat, etc.
